@.twist.: LOL! He is small, but gained back his birth weight 3 days post birth so that was good. We're trying hard to make sure he gains weight. We're currently supplementing with Neosure formula to help him gain weight since my milk didn't come in till 3 days later, and currently at 5 days post birth, I don't produce much. About 40mL. I'm pumping and feeding him my milk via a bottle since he's struggling to latch since he's so small.

How are you doing?! How's breastfeeding going?

@lawbee11: No problem! Thanks for putting these other mommas at ease!!

I'll definitely post pictures later! He looks like a lil old man. haha!

@Mrs D: I would call your dr and see if they'll check you out. Maybe do an NST monitor on you to see if they are contractions or not?

I had my 37 week appt today, I thought they would do a cervical as they said last week that some start them at 36 with the swab.. but he didn't do one. He said I was negative for the swab, my BP was great. I measured at 34, last week I was 36.5 so I guess I dropped. He said that at the 38 week appt they offer to do a membrane sweep, so I said, definitely lets do it, so I'll have that next week. It was kind of nice, he was like, you look fantastic, you've really taken care of yourself and your weight gain is perfect ( at almost 25 pounds? haha I thought it was a bit much, but whatever, )It's nice to hear a Dr say you look good and are doing well. Kinda just relaxes me a bit and makes me hope the delivery will be smooth sailing. I 100% contribute his remarks to not having worked for the last 8 weeks though.

I think I was having some contractions last night. I'd get strong period like cramps that would last for a few minutes then be gone for a while.. like 10 -15 mins? then come back. Not sure, like @Mrs D if it's braxton hicks or contractions. But what confused me if they were real or not was the length of the cramping? It would be for a few minutes and I'm not sure if real contractions last that long? Oh well.

@Alivoo01: Glad to see you guys are home and enjoying your little bundle of love. Sounds like you had a relatively nice delivery as well, so that's really nice to hear.

I haven't had any cervical checks yet, and asked one of the doctors if I would be getting them soon. His response was that they only do it if they are trying to figure out of you're in labor because it doesn't change anything about the care they provide, so it looks like I won't be getting any until its go time!

@Alivoo01: Congratulations!! I'm happy to hear you and your baby boy are doing well!

I had another appt today, and didn't agree with the nurse that I was 3.5 to 4. He said the outside is probably 3.5-4 but the inside is more like a 2.5, but he said he could stretch it pretty good. I'll tell you that was pretty damn uncomfortable, and I've had my membranes swept before, today was worse. He told me that if I do that again to make sure it's next Saturday because he's on call He timed the contractions while I was in there too, still 3 minutes apart, I didn't even have to mention them.

I've been drinking red raspberry leaf tea, and I think it tastes a lot like English breakfast tea, not bad at all. I gasped at the price ($18/lb) but a medium bag cost less than a dollar! I think I'll bump it up to 3 times a day instead of twice. It does bring on some smaller contractions, but not labor inducing for me.

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@StbHisMrs: Let me know if you notice a difference with the 3x a day tea. I'm drinking one BIG glass a day (probably equal to 2+ mugs of tea), and don't know if I should amp it up or not.

Had a bout of some WEIRD cramping last night. Very strange pressure, starting low in my pelvis and sort of wrapping around my back. DH was like "This is it, you're in labour," and started getting all excited. The 'waves' lasted for about 1/2 hour, coming and going, and then I fell asleep. So I'm thinking my body's just gearing up for go-time. I'm 38 weeks today, so any time would be okay.

@Mrs D: I have no idea if what you are feeling is real contractions or BH cause I have been feeling some strange things, too, and I am just as confused as you are! Yours sound more like real contractions to me with the wrapping around, though. I would probably call your OB if I were you. When is your next appointment? If they are real contractions I think they will want to give you something to stop them or at least monitor you since you are only 34w. My OB told me they wouldn't stop labor after 37w, but probably would before then.

@StbHisMrs: I'm going to start drinking my red raspberry leaf tea tomorrow! I am glad it doesn't taste awful.

@Alivoo01: I have been waiting to hear from you to know how everything went! Though, I totally understand you not posting on here. You kinda have your hands full now! lol. I am so glad everything turned out well and that everything went as easily as it sounds. I can't wait to see pictures!

@lawbee11: I am getting them too. It is driving me nuts because I know it is just BH because of how irregular they are but, ugh... they hurt. I mean, in the scheme of things they aren't bad but when I am just enjoying relaxing and am hit with cramps that are going nowhere I get grumpy. Poor Mr. Hedgie has to deal with my grumpiness. It is still early for us, 35+2 so I am not too concerned.

Oh! So we finally have the nursery almost done. I just have to add the final little touches and organize stuff into our shelves and drawers. But, my goal with her rooms was to make it pink but not TOO pink... I failed. I failed so unbelievably bad! I still like it but Good God it is pink! Now I just have to plead with God not to surprise me with extra parts when she is born!

How far along are you guys with the nurserys? Is everybody done? Anybody have pictures? I love seeing baby rooms lately!

  12. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@lawbee11: They are so irregular (and like only 5 or 6 all day yesterday) that I am not too worried. I go back in Tuesday morning and I am sure she will check me again. She actually said at where I am now (34+2 or 35+2) they likely would give me something mild to see if it stopped me but she said no one would be too concerned with me delivering at this point. Insane!!! I trust her opinion, and in reality I am likely 5-7 days ahead of where there chart has me anyways!!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Ours is basically 98% done. All I need is for DH to move the swing down to the first floor (the room is cluttered with the swing, bouncer and RnP right now. The swing I cant move so I've asked him to do it before my grandma comes to check it out this weekend. I also need to scotch guard the rocking chair - but that is easy enough! I promise I'll post pictures Friday or Saturday of the end result!!! Cant wait to see pictures of yours!!!

  13. Mrs Hedgehog

@Mrs D: I meant to attach these. This is what we have so far. There is still plenty to do. Mostly hanging stuff on the walls and either curtaining or putting doors on the closet. (The doors it had were so big they took up the entire entry way to the room) Oh, and we still have to organize all the drawers and shelves. Luckily there isn't a ton to organize! I am also wanting to get an end table for beside the glider.

@Mrs Hedgehog: Love it! We have the same storage bins! I just love them. Not trying to be a shopping enabler - but you totally need the taggies owl blanket..it would go perfect with the room!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I love all your owls and the mural! It looks adorable.

I've finished the big things for the nursery. There are a few things I need to find homes for, and we haven't put the art up on the walls yet. Also, I ordered a pouf for the foot of the rocker and it hasn't come yet. But this is it so far! I'll add more photos when I complete more

Just got a phone call from my midwife, and I have SERIOUSLY low iron - I guess normal ferritin levels are between 18-160 (and I'm a 6), and normal hemoglobin is above 120 (and I'm 101). Needless to say, she called in a script for heavy duty iron supplements for me, and I have to start eating things as high in iron as possible. Guess we're on a time crunch...38 weeks today!

@Mrs Hedgehog: So cute! Our nursery is grey and purple with owls - but we got just about the whole line of the Taggies Owl things - they are way too adorable!
@JessKas: What an awesome rocker - I think that's so cool!

@Grace: Glad to hear you read the same material! I have no problem with someone with a differing opinion, as long as they can explain to me the reason for it. I think I'll focus on skin to skin and not worry about the cord ;).

@lawbee11: I really wonder if the cervical check uncomfortable feelings are a physical thing (more space available/more lubed) or a doctor-specific thing.

@MrsB2012: Oh good, that makes me feel better, because I think I've gained around 25 pounds as well ^_^. Everyone at work says I look great, but I think that's just a thing you say to pregnant women when they're close to the end and look as big as a house!

No BH here as far as I know, just kinda chilling out at nearly 39 weeks. So surreal.

@redsmarties: Time to go all Popeye! Or bring on the steaks - delicious and baby needs it.

Well folks... I'm officially on Maternity leave. Cleaned out my office and handed over the keys this afternoon. Totally weird to know I'm probably not going back to work for a YEAR. But my coworkers took me to lunch and bought me some beautiful flowers and made me promise to visit (with baby of course). But also means baby day is SOON!

@JessKas: I love your nursery! The shelf, curtains, rocker, crib… Everything looks great.

I saw my midwife today and got a surprise ultrasound because I was measuring small. But it turns out baby is fine--estimated to be about 6.5 lbs, 56th percentile. Just hidden away in there! Anyway in all the excitement I totally forgot about and missed my breastfeeding class. I'm super unhappy about that since breastfeeding is important to me, plus I generally hate to miss stuff that I've said I will do, but I'll call tomorrow to see if I can go to a different class. This one was part of my class series though and the other one would be with all different people. Plus baby might decide to come before the other class happens!

@chanzi: Sorry you missed your class. Once you I am home from work tonight I will send you the links that they gave us in my BF'ing class just in case you cant get set up with another class. I think the class was very helpful with my comfort level with BF'ing (bc my mom and sister did not - so I have very little real life experience since support) but I cant say anything I learned was really "new information" just maybe more detailed or back story for the "why". I guess what I am trying to say is dont panic - I think you can be totally successful at BFing without the class - especially with the Bee and all the other resources on the web!

@MrsB2012: Why would +25 lbs mean that you don't look great? It's exactly where you are "supposed" to be (according to all the books). I bet you do look great and your doctor was NOT exaggerating.

@StbHisMrs: Have you been having 3 min apart contractions all this time? That seems wildly uncomfortable.

@Mrs Hedgehog: I love all the trees! So pretty. And not too pink at all!

@JessKas: Looking good! Can't wait to see it with the art up.

@redsmarties: I've had iron that low before (prepregnant). You are going to feel like a million bucks when it starts coming back up (which takes forever, so don't worry about the heavy duty pills). It was amazing how many symptoms I had from the iron deficiency.

@StrawberryBee: Agreed! I hate it when people treat me like a stupid little girl who wouldn't understand. Probably why I drive people crazy asking "why" all the time.

@Sapphiresun: So lucky. I've got three weeks left before mat leave. And they aren't replacing me, so they've been piling on the work.

@chanzi: Oh no! I hope you can get to another class. Good that Baby's looking good though (crazy to think there's 6.5 lbs of baby in there....or maybe not surprising considering how often the stretching feels like he's trying to come out the front - Aliens style.

Guess what?!?!? I think I may have gotten DH to settle on a boy name. Now, he's likely to change his mind because that's the kind of man I married, but it might be Zachary Matthew. The only bad part is that Zach sort of rhymes with our last name, but I figure he can go by Zachary if that bugs him. Yea!

@Mrs Hedgehog: LMAO at your nursery comments "it's unbelievably pink" and "pray that she doesn't come out with extra parts". I'm in love with your wall decals!

@redsmarties: FYI - iron supplements make you constipated or more so if you already are! I wasn't anemic, but my OB made me take an OTC iron supplement and I had to take Colace also to help move things along.

@JessKas: I'm envious of your wood floors!!

@Sapphiresun: Yay for maternity leave, and I will always be jealous of you ladies up North across the border with your amazing YEAR leave!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Oh my goodness, I love it!! I don't think it's too much pink at all; the trees are so nice and serene. Super jealous that you have your nursery finished. I told DH that no matter what, we HAVE to get it done this weekend, because we'll be doing newborn photos and I want the nursery to be complete for that.

@JessKas: Do I spy an Ikea ceiling shade?

@Grace: I love Zachary Matthew! I suggested Nicholas to DH last night, but he didn't respond which I assume means he didn't like it. I like Alexander but he also didn't respond to that.

Hopefully the U/S are right and we won't need a boy name, but I would like to have something in reserve, just in case!

@Grace: Love Zachary! Connor or Zachary (middle name James for either) are our boys names. DH doesn't know that we likely won't be using them this time, but filed away for later. Only problem with Zachary that gives Connor the edge is my husband goes by Matt so I think Matt/Zach are too similar. Especially since one of our front runner girls name is Natalie - which has the same sound-alike issue (or Amelia, Rebecca, Aubrey, Alexandra, Danica, Lauren... can you tell we're STILL struggling with girls names??)

    @Alivoo01: So sweet!

  33. Modern Daisy

@Grace: The fitting went okay, but I ended up ordering a size 8 in the same exact dress I wore for a wedding in january that was a size 4. I had to have the 4 taken in a lot and it still looked too big when I wore it so I'm confident the 8 won't be too small, lol!

@Alivoo01: Awww, congrats mama! Your baby is so precious, thanks for posting pics

I love everyone's nurseries!! I can't wait to see more pics. Ours is still in-process, but we should make some major headway this weekend. I've had many talks with DH about being available to help me with things instead of being at the gym or recovering from a workout all day on the weekends. That has really been slowing us down, but it shouldn't anymore! We need to complete our registry at BBB, buy a hamper from home goods and finish hanging the artwork. At that point the only step left will be moving DH's clothes out of the closets, but we can't do that until we buy our dresser which has been delayed since the IL's said they would pay for it then totally stopped mentioning it after the shower was over. I'm going to push DH to bring it back up with them this weekend so we can finally order it and move on with our lives lol!

@Alivoo01: Oh wow! He doesn't look like he's under 5 lbs at all! What a cutie.

@StrawberryBee: @Sapphiresun: Thanks! Glad to see I'm not the only one still struggling with names.

@Modern Daisy: That's got to be a little depressing to not be able to use the same dress as last time. But it's good to err on the big side. They can always take it in.

  35. Modern Daisy

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

@Grace: Oh sorry, I meant the same exact designer/style - but the color and fabric are different. Black satin in January and blush chiffon for March! It's funny because I was secretly pregnant when I wore the black gown this past Jan and now I'll be struggling to lose the baby weight by March, lol!

  36. Grace

@Modern Daisy: I had a dress (from J Crew bridesmaid line) in black shiffon...another friend asked me to be in her wedding and it was the same dress only in black silk...I have the same dress in the same color in two different fabrics! Ugh!!!

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

@Grace: Haha, yes here's to hoping! In the meanwhile at least I know I have the size 8 dress so there's no pressure. I can actually almost fit into a size 8 right now - it's just a little tight around my belly so I know for sure it will fit by March unless heavin forbid I continue to gain weight after the baby comes instead of losing it!

@Mrs D: Ah yes, the things we do for friends, right?? This dress isn't cheap either, it was $310 before shipping or alterations
