@JennyLayneAZ: oh no I’m so sorry.

@Bmaja: thanks. I'm not sure how a funeral is going to work right now 😕 maybe the grand kids can have something small (there's only 3 of them) just for themselves. Only one of them was allowed to see her this week, so, dh and bil didn't even get to say goodbye.

Or, maybe they can have her buried abd have a service later.

@JennyLayneAZ: oh I'm so sorry. This is such an especially challenging time to deal with these big life events too My uncle actually passed away recently as well and they decided to just do a service in the fall, so I think delaying those types of things is fairly common. Sending love to you and your husband

@JennyPenny: thank you. I'm sorry for your loss as well.

Yeah, selfishly, this is bad timing lol I don't know if I've mentioned or not, but MIL passed away unexpectedly when I was pregnant with DD1, and this is her mother. So this feels...i dunno. Weird. And unfair. Why do we have to deal with loss when we're supposed to be nothing but happy? Twice?! And a pandemic!? WTH universe???😦

@JennyLayneAZ: @JennyPenny: so many people are or will be in this spot at this time. So sorry for both of your losses! This is a little morbid, but funerals to me are always a celebration of their life. Everyone comes together and tells funny/special stories. It’d be so hard not to have that!! We still crack up about my grandmothers wake (that’s the meal after right?). Lots of us were sitting on the floor hanging out in the living room. Some where sad, the room was quiet, someone new walked in (my aunts best friend) and she went to sit cross legged and let the biggest fart. We all died. I mean no one could talk for like 20 minutes. People from other rooms came rushing in - we couldnt hold it together long enough to tell them. My grandmother would have loved it.

@Bmaja: we definitely have a celebration of life here as well. She was a crazy, fun, party loving lady, so, when we're able to, we'll have a great party for her!

Soooo... the nerves are setting in ladies! I'm having a baby tomorrow!!!!!!!

@JennyLayneAZ: so what are you feeling? What’s your last meal? Ha.

Ok on a separate note - do you do gifts from baby to siblings?

  10. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@Bmaja: lol I have no idea what I'm eating for dinner tonight yet (and it's dinner time lol). We're not doing a gift from baby to big sister, only because Easter is Sunday and her birthday is next week...so, she'll be spoiled enough as it is lol

I'm feeling anxious, excited, nervous... lol

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: also, did you still have your pre-op appts? I just got a call saying not to come to the hospital for mine and they'd call with info the day before.

  17. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: I didn't have anything scheduled with the hospital? I had an ultrasound Monday at the Dr office, but that's it. I'll be in triage for 2 hours before surgery though.

DD and the dogs are all settled with my parents 👍

@JennyLayneAZ: seriously so exciting. This is making think thru my hospital bag. Ha. It’s definitely nice to know what to expect. What day, etc. mine is hard to envision besides, maybe water breaks, chaos ensues. Ha. My mom keeps texted trying to have a bunch of back up plans in place. I’m all this took almost 24 hrs last time... but guess #2 will come a little faster. Who knows.

Well just so excited for you @JennyLayneAZ! All I can say is excited over and over. Ha

@Bmaja: I so wish labor and delivery could be somewhat predictable. Even all the signs are all over the place. With my first it was just over 24 hours between the first painful contraction I had and him being born. Both DS2 and this pregnancy have had a ton of false contractions, but ones that really hurt and had a pattern. With DS1 all my false contractions were just painless tightening.

  20. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyPenny: ya my first my water broke without contractions starting. Finally had to use pitocin to get consistent ones. As soon as I had the epidural I was ready to go in like an hr and a half. So hard to know what to expect this time... except my body has been thru this a few times (3 miscarriages + 1 full term). So I guess I’m hoping for little to no interventions- except maybe an epidural:)

  21. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: at least water breaking is a nice clear sign! I swear my body is messing with me. I've got some pink discharge today, but no contractions... *shrug*

At least we know one baby is coming today and probably already here

@JennyPenny: ha seriously about a baby today.

I thought I saw pink today on some tp, no it was just my finger. Hahahaha.

Full disclosure - my mom is totally BEC to me when I'm pregnant/have a newborn. I suspect it's hormones combined with the fact that she drives me nuts anyway. But I'm scheduled for c-section on the 14th, and DS2's birthday is on the 18th, so we should be home in time and I planned a small birthday celebration then. But my mom is now telling me about the stuff she got to celebrate his birthday while she has them when we're at the hospital. I know it's totally ridiculous to be mad that she's going to do his birthday "first" but I just don't like the idea of her doing this celebration without me there

  27. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyPenny: ya I’m with you in that one. It’s going to be hard enough adjusting to all this change, being away, and things not going as planned. Do you feel comfortable saying something? Does she just want to have the toys available for him to play with?

@JennyLayneAZ: hoping you guys got some sleep last night!

  28. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: no, I realized that under normal circumstances this would be ridiculous, but also probably wouldn’t happen. They wouldn’t celebrate my kids birthday without the parents! But under normal circumstances we’d invite them to join our celebrations and we won’t be doing that either. So I can understand it. Just another unfortunate side effect of covid times I think

@JennyLayneAZ: how’s everything going? Has the experience been very different because of covid so far?

  29. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyPenny: just a hard time all around. Give yourself a break. Maybe just have them call it an unbirthday? Ha. Ya that wouldn’t do it for me either. My MIL or mother would have probably done it and told me after. Just like they did with DS1’s first haircut and first cake (before the age of 1). Oh and not to be forgotten, when teething a little bourbon was given. Sigh. Mooooothers!!

I was wondering the same questions. You are looking at less than a week, 4 days until you meet baby girl!!! Man who am I going to talk to on here?! Ha.

  30. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: oh geeze - first haircut and first cake!? That is ridiculous. I try to take in all the good and bad things my mom and MIL do with regards to my kids and store it away for when I'm a grandma. Hopefully I can remember it all

And yep, 4 days! Today is my last day of work and I've pretty much wrapped up everything I need to do. So I'm gonna set some out of office emails and just wait and see if anyone needs me for anything. But otherwise I'm pretty checked out And don't worry - I expect I'll be checking HB pretty regularly even once baby's here

@Bmaja: @JennyPenny: we're home now ladies. The hospital was super quiet, which was a little eerie. Check in was fine, they had a table set up outside and asked if we'd been experiencing any symptoms, fever, etc and then gave us hand sanitizer and walked us back.

My c section was....um, fine. At first everything was going well, they got baby girl out, I got to see her, etc, then they had her and DH go to recovery during the tubal and that's when things got bad for me. I went from feeling tugging to extreme pain in a split second. They gave me fentanyl and tordol (sp?) And after what felt like an eternity the pain went down, but, damn. I couldn't talk about it at first.

She was bf really well until today. She stopped wanting to latch abd when she would she'd immediately go to sleep, so, we started supplementing, which is fine. I feel good that she got all that colostrum! And ill keep offering the breast but I'm ok (mentally/emotionally) if she doesn't take it anymore.

Big sister is smitten and even gave her her lovey ❤❤❤ to calm her down when she was crying. It was so sweet. She looks so grown up now I had to hold back tears lol

    How are you ladies doing?

  32. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: thanks for sharing! Glad you guys are home and doing well. So it was about 48hrs for your stay then? And how terrifying about regaining feeling during the tubal. Ugh, it gives me shivers just thinking about it. How are you feeling about being done having kids? And your DD1 sounds like such a sweetie

  33. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@JennyPenny: yeah I would definitely have preferred an epidural over the spinal block😐

So, they don't count the day of surgery, so yes I was in post partum just over 48 hours.

I'm actually super ok being done with having kids. I'm 100% sure this has to do with my age lol but I'm content with my two girls ❤

  34. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: aww, so sweet! I hope I’m sure one day. My feelings about being done are all over the place right now, and covid for sure is not helping.

At this point I’m assuming I’m making it to my scheduled c-section so I’m planning for that. Looking forward to celebrating Easter with my boys tomorrow and hopefully coming up with something fun to do Monday before taking them to their grandparents

@JennyLayneAZ: shew that is literal torture. You are a warrior. Glad to know you have no pressure with the whole bf journey. My goal is to be in the same place. But hormones will tell. What a wonderful picture of the two of them! We keep warning my daughter there will probably be lots of crying. Ha.

@JennyPenny: so is time flying or moving slowly? Just two more days!

I’m doing ok. My back is killing me, i feel like I’ve been hit with a hammer due to spv. And my eyes are super itchy and tired. It might be cuz i am sitting outside a lot. But spring is my favorite time. Allergies be damned.

Ok so anybody have any fav nursing tanks? Need something that won’t cling but doesn’t look to mumu-esque. Ha.

  38. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@Bmaja: Im surprised I'm taking the bf thing so well lol 🤷‍♀️ I hear you on the allergies! We were able to take Bonnie out to the l&d garden and it was so nice out! But she started to get cold so we were only out for about 10 minutes. It was nice to get out of the room though. Then yesterday it was raining when we got to leave lol which is not so common around here lol but I love spring as well, soak up the nice weather while you can!

  39. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

    Happy Easter!!

@Bmaja: Honestly both! It’s crazy how that can happen I’ve actually been avoiding the outdoors even though the weather has been beautiful because of allergies. I also have asthma so anytime I get congested it turns into a cough and that is the LAST thing I need right now.

Also, weirdly, with both my boys I had terrible back pain at the end. I’ve been lucky on that front this time around but I get this terrible pain in my legs and hips in the middle of the night. It’s so odd, but apparently common. I find myself thinking things like “I can’t wait to deliver so I can finally get a good nights rest” which is basically the most ridiculous thing ever 😛

@JennyPenny: hahahahha. I keep thinking the same thing. But then I am reminded how insane the first months are... how you celebrate the first time you get more than 3 hrs! But how there’s excitement at getting up for every feeding. And never ending energy... mostly. I feel like the days are slow but the weeks are fast.

@JennyLayneAZ: it’s raining here today... so we celebrated Easter yesterday- which means no big clean up today. Yaaaaa.

But church in our pj’s will probably never be forgotten. Happy Easter - hope you are able to make it special!
