@Alivoo01: haha RIGHT? I feel like I'm so very unprepared and I'm hoping that what I have read on the internet this afternoon has been highly exaggerated and I'm just fine.... LOL

@chanzi: LOL! I have been eating ice cream like it's going extinct! Seriously! Cake week! hahahaha I can guarantee the ice cream is where my weight has come from! On a really strange side note, one of my co-workers just looked at me and giggled and said she is so not used to seeing me so chubby... uhm... thanks?

@Sapphiresun: @delight: Thank goodness it's not just me with the superfast, impersonal appointments! I guess/hope my next one is where things will start getting more involved (I probably shouldn't wish for that. Cervical checks ~_~).

I got my FMLA paperwork back from the doctor's office...along with an FYI that they charge $15 for filling out the paperwork. Uhm, seriously? That's like a $1/word. Whatever ¬_¬.

@redsmarties: ha, speaking of nursing tanks, my DH was doing the laundry (love him!!) and he pulled out one of my new NTs and said "I have absolutely no idea what to do with this" lol. I told him not to worry about it ;).

I feel like I'm the only one without the belly triangle?

@Grace: your nursery is so pretty!!! I wish that mine looked that finished; it's still crammed with stuff.

@MrsB2012: "I've discovered the easiest way to get out of bed is to just throw my legs over the edge and kinda fall onto my feet in one motion haha." Ahh, me too!! I kinda groan every time before I have to swing over and get up.

Just ordered my raspberry leaf tea. Not sure if starting it this late will do any good, but I'm curious enough to try.

@Alivoo01: Mine kicks me hardest when I'm on my right side. She was pitching a fit last night and I told her she had to deal lol.

@chanzi: I'll miss the feeling of baby kicks. They're not usually painful, and I love the connection I feel when she starts moving in there.

@.twist.: love it! I agree that the blue tarp is probably giving a blue cast to the light in the room. Congrats on progress!

I feel a little guilty to say this (as well as tempting fate), but no swelling here yet. I honestly feel pretty good for the most part; there's certainly a lot of acid reflux/heartburn. I get winded easily, but that could be all the months of little activity :/.

Had my work shower yesterday!! I seriously love the people I work with (they also made up a good portion of my first shower, which kinda also fed into my lack of excitement over it, because I felt bad that they'd be held up for two sets of gifts). Usually at work we all put in what we're comfortable with and then the money goes towards getting something big off the registry. Big completion items were:

    Pack N Play
PNP sheets & waterproof pads for underneath
two sets of crib waterproof mattress cover
    bathtub

Yay!! I just place an order on Amazon.com today with my 10% completion code for some remaining items (thermometer, extra PNP sheet set, etc.). So I'm feeling pretty good about things. Running all the waterproof stuff through the washer/dryer now.

    @greenebee: @StrawberryBee: Thanks!

@.twist.: Funny, that paint colour totally looks grey to me! It's very soft and pretty.

@StrawberryBee: I didn't think I had pointy belly either, but then it showed up and freaked me out. Try stretching out and arching your back when you are standing up.

I feel a little relieved that some of you didn't gain weight at your last check. It happened to me too, and it made a bit worried.

U guys are so hard to keep up with but I have a question for all of u.
So today I came home feeling really sick today...like throwing up about five times and diarrhea. The birth class said that your body will do that to get ready for the baby but I feel like that it is too early..I'm barely over 34 weeks. Anyone experience this? No fever no chills no any other symptoms but nausea and my body emptying itself. Ugh...this sucks.

  6. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@BabyMats: no symptoms like that here. Call your dr to be sure; better to get checked out now (or reassured over the phone that it isn't related to the pregnancy). Trust me; they'd rather you call vs not!

  7. chanzi

    cherry / 233 posts

@.twist.: Oh no! You don't look chubby in your bump pictures.

@StrawberryBee: I feel guilty about feeling good too. I don't like getting up at night, but my swelling isn't that bad, my heartburn is only occasional, and I don't really have other symptoms besides needing to walk more slowly than usual. I feel like I'm getting off too easy here.

@BabyMats: Eek, that sounds really unpleasant! I have no helpful knowledge or experience to share though. I hope everything is ok!

    @chanzi: thank u!

@StrawberryBee: no belly triangle here either.

@BabyMats: I got the stomach flu a couple months ago and remember being really worried that it was signs of preterm labor. But it was just a super nasty bug. It was gone within 2 days. I didn't have a fever or anything, just puking and the other...not fun at all. I did call my doctor though, just to be safe. Hope you get ahold of yours.

I had an appointment today and I gained 4 pounds in 2 weeks! I blame it on the leftovers from the dessert table at the shower! Lol! Everything looked good, although I am measuring big. I think it's just because I'm a bigger person. Doctor said that it might lead to an ultrasound in a month. She didn't seem concerned though.

  10. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@BabyMats: Yuck. I hope you feel better soon. Could be food posioning or Norwalk (I think that one makes you sick out both ends). It's good to ask the doctor regardless, because you could get dehydrated quickly.

@BabyMats: great! I forget where you are sometimes and that your day starts later than mine :). Hope it clears up soon!

So, I got a call from my midwife today while I was at work. She and my other midwife were going through my chart, and they noticed that, while for the last few appointments, I'd been measuring slightly smaller, at my appt on Wed, I was measuring a cm ahead. It was a 5cm growth in under 3 weeks.

So, they were a little concerned, and told me to book in for an ultrasound to check things out. Since its our holiday weekend here in Canada (wahoo), the soonest anyone can get me in is Thursday!

I've been reassured that everything is fine, and that its just a precaution...but I'm still kinda freaking out. What could be wrong to cause baby to grow TOO much too quickly? Ugh...hopefully I can forget about it, and just relax this weekend!

@StrawberryBee: Also planning on starting raspberry leaf tea (and evening primrose oil). I figure I'll start the tea now-ish, and the oil around 36 weeks (cause I've heard stories of it starting labour in a couple days...too soon!)

  13. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@redsmarties: I'm sure it's just a matter of individual babies growing at different rates, but glad they're looking into it! Guess she was just catching up.

I wasn't sure what to make of evening primrose. How are you...ahem...planning on taking it?

  14. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@StrawberryBee: Definately in capsule form...by mouth. Lol. I don't think I'm devoted enough to take it the other way. And hilarious about your DH and the nursing tanks. Mine just likes that my boobs are accessible lol.

  15. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@redsmarties: thank you for not being offended by my question ;). I wonder what DH will think of my boobs when there's milk leaking out of them?

I have yet to model the nursing tanks, so he may not truly appreciate their value yet lol.

Ugh, I'm not sure where the energy came from, but I bathed all three dogs tonight. They're not big, but they shed water like ducks. Gonna pay for this later I think.

  16. JessKas

    pear / 1693 posts

@StrawberryBee: I haven't had the pointy belly either. Although sometimes I get this really weird lopsided belly.

You ladies are hard to keep up with! I too have the oh so fun swelling that some of you are experiencing. The 10 year old I work with said my hands look like "cartoon hands" because my fingers are rounder (and I have small hands). And I'm pretty much living in flip flops. It's been really hot here and that makes the swelling so much worse for me.

I've given up on trying to be graceful when I get off the couch or out of bed. I feel LARGE! I'm jealous of those of you with lower weight gain. I've gained SO much. UGH. And I don't even eat dessert or unhealthy foods. Just "lucky" I guess. I can't wait to have this baby and work out hard again.

My friend was 6 weeks ahead of me and had her baby last Saturday. It really made things so much more real for me. Like HOLY MOLY, I'M GOING TO HAVE A BABY. Like SOON! I'm looking forward to labor/birth. I'm kinda excited.

My shower is tomorrow and I can't wait. I'll be able to finish buying what I need and set up the rest of the nursery after. My last day of work is July 8 (I work as a nanny/personal chef for a family and they are going away for the rest of the summer), and although I'm not sure what I will do with myself for 5 weeks, it's kind of nice to have the time to finish getting ready.

I started drinking raspberry leaf tea around 28 weeks (1-2 cup/day) and am going to up my intake to 4 cups/day next week. And I'm starting the evening primrose oil next week too. I wanna be ready!

  17. Grace

    cantaloupe / 6730 posts

@redsmarties: That doesn't sound like anything to worry about. I've heard fundal height is notoriously unreliable and it could just be that baby moved or something, which is changing how your belly measures. Plus, if they were really worried, they'd get you in tommorow. Nerve wracking though! Baby is trying to keep you on your toes!

    @JessKas: Lol about "cartoon hands"!

Got ahold of my doctor she said to keep hydrated and that it was fine. The puking and other way has stopped but now it is mild like contractions from my lower back to my front of pure discomfort but I also have the urge to go but don't.it's so weird..right now it does come every 30 mins but I feel like it will go away..just trying to relax and pay attention to my body and staying hydrated.

  19. StrawberryBee

@JessKas: if it makes you feel any better, my goal is to stay under 200lbs ~_~.

@BabyMats: whew! Take it easy and hopefully the weirdness will stop soon.

Has anyone noticed their babe moving more or is it just me? Usually my babe moves for awhile, a few times a day, but also has long periods of rest. Today it's non stop movement. Kicks, rolls, full body stretches. I feel like its trying to claw it's way out of me! I love feeling it move but I'm starting to worry something is wrong! It should be sleeping too right?!

  21. StrawberryBee

    nectarine / 2530 posts

@delight: I'd be more afraid of too little movement than too much ^_^. I can't say they I've had nonstop movement, but it is pretty regular now and coming more frequently? I attribute it to running out of room in there.

  22. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@StrawberryBee: you're right. I'm just being a worrier. I'd be worried if it wasn't moving much too. Makes sense that baby's walls are closing in on it so I can feel the movement more!

  23. MrsB2012

    nectarine / 2466 posts

@StrawberryBee: I've noticed increased movements as well. I read that our amnonic fluid has reached the highest amount by 30 some weeks then starts to decrease after that. When the fluid decreases you feel more as there's not as much surrounding the baby.

I need to have a pregnant rant. Heads up haha. Today kinda sucked. I went to the mall to find something to wear for my shower tomorrow but couldn't find anything that looked good. Plus we don't have any maternity stores so I couldn't even go that route. Then, my dog ate my fav shoes a few days ago. So I went to buy a new pair. Bought 2 new pairs as they were on sale ( yay ) didn't try them on. I already owned them, didn't need to. Got home. Can't even squish my swollen feet into them! So do I take them back and buy shoes that will fit now but (hopefully) not in 6 weeks when the swelling is gone? Or do I try and stretch them out and keep these ones so they fit after? Then, I've (tmi) had lots of pain when I wipe after having a bowel movement. Then I noticed its bleeding. I have mother effing hemorrhoids! I haven't even been constipated! I've been the opposite. How the heck did I get those? Will they go away in a few days? Or is thus something that's stickin around until after the baby comes and the pressure is released? I'm so mad! Ugh! Ok, rant over.

@StrawberryBee: I have no triangle either - or not that I know of - so you aren't alone! What is raspberry tea leaf and what should I be getting it and using it for?

@BabyMats: sorry you had a rough little while - glad you are feeling better now!

@JessKas: Ok I am feeling totally out of the look on this tea and oil stuff...someone fill me in! And I'm going to start googling! Thats great you'll have 5 weeks to prep - color me jealous! Hope your shower went well!

@MrsB2012: Sorry for your unfortunate day! I have been struggling with shoes too...I dont know whats best (stretch out new shoes or buy ones that wont fit post baby) I have been holding off because I am remaining optimistic that my feet will go back to normal. As for the bathroom incident - I have been through this. My Step Father said its normal and unless it becomes a big issue (i.e. is happening every time you use the restroom) it is mild and will heal on its own. If you notice ongoing discomfort or major bleeding it may be worth mentioning to your doc at your next appt. I had this happen (I noticed it when I switch from my fiber 1 cereal on vacation) and panicked...he calmed me down - so try not to worry too much.

AFM...I had quite a funny preggo lady scare moment/incident. I got home around noon yesterday and had an icky feeling stomach (and I was feeling some mild contractions on top of it) the kind of stomach when you know you are about to go have a nice 30 minute break on the toilet. Well - I quickly panicked that my body was "discharging" everything because labor was coming (much like @BabyMats:) and my doctor had also warned me that this is common as your body preps for labor. Then as I was...ahem...straining a bit...I started to panic irrationally that I was going to push the baby out. Seriously irrational pregnant lady moment. However I was in so much crampy paint that I was terrified I couldn't get down to the first floor to get my cell phone to call someone for help (I was home alone). I have now decided I am keeping my cell phone with me at all times just to be safe...I told DH this story and he died laughing that I thought I was going to be one of those "I didn;t know I was pregnant" women who accidentally delivers while going #2.

The nursery is getting so close to being done. Just need the mattress and blinds hung! I'll snag some pictures today of the closet which I am so pumped about! Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

@delight: I often have to talk myself down off the ledge and remind myself the last time I felt her move if she's not kicking me RIGHT NOW. I read a response by an rn to a blog I found on Pinterest that freaked me out (which I will not subject you girls to!). It was in regards to frequency of movement.

@MrsB2012: I would go back and get one pair that fits you comfy now. Too-small shoes will just make you feel miserable! I've only had hemorrhoids once (non pregnancy related) so I'm not much help there. I defer to @Mrs D: :). *hugs* have a good time at your shower!

@Mrs D: red raspberry leaf tea is supposed to help you have more effective contractions. It helps tone uterine muscles. Evening primrose oil can be taken both orally and...ah...at your baby's exit point ;). I believe it's supposed to help your cervix ripen faster?

I have a feeling that when early labor does start and I'm waiting hours at home that I'm not going to eat :/. My body is routinely upset by food, and I'm not as concerned with pooping during delivery as I am with (TMI!) having a looser outcome. I haven't been able to take fiber since I've been pregnant.

Anyway, back is currently hurting and I haven't felt her move yet this morning, so I think I'll go poke at my belly for a while

  26. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

Started taking my red raspberry leaf tea yesterday; when I went to the health food store, the lady at the counter was like "Oh yes, just about everyone at your stage (in pregnancy) is buying this stuff up." Good to know I'm not alone! The tea is MUCH nicer when its iced with some honey (not BAD hot, just not wonderful). I figure I'll drink 1 large cup a day for the next 2 weeks, and then when I hit 36 weeks I'll start amping it up. We'll see if it helps!

My SI joint pain just keeps getting worse. Its to the point now where I can sit/lie in one position for about 1/2 hour before I have to move - and then moving is painful!! Standing up after lying down for awhile? Forget it - takes at least 5 minutes for my hips/pelvis to pop back into place and let me put pressure on my legs! Seriously hoping this goes away once baby's here!

@Mrs D: So glad you can find that funny now! I know the panic...its irrational, but in the moment, totally real!

@MrsB2012: Oh, hemorrhoids. Let's hope they disappear when there's less pressure down there.

Hi ladies! Sorry I am so tardy for the party. I just came over from WB (MrsMaskatoBe). The August board is dead there, so I am excited that this board is more active.

I found the original survey, but modified it a little bit

    Name: Jordan
Is this your first baby? Yes!
Due Date: 8/31, He's a little ahead, though.
    Weight Gain: 23 lbs.
Nursery theme: Orange and aqua with chevron accents.
    Baby Gender/Name: Boy named Beckett.
When & how did you find out? December 18th, 2012.
What are you most excited for? Holding my baby boy.
What are you least excited for? PP recovery. Yikes!

@Mrs D: This is helpful info on the Evening Primrose Oil.

    http://www.essortment.com/naturally-inducing-labor-benefits-drawbacks-evening-primrose-51100.html

I read it can also help prevent tearing during birth.

The raspberry leaf tea helps tone the uterus for more effective contractions.

@redsmarties: I like the raspberry leaf tea iced as well!! I brew a pitcher every other day and drink it through out the next few days. Hopefully it helps!!

@OklahomaMama: Welcome and congrats!!! We are definitely not a quiet board!

DH and I went to the zoo with my SIL and BIL and their two kids this AM...walking around from 9:30am-12:30...exhausted!!! I am still pooped from it! And did not get much done around the house...guess I'll have to be productive this week...

@Mrs D: I would definitely wait until at least 35/36 weeks to start the evening primrose oil. Though it might not do anything, because it helps to thin/efface the cervix, you might not want that starting too soon! The tea is okay, as far as I know.

@OklahomaMama: Welcome! Beckett is a great name - love it! And an orange & aqua nursery sounds fantastic - can't wait to see some pictures!

@OklahomaMama: welcome! I just came over to this thread from WB as well. It's funny on how that site Aug doesn't move and on this site it doesn't stop! Wish I had seen this one earlier, it's hard to catch up with everyone this far into the game

@JessKas: I also heard about the primrose oil helping to prevent tearing, bit so you think that's only if you do it vaginally? I'm going to start taking it orally around 35 weeks probably.

I had ,y shower today, it was really nice. A lot smaller then originally as its a long weekend here and most people are out at the lakes, but that's fine with me. I feel really awkward having showers. It was really nice though. We had a brunch at my moms, played a couple quick games. I got some cool stuff, especially as I didn't have a registry. I got one of the video monitors that you play on your phone /iPad etc, but I, wondering how it works for sound. I'll have to see if you can hear the baby. Got lots of books, blankets, bath stuff, a diaper bag, not much clothes ( thank goodness haha ) lots of practical stuff

I'm really excited now that I've had the shower I can really get to work on getting the nursery together. We're kinda doing a Paris/travel theme. Doing pink, grey, and brown colours. I think it will come together quite nicely.

    @BabyMats: Yea! I'm glad you're feeling better!

@delight: My baby seems to go in movement spurts. For a while, it seemed like he was kicking all the time, the last few days I was thinking he wasn't moving much at all. Then I just did a "kick count" an got 10 kicks in 7.5 minutes. So, it seems to vary. I think it has to do with Baby's position.

@MrsB2012: Hugs. There are moments, when pregnancy sucks, sometimes. I hope today has been better for you!

@Mrs D: Lol - I've had that irrational fear too. I've reminded myself several times, mid BM, that women generally have contractions before pushing out a baby.

@StrawberryBee: I never thought of the "looser outcome" situation. Dang - something else to worry about that I can't control.

@OklahomaMama: Welcome! It'll be nice to have you here for the home stretch.

@StrawberryBee: @Grace: @Mrs D: thank u.feeling much better. It was a funky feeling. Thank God for DH, he has been amazing at taking care of me and handling all the cooking cleaning and other household stuff. I feel blessed to have a great partner.

I'm am now interested in that oil and tea I have my 35 week appointment on Wednesday and see if they are cool with it.

I have also been experiencing a lot more movement from the baby. I love it. No matter how uncomfortable he makes me, it just makes me feel happy. I feel myself smiling more every time he moves.

  38. Mrs D

    grapefruit / 4545 posts

@redsmarties: Thats what I was reading last night - that the oil should really be in the last month or so - so I'll wait a bit. Though it seems taking it orally may be safe to do earlier...

I have an irrational fear of tearing. My sister and my mom both went through labor too quickly to have epidurals so I am pretty much terrified this will be the case with me too - as such I'd like to do anything and everything possible to keep it as comfortable down there as can be!

@MrsB2012: Your shower sounds similar to mine - I only had about 20 guests which was so nice because I could actually get around and chat with people! Glad you got practical stuff - thats the best!

So its July 1...which means in this month it is likely that one of us (likely you earlier Aug bee's) will have your bambino THIS MONTH!!! AHHHH!

Today I am signing up for Day Care (I've had the place picked for a while - just actually going in to do the paper work) and all of our classes (which will be completed this month). I asked my mom to plan to come over July 14th (two Sundays) to help me 'finalize' the nursery organization. Basically I just have to complete our registry, get all the toiletries and get everything sorted and in a proper home. I have two more pics of the nursery I'll post from my phone once I get to work. Crazy how its all coming together and the end is near?!!!?

@OklahomaMama: welcome! Aqua and orange are our nursery colors too!

@Mrs D: I've had that fear of pushing the baby out while going #2 as well! I guess I've watched "I Didn't Know I was Pregnant" too many times! I was also out of the loop on the tea and oil.

@MrsB2012: I have no show advice as I've just been totally living in flip flops. But you said you bought two pairs...could you take one back and get a size that fits you now? I just know too small shoes would make me miserable...plus, I've heard stories of ladies' feet not going back down to their original size after pregnancy. Maybe you should just get one pair to hold you over and wait to see what size you need a few weeks after baby is born...

@MrsB2012: glad your shower was nice. Sounds like you got some good useful stuff! I also feel really awkward at showers!

AFM, I got some good nursery organization done this weekend. Got all baby's clothes washed, sorted, and out away, although I need to buy hangers still. I also put feeding stuff away in the kitchen and bath stuff in the bathroom that I'm thinking we will use for baby. We also picked up the chair from Toys R Us and got some materials for a book sling project I'm planning. Still on the list:

    1. Put in the closet shelving.
    2. Order fabric for curtains, changing pad covers, book slings, and crib skirt.
    3. Sew curtains, changing pad covers, book slings, crib skirt, last crib sheet, quilt, and a pillow for the chair.
    4. Finish mobiles and hang.
    5. Figure out toy storage.
    6. Paint milk jug for table by the chair.
    7. Buy rug and lamp.
    8. Make and hang wall decor.
    9. Finish organizing everything.

Wow, that's a lot of stuff still, and only 7 weeks left to do it all! Ahh! That doesn't count going to classes, packing hospital bags, shopping for the stuff that's still on the registry...it's getting so real! Better get to work while I have the day off today!

Ok - here are some progress pictures! Just a little more decorating to do (buying the mattress and getting the bedding set up, decorating the book shelves with pictures and hanging the blinds) then it will be ready for the final reveal! Oh ya, and cleaning the rest of the crap out of there!
