@Bmaja: @JennyPenny: thanks ladies, I'm doing ok today. It's still sore but much better than last night. I don't think its broken, thankfully. I didn't call my ob; I figured if I had a bad night or if it didn't feel better at all today then I would, but I'll be there Monday anyway. And like I said, I'm ok. I'll probably lose my finger nail though thankfully I caught it right behind the nail, but before the knuckle.

@JennyLayneAZ: shew! I was thinking about you today, I’ve had a broken finger and the thought of just being able to use ice just about made me pass out.

@skiierchck99: hello. I sort of wish I was further out.
I am very glad you guys inspired me to get moving on the nursery and getting stuff from amazon last month. Now it’s just focus on staying well and keeping moving.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: and that right there is the only reason I suspect it's not broken, I haven't taken any Tylenol since first thing this morning. Don't get me wrong, its sore, but much better than yesterday. And bearable.

@JennyLayneAZ: I’m glad it wasn’t worse. Slammed fingers can be so awful!
@Bmaja: Seriously! I felt like I was being silly at the time but it’s such a relief to know I’ve got everything I should need.
I am super anxious for my appt on Monday. I’m curious to see the state of the doctors and hospital setting, and to get more info on if anything is progressing as well as another ultrasound!
cherry / 134 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: yaaa!
So FYI I’ve been reading the british obstetrics website rcog... ever since the uk had a newborn test positive for clovid. They revised their guidance yesterday and it made me feel a little better. Bottom line, life isn’t how we planned but we are ok, take precautions to limit exposure/spreading, eat healthy, and minimize stress.
So what’s everyone doing to distract themselves?
What are you doing to keep yourself informed?
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: We have been working on the house, finishing up moving everything around, and getting the last of the baby things done. I'm going to pack my hospital bag today so that'll get done, and find the tote with the 0-3 months clothes and sort through that.
Keeping informed by checking my news apps once a day at the end of the day. Occasionally watching the daily presidential news conference on you tube, but I'm trying to not overwhelm myself.
I am distracted though. Not sure if it's end of pregnancy or COVID or both, but I left the stove on this morning 🤦♀️ I've never ever done that before!
nectarine / 2460 posts
@Bmaja: I think I'm actually able to stay more distracted now that I'm at home with 2 little minions running around. When I was still working from the office I was googling things constantly, but now I can only check occasionally. I've tried to avoid reading the big scary articles and mostly focus on numbers for my state and county since I think that's what'll impact me most. We have 40 cases in my county and no deaths in the entire state yet. I'd be freaking out a lot more if I was in a state like NY or CA.

I had my doctor's appointment this morning, including my growth ultrasound. Baby girl is measuring about 6lbs 1oz, and plenty of amniotic fluid! What a relief!! She's head down and face back so perfect position. I also am 1cm dilated and 70% effaced. So far, looking good but no evidence of going into labor anytime soon.
On another note, my state just closed K-12 schools through May 15, so I will definitely have big kids at home at the start of maternity leave.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: Glad you had a good appointment. I also had an ultrasound this morning, baby girl is measuring about 6 1/2 lbs right now. She is also head down and facing my spine lol so, no pics to share unfortunately. Did get another picture of all her hair. Good fluid levels and she got a good shot of the umbilical cord that she was happy with. Growth did slow a little, she was at about 68% and now she's in the 40's but she said she wasn't concerned or anything.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: heh, yeah, my tech tried to get me a picture of her face but it looks super creepy. She looks like a grown man but I'm hoping its just cause of her face being smooshed weird.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: Haha OMG that's too funny. I just keep reminding myself I will get to actually see her soon enough.
Oh, and on the school subject, ours are closed until 4/10 at this time, well see if they extend that it not. My dad works in IT for one of the districts here and they're trying to get every student to be able to learn remotely by the end of next week. I can tell you, it's a huge district. It'll be interesting to see what happens. Oh, and they're trying to do that while working from home too!
nectarine / 2460 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: Our district is pretty large too. With the previous announcement they've said they'd try to put out resources but they would all be optional and cannot be graded. I think it's an attempt to reduce inequity due to access to tech. But I'm not sure what they'll do now with the latest mandate. That has my kid out for 9 weeks, a solid quarter of the school year....
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: I think their goal here would be to basically teach the kids like an online school? But, not entirely sure. Our school year here ends the week before memorial day, so they don't have much time left in the year. I don't know that our district is aiming for the same thing or not, as my dad works for a neighboring district (but the one I attended).

@JennyPenny: @JennyLayneAZ: what a happy day for you both! One less thing to worry about! I find out next week. Can’t believe you guys saw hair. Don’t think dr’s office has a fancy u/s. But as long as we get position and an idea on fluid amount I’m going to relax. Pretty sure hiccups are down low, but just don’t know for sure.
As for school, my daughter is blossoming with all the one-on-one attention, so it might not be what school would have done- but it’ll benefit her in the long run. Plus we get outside as a family almost everyday.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: funny part is, she can always see the hair when she's on regular black and white mode with the ultrasound, not 3d or anything.
I saw a post from a homeschooling mom taking about how you don't have to sit your kids down for 6 hours a day and teach, that they benefit way more from an hour or two with activities throughout the day. So, I'm sure you're doing great and you know your kid best!!

So, random question...Im filling out the census...should I include the baby? She (hopefully) won't be born by 4/1... So, my guess is no, but ??
nectarine / 2460 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: Heh, I had the same internal debate yesterday. I went with "no" since I didn't have a birthday or name for her yet.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: I decided not too also lol since I filled it out online, it asked for birthdays...so, I don't know that for sure yet since she could still come early!
nectarine / 2460 posts
Wow, I’m so grateful that I’m not in NYC now. Some hospitals are keeping ALL visitors, even spouses, from delivery wards.... https://www.nytimes.com/2020/03/24/parenting/coronavirus-labor-birth.html
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: I heard about that. I think there are hospitals in other places doing the same. Its terrifying!

Oh, also, the governor of AZ gave a list of essential businesses and mine is on it. So...I guess no matter what happens I'll be working until next Friday (I'm taking Mon-Wed of the following week as vacation and then C-section is on Thursday). I have a letter from my employer stating that I am allowed to commute in case the state gives "stay at home" orders or whatever.
In case you're wondering, I work in construction. I understand it is essential to the economy (I've only ever worked in construction so I understand FULLY what construction means to the economy as I was a working adult during the recession lol) but it kinda sucks at the same time. My employer has said they would/could set me up to work remotely, however, my computer at home is so old and hasn't been turned on in so long, that I'm not sure it even works, and, if I remember correctly, doesn't have Wi-Fi built in. Sooo.... that's where I'm at.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: Oh wow, that's so hard. Do you see a lot of people at work? What's your childcare situation been like?
DH and I are both in software development, so very easy to WFH (under normal circumstances at least) so we're lucky in that sense. The only time I've left the house since March 13 is my 1 OB appointment. The hard part is I feel like there are some things I really need to wrap up before baby girl gets here, but its a struggle to get significant amounts of work done.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: Just my coworkers. They told field employees not to come to the office as of last week, and this week they're keeping the doors locked (from the outside - we can get out but people can't freely walk in). So, we have 15 people in here normally, with a couple of superintendents that come in once a week or so for payroll and scheduling.
Our daycare is still open...with strict new guidelines in place. So, that's what is going on with that the attendance there has been super low though, enough that they reduced their hours until further notice. Unfortunately DH also works in construction/trucking, so he's working as well.
Oh, we also have "how to wash your hands correctly" (from WHO) papers plastered ALL over the office lol

@JennyLayneAZ: I feel like we need to start a hospital bag feed for covid stays... easy mac, power bars, lunchables, husband crammed in the suitcase just had a friend deliver and they were in and out of hospital in 24 hrs (husband was allowed). I stayed several days with my first, it was a long labor and she needed antibiotics... but definitely will be following on here to hear people’s experiences.
Will have to try and find some masks and purell to leave for the nurses or something.
@JennyLayneAZ: i didnt know daycares were staying open! Im impressed.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@Bmaja: I feel even more like I want to try a VBAC now, so I can hopefully reduce my hospital stay. My next appt is Monday and I’ll be 36w6d. I’m wondering if they’d consider a membrane sweep. It’s a tad early but I want to try everything I can
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: daycares were listed as essential too. Not all of them are open, but ours is. And it's a center, not an in home or anything.

My county has officially issued stay at home orders for the next 3 weeks. They explicitly mention staying 6 feet away from anyone not in your household. I'm wondering if I should stop allowing my boys to play with the neighbor kids. Its just one other family but it feels slightly risky as we get closer to delivery and now it feels like deliberately disobeying the order
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: aw man, that's tough I'm not sure what I'd do in your case, but, I'd probably not let them play with the neighbors, unfortunately.
nectarine / 2690 posts
Ugh i am feeling really crampy today. But, it's constant... not something that comes and goes like contractions...so, I don't know what is going on
nectarine / 2460 posts
@JennyLayneAZ: I think you’re probably right about playing with the neighbors. Enforcing it will be so hard.... Also, I was super crampy for about 2 hours today too. Like you said, constant and mine didn’t include any belly tightening either so definitely not contractions. Google left me thinking it could be a sign labor will be soonish, or nothing at all. Ugh, hate the limbo. Since mine went away I’m leaning towards nothing.
nectarine / 2460 posts
And our state just followed suit with a stay at home order lasting until the end of April...
cherry / 134 posts
@JennyPenny: @JennyLayneAZ: i get this way if I dont stay hydrated and walk around to much... but I’m not as far along so - shew this is getting real. Can’t believe someone might deliver soon... I mean i can, cuz I basically can’t cut my toenails anymore or get out of bed without grunting, but ya.
nectarine / 2460 posts
Had a few good contractions in the middle of the night last night but they're all gone now. With DS2 I had painful contractions every night for a week around this time that ultimately went nowhere, so I know not to read too much into it but it's hard not to get excited.
cherry / 134 posts
@JennyPenny: awh get excited! They aren’t doing nothing - they are preparing your body. Yaaaa!
nectarine / 2460 posts
I had my appt today. No membrane sweep and she said I'm still 1cm so I haven't progressed at all the past week Feeling kind of bummed because I was hopeful it could happen soon.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@JennyPenny: sorry ☹ I am stuck somewhere between "come on body lets get this started" and "itd be nice to make it to the 9th". I was crampy all Saturday also, but better yesterday.
Got my hospital bag packed, all the newborn and 0-3 clothes washed and put away (and good grief we have WAY too many clothes 🤣🤦♀️) so I'm feeling pretty good and ready.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: Im definitely not walking too much and drinking plenty of water, so i have no idea what the cramping was about. 🤷♀️
cherry / 134 posts
Ultrasound was today... so excited she was head down!!!!! Yaaaaaaa. Sigh. She’s tracking one to two weeks ahead, so estimated delivery date got moved up... we’ll see. So yesterday I was exhausted, no other symptoms just literally could not get out of bed. It cracked me up in a funny not so funny way, because prior to covid it’s like ya that’s part of pregnancy... but most of the day I was wondering if I was sick. Ha. Im fine today. So no.
Had a few coworkers who have gotten sick and so thankful I quarantined when I did. My heart goes out to all those infected. It’s such a broad range of severity.
nectarine / 2690 posts
@Bmaja: yay for baby being head down! I had another good ultrasound today too. And our governor finally issued stay at home orders to start tomorrow at 5pm. Nothing will change from what I've been doing the last 2 weeks already, but nice to know that people that shouldn't be out will hopefully stay home now.
