@delight: I think they will and I would certainly not feel bad asking - like you said plenty of people spit it out anyways!

I went to dinner with my mom and her husband the other night and my mom ordered a glass of wine and asked them to split it in two glasses (for her and I) and the lady didn't bat an eye.

I have been craving a beer SO bad (Brooklyn summer lager or Bells Oberon) - I would love to have one at dinner tonight but I know DH will not be comfortable with me ordering one at the country club so I am sure I'll just have to wait and have one at home this weekend! My goal was always to wait until 7 mos - which is Sunday!

@delight: my cousins wife just did a wine and cheese tour in our area and she said she was provided a bucket to "swish and spit" without having to ask and they were really good about pointing out which cheeses were pasteurized. If they don't automatically include you I'd definitely ask.

@Mrs D: @Sapphiresun: thanks girls! I feel better! That would be great if they give me a little bucket to swish and spit! I have been having fun trying the different kinds of non alcoholic beer around my city. Some are almost as good as the real thing!

@skipper2010: @BabyMats:My favorite thing to say to DH now is "I'm stuck. I can't get up." lol

@Alivoo01: I'm looking forward to freaking DH out with the two-way audio some time ;).

@delight: I currently don't have an Ipad, but I assume the apps are the same :). I have it on my Iphone (free app, but I'll probably splurge for a $5 paid app so I can get more features).

    You look so cute!

@.twist.: Ooohh look at all your goodies!! Love them

@StrawberryBee: She's been very active, like ouch kind of active!!

@redsmarties: We've also flipped from transverse to head way down, confirmed by dr & ultrasound yesterday, I had to ask!

@BabyMats: Welcome and congratulations!! Very jealous of where you live!!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I've been leaking for the longest time (16 weeks maybe?) I'm one to wear my bra all day and sleep in it normally, but this pregnancy has me hating all my bras! So as soon as I take it off I get really itchy and that makes them leak, it's sad.

@delight: Cute bump photo I bet they'll provide you with a spit bucket no questions ask. My parents ordered a glass of wine for me a couple months ago and nobody commented. Although yesterday I bought a summer sampler pack of beer for my husband and the lady in front of me in line nudged her husband and looked at me then the beer with an evil "judgy" eye. I gave her the stink eye right back, if she would've said something I wanted to tell her that my Dr. ok'd my husband to drink beer
    I'm envious of your trip

AFM - A little TMI too I had a checkup on Wednesday, and a cervical check because I had a week chock full of "drop you to your knees contractions" and that got a prescription for modified bedrest. Not a happy camper. I'm not dilated but my cervix has shortened to end of the "ok" zone. In my dr.'s words I'm allowed to work but when I go home I need to go to bed, if I want to interact with my kids I can only read to them. You can't be a Mom for 6 weeks...What? Yeah I see that happening with a 20 month and an 11 year old, AND my husband is leaving for 20 days to Idaho on Sunday. Luckily my Mom is about 2 miles from us, so she's going to cook us dinner and "police" me while he's gone.
He ask me to come back the next day for an ultrasound so that we have a measuring point in case I start to progress more, this is mirroring my last pregnancy now. He'll take me off modified bedrest at 36 weeks. Everything looked great yesterday and she's still a girl She's gone from transverse to head way down, no wonder I'm getting all these new kicks and punches!

That's about it, I'm jealous of all your baby showers

@StbHisMrs: LOL @ your comment that the doctor okay'd it for your husband to drink beer.

Scary and sorry to hear you're on modified bed rest! Hopefully your mother can help out tons with your two other kiddos so you don't go into labor too soon!!

@StrawberryBee: I ONLY know her position because the midwife manhandled me and pointed out where everything was, haha. I know she's head-down because I feel her hiccups in my crotch.

@delight: Any wine tasting I've been to, they've provided a bucket/cup for anyone who doesn't want to drink. That being said, my midwife actually prescribed a glass of wine for when early labour begins, or if I need help sleeping ha ha. It obviously can't be TOO bad in the later stages!

@StbHisMrs: Ugh, sorry about your bedrest! I can't imagine how hard that would be with other littles running around too! Hopefully the next few weeks pass smoothly, and you'll be off bedrest before you know it!

Spent the day in a sales training meeting at a hotel...sitting the ENTIRE time. And I couldn't even get up and walk around, because my boss plunked me in the front row. Needless to say, with breaks only every hour and a half, my ankles and feet are MASSIVE. The back pain and swelling is intense...hoping there are no more situations like that!

    clementine / 930 posts

@Mrs D: bells Oberon...I want one of those soooooo bad!

@StbHisMrs: what a mean lady! Love that potential comeback though! Sorry about the modified bed rest. I'm sure your mom will be a big help though.

AFM, I'm totally vegging on the couch, procrastinating cleaning my basement for the company we have coming tomorrow. I work part time in a retail store so I'm on my feet all day and by the time I get home, I feel like I can barely walk! My boss just informed me she's going to move me to three days a week instead of four, so that should be good. Not too bad in the swelling department, but I have major shin pain. Ugh.

Also, no leakage, and that makes me feel defective too! I'm a worrier by nature so I'm tying not too think that this means I'm going to have trouble BFing.

As for baby moving, I still worry he doesn't move enough. People always ask if he's kicking me a ton or keeping/waking me up with his movements, which makes me worried that he should be and he's not. But I don't really have anything to compare it too, so hopefully everything is ok. Maybe he's just a less active baby. Also, I have no idea if he's head up or down. He was head up at my 26 week appointment, so I'll have to ask the doctor on Thursday when we go.

We got nursery furniture this week. I found it used but it seems really sturdy so hopefully it will work out. I also finally got DH to clear out the guest room bed so we can start putting things in the nursery, although it still needs another coat of paint. I'm still pretty anxious about everything coming together in time, but I'm starting to feel a little better about it.

I also have knocked the belly on things and it hurts. I also get random pains in the belly that feel like baby is pushing out with his leg or arm or something. And on Wednesday, he must have had something wedged up under my ribs because it hurt to breathe in. Also, I feel on Wednesday at work. Landed on my hands and knees, and wasn't sure or anything, but I freaked out that I hurt baby. What a klutz!

still trying to figure out how to reply to everyone. Im going to try and do a general one. this thread does move really fast when you are acually tring to respond..haha.

I live on the island of Oahu. I came here on vacation about 12 years ago and have now been living on this beautiful island for about 10 years. (im from So Cal) So I know what u mean about coming to visit and wanting to stay... I came back and stayed and met my husband who was born and raised here. I definitely dont take this beauty for granted I promise and I cant wait to go out and watch my husband teach our son to spear fish and I want to teach him to surf....of course it will be a long time from now but I can dream early cant I?

I get stuck (on the couch) ALL THE TIME!

As usual, I'm way behind again. Are August moms the most talkative? I finished teaching for the semester, my mom came to stay for a week, and we took the train overnight to visit my inlaws for a baby shower. Busy time!

My shower was really nice. It was mostly DH's family, but my mom and a close childhood friend were there, and only two people I didn't know. I was blown away by people's generosity. Like many of you I got plenty of off-registry items (clothes, blankets, a million bibs), but also some practical things like both baby carriers I wanted, a manual breast pump, a breastfeeding pillow… I was also able to return quite a few things to Target for store credit so we will be using that for a while. And it was SUPER helpful that our parents got us the the stroller, carseat, crib, and crib mattress.

While my mom was in town she made me take my sewing machine to be repaired, so now I have it back and working, and I made a taggie blanket that came out well even though I am a total novice. My next craft projects will be embroidering some constellations to go over the crib, and sewing a hot air balloon mobile. I also need to knit sleeves on the baby sweater I started ages ago…

I'm excited to see pictures of your nurseries coming together! We have our furniture set up but it still looks a bit sad since there's nothing on the walls and not much on the shelves. I kind of want to paint the room but I don't really want to do it myself, so I think it's just going to stay as it is. We also set up the bassinet in our bedroom.

The final recent addition to our home is a dishwasher! It's a portable one since we live in an apartment, and I resisted getting it for the longest time because I thought it would be annoying to hook it up and unhook it. With the baby coming I figured it would be worth it. Now DH takes care of starting it in the evening so if I had known that would be the case maybe I would have caved a lot sooner! I had to tell him that he was right; I love the dishwasher.

We went on a tour of our birthing center while my mom was visiting so that was really nice to see. There's also a tour as part of our prenatal class series (4 evening classes), but I don't get to do those until July because they only do them every-other month. The final class is on July 31st so I hope the baby isn't too early! Have people started looking for pediatricians yet? I got a couple names from my OB and nurse partner at the hospital, but haven't scheduled interviews yet.

My GD test was this week (ugh) and I got a call that my platelet count is low, so I've got another blood test coming up in 3 or 4 weeks. I guess I passed the diabetes portion of the test since I didn't hear anything on that front, at least! I'm now on the every two weeks appointment schedule.

@JennyG: Yay, you are my due date twin!

@StbHisMrs: sucks about the bedrest, but at least it's not complete and you get some time out and about. I'm sure you'll make do with the kids. Try not to do /too/ much ;).

@JamieLee: I think we're just unbalanced now (though honestly, I still don't feel 'omg, pregnant!'. I'm sure I'll be eating those words in the next 8 weeks!). Sorry to hear you fell!

@JennyG: Welcome, and congrats on your little boy! Is this your first?

@chanzi: Glad to hear your baby shower went well, and oh my, you sound so crafty! Our nursery is getting filled to the brim; there's some stuff in there that has to get moved out, and in the meantime DH stashed the stroller in there to keep the animals out of it. I don't know how I'm going to keep things 'clean' enough for him once Ella arrives. He can't touch anything that the animals have touched :(. I've gotten through 4 thank you cards from the shower so far...sigh. We've 'kind of' picked our ped. Kind of in that I got a recommendation from a friend but haven't called them yet.

So today ended up being both our hospital tour and our breastfeeding class. I would HIGHLY recommend doing a tour of wherever you're giving birth; it was nice to find out where we were supposed to park and where we were supposed to go. Unfortunately I could feel my heart rate elevate just being there; I'm scared I'm going to have a nervous breakdown once it's actually time to go. I don't think I'm as scared of labor/delivery as I am of hospital and doctors. The L&D room in itself seemed very nice, though there was this huge (I mean, like two feet across?) spotlight thing that hovers over the bed that just really gave me the willies/brought it all home. I may just wander off and hide somewhere to give birth.

Breastfeeding class was...interesting. Not too much that I didn't already pick up from HB, though it was surprising to me that she was a major Ameda fan and not so much Medela. I'm sorry to say that while she was perfectly nice, she didn't give me warm fuzzies. I was hoping I'd be able to call on her to be my LC. We ran into an LC randomly at the hospital (it was so QUIET! There wasn't anybody there when we toured) who gave me a better personal impression in 30 seconds than she did in 2 hours. Wish I had caught her name.

Seeing the holding positions in person was very helpful. She confirmed that my insurance should cover the cost of a breast pump and that I should call once my plan renews on July 1st and insist on escalating the call until I get someone who knows what they're talking about. She said that it's not necessary to sterilize parts past the initial one to clean out any contamination from the factory.

Other thing learned about our hospital : you have to pay $10/day for tv and phone. And some of the rooms come with vcrs. Wifi, strangely, is free.

We also watched a DVD in the bf class. Overall it was done well and was very soothing, but there was one part with a new mom where she was sobbing on camera because her DH made her a banana and peanut butter sandwich, even though he hates bananas. Yay hormones!

@JamieLee: I can totally relate/understand to the appendages pushing out against the skin and making it uncomfortable! As for baby movements, some day, my DS is super active and the next day, he's totally chill! I brought this up to my OB and she said as long as he makes 5 distinct movements within an hour a few times a day, you're okay! It doesn't have to be every hour.

    @JennyG: Welcome!!

@chanzi: Our OB gave us a big long list of pediatricians to choose from. We asked all our friends with their personal experiences, and think we have nailed one down. We still need to go interview and introduce ourselves though.

Yay for a good shower and tons of gifts. Glad the dishwasher has turned out to be a GREAT decision for you!!

@StrawberryBee: I'm glad we toured our hospital too because while I've had knee surgery there, I had no idea where the L&D floor was! Plus, registration for L&D is totally different from when I had regular surgery. So glad to know vs being in labor and asking the security guard to point me in the right direction and trying to locate where I needed to be!

I met two LC at our infant CPR and safety course last week, but neither of them really gave me warm fuzzy feelings either. Then again, they were just instructors of the class and didn't really interact with us. Our breastfeeding class is next Wednesday so hopefully I'll be introduced to someone that I feel comfortable with.

LOL @ the mom who cried about the sandwich her hubby made. I know it's mean to laugh, but gotta love those hormones.

@Mrs D: Love the wall decor over the crib. I'm a fan of espresso/dark wood furniture so I'm totally digging that as well!

My baby shower was this past weekend and we had a rocking turn out. I think we had about 60 people show up so needless to say we ran out of food quickly, and by the time my hosts came back with more food, everyone's food kind of settled so we had tons of leftovers. I felt bad!

My aunt gifted us our stroller (City Select) so we're uber excited about that! We also got quite a few packages of diapers and wipes so hopefully we're set in that department. We also got a lot of clothes so maybe I don't need to do laundry the first few months? Ha! We did end up with a good amount of useful things also that we registered for, but they didn't mark off the registry.

And instead of cards, I requested guests bring books. We now have a decently large collection in variety of books, and it's awesome!!

I can't wait to officially clear the rest of the office out (hopefully in the next week or so) so we can purchase the dresser and organize the nursery. Right now, it's just a storage room for all our office stuff still residing in there with baby stuff.

  27. Sapphiresun

    nectarine / 2220 posts

@Mrs D: Wow, great job! All you guys are so prepared!

@delight: Yum... I seriously think about wine EVERY day. Maybe I need to get myself a spitoon. haha

@Alivoo01: We're in the same boat. Our "nursery" is still our office/guest room, just with a bunch of baby stuff piled up in the corners. I think that's our task for a couple weeks from now to get it sorted out.

As for me, my shower situation is stressing me out. As I said before, my mom was crazy about it being AFTER the baby is born since we "don't know the gender" and she thinks it's bad luck to do it before. So, I kind of assumed there was a date picked, maybe sometime in the beginning of Sept, since that's the earliest we could pretty much guarantee the baby will actually be here if it went a week or two late. So, I was talking about picking up a tub, and a diaper genie this weekend, and she freaks out about me buying up all the "potential shower gifts", so I was kind of like, the baby could potentially come end of July... if something is necessary, I can't just do without it for 6 weeks "just in case" someone wants to buy it for my shower.

But she lives 5 hours away, so she doesn't want to "waste trips" here. My aunt is hosting, and what she thinks she's arranged is for the date to just be up in the air until the baby arrives, and then THAT weekend right after, since she can only stay a week or less. So... potentially 2 days notice to invite guests/set up, and she thinks I'm going to show up if it's like... on the way home from the hospital. So, I'm pretty sure a) she's going to be the only one there because most people I know have plans 2 days in advance, and b) I haven't talked to my aunt, but that sounds super annoying to host if people actually CAN make it. So, I kind of think I'm just going to pass on the shower all together. People can just trickle through and see the baby as they feel like coming over to our place.

@greenebee: Yup, my baby boy is super wiggly and he has started to punch the mattress when we go to bed. The only way I can get him to stop is by lying on my back!

This weekend me and DH made a lot of progress on the nursery. It still isn't photo-ready yet, but we've found a place for all of the baby stuff, hung the bookshelf and artwork on the wall and rearranged furniture so there is a lot more space to fit the crib once we finally order it. My new avatar is a picture of a bear that I made and is now hanging on the wall We also went to HD and talked to a guy for waaay too long about replacing the bedroom doors, but they want $430 just to install one door and the doors start at around $250 so that's not in the cards for us right now. We might try and see if a local handyman will do it for less, but now I don't even want to order the doors from HD because I don't like how greedy they are in NYC - when we checked prices in southern NJ a few weeks ago it was about 1/3 of what we were quoted yesterday for the same exact doors & installation.

Also, some bad news - I failed my 1 hr glucose test on Friday. I got a 140 and my Dr's cutoff is 130. So I have to go in for the three hour tomorrow which will not be fun at all. I know I haven't been updating the thread with my Dr.'s appts' and it's just because I'm lazy so I will start doing that again. But from now on I will ALWAYS answer my cell phone on the weekends, I ignored it last night since I thought it was a telemarketer - it was my Dr. calling from a line I didn't have programmed into my phone. Whoops! I was making dinner and DH and I both saw the call coming in and immediately rolled our eyes saying "not answering THAT!"

    @.twist.: Please add me as having appt's tomorrow 6/11, 6/21 and 7/12.

@Sapphiresun: Oh man!! Your shower situation would stress me out major!! I understand what your mom is trying to get at with shower presents, but some things are just necessary pre-baby's arrival like diapers, wipes, car seat, etc! Can you save some items to make your mom happy that won't be necessary immediately like a stroller or play mat?

@Modern Daisy: So glad to hear I'm not the only one still sleeping on my back!!! I try sleeping on my left side (which is recommended), but DS is not liking it. He's better about it if I sleep on my right side, but back always seems to be my default sleep position.

Can you purchase a door from a surplus building supplier and hire a contractor to install it? It'd be significantly cheaper!

  30. Modern Daisy

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

@Alivoo01: That is what we will try next. The problem is, once you tell someone it's for Manhattan the price normally doubles. Our best bet would be to find a local super who will do it for much less and try to buy pre-hung doors from a different supplier and have them shipped to my parents house in PA. It will be a huge pain to drive down and bring them back, but it really will save us probably $1,000 or so since we need more than one door.

@Mrs D: Oh man, I have been craving beer too. Sometimes when DH gets home from work I'll crack a beer open for him. Sometimes I sniff it. Just sit there and sniff for a few seconds....

@greenebee: SO wiggly! Yesterday DH way gently laying with his head on my belly and the little guy was kicking him in the HEAD. ahahaha which I thought was hilarious.

@StbHisMrs: Sorry to hear about the bed rest!

@redsmarties: Sitting for extended periods of time is awful. My couch used to be my favourite place in our house. I freaking love that couch. Lately though? It only makes my back hurt! *sobs*

@JamieLee: My thoughts on the leaking have totally been that of "I'm going to have trouble BFing"! And don't feel too worried about baby not waking you up. Our little guy has not woken me up out of sleep at all. He moves around before I go to sleep but I've never been woken up or had a hard time falling asleep because of his movements. Try not to worry too much, as long as you can feel him move about every day that is the important thing!

@StrawberryBee: I just realized over the weekend that I have never, ever had a prolonged stay in a hospital before. I'm pretty sure the last time I had any sort of hospital work and patient bracelet thing was when I was born. I started freaking out a little. Luckily, one of DH's cousin's wives is a L&D nurse. She has calmed some of my fears and promised to get me the best L&D nurses for when I'm there.

@Mrs D: I just love your nursery! You are too crafty!

@Alivoo01: YAY for a great turn out at your shower and lots of useful items! I bet you had a blast! How did you find a 60 person shower? I found 20 overwhelming! Did you get a chance to talk to everyone? Our office is still... an office as well. It's getting crammed with baby stuff, but alas, still an office. I'm actually going in there tonight to kind of organize a bunch of "non" DH business stuff and move it to the basement! I am starting to STRESS.

@Sapphiresun: wow. That really does sound like a stressful shower situation and I honestly think I would rather not have one too! I don't get how your mom thinks you should go -who knows how long- without essential baby items??

@Modern Daisy: I stopped doing the appointments because they are all pretty routine and the next major ones are birth! Hope that's ok. Sorry to hear you failed your test! A few of the other ladies here did too but they passed the 3 hour one, so hopefully you pass that one too!!! Sounds like your nursery is really coming along, can't wait to see pics and I REALLY love your new avatar! Super cute!

@Alivoo01: @Modern Daisy: I am totally still sleeping on my back too.

@JamieLee: That's awesome that so many of your big ticket items have been purchased!

@.twist.: Aww your mom is so sweet! My mom has been amazing during my pregnancy--she has done so much for us...don't know what I'd do without her!

    @BabyMats: Welcome & congrats!!

@delight: You are not weird! I started washing baby clothes at like 24 weeks! And you look so so cute in your bump pic--love that top! That owl pillow is too cute

@StrawberryBee: Ahh love the Foscam pic! I can't wait until my DH sets ours up! I am lucky that he is very tech-savvy because I don't think I could do it myself.

@Mrs D: I was going to vote for the VB stuff, too--glad you got a coupon! LOVE the stroller (NBD is the best!) and the wall behind the crib--so cute!!

@greenebee: Yes on the active baby! Our little girl has been waking me up in the middle of the night with her dance parties...no fun!

@StbHisMrs: Ugh! That sucks about the bed rest, but at least your mom is close by to help out.

@JennyG: Welcome & congrats!! You're due the day after me

@chanzi: We've decided on a pediatrician, but I still need to call his office and set things up...I am not really sure how that works. Guess I should do it soon!

@Alivoo01: So glad your shower went well and you got lots of goodies! Mine is this weekend...I am pretty pumped!

@Sapphiresun: Ugh, that sounds super stressful. I agree that I would rather not have a shower than have one that is so last-minute and stressful!

@Modern Daisy: Sorry about failing the 1-hour...I know how that feels! Hopefully you'll pass the 3-hour with flying colors since you were pretty close to the cut-off!

So I had a semi-scare on Saturday night. I was awoken a little after midnight with terrible abdominal pain. I tried to just lie in bed but it hurt SO bad that I woke my DH up. He was convinced I was having contractions and got out his stopwatch and started timing them. I was in complete denial and was just insisting it was RLP. The pain was really bad for a few minutes, then would go away then would come back 10 min later. Y'all, I was a mess! The only thing that kept me even a little calm was that none of it was in my back, so I was pretty sure it wasn't contractions. About an hour into this I heard a huge gurgle in my stomach, so I started Googling gas pains + pregnancy and found all sorts of stories from women that sounded exactly like what I was feeling. It hurt SO bad, though...I can't even begin to imagine how badly contractions are going to hurt! All is well now and baby is still nice and comfy in my ute!

@StrawberryBee: I am a craft dilettante, dabbler in many but expert at none. We have our stroller/carseat stored in the nursery too but mostly because it seems weird to put them in the car yet. Pet allergies sound really hard to deal with! And you have completed 4 more thank you cards than I have… I keep thinking about how I need to ask my MIL for addresses, but really the delay is me writing the cards.

I was also super nervous at the hospital when we toured and am really glad that we got to figure out where to go, etc. ahead of time. I've never stayed in a hospital at all! The delivery and postpartum rooms are really nice, but still... I haven't met either of the lactation consultants at the hospital yet but my nurse partner described herself as very "hands-on" with breastfeeding. Umm, good I guess?! Lol.

To get a pump covered by insurance I need to buy it through a medical equipment supplier but I called the list of local ones that I got from the insurance company, and none of them carry pumps. I looked up a larger list of approved suppliers on the insurance webpage but there's no way to filter by which ones provide specific things, so I guess I will be making a lot of phone calls… Unless someone else has a better suggestion? If I try talking to different people at the insurance company, do you think SOMEONE can give me a list that is actually relevant? It is super annoying if they can just tell me to buy through an approved DME provider but then not tell me which ones carry pumps. I contacted the leader of the local chapter of La Leche Leauge but she didn't have any helpful leads.

@delight: Yay, I was hoping for a report from the winery tour! I love that pillow too.

@Alivoo01: We purchased the dishwasher for $80 off Craiglist so it wasn't a huge investment, but I'm glad it it working out so well. I wish I had thought to ask people to bring books instead of cards!

I'm jealous of those of you who can get ped. recommendations from friends! None of our friends with kids are local.

@Sapphiresun: Oh my gosh, that sounds like a super stressful way to do a shower! I can totally understand people wanting to meet the baby, but some advanced planning seems necessary... I like the idea of letting people buy you stuff you won't need right away, but I'm pretty sure I am not going to be feeling like attending a party right after I have a baby.

@lawbee11: Oh gosh! So scary! I feel like I had those crazy painful gas pains in the first tri and I thought I was going to miscarry every single time. It was BRUTAL. I also was going to ask you something but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Damn baby brain...

@StrawberryBee: We had our hospital tour last week, and once we walked into one of the labor and delivery rooms I came damn close to having a panic attack! lol It suddenly hit me that not only was I going to have a baby soon, but that I actually have to get him out of me! haha I then became all emotional and teary because this pregnancy suddenly felt so real and I'm so excited to meet this little guy. So all in all, I was kind of a mess. haha

@delight: Cute pillow! Glad you had a good experience at the winery!

@Alivoo01: Sounds like you had a great shower! Do you have any pictures to post either here or to our FB group? I'm beginning to have a new obsession with baby shower pics/themes.

@lawbee11: That does sound scary, but I'm glad it was nothing! I sometimes wonder how I'm going to be able to tell the difference between real contractions, braxton hicks, and gas pains. lol I guess I'll figure it out, but I'm sure I'll constantly be on edge towards the end.

AFM I can't believe how fast the third trimester is flying by so far! I'm sure it will slow down as we get closer to our due dates, but right now it feels like I still have so much to do! On my baby to do list: Find and interview a pediatrician, send in hospital pre-registration forms, install car seat and check at fire dept, tour day care, book newborn photographer, pack hospital bag (I would like to have that done by 36 weeks just in case and I'm 32 weeks now), and of course the ongoing nursery project. I know I'll soon have more to add to this list, but that's what I have for now!

@Alivoo01: sounds like a great shower! Awesome that your aunt got you the stroller! That's the big thing I'm almost positive we will have to buy.

@Sapphiresun: that shower situation sounds super stressful! I don't blame you for being anxious about it. I can see why you'd want to just skip it, but it seems unfair you should have to miss out on the experience...

@Modern Daisy: that is ridiculous for the doors! I'm pretty sure at Home Depot/Lowe's around here, a prehung door averages about 130 bucks and DH charges 25 - 30 an hour to do work like that, and there's NO WAY it would take more than a couple hours...also, I failed my one hour glucose test but passed my three hour, so I'm sure you'll be fine. Especially since you were so close! The test isn't super fun or anything, but its not toooooo horrible!

@lawbee11: scary! Glad everything is okay. I've also had some bad gas pains...not fun!

@skipper2010: I totally also worry about telling the difference between real labor and other pains...

@.twist.: Most of the guests were hubby's friends and family. We did a co-ed shower so that probably affects the number a bit - ha! He's a social butterfly and knows EVERYONE! I think the original guest list was over 100 people.

@lawbee11: oh no!! That would be so scary!!! Glad to hear it's just gas pains and all is well now.

@skipper2010: All my baby shower pictures are on my host's camera, but she said she'll send them all to me today so I'll post some tomorrow!

@Sapphiresun: our family shower is after the baby arrives as well. I'm sorry you are having such trouble with yours. I agree it's hard to pick a date. We just decided on the last weekend in September and sticking to that and our due date is Aug. 14.

@Alivoo01: wow you had such a great turn out at your shower!! Sounds like a lot of us have to clear our our offices! Come on boys get to work!! I keep dropping hints but I know it'll be a few more weeks til we start.

@.twist.: I'm uncomfortable when sitting on my couch too I am finding I watch way less tv though, so that is a good thing! Wish I could tell you where to get the pillow, but it was a "one of a kind" shop. A lucky find!

@lawbee11: that sounds scary and painful! I'm glad everything is ok with you and baby!

@skipper2010: oh man, your "to-do" list is giving me a mini panic attack I like to pretend there is still so much time left, but now that I'm under 10 weeks to go, I guess I better get started on things.

I have my ultrasound tomorrow to check on growth and to get some better heart pics. Can't wait to see baby again!

@Modern Daisy: We just had our interior doors done by a local carpenter. $155 per door. A little less for bi fold closet doors. We got cheap non solid wood doors from HD (our house just does not justify buying expensive solid wood doors) I will send you a link if you're interested - they are $55/piece and the guy charges $100 to install them a piece!

@.twist.: Haha - at least all you do is sniff - I totally steal sips!!!
