Just got back from my trip to Michigan, and you ladies are right! It was hot and humid this weekend! Lucky for me, the Bed & Breakfast had a pool!

    @redsmarties: gorgeous cake!

@Mrs D: great loot! I have the same little high chair and I have the dress you're wearing too congrats to your sis! It'll be awesome having two babies so close together in your family!

@JamieLee: glad your shower went well. Can't wait for pictures!

Hope everyone had a nice weekend! I had a great time scrap booking all weekend. Glad to be home sleeping in my own bed tonight though.

Sadly I don't have too many pictures but I hope to get some from my sister in law and friend tomorrow. The dessert table was the highlight!

Thanks everyone, I feel so fortunate that my friends and family were very practical with their gifts for our little girl. I only got like 7 or 8 pieces of clothes!

@JamieLee: That dessert table looks amazing!!! and you had such a good turnout of practical gifts too it looks like!!!

@delight: The dress was SO comfy but also absolutely not flattering at all....

This weekend was exhausting. The shower was amazing but it literally consumed all of Saturday (up at 6am baking - got back to my house at 8pm). Sunday my dad came over to help us with some last minute house work we need to wrap up pre-baby. I must have gone up and down our two flights of stairs 25 times turning the circuit breaker on and off - I am paying for it today...so sore!

I told DH starting this week we need to take nightly walks around the neighborhood. I am starting to feel LARGE so its time to eat better and get moving more. Hoping after the holiday week next week to move to a low sodium diet to keep the water weight down in the last two months.

Post shower it looks like DH and I will need to buy the mattress and the travel system. We got a few giftcards (with a few more expected in the mail) to help off set. We'll wait until after the holiday to pick those up. We also have a handful of little things to pick up (pacifiers, some small toys, changing table mattresses, some receiving blankets - can you believe I only got the set on my registry). I had lots of diaper talk at the shower - the opinion was unanimous - Pampers Swaddlers at first then Target brand (all 4 of my girlfriends said target were the best and cheaper than Kirklands brands - FWIW). So I think I'll get 100 or so swaddlers in NB size and size 1, and also target brand in size 1.

Ok - enough gabbing...I should probably actually start doing some work! Happy last week of June ladies...this is the home stretch for some of you!

    @redsmarties: Super cute cake!!

@Mrs D: I love having cousins that are close in age. The bond is awesome and yay for easy play dates!
I love the décor and that’s an awesome gift tower!!!

@JamieLee: OMG! Your dessert table looks amazing and delicious. I so want a bite of everything on there!! And you picked up quite a bit of loot as well – winning!

@JH524: Thanks for your well wishes. I see that you’re due date is tomorrow! How’s that going??

As for me, I’m starting to feel large as well and extended sitting is not comfortable. Still lots of baby movements which I love, but he loves to get comfy by stretching out the left side of my belly. We “fight” a lot in the fact I push him back and he wedges (type of appendage) right back in the same spot!

Also, on our drive home from work on Sunday, the hubby mentioned how a lot of nurses advocate for the epidural. He thinks I'm a pretty tough gal and can do without it even though I've already mentioned to the OB up front I'm all for the epidural (I'm deathly afraid of feeling the pain from tearing, etc.). So I was happy that the hubby thought I am THAT strong of a woman. He's not against the epidural, but just mentioned that I should try and go au naturale as long as possible. This gave my warm fuzzy feelings.

@JamieLee: Oh yum! I want to eat everything on that table.

@Mrs D: That's not bad! Nice to get so much of the practical stuff.

@Alivoo01: Mine does that as well. This may be a sign that I'm going to be a terrible mother... but it's boiling hot in my house,so I usually have some sort of ice pack/magic bag that I'm sitting with. One of the times that it stuck a foot in a particularly uncomfortable spot, I tried putting the ice pack there, and it chased it away pretty efficiently. Glad that your husband is so supportive!

@.twist.: wow, that flooding is really something. Glad to hear you're above the water line, but what a shocking thing to have happen. Hope they start receding soon and the property damage isn't too severe (wishful thinking, probably) :(.

@redsmarties: Beautiful cake, glad to hear your shower went well!

@Mrs D: glad to hear that your shower went well, too! How sweet about your sister being pregnant ^_^!

@JamieLee: that dessert table is gorgeous! looks like you got some great things.

Well girls, I finally finished my thank you cards *relief*. You know, three weeks after the fact. I forced myself to push through or I knew it would be another three weeks before I looked at them again. And dear god, we got So Many Clothes. I had a long talk with my husband over my fear that she's never going to even get to wear half of them; it's such a waste. I'll take a picture of the closet when I'm back home.

Also, I feel super ache-y lately, especially in my pelvic area. I'm going to ask the doctor tomorrow if it's because the baby's dropped down there. Like, super uncomfortable sleeping, getting up off any piece of furniture. I feel PREGNANT and big.

  7. Mrs Hedgehog

    pear / 1812 posts

@StrawberryBee: I have the exact same aches. It feels like I pulled every muscle I have down there and it is really painful at times. I asked my OB about it at my appt this morning and she said it is a normal unfortunate side effect of pregnancy and it is the tendons stretching. The only thing that will really help is a maternity belt.

@Mrs Hedgehog: well, that's a relief (I guess!). good to have a reason for it, thank you!

  9. JamieLee

@StrawberryBee: I also feel pain and stretching in that area. It's like a lot of pressure when I'm standing or walking, and sometimes it feels like I have to pee SOOO bad but I actually don't. I also am having all sorts of other weird pains. Like the other day I sat up funny and must have tried to use an muscles that don't work right anymore because it hurt so bad. I find I'm most comfortable laying down...lol. Works for me when I'm at home. The couch is like my new best friend!

  10. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@JamieLee: Yes, exactly! We went to the movies on Saturday and all of a sudden I swore I was going to pee myself (I didn't, thankfully ;)). Standing/walking is super uncomfortable, and sometimes I feel like I should be holding my belly to alleviate it. Wonder if a maternity belt is worth it?

  11. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@StrawberryBee: I wear a maternity belt on the weekends because I'm on my feet a lot. I find it very supportive by lifting my belly and supporting my back so I have less back pains. I still get back pains since I don't wear the belt during the weekdays since I sit mostly. But I can definitely feel the difference!

@JamieLee: YES on having the urge to pee so bad you feel like you're about to pee yourself, but when you go, it's barely a trickle. Sigh.

@Alivoo01: @StrawberryBee: ugh to the pee issue. I'll pee, and then leave the bathroom and one second later feel like I have to pee really bad again. So annoying. I'm getting lots of aches now too. I'm uncomfortable sleeping but all I want to do is lie down in bed

@JamieLee: I'm drooling over those chocolate covered strawberries!

@JamieLee: love the dessert bar! Looks delicious!! Looks like you got some awesome gifts! So practical as well which is awesome.

I'll second ( third.. fourth...) the pee issue. So annoying! I walk everyday, and everyday I pee the second before I walk out the door and then literally 5 minutes into the walk I'm starting to scout out bushes to hide behind haha. Usually I can make it until I get home.. On a regular basis, I get up 6 (!!) times to pee during the night. Last night was only 3 so that was a major treat.

I've not been too bad with the aching. When I sleep, my right knee hurts really bad. Maybe from all the relaxin floating through, and I've always had bad knees so maybe it's just a little out of place.
Yesterday my husband and I went and did a hike with out dog. I had tons of pressure down in my pelvis on the walk up, but coming down it was fine. I think that babe is laying with her head in my hip so I've been trying to do lots to get her head right in the pelvis. With the pressure I had yesterday and combined with feeling hiccups right down in my crotch, I think she's starting to shift into proper position which is nice.

@MrsB2012: DS's hiccups have been down on my lower right side where my appendix would normally be!

Have you ladies found any association with what causes your baby to hiccup? Mine normally hiccups when I've been laying on one side too long and then roll over onto my back or other side.

OMG Ladies! We just got back from our 3D sono and I gotta say, we are making one effing adorable baby! She is obsessed with having her hands by her face but even still... gah! I am more ready for her to be here now than I was this morning!

Oh, and the first thing they did was go between her legs and "Yep, no mistaking it. That is definitely still a little girl!" Thank God. I was terrified I would have to return everything and start all over on her room!

I will post some pictures tomorrow. I am just so excited and Mr. Hedgie is so cute with how proud and in love he is. It is the best feeling ever not only to see how much he adores her already but to see him get so excited and be the proud Daddy before she is even here. It's hard to explain but it melts my heart. Love it! The first thing out of his mouth was "Oh my God, she is gorgeous." I almost cried!

@StrawberryBee: Wow, that's a lot of clothes. She's going to be a well dressed baby!

    @Mrs Hedgehog: Awwwww

I've discovered where the breastfeeding guilt comes from. Had a prenatal class tonight. The topic was breastfeeding - she didn't outright say formula was posion, but she seemed close. I plan on breastfeeding to the best of my abilities but she still managed to make me feel guilty for having a "just in case" can of formula in the basement.

@StrawberryBee: haha that looks exactly like my closet!

@Mrs Hedgehog: aww that's awesome! So exciting, the features must be so clear in 3D at this stage!

@Grace: we quickly talked about breast feeding tonight, we have our actual breast feeding class next week. But she did say she's not going to go over formula feeding, just breast. Don't feel guilty about having formula "just in case" better to be prepared!

@StrawberryBee: awesome wardrobe!!! I am jealous of your baby girl's stash! I need to get all my stuff washed and hung up!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Oh so glad you had such an incredible experience at the 3D u/s - that is so sweet of your DH.

@Grace: You can totally tell that when people have opinions they have SERIOUS opinions about formula. I;m like you and going in open minded - I'm hoping to exclusively BF for 6 mos but if I cant do it - its A-Okay!

Thank you notes, laundry and finishing some interior door painting is consuming my life this week!

This weekend my SIL is coming to town with her family (3yo and 5 yo niece and nephew) so the weekend will be busy. Then next week I am headed Up North (probably only @JamieLee: gets it) for the holiday! Cant wait for some relaxation on the lake before my crazy month of prep in July begins!!!

@StrawberryBee: @Alivoo01: @delight: I (fifth...?) the 'pee' issue! But I've only been waking up 3-4 times a night to head to the bathroom. Which is so difficult without ab muscles to help me sit up properly. I always end up kind of rolling off the bed and onto the floor -- grunting to stand up and wobbling to the bathroom. DH always kind of wakes up afraid that I've hurt myself, I am trying to convince him that the noises I make are just the effort of standing.

I'm with you ladies too on the weird pains! My OB said they too were tendon pains. We had a birth class all day Saturday, and there were several times when DS would move or shift positions and it was painful! It feels almost like I've pulled a muscle in my belly. Woof.

It's crazy to think that our little ones are really moving into position now. I definitely feel hiccups down in my pelvis and sometimes I think I can feel his head turning left and right. CRAZY!

@redsmarties: What a gorgeous cake! Congratulations!

All you ladies who have recently had showers, looks beautiful!!! (I'll post some pics of our first one soon!)

  24. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@StrawberryBee: Our DS has a pretty full closet right now too! I'm excited to start putting them on him, but also a little freaked out that that time will be here really, really soon!! You have an awesome stash, and like others said, maybe laundry can wait a lil longer since she has so many outfits available despite spit ups and blow outs!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Awww!! That's so sweet!! They do say being pregnant/giving birth makes you fall in love with your hubby all over again, but in a deeper/different way. *cue melty heart*

@Grace: Don't feel guilty about having formula on stand by. Some ladies' milk don't come in till later (at our breastfeeding class last week, one lady didn't have her milk come in till 9(!!!) days later!!), and you'll need to feed your baby something until your milk comes in. There's so many "what-if" scenarios that would result in supplementing (e.g. tongue tie, bad latch, etc.). It's better safe than sorry!

@Mrs D: I JUST finished my thank you cards even though my baby shower almost 3 weeks ago! I'm hoping our office will be all cleared out in the next two weeks so we can go buy the dresser and I can do laundry, put DS's clothes away, and set up the room more nursery like.

@greenebee: You can feel like his head moving?! That's awesome and crazy at the same time. LOL!

In order to get out of bed, I kind of roll off. I roll over to my side then drop my legs off the side of the bed then sit up or just slide off the bed. It's quite interesting... If I try to sit straight up, it's uber difficult or my belly makes a pointy triangle in the middle and it freaks me out because I feel like I'm squishing the baby.

@Mrs D: hope our up north weather is good for you guys! June was chilly but it's been toasty the last couple days. Who knows what will happen for the holiday!

AFM, I got all our goodies from the shower sorted into totes based on purpose, like feeding, bathing, toys, etc. now I need to go through the clothes and sort by size and see what I need to still get and/or take back. I still have one more shower so I'm not planning on buying anything until after that shower but I have a pile of repeats to take back. Based on my registry stalking, the only big things I think we will need to buy are the stroller, monitor, and high chair. We got lots of feeding stuff at this shower - bottles, drying rack, breast pump accessories, plates, sippies, etc. - toys, Rock and Play, Pack and Play, bouncy seat, play gym, and bath stuff. I'm feeling a lot less anxious about the stuff we need now! My friend also went garage saleing and brought me a big bag of clothes that are almost brand new! And she washed them for me. She's been such a great support for me this whole pregnancy, especially since I don't have my mom.

I'm also having trouble sitting up/getting up from bed or the couch! The rolling seems to be the best method! Makes me feel kind of like a beached whale though...lol!

@JamieLee: I have the same problem too! Mr. Hedgie makes fun of me because it takes me 10 minutes just to get out of bed to pee! And the entire time I am shifting and rolling in all sorts of weird ways just to get up! He also says I grunt alot... I can totally see that. lol

@Alivoo01: I thought I was a weird one for my belly doing that triangle thing! Whew! I'm not alone.

@greenebee: Apparent;y I grunt just about every time I move. Stand up? Grunt. Bend over? Grunt. Lay down, roll over, walk up stairs, I grunt. Mr. Hedgie says sometimes it sounds like I hurt myself but, nope, I just sat down on the couch. I don't even notice I do it!

@JamieLee: & @Mrs D: Hooray for MI showers!! That's where mine was last weekend too, my DH is from the Detroit area. Thankfully we at least had nice weather, but my MIL lives on a lake and it was SUPER windy. We had to use clothes pins to keep the tablecloths on the tables and the centerpieces which were potted plants kept toppling over. It was absolutely gorgeous though and a great turnout. They did such a great job with the decor and they hired caterers so there was very little work for us to do the day of.

We didn't get anything from our registry other than our car seat (thanks BIL!!!), but it was fine. I didn't realize that since the invitation said "Please bring a signed book instead of a card" People would only buy us a book and leave it at that. From now on if I'm throwing a shower for someone I won't write anything like that on the invitation, but it was still a sweet idea from my SMIL. Now we have a ton of books which will definitely come in handy. Plus the non-book gifts we did get weren't from either store where we were registered anyway so it's not like people would have gone to the registry instead. It's funny how different the cultures are in our families, but regardless it was really special to be celebrated like that - we are super lucky.

@StrawberryBee: wow that's quite the wardrobe! I have literally a 5 pack of white onesies and 2 sleep gowns in 0-3 month size. You've pretty much convinced me that I NEED to go shopping on the way home from work today.

@Mrs Hedgehog: so cool! I can imagine it was pretty detailed a this point. I had a regular u/s last week and even that really looked like a baby!

@Grace: I agree. We did a one day course and it was very pro breastfeeding as well. Handed out a list of ingredients in formula for everybody to boo and hiss about (not literally, but that seemed to be the jist).

@JamieLee: Sounds like you're getting nice and organized!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Wow those pictures came out awesome! So clear and detailed! Impressive.

I went shopping last night and bought most of my hospital bag essentials. I should have it packed and ready to go by next week so that it's all set by my 36 week goal.
Has anyone else fallen off the exercise bandwagon? I'll go for walks here and there, but it's been so freaking hot lately that I don't want to be outside. Okay for those of you registered on Amazon, beware. I just found out that the ERGObaby I was registered for was being sold from an unauthrorized seller "ERGObaby" clearly copying their name. The only reason I discovered it is because I was reading through the review to make 100% sure it is the carrier I want and the only negative feedback it got was from people who got a knock-off through Amazon sellers. To make sure, I called ERGObaby (found the 800 number on the 'real' website) and they said that they don't sell on Amazon! So I may or may not have gotten a counterfeit carrier from that seller, but I didn't want to take teh chance so I just bought it directly from the company's website. And get this, it was being sold for the same sale price $108 with free shipping.

Now I am going through my registry to make sure nothing else is potentially counterfeit! Anyone else have this problem?

  39. Modern Daisy

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

@Alivoo01: I don't think they misunderstood, I think they just only wanted to spend around $20 so buying the book kind of became our gift instead of being an add-on which is what my SMIL intended it to be.

  40. Alivoo01

    wonderful olive / 19353 posts

@Modern Daisy: Um.... I registered for the Ergo on Amazon, but I returned it because there was a more recent release of the carrier so I was planning on purchasing the newer model, but haven't gotten around to it yet!!
