Ok ladies...had a LONG conversation with my girlfriend last night who is like queen of all things baby (she is a social worker who helps 'at risk' to be moms transition into motherhood) and here is what we decided on the stroller/car seat situation:
-Stroller: B-Agile
-Umbrella Stroller: Chicco Ultra Lightway Stroller (although if BBB starts carrying the Uppa G-Luxe I may be tempted)
-Extra Frame: BabyTrend Snap N Go
-Car Seat: Britax B-Safe (w/ 3 bases - me, DH, In Laws)
The other big stuff I picked out this weekend was:
-Fisher Price Snug a Bunny (Rock N Play, Swing, Bouncer, Play mat)
-Medela Pump in Style
-Summer Infant Complete Coverage (comes with a handheld standard size screen and a 7" LCD screen - I think this is awesome! especially for middle of the night so you can really SEE what is going on)
I feel like that covers most of the big stuff...obviously there is a ton of little stuff we'll need to register for also - but this is our start! Thought I'd share...anyone else make any decisions they want to share?

@.twist.: oh yes I have had many dizzy spells the last couple weeks. I also feel short of breath even when I'm not doing anything physical. You are not alone!
@Mrs D: wow you are on the ball! I'll just copy your list we haven't really thought about this stuff. Our plan is to get our gear In June and July when we are off for the summer (work in schools). Luckily my SIL will be giving us some stuff because she I finished having kiddies herself. I do want to buy some new stuff too though. Thanks for sharing your list!

@.twist.: Oh no! That's so scary, but thankfully you were sitting!! I get dizzy if I get up too fast when I'm laying down or have been sitting for an extended amount of time.
@Mrs D: That's an awesome list you've already purchased!!

@.twist.: yup - this happens to me a few times a week, its terrible and frightening!

@Alivoo01: Oh I haven't purchased this stuff yet - just planning out my registry!

@.twist.: I have definitely felt light headed and faint, but not to the extent you felt this morning. You poor thing! The what to expect book says to put your head between your legs, like you're reaching down for something when that happens.

@delight: @Alivoo01: @Mrs D: @Modern Daisy: Thanks ladies! It was pretty freaky. I was waving at my face, panicking to unzip my coat and sweating and I'm sure I looked distressed. About 4 people were watching me and no one asked if I was ok! haha. thankfully I, obviously, was but sheesh.

@Mrs D: Okay, I'm sorry. I misread your picked out as picked up! Guess daylight savings affects adults too! Anyone else struggling with losing an hour of sleep?!
@.twist.: Oh wow!! That's is worrisome! What if you needed assistance, at what point would someone step in and inquire???
pineapple / 12802 posts
@Alivoo01: Probably not until after I passed out! People are really funny.

@.twist.: no dizzy spells here, that must have been scary!
@Mrs D: I will probably change my mind again, but currently the plan is:
- Stroller (for me): Graco FastAction Fold Sport Click Connect
- Carseat: Graco SnugRide Click Connect 35
(http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18244776)
- Stroller (for my husband): Graco FastAction Fold Click Connect Jogger Stroller
(http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=18046766)
-Fisher Price Snug a Bunny (Rock N Play, Swing)
-Medela - not sure if it'll be pump in style or freestyle; it'll depend on if insurance covers it. I won't find out until July I think (my insurance renews at weird times)
- video monitor: Foscam
- motion sensor: Pneo Snuza Baby Monitor, Hero
Haven't chosen a pack n play yet.

@redsmarties: @Delight: @Alivoo01, @Strawberrybee: Thanks!
@.Twist.: Oh, totally go. It's such a fun store.
I get dizzy all the time. I go up a flight of stairs, I have to sit down. Church in the morning is the worst. Somehow, the stand up, sit down, stand up etc., really gets to me. It's got to do with low blood pressure. I've mentioned it several times to my drs an neither was concerned. At all. And not very sympathetic either.
@Mrs D: Nice list! I've got some things picked out, but I'm staying on the fence because a lot will have to do with what is on sale. For example, our glider went on sale for 30% off, so we snatched it up.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@StrawberryBee: Dont you just love the Snug a Bunny stuff? Its so cute! As for the medela - my gf did the free style first and found that it was more convenient (being hands free and all) but that it took twice as long to pump with it. So she returned it and got the pump in style.
@Alivoo01: Day light savings kicked my ass! I snoozed for an hour this AM!

@Grace: Love the diaper bag!! Super cute!
@.twist.: Ugh sorry about your dizzy spell! I have had moments where I am lightheaded if I stand up too quickly, but nothing like you described. Hopefully it was a one-time thing!
@Mrs D: Looks like you have lots of awesome stuff on there!
DH and I actually went to BRU and began our registry on Friday night (we have plans/will be out of town for the next 3-4 weekends, so we wanted to get a jump on it). It was a great time to go because the store was empty. DH loved working the little scanner thing, too, so he was content. Registering is so overwhelming! We were there for almost 2 hours. I was convinced we had 100 things on our registry--nope, at the end I asked DH and there were only 39 things! We walked up and down every aisle. There are a few things I want to research further, but we're pretty much done with that one. I also started an Amazon registry for stuff that they don't sell in store at BRU. It was a busy weekend for registry stuff!

@.twist.: Oh man. That'd be no bueno!!
@Grace: I have really low blood pressure also (normally around 90/60) and the doctor said she wasn't concerned with it as long as I don't get dizzy spells. If those happen, I should let her know.

@Mrs D: I absolutely adore the snug a bunny line :3. Neutral and sweet! We actually already own the swing; got it new in box from someone on Craigslist for a good price. It went on sale on Amazon for as low as $100 maybe a month ago. It's sitting in the box in my living room because I desperately want to set it up but know I'll just end up washing cat and dog fur out of it. I don't want the cats to get used to sleeping in it, either.
Thanks for the heads up on freestyle vs. pump in style!
My MIL is so sweet. When we went over their house yesterday she had a pink crib sheet, a one piece outfit from Carter's, and a small stuffed lamb that she gave me for the baby.
Then she reminded me that I had to remove the hang tag before giving the plush lamb to the baby ;).

@Mrs D: FYI, there's one left of the Snug a bunny bouncer on no better deal right now!:

@lawbee11: Thanks! Ugh, I am not looking forward to registering!
@Grace: Their baby shoe section kills me!!!! heh, Well, at least I know what my doctor will most likely say!

Question: who has pets and what are you planning to do to prepare them for babies arrival?
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@JamieLee: We have a puggle (see picture below - I think everyone should include a picture of their pets because I love seeing peoples furbabies!) We are planning to do the blanket trick (have DH or my dad bring a blanket by the house while I am still in the hospital with LO) and basically just monitor her very closely the first few days. We have a dog walker currently (who we plan to continue 2 to 3 times a week even when I am on mat leave) so she feels she still gets her good quality walks with her BFF dog walker!
Other than that - we aren't too concerned, she is very inquisitive about babies (though she has not been allowed to be up close and personal with one) but she understand her boundaries and I have no fears of biting. Scratching I do worry about but we'll just cross that bridge when we get there...
Here is Ms. Lola Lynn...(covered in mud because she loves to roll in the stuff)
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: I'm planning on the blanket thing too. We have a six and a half year old gentle giant Golden/shepherd mix, and I'm really not worried about him at all. He's such a pushover and his favorite things to do are sleep on the couch and be petted.
We also have a 6 month old kitten. I'm a little more worried about her because she's a little crazy, but she's been snuggling with the big guy sleeping on the couch a lot, so I think she's starting to calm down.
My friend had her one year old here a couple weeks ago, and both fur babies did great. The kitty even was gently liking the baby's fingers and didn't react when she pulled her tail.
Here's Hudson and Ruby snuggling on the couch:
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@JamieLee: Ya - sadly they know they are too cute and pull crap like rolling in mud! Lola has been good with all kids she has been around (mostly 2 years and up). When my nephew came by as an infant my sister would not let him out of his carrier - so she was just obsessed with him because he was the forbidden fruit. She does get excited with little ones sometimes and will put both her paws on their chest to lick them and inadvertently knock them down - but its not malicious and usually after it happens once she is paranoid if they cry!
BTW - Hudson and Ruby are adorable! Like look like BFFs!

@Mrs D: @JamieLee: OMG! Too cute. Ya'll have adorable pets.
We have a 11 year old rotti/pit mix (Bronx), and he's also a big push over. I'm not worried about him at all. The minute I tell him something is "mine" he leaves it alone and goes to sleep. He's so good with kids also.
I have a cat who's 7 (Nat) and I'm a little more worried about him, but I think he'll be happier hiding from the baby than getting in it's face! I think we're just going to wing it.
Here they are:

@JamieLee: we have a 2 year old black lab who is a huge sook. She is practically glued to me most of the time we are home and is overall well behaved but does pull a bit on walks. We have a gentle leader that keeps her in check, but I'm curious to see how she will cope with walking by the stroller (I'm really hoping that she, LO and I can go for lots of walks during my mat leave!) We'll also do the blanket trick.
Here she is this past Halloween!

@Mrs D: That wish list sounds similar to mine, minus the monitors. LOVE the B-Agile. And the SnugaBunny stuff is cute, too.
We're not starting a registry for another little while (we find out gender Thursday, but are busy the next few weekends), but I love looking at all the possibilities.
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@.twist.: So cute! Love that Bronx looks like he is smiling in the picture!
@Ocean girl: Is that a hippo costume? So adorable! I too am hoping for lots of walks with my pup and LO during Sept but Lola is terrible on a leash - lucky she is only 20 lbs so when I use her harness I can control her well!
kiwi / 637 posts
@Mrs D: it's totally a hippo costume! Yes, I'm *that* dog owner!!! She loved wearing it, which was the best part! Sophie hates the harness, but tolerates the gentle leader. She's just over 60 lbs so can really pull me if she wants!
clementine / 930 posts
@Ocean girl: love the costume. Hudson has been a pumpkin in the past, but I don't think he enjoyed it. He also pulls pretty good on walks, and we tried the Gentle Leader with no luck. He kept trying to rub his face on the ground to get it off. Maybe I'll try again this summer...
kiwi / 637 posts
@JamieLee: yeah, Soph does that with her face too, especially in the snow. But after she realizes the walk is going to be longer than 15 minutes, she gets more into the walk itself and less fixated on the GL.
Another thing about Sophie - after we named her, we regretted not saving the name for a future daughter! We both love it, mostly because she has such a great personality and we associate the name with that. Never again will I name an animal with a people name!!!
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: I've tried a chest harness with Hudson. It helps him not choke himself, but I think it gives him more pulling power! He's 97 pounds, and most of his power is in his chest, so I feel like it just concentrates the power!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Alivoo01: @.twist.: Thanks! I know, it was so sweet of her :3.
@JamieLee: I...have no real plan? lol I have three dogs and two cats. I think the cats will be more of an issue than the dogs, just because they'll have more access, and my husband is allergic to all of them so I'm deathly afraid the baby will be as well. My one dog (the white one in the pics below) has become somewhat clingy lately. I wonder if she can tell.
And just because I can't resist, the last shot is a neat head shot I had done. Being involved in agility means getting access to photographers who want to practice by taking photos of your dogs ^_^.

@StrawberryBee: love that headshot. What a personality...you can just see it in the photo. Do all three dogs do agility?

I love all your pets! My DH is not a pet lover, so I'm not allowed to have anything...but I would love a cat!!
One week until my anatomy scan! I am getting anxious because its been more than 3 weeks since I've heard the HB and still no movement. All of a sudden time is going by slowly but I am sure that will change after I see LO again.
DH and I are off to spend a couple nights at a Casino hotel and do a couple days of shopping in the states. I just need a couple days away to relax and not cook and clean!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@JamieLee: I started out with the white one (she's a Japanese Spitz), but while she loved the sport she hated the socialization aspect of it. She would get really stressed out if other people were watching her while she ran. Eventually I stopped running her, and she's much happier just chilling with me on the sidelines.
Then I started playing with the sheltie, and hooboy, she's fun to run :). I can tell she does it all for me, but she has a good time doing it. My goal was to get her championship title before I got pregnant, and we succeeded in September ^_^. 120 qualifying runs!
The yorkie/bichon mix was a surprise dog from my inlaws, so I knew we wanted to have a baby in the next few years and I didn't want to create the desire to do agility in another dog without being able to fulfill it. Also, terriers aren't my type of dog. She's completely capable of it physically, and it would have been fun to try teacup agility with her if I'd applied myself. Maybe later! She's young, only 2 and a half.
@delight: Have fun, and before you know it your anatomy scan will be here!

OMG! I'm in love with all the pet pictures!! All my pet pictures are on the laptop at home, which I hardly ever use. Boo!!
