@JamieLee: Oh dang!! under 30 the past 5 months?! No thank you!! haha!

Ok I've been away for a few days so it might be hard to catch up. Lots of exciting news around here!

@mrs. peep: welcome! I was a late comer to this board too, and everyone here is great! I am strictly in mat pants now...belly bands I only used for a couple weeks during my bloated phase!

@.twist. And @redsmarties. Congrats on your gender results! How exciting!!

Oh man it is way too hard to respond to everyone now that the posts are on a new page! Someone was asking about Burlington Coat Factory...I didn't even know they had mat clothes and I was just near one in the States. Dang! My fav store has been H&M for mat clothes.

On our mini vacation We bought grey and yellow chevron baby bedding from Target. I was so happy to find it. Our nursery will be a yellow & grey theme. Has anyone else decided on nursery design?

Ooo, I'll play, since I'm so new.
    Anniversary: 8/23/08
First Dance Song (or your song as a couple): Stand By Me
    Honeymoon Location: Puerto Vallarta, MX
Furthest Place you have traveled: Either Sweden or Italy, not sure which was further!
Favorite Place you have traveled: Turks and Caicos or Tuscany
Favorite Food (non preg): Snow crab legs. Or Mexican.
    Favorite Season: Spring into Summer.

Thanks for all the thoughts on Belly bands. I wore one today for the first time and I liked it. I have one pair of maternity jeans that were given to me from my SIL and fit like a glove but the belly part is a bit baggy still. Only a matter of time, I suppose! I am not running to buy maternity jeans because the summers here in CT are brutal and I don't foresee wearing jeans much in my third trimester! It's going to be the summer of the Maxi Dress!
I've been doing Tracy Anderson's Pregnancy Project and I like it. Anyone else?
Also, anyone else dealing with Sacroiliac Joint Pain? Started with me around 15 weeks. I'm debating the chiropractor, unless any of you have tried something else that worked (ie. physical therapy, acupuncture, etc). Thanks! Enjoying getting caught up with this group. It's much more pleasant than babycenter.

edited to share my excitement that my SIL just gave us the crib she used. It's still in wonderful condition and is a nice, simple clean slate. Is it bad luck to set it up now?

@delight: yellow and grey is my top contender for a girl, followed by aqua and coral. For a boy, I'm planning something rustic with a faux barn door behind the crib. My nursery Pinterest board is exploding!

  5. JamieLee

    clementine / 930 posts

@mrs. peep: agreed that this site is so much nicer than babycenter. There's way too many people on that site and some of them are just catty and rude!

@mrs. peep: SI joint pain - YES! Mine was absolutely debilitating for about 6 weeks, starting at around 11 weeks. Its still bad, but now that the swelling has gone down, I am finding it easier to cope. Not sure how things will go once my belly gets bigger. I saw a chiropractor about 10 times, and it helped at the time, but not long term. Hopefully it gets better for you soon!

@JamieLee: Aqua and coral are (almost definitely) our accent colours. The walls are grey stripes, so once I find some bedding/a crib sheet that I like, we'll go with that.

@lawbee11: That's nice that she's not too hard to deal with. I wish I could say the same about ours. We're in the middle of trying (the mediated way!) to get the boys full time/full guardianship because she's just not competent.

@mrs. peep: I've been wearing bella bands for a couple weeks now and I LOVE them! I have two, a black and a white and can pretty much make them go with everything. I'm hoping to stay in them for as long as possible until I can wear shorts and then I might get some mat shorts & sun dresses!

@delight: Grey and yellow (and an aqua type colour) are our colours too! They must be super popular right now. We're doing a forest/night creatures (fox, raccoon, owl, etc.) theme!

@Alivoo01: @Grace: Our last u/s was at 7-8 weeks, when the high heartbeat was revealed, they didn't spend a lot of time looking at the baby though.

@StrawberryBee: I think I'd pass out if they told me we're having twins. You scored, what a great haul!!

    @mrs.peep: Welcome

@JamieLee: Your nursery sounds like it's going to be gorgeous!! I love all those color combinations!

@redsmarties: How did you get the swelling down? from what the chiropractor was doing? I've been in pain daily for almost a week now. : /

  10. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@mrs. peep: Honestly, the chiropractor helped a little, but the swelling finally went away on its own and things got much better.

DH and I went out tonight, and he was SO funny. He picked up all sorts of things and was like "I'm buying this for my daughter." Luckily, he put a few things back. But this is what we ended up with (he picked it all). The popsicle sleeper is what he thinks she will wear home from the hospital (we'll see).

@redsmarties: So cute! Love that he picked those out!

Today is test paint color day in the nursery! Trying out two light greens and one yellow! Also testing the yellow and a light grey/purple in our guest bedroom since we'll be painting it as well! Loving not having morning sickness anymore!

@Mrs D: Oh gosh, we've been trying out test colours. We want a light green room with darker green stripes over the peaked ceiling. We have soooooooo many test pots in the house. I didn't think finding the perfect green would be so hard!! Right now we are looking at this combo (pic from the Behr app, not my house). What do you think? I can't decide.

  13. Mrs. Oatmeal

@Grace: I LOVE those greens! I hope they turn out well for you!

As a housewarming gift from MIL, we had a decorator come over and pick colours for us. I mentioned that I wanted grey for the nursery, so she picked three greys, and we're going to do three big stripes (one in each colour). We've got the lines taped out, but haven't started to paint yet. So excited to get that done!

    @Mrs D: Have fun testing!

@mrs. peep: welcome! better late than never and I'm due on the 25th so we're one day apart!

And I've been using the bella bands since week 9 or 10. They've been pretty good but are starting to get to the point where they bunch up I only have one pair of maternity jeans so far but I may be needing more soon!

@JamieLee: @.twist.: @delight: lol we're all going to end up with similar colors! DH and I have been tossing around yellow/gray with either aqua, navy, or burnt orange

@Grace: I think multiple tones of green could look so cool! Good luck!

@redsmarties: Oh wow, that is a wonderful gift!!!! And I LOVE that dress with the cardigan. SO ADORABLE!

DH and I are test driving cars this weekend. The mazda CX-5, honda CR-V, and toyota RAV4 are the top contenders. Any thoughts?

  16. .twist.

@Grace: I love the double greens and those ones are really nice!

@redsmarties: Awesome little outfits! SO CUTE. I just went and picked up a few, I'll have to take a pic right away here and share it. Got some real cute summer items!

@msmay: haha, well, I must say your colour choices sound impeccable! I may be biased but I think they're great colours! haha. Also, I have no advice on the vehicle. I haven't driven any of those. However, I do have a little Mazda protege and it's been a great car for me. I am also really biased towards Toyota's because I think they're fantastic vehicles (we drive a Lexus, which is ultimately Toyota!). I probably will never get any other vehicle besides a Toyota.

Looks like @.twist.: can take the question mark off the gender. We are having a GIRL! My mom even surprised us with a bag full of pink stuff since she "knew" it was going to be a girl. Everybody is super excited and Mr. Hedgie can't stop saying "my baby girl" when talking about the baby. Its so cute. Everybody also LOVES her name and it made my mom and grandma cry because they both share a middle name that they will have to share even further since LO will have it too!

Her name will be Kaia Lynn. So excited to start picking out girl stuff!!!

@.twist.: I've only ever driven Nissans and my MINI so I'm definitely curious to see how the Toyota and Mazda ride. I've heard some good things! I initially had the Nissan Rogue on the list (it's comparable to the others) but it has the least cargo space and the worst gas mileage so I ruled it out.

And to all the lovely ladies who have posted on the bump thread: YOU LOOK GREAT!!! I was so excited to see August mamas there!!!! I still kind of look like I just participated in a hot dog contest, so I'll probably wait another couple of weeks before I post. I can't wait to join you all!

We started working on the nursery today! And by we, I mean DH and FIL. They cleared the room out, tore up the carpeting, and rescrewed the subfloor to cut back on creaking. DH also painted the ceiling, and the hardwood goes in tomorrow! So excited!

@lawbee11: proud to be your baby-stuff-buying enabler

@delight: I'll post my nursery inspiration pic in a bit, but my colors are aqua on the walls (Valley Mist by Behr) with touches of pink and coral ^_^. Sounds like it's a popular color combo! If baby had been a boy the colors would have been aqua with touches of green and yellow. The theme is shaping up to be birds? But really it's just kind of evolving that way.

@mrs. peep: I'm so looking forward to maternity dresses.

@redsmarties: those items are SO cute! Is the dress from Old Navy?

@Mrs D: @Grace: @redsmarties: this weekend is our time for painting stripes as well! We're doing horizontal stripes in the dining room/kitchen. Of course it had to be the coldest day of the month, so poor DH had the window open for me (it's 32 degrees outside). brr.

@msmay: I have a CR-V (it's my second; the first one got totaled and I came out of a rollover with just a bruise on my knee) and I luuuuurve it. Will be interested to hear what your test driving experiences were like!

    @Mrs Hedgehog: Congrats!!!

@JamieLee: the hardwood will look so pretty! Can't wait to see your nursery reveal.

Okay, so here's what we're thinking for the nursery (not sure if I'll be able to swing an upholstered glider, but everything else is pretty much a go unless I change my mind!)

@StrawberryBee: Our wall colors are very similar - we painted samples yesterday and I think we've decided on it. We dont know the gender yet - so we will either add lots of blue accents or lots of pink accents! I think its so nice and fresh!

@msmay: Sorry - I'm with @JamieLee: living in Metro Detroit you are shunned for driving anything but domestic so I've been a jeep girl my whole life. FWIW - I LOVE my Jeep liberty (and I have heard great things about the Patriot as well)...

@Grace: Lovely color scheme - I love the two tone idea. Our ceilings are too low for that look

    @redsmarties: AMAZING house warming gift!!!

DH and I were super productive yesterday! We went and got most of our registering done at BuyBuyBaby (for those of you who are in the FB group you know my last name so you can go check it out if you're so inclined!). It feels great to have that checked off the list! Still have some stuff to add (feeding accessories, paci's, bath/grooming/health products) but I'll get to that in April.

I'm off to Vegas tonight for a work conference (totally different going to Vegas 16W preggo as opposed to the last time I went! I get back Thurs morning then am off to Budapest Saturday - hoping by the time that trip is done I am feeling some movement and ready to hit the ground running in April! Next up 1) painting the nursery & guest bedroom 2) Viewing two ore daycares and 3) meeting with the pediatrician! Before we know it it will be summer!

Here are my color pick! The light green we are going with is the one in the middle its called spring morn and the yellow (which is just going in the guest bedroom) is banana cream - both Benjamin Moore!

@Mrs D: I drive a liberty too! I love love love it! My SIL just got a Compass and its really nice too. However, next time I want to get the new Explorer. It's so nice, and has a third row seat!

Love everyone's paint colors so far. I'm planning on grey walls with white beadboard wainscoting. The grey I like at the moment is called Elephant Skin from Behr.

ETA: it looks lighter on the swatch I grabbed. I'll have to get a sample to try.

@Mrs Hedgehog: congrats on your definite results! A little girl, yahoo! Beautiful name!

@JamieLee: great work on the nursery so far! I would love to get a started on ours, but I think we are waiting until July....ugh.

I can't wait to see everyone's finished nurseries. I love everyone's colour schemes, and yes grey and yellow is very popular. It's quite trendy right now so I've got a lot of ideas off of Pinterest.

@redsmarties: ooh seeing those clothes really make me want to have a little girl! That Popsicle outfit is hilarious!

@.twist.: jealous of your Lexus. My dream car is the Lexus 350. Is that what you have?! If so, total car envy over here.

@redsmarties: Love those outfits!! So cute! And what a great housewarming gift!!

@Grace: I really like those greens!!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Congrats on officially being Team Burger!! And that's a beautiful name

@JamieLee: Our nursery is still a guest room. We really need to clear it out! I bet those floors are going to look awesome!

    @StrawberryBee: Love your nursery ideas!

@Mrs D: I'm totally going to stalk your registry Have fun in Vegas!

Our nursery walls are Silver Sage by Restoration Hardware (it's a greenish/gray color and I think it's really calming). We don't really have a theme. We're going to get some prints from etsy, and the crib will just be a crib sheet--no bumper or crib skirt. I need to come up with some other accent ideas!

We are keeping our name a secret from friends and family until after the baby is born, and my mother is already driving me insane. She keeps suggesting names then asking if it's one that she's suggested! I just told her we haven't decided yet (even though we have). Less than 5 months til my EDD!! So exciting & terrifying!!

Its so exciting that so many of us are finding out the gender now! We just had our scan on friday and we are having......... A BOY!!! We are completely thrilled and *shocked* because for some reason we all thought it would be a girl! Now to think of names... we really have no idea what the little guy will be called.

  33. JamieLee

    clementine / 930 posts

@lawbee11: my MIL and SIL are the same way about names! They ask me every time I see them, even though I've told them its a secret. My SIL was bugging me so much that I said I'd tell her one of the names on our list. I told her we were considering Grayson (which us my dad's middle name) and she made a face and informed me she didn't like that. This totally reconfimed my decision not to tell. I mean, she said tat if her daughter had been a boy, she would have named him Steven Tyler (after the Aerosmith singer) so I don't put much stock in her opinion anyways...

  34. JamieLee

The floor is done! He hasn't done the trim yet, but it will be wide white square trim. I love it! Sadly we have tout the guest room furniture back for now until we get our patio furniture out of the basement as we're out of storage! And my dad is coming to visit in April so it will be nice to have somewhere for him to sleep.

Also, we started our Target registry yesterday. Our Target doesn't have a huge baby selection but I added a bunch of stuff online. I tried to add a lot of stuff under $20 but its hard. Now I feel like I have too many toys. I'm sure it will be a constant work in progress though. We got a little gift pack when we started it with coupons and samples. It had a Tommee Tippee bottle, breast pads, milk storage bag, a diaper, and some other little stuff! I was unreasonably excited!

We also plan to register at Babies R Us. I'll go to a Buy Buy Baby when we go down to Metro Detroit but we don't have one buy us. The only store we actually have by us is Target, and a Toys R Us with a mediocre baby section...

@Mrs D: totally going to registry stalk you!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Congrats on team hamburger! The name you picked out is so sweet!

@Mrs D: You are so organized and motivated! Reading your posts always reminds me I need to get my butt into gear! haha You're right though, summer will be here before we know it!

@andrea86: Congrats on the boy! We are also team hotdog and so excited! I've been finding boys names to be much harder than girls names. We finally decided on one, but it took us a while. I'm sure you will come up with the most perfect name soon enough!

AFM I started looking into a couple daycares and found one I like a lot that is close to work. Next step is putting myself on the wait list for it. Also does anyone else have random moments where this all of a sudden becomes VERY real? DH and I were at dinner the other night and we were talking about how we need to start researching car seats and the thought of buying a CAR SEAT made me tear up at the restaurant and say holy crap this is for real! Crazyness!

@redsmarties: Your hubby has good taste! Those are cute outfits!

@Grace: I REALLY like the green!! I’m a huge fan of green so I may be a bit biased. Ha!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Congratulations on being team hamburger, and that’s a beautiful name you have chosen. Even better her middle name has a history behind it!

@msmay: Never driven any of the cars you’re looking at, but like @.twist. said, my preference would be the Toyota. They last FOREVER!

@JamieLee: I’m so excited for you on the progress on the nursery already!! I really need to start clearing our office out. I told the hubby May would be my ultimate deadline for emptying the room out, and July would be my ultimate deadline to have everything up for the baby.
Yay for freebies while registering. Those are the best! Haha!

@StrawberryBee: Love your crib!! Who and where is it by?

@Mrs D: Love the paint color you have chosen, and you’ll be so busy the next few weeks, the 3rd trimester will be here soon! Haha! And yay for semi-completing a registry already! That’s so exciting. Going to have to leverage yours when we start ours because the task of registering seems overwhelming even with the guides available all over the place!

@andrea86: Congrats on being team hotdog!! I totally feel ya on coming up with boy names! We’re still struggling to compile a list (currently only have 4 names), and we’ve known the sex since week 12!! Girl names seem so much easier for some reason!

@skipper2010: I feel like it’s getting more real with my growing bump and people are starting to notice it vs it just being all bloat. And seeing the weeks go by also make it like OMG! Baby will be here in 20 weeks! Then you have all these August mamas who are on top of their game and you’re like crap! I need to get on that… haha!

For us, our walls are currently a neutral/beigey color. The hubby wants to paint it this mellow yellow color. I told him I wasn’t painting because I’m too lazy, and he said he was planning on painting it any way, but since he hasn’t even cleared out the office yet, not sure if it will get painted a different color or not! And since I’m not creative, our “nursery” will be pretty basic (aka just baby furniture in a room), so I’m totally jealous of all the cute stuff all y’all have planned and will implement for yours. I’ll live vicariously through y’all. Ha!

I think I also am starting to feel some movement, but I’m not sure! This past Saturday I felt a little flutter here and there, and again yesterday… Trying not to get too excited just in case it’s just a gas bubble or something. Haha!

Wow, lots of exciting news since I last posted, congrats to everyone who found out the gender - that is so awesome!!

My nursery is Owl Gray by Benjamin Moore, the same color as a featured nursery on the blog a while back. I painted some thrift store frames a light creamy yellow and the accent color is either going to be turquoise and green or coral and pink, once we find out the gender. Dh is now leaning towards finding out so I am super excited!!

ETA: Our theme is woodland animals. I'm buying an owl lamp, I registered for a hedgehog clock from land of nod and want to either paint an outline of a deer on a canvas or get deer horns to put on a shelf.

@StrawberryBee: I think your room is going to look so sweet.

@Mrs D: I will totally be stalking your registry! Have fun in Vegas! Jealous, I've never been and have wanted to go, at least ONCE! maybe one day...

Same goes for anyone on the Facebook group who wants to check out mine. I registered at BRU.

@Mrs D: Love both those colours!

@delight: haha, it's a hand me down from DH's parents. We bought it from them last year, it's a 2001 RX 300. I do love it a lot!

@lawbee11: We're going to keep our name a secret too! We just don't want/need any more advice from people/family! We too are having people ask us if it's "this" name or "that" name. haha

@andrea86: YAY! Congrats!!! Welcome to team hotdog! We're beating those burgers by one now!

@JamieLee: Gorgeous floors!!!! They look amazing.

@skipper2010: Yep! Going any buying tiny baby clothes really did it for me. Like, omg, someone I made is going to fit into this insanely small piece of fabric??

@Alivoo01: I really do love how Toyota's last forever! Also, you're so smart. I'm giving DH a timeline for our office too! At least if I can do that he can do it at his own pace up until then!

@andrea86: congrats on your little boy!

@JamieLee: @lawbee11: we were planning on keeping our names a secret from everyone, including family, but our parents bullied us pretty quickly into giving some up. DH and I are picking a few girl and boy names each and waiting to see what baby looks like before we decide. Our parents only know 1 boy and 1 girl name so I'm hoping that will keep them satisfied. We have opinionated family and I just don't want to deal with all of the comments! (Our girl names aren't particularly traditional.) Hopefully we can keep most of our names under wraps, but I think we feel extra pressure since we aren't finding out the sex of the baby

@StrawberryBee: @Mrs D: @JamieLee: Love all the pics! Y'all are making me want to get a move on with the nursery!
