@StbHisMrs: Yuck! GD test is 10 hour fast/2 hour test here, so I hear ya on the sugar hit on a an empty stomach. Congrats on passing though!

@Grace: Are you in Canada? It seems we skip right to a fasting 2 hour test, while the US has this (much better sounding) 1 hour test that you're allowed to eat stuff before.

@Mrs D: I love those! Your nursery is going to be so cute! I can't wait to see the final product.

@StrawberryBee: Yikers! I don't blame you. I wonder if there isn't some other plant around that's in the same family as well. I always thought that posion ivy was pretty easy to identify.

That is such a cute dress. I keep hearing about great clothes in that store, but every time I go in it seems like such garbage.

@Sapphiresun: I am in Canada. Thing is, when I went this morning, they didn't ask if I fasted and it was only one hour. I just hope that I don't have to go to the 3-hr one. Sounds super annoying.

Do any of you find that suspenseful movies are almost too much to handle? I just saw Iron Man 3, and every time the music got suspenseful, my heart started pounding, I was breathing faster, started sweating. I never used to have that happen.

@Grace: could be poison oak. But honestly, I'm just really bad at recognizing it ;). It's not always three leaves.

I'm still wearing my jeans/pants from Motherhood that I bought some months ago and have been worn at least once a week with no problems. I think some of the clothes my coworker lent me are from there as well.

I couldn't watch a horror movie last week, but then again they've never really been my thing. Hmm...I'll have to go see Star Trek and test this out! All in the name of science

@Grace: Thanks! As for suspense...I dont know about scary movies but watching the hockey game I nearly peed myself about 20 times during the tense moments. Then I turned into a raging bitch when we lost and pouted like a 4 year old. Awesome maternity hormones.

Anyone else BBQ'ing this weekend for the holiday? I'm having my currently homeless mom (she sold her house, and the company that bought it asked her to move out 3 weeks early so they put them up in a hotel) and SD over for a mid afternoon BBQ. Decided to make chili hot dogs and hamburgers, caprese salad, fruit salad, chips and onion dip and a Strawberry cake with coolwhip for dessert. May have a half a glass of wine today too - since my SD will be here assure DH it is A-Okay!

@Mrs D: Oh wow! You are SO CRAFTY. I love the K and your little birdies, those are freaking adorable! Please come decorate my nursery? haha

Re: Nail lady, no, it's not weird that you're excited over second hand stuff! One of my girlfriends gave us a jolly jumper, an exersaucer thing and a ton of board books! I am THRILLED about them! So sweet of your nail lady too, people can be so generous.

@delight: My mom has been super awesome and made me some receiving blankets, burp clothes and a crib quilt. She's super talented and I "help" her. LOL.

@StrawberryBee: Those outfits are SO CUTE.

AFM: I was so busy over the weekend doing birthday party things for the boys I barely had time to sit down. I've noticed that when I'm super busy and on the go I get (what I think are) crazy Braxton Hicks. I'm also getting a weird pain in my hip, I have no idea if it's sciatic or not but it HURTS. I try to just push through it. It's definitely weird walking when your stomach is as hard as a rock!

Also, has anyone freaked out about low amniotic fluid? I know I'm probably crazy but I swear I "leak" more than I should and it's has me reading up about low amniotic fluids. I see my OB next week so I'll let her know, just wondering if anyone else feels similar or can confirm my insanity.

ETA: Suspence/scary movies don't do much for me even now. However, I've conditioned myself to them so maybe that makes a difference?! I know sad ones make me bawl my eyes out and that is unheard of for me. I am not a movie crier!

  7. JamieLee

    clementine / 930 posts

@.twist.: I am totally freaked about leaking fluid. I actually ended up in observation in the hospital because I was "leaking" so much. Turned out it wasn't the amniotic fluid (they did two tests) and I've since had a good ultrasound, but it was super scary. I still worry about it. The doctor said it is likely a combination of more discharge from the pregnancy and some leaking urine (eww). I also read online that someone else's doctor told them it was likely also partly due to more sweating down there. I would ask your doctor anyway though. Better safe than sorry. Oh, and I also think I'm getting Braxton Hicks sometimes after doing anything too strenuous. If I walk too fast, I feel something in my lower belly, almost like a stitch like you get in your side when exercising. Don't know if that's what it is, but seems possible.

@Mrs D: don't worry about your reaction to the hockey game. I know a lot of people who turned into either raging bitches or pouting four year olds after the Wings lost who don't have the pregnancy hormone excuse...in fact, many of them are men! LOL. Your BBQ dinner sounds awesome btw!

@JamieLee: Oh that is really good to know, and honestly I think you're probably right and it's a combination of those things you mentioned. Which, (pee?) eeeeew, I'm sure that's probably more likely. haha

@.twist.: I've had minor freakouts, but I think the majority of wetness is sweat - oh joy.

Anyone got "BabyBrain" yet? I teach piano on the side and completely spaced and forgot to go to my student's lesson last night. I feel so bad. And now I'm wondering what else I'm forgetting...

@.twist.: Wouldn't it be fun to be a nursery decorator?!

@JamieLee: Not even going to talk about the attitude thrown around after last nights game...I think I scared DH for the first time...but I take my hockey seriously!!!

@Grace: I have Baby Brain SOOOO bad right now...its terrifying!

Ladies...I am SO excited...I just got my B-Nimble for $77 on NBD (it retails for $199)...such a good way to start out the work week!

@Mrs D: My dad's co-worker had a son last year just one day past my EDD this year so she gave me two bags stuffed with baby clothes. They were all stuff we would buy ourselves and some were even brand new. I totally got all excited, even though some were a lil worn also!

@StrawberryBee: Those outfits are so darn cute! I need to start thinking about what I want to wear to my baby shower, which is in 2 weeks! Eep!

@.twist.: I too worry about leaking amniotic fluid because sometimes, there will be a bunch of discharge and it'll be more liquidity/clear. However, after I wipe, it doesn't seem to continue leaking, thankfully. So I've had quite a few mini panic attacks, but none that warranted a call to the OB (yet).

@Grace: I totally have baby brain! Poor hubby looks at me like are you being sarcastic or are you being serious, and I give him the I'm totally clueless about what you're talking about look. He's like remember (insert explanation). Oh yea! *face palm*

@redsmarties: I feel like my belly is stretching pretty good this week also. I keep looking down to see if I'm getting stretch marks because of how tight my skin feels. I also try to slouch over or move into a position to ease the stretching since it's so uncomfortable!

For me, fatigue and possibly pregnancy insomnia is kicking in. I'm constantly tired and can nap at any time (similar to the 1st trimester). I also slept horribly last night (tossing and turning), which doesn't help the fatigue. Sigh.

@Mrs D: Did you use the Tuesday Steals discount code when you bought the B-Nimble? The code this week is 15OFF50 and is good for 15% off purchase of $50+. If you didn't use it, you can call customer service and say you forgot to enter the code at checkout and they should credit your card the amount!

@Grace: sweat. Isn't that a pleasant thought? LOL

@Alivoo01: Ok, well, I'm a little less panicky now that I've heard you're all feeling the same way. Part of it is that the little guy it's as active any more, but I keep forgetting that he's sorta running out of room. When he IS active, he is ACTIVE. lol

@Mrs D: If I were as crafty as you I would LOVE decorating nurseries!

My MIL bought my City Mini last night. *squeeeeeeeee*. It's GREEN. I'm in love. Although the sales lady freaked me out and said the city mini isn't good for anything but mall and clear sidewalk walking. I know it's kind of a wannabe jogger and I'm not planning any hikes with it, but I seriously think she over exaggerated the ability of the City Mini and just wanted the sale of the City Mini GT. Because I haven't heard anything bad about the original Mini.

I also found my DREAM diaper bag. It was so cute. However, I didn't buy it because I'm "not allowed" to buy anything else until after the shower. It's this Skip Hop bag and I'm IN LOVE.

Speaking of which, girls, my shower is this weekend and I have NOTHING to wear!!!!!!!!! aaaaaaaaaah!!!! At least my toe nails will look nice because I'm getting a pedi on Fri.

@.twist.: oh I love that bag! We are getting a plain grey one though because DH helped pick it out

@Alivoo01: I'm way more tired these days too. I'm back to my 9:30 bed routine. Better stock up on that sleep now!

I had my first OB appointment today, she was awesome. I have to have another u/s I'm 2 weeks. My 20 week scam didn't get good heart pictures but my doctor said it was fine. Apparently not fine, and the OB wants better pictures. I'm excited to see the baby again! I got a print out of my next 10 appointments! I also had my EDD changed from Aug 14 to Aug 16 based on my 7 week scan. However, I know when I O'd and had sex so I'm still saying its Aug 14

Hope you're all feeling well, can't believe how fast time is flying. I'm sitting here filling out paperwork for the hospital and thinking, holy crap this is really happening!

@StbHisMrs: Congrats on passing your GD test! That's a great number!!

@Mrs D: Your DIY projects are SO cute!! I wish I was good at DIY stuff.

@delight: Yay for finding the A+A blankets tax-free! Aren't they awesome?! Glad your OB appt went well--exciting that you get to see the baby again (just be careful when looking at the screen--at my 3D u/s baby was showing off her goods and she was obviously a girl (even to DH!) so divert your eyes if you get any potty shots!).

@StrawberryBee: Love all the stuff you got during your retail therapy session! That bathing suit is sooo cute!

@.twist.: I haven't experienced any leaking, but I've heard it's common, so I am sure you're fine. Definitely still mention it to your OB, though! So awesome about the stroller! You need to post a pic of it! That is such a cute diaper bag!!

@Alivoo01: I slept horribly last night, too Tossing and turning is no fun!

Y'all, I am so excited! One of my co-workers told me that she contacted BCBS recently and they said they do cover electric breast pumps (I contacted them months ago and they said they'd only cover a manual). So I called them during my lunch break and they confirmed that they do cover electric now and gave me the name of a DME supplier. I called the DME supplier and they said BCBS covers an Ameda Purely Yours double electric (which is fine with me since it's free)! It'll be here by the end of the week!

I also experience leaking - but based on the amount I think it's just pee and sweat. It's enough to keep me annoyingly wet most of the time which is just awesome lol.

My shower is coming up this sunday and I'm so excited! Gifts have been disappearing off our registry like crazy. I've found that most people want to spend between $40-$60, so ALL of the gifts in that price range are now gone. What's left is now gifts either under $30 or over $100.

My girlfriends who are hosting the shower have come up with some really adorable gender reveal decor and games. I am going to order the cake soon (once I have some privacy) - yaay!

@Modern Daisy: eep! SO exciting, my shower is Sunday too. What are you doing for your girlfriends who are hosting? How many are there? I have 2 main ones and 2 helpers planning this shower. I am at a loss as to what to do especially because I don't know who did what.

Also, there are 3 items purchased off my registry and one of them is the stroller, and I know who the purchaser is... maybe my registry is super boring?

@.twist.: Awesome, we're shower twins! My two best friends are hosting and my Mom is sort of co-hosting since she's providing the location and food (she does this for all our showers since her house is big and can accomodate a lot of people). I think I'll send them all flowers afterwards. I would get them massages, but my Mom and my one friend have major back issues so this might not be a great idea.

As far as your registry, I'm sure most people will wait until the last second to purchase a gift. Only about 1/2 of the people who RSVP'd yes to our shower have purchased a gift so far and it's only a few days away. Also, we are having a second shower in three weeks so some early birds for that shower have already bought a gift. And of course there are always people who decide to give gift cards or cash or go off-registry!

So excited for you girls with your showers coming up this weekend. My first one is June 23, so a little less than four weeks away. Only one thing off our registry so far, but the invites haven't gone out yet. We ordered them from Mpix (I design invites for my Etsy shop so I wanted to do them) but the USPS messed up the delivery so they didn't arrive Friday like they were supposed to. Should be here today though...hopefully!

My other shower is July 13. I probably need to send my list for that shower to my aunts who are planning it...I'm such a slacker these days! That one is downstate (about 4.5 hours away) and I didn't really think about how that's four-five weeks before my due date so that's probably going to be a fun drive...

I'm trying to figure out what I'm going to get for my hosts. My shower in June is hosted by my SIL, MIL, and niece. I'm thinking about getting them all pedicure gift certificates. For my downstate shower, it's hosted by my three aunts, my cousin, and one of my best friends. I'll probably get them each a bottle of wine from a local vineyard and a nice wineglass or something.

@lawbee11: Well I didn't use that code but I did use WELCOME to save 10% so almost as good! You never know...you may be good at the DIY stuff! Try some out!!!

My shower is June 22 - the invites went out today so I am excited to start registry stalking! My sisters and Mom are hosting my shower. I think I'll get my one sister a gift certificate for a mani, same for my mom and not sure yet on my other sister since she lives out of state! I was thinking maybe something for the new boat they just bought...maybe some cute beach towels with the Boat name on them!

@Modern Daisy: That's so awesome that so much has been purchased from your registry!

@.twist.: A bunch of people brought BRU gift cards to my first shower, so maybe you'll get a lot of those (which was fine with me!).

@Mrs D: Oh, awesome! You got a great deal!

@Alivoo01: Yes! I remember you contacting them back when I did and being told the same thing! You should call them. I called the customer service number on the back of my insurance card. They gave me the names of a few DME suppliers, but I found the one I ultimately bought from through the BCBS website (I purchased from a mail-order one). I think you said someone already bought you a breast pump, though? You could still get one through BCBS and leave one at home and one at work! The guy I talked to was like "Ok, your insurance covers a complete double electric kit or a manual pump. Which would you like?" I was thinking uhhh is this a joke?!

@JamieLee: hehe! We're shower twins too, my second shower is on the 13 of July! That is so cool that you make your invites! I should take a pic of mine and post it because they're pretty cute. My one girlfriend's mom is a graphic designer and made my invites. I love the personalized ones! I really like the wine idea! I know all my girls like wine so that might actually work ! haha thanks!

@Mrs D: I love the beach towel idea with the boat name, I totally think you should do that!!

@Alivoo01: Sure makes for boring registry stalking doesn't it!? haha

    Hi Guys,

I just found this site and thought I would join if you don't mind! I'm due Aug 11th and we're having a baby girl

I just started a medical leave this week, the Dr didn't like that I work really long days. I found I was getting really tired and not handling the job as well so they wrote me off already. Can't say I'm not super excited haha. It will give me lots of time to get everything ready and really relax. It's also nice because this way I can take the prenatal class and also prenatal yoga. I worked splits and a rotation before so I couldn't attend the prenatal classes as it was specific days/times but now I can. Our first class is June 10th so I'm looking forward to that.

I've found the last few days I've had wicked acid reflux or something. Like a million times worse than the regular heartburn I had before. I can't figure out what triggers it, it just comes on, it's so uncomfortable!

I'm jealous with all your shower talk! I don't think we will have mind until the middle of July or so, seems so far away! Very exciting for all of you though!

Look forward to getting to know you all better!

Girls, I have two co-workers that are going to drive me insane!!! They are treating me like an invalid. At the beginning, it was cute, now they are trying to get after me for lifting my arms over my head because my muscles are weak and I'm going to hurt myself. Gahhhh! Girls, beware the venting...I feel like a horrible person and I just can't help it. Just found out that my 'surprise' baby shower is this Saturday. After the childbirth classes that I don't want to go to. The ones that I already feel stressed about. Right into a shower I didn't want and asked everyone not to do, because social situations stress me out. While I'm wearing my crappiest clothes, because we're supposed to dress comfy for the classes. I can't stop crying, which is silly and I realize reacting like this is a bit ridiculous, but seriously? I gave my mother a list of dates where we had other things going on. That is possibly the worst one she could have chosen. I don't understand why everyone was so set on it being a surprise in the first place. Now instead I'm going to be frazzled, exhausted, and have to pretend that I'm not.

@StrawberryBee: Aww sweetie, I'm sorry. Is this the same day as the carnival? Seems all your events are happening at once. FWIW, I had my first class yesterday and it wasn't a biggie. She just talked about what to do when (as far as go to the hospital at this point, discuss with your dr if this happens, etc.). As for bad clothes, change after the class and maybe the shower will be small and unstressful. Maybe it'll be full of yummy cake and cute presents.

  31. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@Grace: thanks. It's really more the fact that its five hours of class and then the party. On top of everything else, how the heck are the dogs going to be let out if we're half an hour away? There's no way we can go home first; in fact, part of 'the plan' is to drop my step kids off at my moms house that morning before classes. That means we're leaving even earlier than I thought we had to; my moms house is about the same distance away from our house as the drs office where the classes are being held, but about twenty minutes apart from each other. Class starts at 9am.

And then I guess my dh is taking them to the carnival an hour away? After dropping me off at home a half hour in the wrong direction? I don't know, the whole thing makes no sense.

@Grace: I bet he'll go home to let the dogs out (assuming its not a coed party). It's hard to discuss it when I'm not supposed to know about it; he's going to feel guilty about 'ruining the surprise' as it is (though really, I can put two and two together!). My mother never has us just drop by.

Argh, I feel so guilty for being such a brat about it! I just wish they would involve me in the timing instead of keeping it a big secret.

@StrawberryBee: Hey, I see no insanity! My hormones have been raging lately as well. I always feel like there's these situations where looking ahead it's like, "how can that ever work" and then they come and go with no problems. If your husband helped pick out the date for your shower then I'm sure he's got a plan with the dogs. Try and enjoy it! Bring some extra clothes to your classes get freshened up there and then have some good eats at the party

@Grace: Yeah I'm lucky to be off. No bed rest or anything. Physically I could have pushed through work a little longer. It's mostly the mental part of my job that I was having a hard time with. I really felt like I couldn't go to work and do my best and was having a hard time pushing through the days. Also being in health care I never got proper breaks and was getting really exhausted being on my feet the entire day. So fortunately after a discussion with my Dr we decided that it was best to take off a little early and that was that.

@MrsB2012: unfortunately there was no real plan put into the date he picked except 'hey, this is a weekend we have the kids'. I doubt he even realized the classes were this weekend, because until a week ago we had no idea what time of day they were (and could very easily have conflicted with the party). None of the logistics of getting the kids there or leaving the dogs for eleven hours or subjecting a pregnant woman to an eleven hour day crossed his mind. I feel horrible venting to him though...I thought surely he was the only safe one to do so to, because why would he have been involved in any of the shower planning? Argh!

You've been pregnant and on your feet for long shifts? Kudos , I don't think I could have stuck that out that long!

@MrsB2012: Welcome!!! We have a fun chatty little gang here that I am so happy to see grow by another! That's nice you have some down time since it sounds like the job has been very stressful for you! Time to enjoy the calm for these last few months!

@StrawberryBee: Honestly - I dont judge your reaction at all. We are a mess of hormones these days and cant be expected to take anything rationally. Not to mention, as I said for carnival after the class it just leads to a long day and that is hard when you are this pregnant! I have 100% noticed in the last few weeks that I get so tired much easier these days...Could you have a neighbor or other relative (dad/uncle/etc) let the dogs out for you? Also, is the shower immediately following the class? (9am - 2pm is the class I am guessing) It may make you feel good to just go sit at like a starbucks or something and sip some tea or coffee and read or something to decompress after the class and before the shower?

@Grace: I feel like I am a ticking time bomb at work these days. The two kids working for me are on my last nerve constantly - I literally have to count to 10 in my head to not scream. My bosses are great - but occasionally they heckle me because I am not taking part in our biggest project this year (big long audit in India in October) because of my baby vacation. They do it just to get a rise out of me - I do a decent job of not reacting because I dont want to encourage more heckling but sometimes I may envision brutally attacking them in my head!

On a positive note...who is thrilled its already Wednesday?!?! And NDB processed my order and charged my cc - so I am super excited that I appear to have gotten the last B-Nimble!

@Mrs D: Thank you!! I appreciate the suggestions, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be able to apply any of them. Pretty sure that the plan is for us to go straight from the class to my mom's house. Nobody else lives in my area who can stop by except a coworker that I'm pretty sure will be at the party.

DH said to me last night: I don't understand why you're so upset. We'll go to the class and we'll go to your mom's house for the thing. It's no big deal.

Well of course it isn't for you...you aren't the focus here! Your job ends when you show up with me.

It's true what they say that third trimester feels a lot like first...I've really felt my energy sapped the past two weeks (and the five hours of sleep I barely got last night didn't help).

    Congrats on your B-Nimble!!!

@StrawberryBee: Oh gee. That is a really tough situation and it really doesn't sound like anyone really thought about how the whole day might affect you. I realize these people are all good intentioned but sometimes it would be nice if they considered what else was going on. I would probably be reacting the exact same way in your situation so don't feel bad for feeling the way you do! That is a LONG day! I guess the only thing to really do is play nice and know it's one day and it will be over before you know it and you can sleep in on Sunday!

@Grace: Oh that is so frustrating. Just because we're pregnant doesn't mean we're incapable of completing tasks in our daily lives! I know my boss has made me promise to ask him or one of the other guys to carry heavy files back and forth from the filing room. REALLY? A file full of paper? You don't think I can do this?? ugggghhhhh. I don't listen to him haha.

@lawbee11: Yup!! One of our friends purchased one off of our registries since it wasn't covered (so, so thankful). I'm going to call during lunch today to see if something has changed and I am able to get one. If I do, I'll let my friend know and let her return the one she bought because breast pumps aren't cheap!!

@MrsB2012: Welcome!! I've been meaning to sign up and do pre-natal yoga classes, but haven't gotten around to it. At 30 weeks, I'm thinking it won't happen now. Ha! And that's awesome you're on leave already! How long is your leave post baby?? I only get 12 weeks of FMLA so I'm trying to save it all for when DS is here.

@Grace: I totally feel ya! My BFF got married last weekend and everyone was like don't let her carry/pick up/etc anything!! I'm like guys, I'm pregnant, not handicapped (e.g broken arm, leg, etc). As long as it's not too heavy, I'll be okay!!

@StrawberryBee: Oh man!! That is a long busy day for you! Hopefully, the shower will be tons of fun and even though you're not a fan of it, you'll enjoy everyone's company (and the yummy food and presents) so time will pass by quickly. Before you know it, the shower will be over, and you can finally relax and catch up on rest the next day!

@Mrs D: I have to try so, so hard sometimes not to roll my eyes at my co-workers or get worked up when something that's not worth getting upset about bothers me!
