@msmay: call your insurance and inquire about "durable medical equipment"...you get a Rx from your dr for it and usually have to take it to a medical supply store. You usually cant get it until after you have the baby and I found this morning that my insurance only covers a single electric pump but I can pay the difference for the double. Score!!!
I have had two instances where I thought maybe I felt the baby - but still not sure. At only 16W its still early for me!
Doctors appointment went well! Heart Rate is 154 (nice and fast!) and all my risk levels from my NT were 1 in greater than 10K - so super happy about that! They took blood to finish the quad screen (spinabifida - sp?) and I scheduled my anatomy scan for the same day as my next appt (Apr 11) - woohoo!

@Mrs D: I have Lindsey Brins pregnancy fitness DVD and Summer Sanders. They're both broken up by trimester which is cool. The Summer Sanders one is nice because she does a lot of strength training and work with a resistance band. Lindsey Brins workout is good too because she alternates between cardio and toning. Lindseys workout is safe and I work up a sweat.
@redsmarties: As far as exercise goes I think the hardest part is getting started! If you and your hubby were both gifted the gym memberships then you could use each other for motivation. I've always wanted a gym partner. It's so much easier to get your butt off the couch when you have someone to do it with!
AFM 20 weeks today!! Halfway there!! Yikes!

@Mrs D: I will definitely be doing this! Thank you!! And YAY for a good appointment!
@skipper2010: I've been thinking about checking out some DVDs. I've just been walking but I want to do something else. I will check these out!

Ok I think there are three of you that find out gender today...is that correct?! Let me know what times your appointments are (and time zone!) so I can make sure to stalk HB!!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@lawbee11: eep! 1:30 MST! I think I worked it out and redsmarties and I end up finding out at the same time due to time zones!!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
Sorry I have been a little MIA, things are really busy at work so HB has sadly been put on the back burner.
I just want to chime in and say that I feel really fat. I've gained 6 lbs, which I know is still normal for 16 weeks and nothing to be alarmed about, but I am only 5'1" and started out at 102 lbs, so 6 lbs on me is a lot. I haven't been this weight in years and I worked really hard to lose it and keep it off when I was tipping the scales at over 130lbs. It's not just belly and boobs either, sure those are getting huge but why is my butt suddenly expanding like crazy? If one more mom says something to me along the lines of "Oh I barely gained any weight until the last month" or "I was all boobs and belly and wore non maternity clothes the whole time" I'm going to scream. Why do they say these things to pregnant women? It's not a contest and it does nothing but make me feel bad because they 'managed their weight' better.
Last night my hair stylest said I look 'fuller' and further along than almost 4 months. I wanted to punch her. She's always been like that, she also asked me how much I paid for our apartment and all kinds of personal questions, but the fact that I'm already self conscious about how huge I'm getting made it a million times worse.
Pity party for one here! I would really like some whine with my cheese as well, but I'm pregnant

@Mrs D: Yay for a awesome appt and great test results!!
@skipper2010: 20 weeks! Woohoo!! Half way there!!!!
@lawbee11: My appt is at 4pm CST.
@Modern Daisy: Girl!!! You're not alone in this weight gain battle. Like you, I have to work uber hard to maintain my happy weight. One bad weekend of food easily adds on like 5lbs. Sigh. I'm 19 weeks, and have gained 10lbs! *super sad face*. I'm also short (5'2") so I can totally relate. Make that a pity party for 2 please!!

WoOt! for everyone finding out gender today! Good luck and have fun!
@Modern Daisy: I've been swamped at work recently too, so I get it. Your hairstylist should just get a grip. (Sorry, nosy people irk me.) The midwives at the practice I go to are constantly reminding me that weight comes on so differently from woman to woman. Your weight may come on a certain way now, slow down, shift, etc. I know it's tough, but you are growing a human and you deserve some slack! Ignore all those "perfect pregnancy" people. They are irritating and probably had uncontrollable gas the entire time. Hang in there, Mama!

Ok I just bought 3 DVD's...hopefully I can get into a treadmill routine for 3-4 mornings a week (if my sleeping ever improves) and then add in a DVD twice a week! Once its summer DH and I will take Ms Lola on long walks around the neighborhood in place of the treadmill!
I'm on the weight train too! I dropped 17 lbs for my wedding (weight 140 and loved how I looked) - steadily gained 10-12 back thanks to lots of work traveling. I started this pregnancy at 152 - and now am at 162 at only 16 W...EEK! Oh well - it is what it is!

@Mrs Hedgehog: No movement for me yet. I'm not expecting it until around 20 weeks. That way I won't be disappointed if I don't feel it sooner!
@Modern Daisy: I'm sorry you are feeling discouraged. I had that moment yesterday too, when I found a pic of me from 2008 and realised that I have put on weight. Boooo. BUT!!! 108 is such a teeny weight - I'm sure you look amazing!
@Alivoo01: Ditto for you! I've seen your profile pic. 10 lbs wouldn't stop you from looking good!

Thanks for the encouraging words everyone! It's nice to know I'm not alone here. And like I said above, I know that everything is find and gaining 6 lbs so far is totally healthy, I'm just having a hard time adjusting. It's probably because I used to be overweight and worked super hard to get where I was, I am pretty sensitive to this weight gain. Not that I am starving myself in response, I totally had a ham & cheese croissant this morning and a huge portion of spaghetti with meatballs for dinner last night!

Did you do the whole road to Hana thing?
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Mrs D: Yeah. I want to go there and live there forever. We did the Road to Hana over 2 days. We started late, so there wasn't as much traffic, stayed in Hana overnight and came back the following day. So many waterfalls. I found there was lots to do - although, it doesn't surprise me that there was more in Italy.

@.twist.: Yayy! So cute!! Congrats on your hot dog!! Are your stepsons excited that it's a boy?!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@lawbee11: Thanks :). They don't actually know I'm pregnant yet. We have been having issues with their mother so the timing has been less than ideal.
Part of me wanted a girl to have some difference between the step kids and my kid. So far the responses I've gotten from DH's side have been "Another boy? Really?". So I've been sitting here crying because they don't seem happy.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@.twist.: HOORAY FOR A BOY! Congrats!
So...this is hilarious, and proof of my obsession/pregnancy crazy.
We went to our ultrasound, and after all of the measurements and everything, the tech wouldn't even give us a guess on gender. Baby's foot was lodged in between her legs. I was SO disappointed, that I nearly cried in the waiting room. (Yes, baby is healthy, and I was thrilled...but I was sad that we didn't know).
So...because I'm a loser, and NEEDED to know...I called a 3D ultrasound place that was on our way home, and oh-so-casually asked if she had any appointments for tonight. She's like "If you can get here in 20 minutes, its all yours." So we MOTORED down the highway, and made it in 20 minutes.
She took us into a room with a huge flat screen, and while we only paid for the cheapest package, gave us probably 30 minutes of checking baby out. When her legs stayed crossed, she gave me a juice box and made me roll around a bit. She took probably 40 photos, labelled them all, and kept going until she was sure that it was a girl.
I love that ultrasound lady. She just made my entire night. And DH is SO happy that he's getting his little girl (except...the tech kept saying 'labia' over and over, and now he keeps belting LABIA at the top of his lungs. Creep).
Anyways...that's my insanely long gender scan story! (Totally worth the 75$)
pomegranate / 3329 posts
@Modern Daisy: I am right there with you on the weight gain, I'm up 3lbs from my LAST pre-pregnancy weight, so that put me at 97 and I'm only 4'10.5", now I'm up 7lbs!! It shows, my butt is expanding, my arms and my thighs. Boo.
@redsmarties: So exciting, I can't wait to find out!!
@.twist.: That is adorable, so exciting!!
I've popped and I can't believe my boss hasn't said anything yet, I'm really trying to hold out telling him until our anatomy scan on the 28th. I'm living in sweaters, but even my loose ones are getting tight! I need to buy some maternity clothes but a couple things came up this past month and ate up our disposable monthly income
The dizziness has finally let up for the most part, it was bad around 16-17 weeks! I've been feeling movement really low and up beside my belly button, my dh thinks I'm having twins because of that and how big I'm getting. The very first u/s showed a crazy high heartbeat of (185) and while we were in the waiting room I googled that and it said it was pretty normal for twins *gasp*, so that'll be my first question at the scan, followed by BOY or GIRL! I'm leaning towards boy, we have 3 girls and one boy, (2 girls are his from a prev. marriage, the boy is mine from a prev. marriage).
GOLD / watermelon / 14076 posts
@.twist.: that's totally understandable. We just told my stepkids a few weeks ago (mostly because we wanted to put off telling their mom as long as possible, but she's been surprisingly civil). The girls wanted a girl and the boy wanted a boy, so 2 out of 3 are really excited that we're team burger! Oh and screw your DH's side. I hate how people act like you have any say in the matter! I would be upset if people reacted that way too, but just try to brush it off. You're going to love your little boy so much!!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@redsmarties: Yay! Congrats! Great story!

@StbHisMrs: Ha! Twins would be wild. Have you not had an ultrasound yet?
@redsmarties: Congrats! That's an awesome story to tell your little girl one day! Maybe not the LABIA!!!! part....
@.twist.: Yea for your little boy! His family will come around, especially after they see how cute he is.

@.twist.: some people are so thoughtless! I'm sure your boy will be amazing and unique and so special. Don't let some narrow minded people steal your enjoyment of the moment. Congrats on your boy!! Hugs
I didn't realize that so many of us had step kids.
@redsmarties: wow, what a cool end to the day! Congrats!! We need pics
@StbHisMrs: twins would be crazy!
