Thanks for the warm welcome everyone!
@Modern Daisy: We had told the most "important" people prior to the NT scan, but I waited to go completely public until after, just in case. Try not to worry too much about it. My doctor said 95% of the time the results to first trimester screening are negative. Of course that didn't stop me from being a nervous wreck when I went in, but maybe it will bring you some comfort.
@.twist.: Can you take your iron supplements at the same time as your prenatals or are you supposed to space them out? I'm sure you'll find a routine that works for you. I'm horrible at remembering to take pills so I usually try and do it first thing in the morning before breakfast.

@lawbee11: yay for a good appointment but boo for unsatisfactory pictures. Were they able to determine the potential sex of the baby?

@skipper2010: hm. I'm not sure. I know you're not supposed to take calcium with iron so I probably should space them out.

@Modern Daisy: We have pretty much only told immediate family and a few very close friends, because I wanted to wait until after the NT scan. We had ours today and because all of the measurements looked great, we are more comfortable telling others now (though I will probably wait a couple more weeks before announcing on Facebook). I had my blood drawn today, and I have to go back in 4 weeks to get more blood drawn, so it'll be awhile before I get the full report of my results (I will definitely be showing by the time I get the results). If my doctor had indicated any reason that we should hold off, then I would, but he said everything looks great so I feel better about telling people. Also, I think he would only do an amnio/more invasive testing if something came up in the u/s to alert him to a problem. I am not even sure if insurance would cover an amnio if the doctor doesn't say it's necessary.

@.twist.: Ugh...totally agree about the techs. I just wanted to be like look I know you do this for a living but this is really special for me! I did love seeing the movement! It kinda looked like s/he had the hiccups! It was just bouncing back and forth and even did some flips!

    GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts

@Alivoo01: I didn't ask. I know it's so early and I was worried they would guess and I would get my hopes up then they would be wrong. Plus, the tech was a biatch so I doubt she would have put any effort into figuring it out anyways. I did schedule an elective gender u/s for March 2, though! I am so excited--less than a month away!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I hear ya on the hormones! That's too funny that you threatened to puke on her. I'm about ready to puke on someone too!

Is anybody else wanting to do a gender reveal party when they find out what it is going to be? It is killing me and my family not knowing!

I don't know if I could do a whole party just for that though. I might do something fun for the family. I keep joking that since we find out right before by birthday that I am making my own cake this year to surprise everybody else with the color on the inside. (Usually my mom makes any and all cakes for the family because she is, well amazing.)

@JamieLee: I'm so sorry! Our dogs ARE our kids right now. I would be freaking out! I hope everything turns out okay.

@Mrs Hedgehog: He's acting pretty sluggish, but the vet said that was to be expected. The swelling has been going down and he's not scratching or rubbing it anymore so it must be feeling better.

I don't think I'll do a whole gender reveal party, but I want to do something fun for our families. I'll probably do the cake, because any excuse for cake, right? Hehe. I wish we could find out before DH's b-day. He's turning 30 so we're having a big party and it would be fun to reveal then, but we'll only be 16 weeks then...I don't think we'll find out until the end of March...

@JamieLee: yay for the swellling going down and no more rubbing!!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I always thought I would do one, but now that we know the gender, I'm only excited about announcing it to my family. I'm going to see them this coming weekend for Chinese New Year and plan on revealing then, but not sure how. I thought maybe I'd make a puzzle for the chinese word for boy, cut it up, and place individual pieces in red envelopes to hand out for everyone to piece back together, but the word for boy is pretty distinguisable without needing other pieces so that's kind of a bummer. I have 4 days left to decide on what to do other than just blurting it out at the family dinner. lol

@Alivoo01: could you do something else like "little man" or "male" or "son" or "mustache"?? hahaha

  12. lawbee11

    GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts

@Alivoo01: @.twist.: Or "team hot dog"?

  13. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@.twist.: @lawbee11: Male won't work bc it's the same word as boy, but son or hot dog would work!! I think hot dog would be hilarious because it'll confuse them for a second before they realize what it symbolizes. haha! Thanks ladies!

@Alivoo01: I hope you take pictures of your puzzle. I soooo want to see it! What a cute idea! Especially if you pick hot dog. It's like the August2013 bees will be in your puzzle.

@Mrs Hedgehog: Haha! You threatened to puke on her? That's awesome! What is it with people moving soooo slowly when you aren't feeling well eh?

@Mrs D: YAY! I have also been feeling good enough to do a little exercising! Feels great!

I got a call today and booked my appointment to meet with my delivering doctor! I meet with her Feb 13, which means that I will no longer see my GP! I've officially transferred over to the hospital and this new doctor. It's kind of exciting and makes things seem much more real! woot!

@Mrs D: Thanks! I always try to kinda push out in mine when I take the pic

@.twist.: Yay! That's great news! I have a couple of appointments to add to the list (no rush--whenever is convenient). I have my next OB visit on 3/8 (no u/s, just checkup and part 2 of my bloodwork). We are also having an elective gender scan on 3/2!

Hey ladies! I didn't make it onto the boards yesterday as it was super late when I got home, but baby looks great! I wasn't actually supposed to have an ultrasound but the NP couldn't get baby's heartbeat on the doppler and DH and I were freaking out. We were able to get an ultrasound and baby was just wiggling and flipping and bouncing a lot, lol. I have a disc of photos but I haven't quite figured out how to save them on my computer. Just wanted to pop in and say that everything went well! Next appointment will be on 3/4!

you guys...this is crazy...I worked out this morning, and by worked out I mean walked on a treadmill at an incline for 35 mins (so nothing crazy here) and I have been STARVING all day. I have been taking the same basic thing to work everyday but today it didn't come close to satisfying this hunger. I had to visit the vending machine...this is crazy...

Really hoping to not have gained much by the time I get to the Doctors Thursday...ugh!

@Mrs D: Yay for a bump starting to show!!

Maybe I'll post one on Friday when I take my 14 weeks picture. I'm starting to have a more prominent "bump", but it's definitely still all bloat.

Ugh. I have a cold. I slept like garbage last night and can't breathe today. I'm so heading out for some Breathe Right strips. I'm scared to take any drugs. I took a couple Tylenol for the first time yesterday due to a killer headache. Anyone else taken any OTC meds? Am I crazy to be so worried? Anyone have any amazing cold tricks?

Also-we're supposed to get 13" of snow tonight! Holy winter!

    @Mrs D: Cute bump!!

@JamieLee: I had a cold a couple of weeks ago and it was awful. I even called in sick 2 days and I never call in sick. I am an expert at being paranoid--I wouldn't even take Tylenol. The best thing I did was use a neti pot. That thing is seriously magic...I only wish I had used it sooner. It cleared me out and helped me feel better almost immediately. I highly recommend it! (You can get them at any drug store for $10-15.)

  37. Alivoo01

@JamieLee: No sudafed bc that'll raise your blood pressure, but Tylenol Cold was an approved drug on my list of meds the OB gave me!

Oh wow okay, I just got back from a marathon Dr.'s appointment. He was running 2 hours behind, but at least the nurses were able to do my glucose test and genetic bloodwork while I was waiting. Man did they take a lot of blood! There were probably 15 vials and I had to eat a snack so I wouldn't pass out.

The ultrasound was good, I am measuring about 3 days ahead and the heartbeat was 163. The baby was moving a lot during the ultrasound, it looked like a lot of bouncing and the head moved from one end to the other while we were poking around.

After all that I went to a different wing of the hospital and got my finger prick. Next week is my NT scan and I will have all the results that day! Then my next checkup is March 1st!

@Modern Daisy: Boo for the late appointment but YAY for good results!
