@delight: Isn't it wild to think that the baby is that big? My fundal measurements have always been close, but I've read a lot about them being very inaccurate. To the point that some doctors don't measure it anymore. And congrats on the nephew!

@Alivoo01: @redsmarties: @.twist.: Thanks for the sympathies. I've slept and am a much more reasonable person. LOL!

    Ooo - I like surveys!

    1. Have you started the nursery? Yes! It's painted and the main furniture is in. I have to get moving on the decorating portion though. I want to order some Etsy prints and put up some shelves.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Just DH. My dream is to have no one know about me going into labour and I can just phone people and tell them that they have a grandchild, neice/nephew, etc.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That is will last forever. I don't want one of those 24 hour intense labours. I'm hoping for short and sweet.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? This sounds rediculous, but I'm scared of the bleeding and the pain and the hemorroids and stitches and going to the bathroom. I'm scared of all the physical parts of recovery. The baby doesn't scare me at all, in comparison.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? I agree with Delight! I am looking forward to almost a whole year of no work!!!

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? That to me, pregnancy is a means to an end. And that there was no imagining what the 1st trimester morning sickness would be like. Oh - and that I'm pretty normal. Most of my symptoms come on time and act like they should. Since conceiving didn't happen right away, I expected pregnancy to be abnormal too.

    7. Belly button: Innie, but it's getting hard. I'm starting to think it wants to pop out and I'm scared! I don't know what's in there!

@StrawberryBee: i think I would have been freaking out about the RN having a tough time with HB! I was measuring on target up until 2 weeks ago, maybe I am just having a growth spurt. I'm not that concerned because everything checks out fine!

@Grace: it's amazing our babies are close to four pounds now. Remember when they were so tiny? Like the size of a blueberry? My app says Head of Lettuce now! Ouch, don't want to deliver that!!

Thanks all for the nephew congrats! I'm excited! They named him Glenn

    @.twist.:

    1. Have you started the nursery?

Yep. All the furniture is set up, just need to get a lot of stuff out of there and hang the wall decorations up.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? DH and I guess hospital staff. If I don't barricade myself in

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That the doctors and nurses will make me do things I don't want to do, which will ultimately lead to outcomes I don't want.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? That something will be wrong with the baby.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? I will ditto everyone else; bring off work!

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? That my body tolerates pregnancy pretty well.

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? Innie!

@delight: it wasn't that she had a hard time finding it (and I could feel baby moving) , she was just being picky about getting a perfectly.clear signal. I guess the idea they there was something wrong with her heart should have occurred to me.

  6. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@StrawberryBee: ohhhhh ok that makes sense at least she is thorough! I'll never get sick of hearing LOs heartbeat. I taped it the first time I heard it it was such a great sound.

I'm glad I'm not the only one excited about being off work! Today was actually my last day since I work in the school system. I have lots of reports to write next week but I can do them at home in my pjs. I also need to do my thank you cards for baby shower. It's been 2 weeks. Is that bad?! I'm sending them out Monday!!

    1. Have you started the nursery? No.....we were in the process of selling our house, so we didn't do anything. But then the buyers financing fell through, so now we are staying out. We just went this past weekend to pick out paint colors and furniture. It's nice to finally be planning one.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Just DH, like last time.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? I'm only 'worried' about going into labor before my scheduled csection date. I just don't want to labor if I don't have too.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Just being super overwhelmed with a newborn and a 15 month old. But DH is amazing so I know I'll have a lot of support.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? Having our baby girl and DS being a big brother.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? That I can handle more than I thought. It's been tough running after a toddler this time(well he will span 6 months to 15 months during my pregnancy)

    7. Belly button: Innie. It didn't pop last time so I'm hoping it stays an innie this time too

  8. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@delight: I know! She apologized after for taking so long, and I told her it was fine, I never get tired if hearing the heartbeat. We also recorded the first time we heard it.

If two weeks is bad then I'm in the same boat!

    1. Have you started the nursery? Nope, looks like she'll be in our room for a while.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? My husband, maybe my Mom, she was there for the last two deliveries and such a huge help. She might be watching M though.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? Making it to term, and I'd love to go into labor on my own since the last delivery was induced. That and my Husband is in the National Guard too, they won't let him out of training the week of August 12-17 (I'm due 8-15) I need him there!!!

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Coping with a 22 month old a newborn and my husbands work schedule.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? A big glass of wine

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? My body doesn't know how to do it right!

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? It's popped out quite some time ago.

Holy flipping heartburn/reflux, wow!! Anyone else? I had an appt. this morning and ate a bagel on the way, I was fine until I got to the office and had a banana. That was at 11, it's 4 now and I'm still dying! I almost feel like I've got the flu, cold chills, achy, but I'm sure it's just the reflux. yuck.

@StbHisMrs: oh how could I forget wine! Totally looking forward to that too. And beer. Yum. It'll be a hard summer without my porch and patio drinks! Sorry about your heartburn and reflux. Thankfully I haven't experienced it, but I hope you get some relief tonight!

    1. Have you started the nursery? You bet! We have the walls painted, most of the furniture set up, and the art for the walls is done, but not hung up. DH is refinishing a rocking chair that will go in there eventually. I'll have a ton of organizing to do after our showers though.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? DH for sure, and we're debating whether to hire a doula or not. My midwife will also be there (obviously).

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? Honestly, that all of my pain management techniques will go out the window. Or that something will go wrong. Or that I might need an epidural (IV IN THE BACK). But I'm sure it will all be okay.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Recovery. Without a doubt, I'm worried about tearing, stitches, pain, all of that good stuff. And torn up nipples from breastfeeding.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? A year off to get to know my little girl.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? SO much. Just a ton of information about pregnancy and childbirth I didn't know before. Plus, I got over my fear of puking pretty quick.

    7. Belly button: A very shallow innie that goes totally flat if i raise my arms/stretch my stomach.

  13. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

    1. Have you started the nursery? Nope, still an office. I think we've mentally chosen our furniture though, and will order it this weekend.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Hopefully me and DH. However, if he's at work when it happens and it goes faster than he can actually leave (if he's at court or a major incident or something, he can't leave, or would be called away mid-delivery)... maybe just me??

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That it will hurt even more than I've worked it up to be in my mind. Or that something will go really wrong and baby won't be healthy.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Hurting when I poop for a long time... and roids.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? Carbs. To date I've only gained 2 lbs. I plan to do some further damage postpartum. Screw losing the baby weight and give me some cake.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? That it feels like I've been going too hard on a thigh master for like, the last three months. Now I know why we end up waddling.

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? Still a pretty deep innie, but I had a very deep one to begin with.

  14. MrsB2012

I love surveys! Coming in to the board so late I don't know anyone so it's a good way to get an idea about everyone

    1. Have you started the nursery?

We have the furniture set up but it still needs to be painted / decorated and all that. I'm hoping to start that maybe tomorrow. If you guys haven't already you should post nursery pictures, it's my favorite thing to look at on boards.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you?

Just my husband and whatever hospital staff need to be there.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery?

That my MIL will try and come in. We're having a hard time with her. She's seriously over bearing and crazy. She thinks she has some right to be in the delivery room. ( um hell no. she drives me crazy at the best of times and she thinks I want her around then? ) I told my husband he had to start telling her she A) wont be in the delivery room before, during, or after the delivery. and B) Will not be hanging around our house 24/7 the first week after babe is born as it's our only time as a family. He told her this and she freaked, saying I need to compromise, that this is her grand daughter and she's going to see her and be around as much as she wants... Ha. We will see.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Aside from babe having problems, I don't really have any fears. If we can get through child birth, we can get through the recovery. My biggest stress postpartum is again MIL trying to be too involved.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum?

An ice cold corona with extra lime on a hot day. And no work for a year haha.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant?

How quickly you can fall in love with someone you've never even met.

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie?

It's still an innie. However, I used to have a very deep innie. Now it's a very very shallow innie lol.

Thanks for all the warm welcomes!! Now that school is over, I hope to be more active in posting and not just reading.

    1. Have you started the nursery? Yes!! It's all painted and most of the furniture is set up. After our trip to see my family, we're going to paint the two dressers and finishing organizing.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Just my husband. I thought about asking my sister, but then my mom would want to come in and I'm afraid she would just stress me out completely. I love her and we get along great, but she's not the best in stressful situations.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That there will be something wrong with the baby....I blame it on years of ER and Grey's Anatomy

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? That breastfeeding will be terrible and I will be terrible at it. Also, that recovery will just be awful and take weeks.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum?
    An ice cold Sam Summer

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? I agree with a PP, I had no idea that I could love someone so much and have never met them. I used to think that women who said that were just saying because they had to. Now I know its for real.

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? Innie, I'm hoping it stays that way for a few weeks

@delight: Yay! Congrats to your little nephew! I also love his name. That is one of my best friends names.

I also need to do my thank you notes and it has also been 2 weeks! I just started them last night but realize I have hardly any addresses. After my wedding was over I literally threw everything in the trash because I never wanted to look at it again! I suppose I should have written down all the addresses though....

    1. Have you started the nursery? NO! It is currently still an office with a mountain of baby stuff piled in a corner. Hopefully we're starting the clear out process this weekend. I'm super excited!

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Just my husband and the necessary staff. I'm considering allowing my mom for the first while, but as soon as it starts to get stressful she's gotta get out!

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That I will tear really bad, that I won't be able to handle the pain.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? roids!

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum?
A BEER. Also getting to sleep on my stomach again, oh how I miss it.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? I've learned that our bodies are truly amazing and I'm in awe of the whole process. It also kind of freaks me out and feels like maybe I'm growing an alien...

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? It threatens every few days to pop out!

@Alivoo01: Your baby shower looks so amazing!! Love all the details!

@.twist.: I've been dealing with swelling but it's mostly in my feet/ankles. I haven't noticed any in my hands yet. I have been icing my ankles every night before bed and doing ankle "exercises" throughout the day. I think it's helped a little.

@greenebee: Sorry about those pains you were experiencing (that would have freaked me out, too!) but glad everything looks good!

@Modern Daisy: Ugh, I hated the 3-hour, too. And the lady that took my blood was the same way--super rough. I STILL have a bruise on my arm and it's been over 3 weeks since I took the test...ridic!

@delight: Congrats on the birth of your nephew! So fun that they'll be so close in age!

My baby shower is tomorrow--I am really excited! I have been registry stalking and it's fun to see what's been bought.

I also forgot to update y'all after my 3D u/s! The little lady was more cooperative this time, but she was still a little camera shy. We got a couple of good profile pics, I just wish she had turned to face us more so we could get a shot of her entire face. The good news is that she is now head down (yay!). The tech also said she can tell in 2D whether the baby has hair and she said she definitely has more than just peach fuzz! I had a TON of hair when I was born, so I am not too surprised

Here's my fave pic that we got (she looks like she has chubby cheeks already...and I am pretty sure she has my nose!):

@.twist.: You and your awesome ideas!

    1. Have you started the nursery? - YES! I love crafting and have been making a few things for decor. The main furniture is all in, and we have a rug! We still need to do a few things like finish the curtains (made me some curtains!) and tidy up and organize before our shower on Sunday, but then I will share pictures! It is still a combined nursery and office (i.e. my DH keeps his piano in there - he's a composer and we have no other space for it). But I am excited to see how it turns out!

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? - I just want my DH and of course any hospital staff.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? - Complications for the baby. Having to have a C-section or epidural; not that I'd protest if they were necessary, I've just been dreaming about a non-medicated birth.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? - Actually, breastfeeding. That I won't be good at it, that the LO won't take to it. And of course the worry of problems for the baby.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? - Sleeping on my stomach, indeed!!! I've missed it so much! And the time to spend with the little guy and my hubs.

    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? - That your gut feelings and instincts are often correct. And how very extraordinary the physicality is. We're lucky to experience. Also, how someone so small can steal my heart so fast.

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie - Oh. It's been an outie, and proud of it, for quite some time...

    1. Have you started the nursery? Yes! The walls are painted, crib and changing table are assembled, curtains are done, closet is somewhat organized. We still need to get a couple of pieces of furniture and hang some stuff, but we've made good progress.

    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? Just my DH and hospital staff.

    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? That something will go wrong or that it will be traumatic. I really want to look back on my delivery as a positive experience.

    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Breastfeeding (I really, really want it to work) and how the baby will affect my relationship with DH.

    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum?
Sushi, diet coke, and not having to work for 5 months! Also, seeing my DH with his little girl...I get teary-eyed just thinking about it.

    6. What's one thing you've learned from being pregnant? Always give a gift from the registry and always include a gift receipt!

    7. Belly button: Innie or outie? Innie but it wants to be an outie sooo badly!

    1. Have you started the nursery? Yup - I'd say 60-75% done! The big stuff is in I just need to add the decorations and get the storage stuff all squared away!
    2. Who will be in the delivery room with you? DH will be the only one in there when its go time - but I want my mom to have access as well.
    3. What is your biggest fear about delivery? Pain meds - I have a history of not being able to handle them so I am really hoping I can get an epidural without having side effects.
    4. What is your biggest fear postpartum? Just praying I am a natural mom because I really have no experience with newborn.
    5. Besides baby, what are you looking forward to postpartum? all the fun stuff to do in the fall here at home with baby!
    6. What's one think you've learned from being pregnant? How impressive our bodies are - its amazing what they are capable of.

@StrawberryBee: I feel the exercise ball helps me a lot. I try to bounce and do hip circles for 20 minutes before bed..just when watching tv or playing on my iPad. If I forget to do it, then it's hard for me to sleep on my side because my hips hurt and the next day I am noticeably more sore. I highly recommend it.

@StrawberryBee: YES, get an exercise ball. Magical. For my hip pain, SI joint dysfuction AND sciatica, the ball has been great at A)making me sit up properly and stretch things out and B) allowing for stretches/hip circles and things. Feels much better after sitting on the ball.

@delight: @redsmarties: thanks! Any sites you can recommend that will show me what to do on it? Or are hip circles self explanatory?

    Also, what size? I'm 5'2".

@delight: awww, congrats again! I'm not sure if I believe you on the no pain though ;).

Bru was doing 20% off all reg price items yesterday , so we went and paired it with the 10% completion and got the jogging stroller and Sophie the giraffe. I wanted to get more, but they had very little in stock.

  40. Mrs. Oatmeal

@StrawberryBee: I just sort of sit with my feet flat on the floor, and roll my hips in a circle one way, then the other. Figure-eights are also good. And my midwife suggested planting your feet wider and rocking side to side, which opens up your pelvis. But I'm sure if you just google it, you'll find something helpful!
