Ok so yes I’m the paranoid prego who went to the hospital in the middle of the night because of less (no) movement during a tornado watch- took a ton of shaking to get a few kicks. All is fine with baby girl, just a lazy night I guess for her. But better safe than sorry. Poor hubby. Did find out he has to sit in waiting room, unless I’m delivering. Weird times. Hope you all are well.

@Bmaja: Sorry for the scare! I get it though, I was almost that lady a few days ago. I woke up at 4am and couldn't get her to move. So I told myself I'd eat a ton of sugar and if she hadn't moved within the hour I was headed to the ER. Thankfully it worked But I keep panicking every time she's still for a few hours. I started 2nd guessing my decision to do the repeat c-section the other day and I realized that I really just need her to be here so I can stop panicking like this.

And on that note - tomorrow's the big day! I had my pre-op appt this morning. New instructions are to arrive at the hospital at 5:30 with surgery set for 8:30!

@JennyPenny: yaaaaa! Wow. The day is here. Saw your write up in birthing during Covid. You are in such a great place, sounds like it is time!

Ya I ate some sugar, a banana, but nope nothing. Called the ob on call. He basically said it cant hurr. When I was sitting there in the hospital I definitely felt not ready. It was a good realization. Just need to be patient, keep trying to excercise and she’ll come when it’s time. Trying to take it easy today.

So any plans for the last meal I think I’m going to start planning my first meal home ya! Some fancy carryout!

Oh and side note. Still ordering from amazon? We have some promises of arrival dates then it passes by. What I read is essential stuff is still coming... hope that includes the owlet and breast pump I finally ordered.

@Bmaja: ugh, yeah in that case I would definitely have been at the hospital too. I was actually just trying to decide my last meal 😂 Were dropping the kids with the grandparents before dinner tonight so it’ll be just me and DH.

I haven’t really had any problems with amazon ordering. In fact, I bought cake pans on Sat for DSs birthday next week and they came yesterday! Less than 24hrs after I ordered. I was very surprised. Hopefully if they can manage that they’ll be able to manage whatever diaper orders I end up placing next week too.

@Bmaja: OMG how scary, all around! Glad everything is ok with baby and (presumably) no tornados!

@JennyPenny: yay! It's so interesting to read how your hospital handles c sections vs mine - I didn't have to use special soap or drink anything lol they gave me wipes you use on my stomach, lower back and upper legs when I got there and then I had to have two bags of fluids before surgery.

Oh, did I mention the issues with my iv? Ugh. So they got the iv in my left lower arm (not quite in the wrist) and it was fine until after surgery. Then they discovered it had popped through the vein so they had to remove it. That took three different spots in my right arm because my veins kept blowing out. So I ended up with the iv in my right hand 🤦‍♀️ I have bruises and residual tape all over.

@JennyLayneAZ: geeze, you did not have a smooth time. And the drinks and soap are new this time around - I didn't have it with my last. I know the drinks are because of some study showing that people recover better from surgery if they have the energy from the drinks rather than a complete fast, which makes complete sense to me. No one explained the soap though. I'm supposed to shower with it tonight and again first thing in the morning though...

@JennyPenny: weird I’ve heard of them telling patients to go buy a specific soap, dial or something? Maybe they are saving you a trip to the grocery? I would think the energy drink wouldn’t stay in your system long enough to be useful hours later- but what do I know... I’m eating 6 dates a day. So sick of dates.

@JennyLayneAZ: ya it was scary, and no, no tornadoes too nearby. I am so not looking forward to getting an IV. Breakthrough is the worst. And it seems like it takes forever for the bruises to go away.

Dropped off the kids with the grandparents and now we’re picking up pizza and salad for dinner tonight. Not exactly a fancy last meal but the idea of something heavy sounded terrible. It was super awkward dropping the kids off because I’m very paranoid right now and so I wouldn’t go within 6 ft of my parents. I imagine this is really hard for my mom, which I completely understand but I just don’t have the energy to worry about her feelings right now.

@JennyPenny: take out! Heaven!!! Sounds like you are being smart about exposure. I think your littles should provide plenty of cuddles for her. Time to focus on you mama. To the last night of back pain, fighting with a giant pillow, and peeing 5 times in 6 hrs!

@CatchAFallingStar: aww so sweet! Love the caption with her giving a little wave! How are you doing? I can’t imagine the coronavirus situation is helpful at all given the trouble you’ve had with anxiety

@Bmaja: haha seriously. I also have no idea but this could be my last night pregnant ever. My gut feeling is that I’m not done, but I think DH is, so I’m trying to appreciate it just in case. But also, never being this big again sounds fine too 😛

@JennyPenny: we had take out the night before too lol I hope you are able to get some rest tonight!

@JennyPenny: you’re right. It’s been very hard for me. I’ve had a particularly bad day today with being depressed about it. It just feels like it’ll never end, ya know?

@CatchAFallingStar: I’m so sorry. Hopefully things can turn around soon. Both with the crisis and hormones or medication to help you too.

Sitting in triage now waiting for surgery in an hour. I too had a botched IV. They tried a few places and ended up squirting blood each time and I ended up almost fainting. Feeling better now but my hand and wrist hurt like hell. Not a great start. But I also hear some laboring moms in other rooms and it reminds me that at least I’m not doing that. That’s a whole other level of pain

@CatchAFallingStar: what a wonderful announcement! I’m so impressed you were able to pull that together. I think I’ll be lucky to get a few good photos. I can blame Covid right?

@JennyPenny: wow last night pregnant. Ok ya that’ll be me. I don’t think I’ll probably know it, unless I’m induced though. Guess I’ll just have a dance party every night until then. Ha. I definitely really looked forward to being pregnant- after all the losses and complications, giving up, acceptance, but ya it’s been a roller coaster and not very comfortable. Guessing it’s my age. I’m definitely excited to never weigh more than my husband ever again!!

@CatchAFallingStar: It definitely feels like it will never end. But it will - we just don’t know how long. There are so many researchers working around the clock on testing, vaccines, medicines- they will get it. Just like polio, tb, etc. but it definitely feels overwhelming, and that’s ok.

@JennyPenny: Speaking of hormones- what day after birth is it most intense for you? My peak is usually 7 days. Last time few times I cried all day. And just let myself have a pity party. I’m hopeful this is what happens again. Hormones are crazy powerful. They take over sometimes.

@JennyPenny: aaaaahhhhh! In triage! So so so excited for you. I’m going to have to have a pep talk with my nurse and make sure she’s feeling ready to put in an IV. Sounds like this lady hit an artery!! How am I going to concentrate on work now? Ha.

    Sorry for the book.

Lily is here! She’s a sweet, sleepy one ❤️ 7lb 14oz. We’re doing well. I’m a bit light headed and my blood pressure is low like last time. But they’ve got me eating crackers already and said I can order lunch! I’m loving this new protocol

@Bmaja: actually, one of the best things about my hospital is the food. It’s really good. They’ve won awards - which is hilarious but also wonderful

I’ve been creeping here both to follow c-section stories and also to see what delivery is like during Covid and wanted to say congrats to those who have had babies this month!

The best food in my hospital is at the au bon pan but dh won’t be able to leave l&d to get it 😭. Trying to figure out what I bring because I didn’t love the other foods.

@JennyPenny: aww she's adorable ❤ love her name!

@skiierchck99: my hospital food was...not great lol and dh couldn't leave to get anything else either. I think the best thing I had was the French toast on my last morning.

@JennyLayneAZ: did your SO get to order since they couldn’t leave? I think that’s the deal now at our hospital. We also had people bringing in carry out last time and while I won’t really miss the people (though am sad dd won’t be able to visit) I will miss the carry out!

  29. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@skiierchck99: he could order (for $8/tray) or he could go to the cafeteria, there just weren't any tables and chairs set up in there. But... I'm pretty sure it was all the same food, just with more selections ( like chips, candy, etc) at the cafeteria. There was a coffee stand also that sold peetes coffee, but the hours were super limited since l&d is the only area that is allowing any visitors.

@JennyLayneAZ: that looks delicious! And $8 for a meal isn’t bad. I figured we’ll have to pack easy mac or ramen. Ha. I really hope this labor is shorter though — last time I only had jello for line 24 hrs. Good way to take off the baby weight fast. Ha. Burn million calories laboring and then the kitchen is closed until the morning.

How’s everyone doing today? Had a dr appt today. Get checked next week. Hopeful I go naturally into labor this weekend since my ob is the one on call.

Doing pretty good over here. Bonnie had a check up today, she is back up to 7 lb 6 oz, so that's pretty good.
I stopped taking the oxy today, hoping that helps ease the constipation. The stool softeners are not working very well lol

We’re doing well. Lily seems to be a bit more spirited than her big brothers but she’s eating well and I’ve gotten a little sleep today. Her bilirubin is a little high but not worrisome yet. I’m not sure if we’ll be going home tomorrow or Friday yet.

  35. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyLayneAZ: just curious but I guess because of a c-section you don’t have to do antibiotics? That + pain meds always mess me up in the gut. If you still have problems you might try probiotics/ yogurts, etc. maybe?

@JennyPenny: Ha spirited. What a nice way to put it. Ya I’m curious how long I’ll stay in, guessing a couple days. Talked to ob the other day that said they are fine with releasing most moms after 24 hrs, but apparently the pediatricians don’t like letting the baby go that quickly. Especially for first time mom’s.

  36. JennyPenny

    nectarine / 2460 posts

@Bmaja: I can see that. I think if we stay an extra night it’ll be to check on baby. I haven’t gotten back her 2nd bilirubin score but I’m also a bit worried because she’s only peed once in the past 30 hrs or so. I’d like to make sure she’s getting what she needs from me before heading home.

  37. JennyLayneAZ

    nectarine / 2690 posts

@Bmaja: they gave me iv antibiotics for 24 hours after birth, which is apparently not common from what i gather but something my Dr does as part of her protocol. I'll keep the probiotics and yogurt in mind, thank you I hadn't even thought of that.

    @JennyPenny: thinking of you guys!

  38. Bmaja

    cherry / 134 posts

@JennyPenny: I feel like that sounds not far off. Their little stomachs are tiny - but ya the only way to get bilirubin out is pee. And sun exposure? Or the lights. Why does breastfeeding have to be so full of uncertainty!

@JennyLayneAZ: Hope it helps. It’s easy to forget about taking care of yourself. Can some one remind me in a few weeks!! Hahahaha.

We’re home! My parents are keeping the boys an extra night so we have some time just the 3 of us. I don’t think I’m really ready for the chaos tomorrow will bring 😬 It feels like my milk is coming in today which is good. Should help with the wet diapers. I just peaked at my incision site though and it looks rough. Worse than I remember the other one looking. Guess we’ll see what happens as swelling goes down...
