This weekend was hopping for this board! I’ll try to catch up…
@strawberrybee: Say what?! The doctor CHARGES to fill out paperwork for you?! What the… Shouldn’t that be included in the cost of the visit?? Sheesh!
Yay for a good work shower, and awesome for big tickets items getting picked up!
@BabyMats: I hope it’s just food poisoning also (not that is a good thing to contract), but better than pre-term labor!! Feel better soon!
I too love feeling baby movements and smile each time it happens. Even if it hurts and I have to push back, but it’s definitely reassuring everything seems to be going okay with the baby!!
@redsmarties: Maybe your LO had a growth spurt since we are nearing the end, and our LOs are prepping to make it on their own soon. My OB said as long as I’m within +/- 3cm of where I am week wise, she’s not worried.
@JessKas: I’ve been living in flip flops this past week also, except for when I go to work. Even flip flops are a bit snug as time passes (they leave indentations on my feet).
@delight: DS has been moving a lot more, which I love. I also feel like his movements are more “swoosh” like than actual jabs like before. I’m thinking he’s starting to run out of room because my belly will change shapes and conform to his movements. You can actually see my belly shifting! While before, it was just little kicks/taps on certain parts of my belly. My OB also said if I feel 5 distinct movements in an hour a few times a day, then everything is okay. It doesn’t have to be hourly.
@MrsB2012: Even though you’ve been regular, would taking a stool softener help with the hemorrhoids if they continue? I hope they don’t, of course! As for shoes, I’m guessing your feet will go back down to their normal size once all the swelling goes away post-birth.
As for the monitor, do you remember what brand it was? We have the foscam and we love it!! The sound is really clear also.
@Mrs D: OMG!! I totally had a similar thought about going #2 and accidentally birthing this past weekend!!! Glad I’m not completely crazy. Ha!
Love all the organization in your nursery!
@OklahomaMama: Welcome, and I totally got giddy that you’re from OK!!! I was born and raised there. Hubby and I constantly thinking about moving back to OK one day. Plus, all of my family still lives there!
@StrawberryBee: @JessKas: Thanks for the insight on the raspberry red leaf tea! Guess I’ll be picking some up soon as well!
As for me, work threw me a baby shower last Friday, which I thought I was really nice and thoughtful of them since we’re not really close. They all pitched in and got 2 big gifts so that was great. My reporting boss got us an activity mat and a portable changing pad so looks like we only have a few outstanding items left to pick up later this month.
Last night was the first time labor actually hit me like it can be possible at any time in the coming weeks since I’m 5 weeks away from the EDD! Holy cow that’s crazy!!! My maternity pictures are also at the end of this month when I’m 38 weeks. It’ll be flipping hot, but I can’t wait to take them!
What do you ladies have planned for July 4th this week?
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Alivoo01: Yeah, I don't think it was the size that worried them (I was measuring 'small' for quite a while, and they weren't concerned.). I think it was more the "hey...5 cm in 2.5 weeks is a lot...lets check it out". I'm sure its nothing. Baby also flipped position between my 31 and 34 week appointments, so that could have a LOT to do with the change in measurement. Oh well! Just means i get to see her again!
@Mrs D: Beautiful nursery! I am seriously in awe of that closet - maybe I need to get my act together and organize it, instead of just hanging things in a single row. Hm...too bad Home Depot's closed today!

@Mrs D: Love your nursery. I'm very jealous of the closet. I can't wait to get the rest of the nursery organized and ready for the little guy.
Well, I had quite a scare while visiting my brother in Boston. We had spent the day walking around the North End and checking out some the locations on the Freedom trail. I took breaks whenever I needed to and tried to drink lots of water. That night we went to a Red Sox game. In the cab after the game, I started to get really bad pains. They were very similar to strong period cramps. Once at my brother's, I timed them and they were 30 seconds long and coming every 5 minutes. I called my doctor's office and they immediately told me to go to the hospital. The fact that the doctor on call barely let me finish before telling me to go to the hospital scared me even more than the pains. We took off for the nearest hospital.
Being Boston, there are dozens of hospitals. My brother just picked the closet one (Tufts) which happened to be a high-risk prenatal hospital. I got there, they hooked me up to monitors, and sure enough, I was having contractions. The resident checked for bleeding and did a cervical check. Let me just tell you that these hurt like h***. However, he was male and my AMAZING nurse told me he's good, but not known for being gentle. I wasn't dilated so they just wanted to monitor me for an hour and then do another check. They did an ultrasound to check out the little guy and he seemed fine. So we just had to sit tight for an hour.
45 minutes later, the doctor came back in to see if I was feeling the contractions he was seeing on the monitor. Umm, yeah, obviously. He said they were getting stronger and closer together, only 1-2 minutes. He wanted to do another cervical check (ouch) and it was still closed. He told me that one option he was going to talk to the doctor above him about was admitting me for steroid injections to prepare the baby's lungs. Basically, he seemed very worried that the contractions would start dilating my cervix and we would need to do everything we could to make the baby ready. Talk about terrified. We ended up going with a IV of fluids hoping that it was dehydration that was causing the contractions. After my IV, the chief resident female doctor did a cervical check (not painful) and decided that since I was not dilated I could go home. All in all, it was a pretty nerve wracking few hours. I continued to have contractions most of the night, but they were gone the next day.
Now my orders are ......
1. Take it easy
2. Lots of water
3. No sex

@OklahomaMama: Welcome!! Loooove orange and aqua; can't wait to see pics
@redsmarties: @JessKas: how many tea bags do you use to make a pitcher of iced tea?
@Mrs D: @BabyMats: Don't be surprised if your doctor has never heard of the tea or the oil. I asked the nurse (who had been teaching the birthing class for decades) if she had ever heard of the tea and she had no idea what I was talking about...and didn't seem very interested in learning about it, either.
@MrsB2012: so glad you had a nice shower, and I love your nursery theme!
@Mrs D: oh, how pretty!! and what a large and beautifully organized closet! Ours still has all my painting/craft supplies in it :<.
@Alivoo01: I think my DH wants to host another BBQ for the 4th (small, just his parents and brothers). He usually does most of the work for it, though I was looking forward to just vegging and not feeling the need to entertain anyone on my day off.
@JennyG: Oh my goodness!!! I'm so bad about drinking water, but I have been trying to make a conscious effort to take in as much as I can stand (plus I ate nearly an entire watermelon on my own this weekend). Glad to hear that you were released, and that the contractions stopped.

@Mrs D: I love your nursery! So pretty!
@Alivoo01: It's funny. We got the Foscam too, and the sound is terrible. I think it depends on how many electronics are in your house. We had to get an audio monitor with some sort of different frequency to take the static away.
@JennyG: Oh, that is a scare! I'm glad everything is okay!
Happy Canada Day to my fellow Canadian Bees! We live across from a big park and I want to see if I can see fireworks from my backyard tonight.

Is anyone else freaked out at the fact that so many of the July people went early? Not that I would particularly mind being a few days before my due date. Speaking of which....
A few people at work had asked me what my plan was if I went into labor while we had my stepkids (we have them when I'm 39 weeks and again when I'm 41). As a quick backstory, their mom and my inlaws are both an hour away. I thought that my mother would be a good backup since she's just 30 minutes away, but then remembered she's at her boyfriend's those weekends, so made a mental note to ask her if she minded staying home then (fyi, she doesn't mind ;)). Granted, the chances of going into labor on those two weekends, AND progressing too quickly to get the kids home okay is rather remote, but definitely something I needed to bring up.
Want to know what my DH's response was when I asked him what his thoughts were?
"Well, I guess they'll just have to come to the hospital with us."
Uhm, pardon? You want me to suffer a half hour car ride to the hospital while trying to pretend I'm not in pain for the sake of not completely traumatizing your children? (then again, might be the best birth control ever lol). I highly doubt that the hospital will even ALLOW your 14yo and 11yo to hang about in the waiting room unsupervised and after hours. And then what? You're on the phone with your mom trying to coordinate pickup at the hospital and getting snacks for the kids from the vending machine and trying to convince your mom that she shouldn't sit in the waiting room with them for the next godknowshowmany hours waiting for me to give birth? Call me selfish, but I will be in my own personal hell at that moment (hospital, not labor) and I NEED YOU there with me. 100%. I was ready to kill him.
Uhm...end rant! Gah, MEN!

@StrawberryBee: I've just been making it a HUGE glass at a time - so one tea bag, steeped in boiling water for 8-10 minutes, and then poured over a great big glass of ice. I'd probably use 2-3 bags for a pitcher though.

@JennyG: WOW! So glad that they stopped, and that everything's okay! What a scare! Hope your rest and relaxation does you some good.

@JennyG: that's terrifying! Glad the contractions stopped, but what a scare!
@BabyMats: glad you're feeling better!
@StrawberryBee: ugh! That would annoy me so much! I swear guys just don't get it sometimes!

@StrawberryBee: What the... As JamieLee said, guys are truly something sometimes!
nectarine / 2220 posts
@BabyMats: No symptoms like that for me either, but now when I get even the slightest bit of excessive pooping, I'm convinced I'm going into labour.
nectarine / 2220 posts
@redsmarties: Good luck with your ultrasound! Hopefully all is well. My first thought was GD, but you passed that test, so that wouldn't make sense.
@delight - mine went through a period a couple weeks ago while it was moving constantly too. I think it may just be a window where it's big enough to feel EVERYTHING, but small enough to still have lots of room to move. Now at 34-1 it's quiet again.
@mrsb2012 - sorry you're having a rough time. If the shoes are on a really good sale I'd probably buy one in the size you are now, and one for later. I've heard that sometimes feet spread in general and don't go back, so might be good to keep a pair of "fat foot day" shoes around anyway.
@oklahomamama - welcome! I kind of left that board when I realized the party was over here, too.

@Mrs D: So pretty!
@Alivoo01: Our long weekend was this weekend (July 1 - Canada Day) and we went up to my parents place in the Okanagan. It was super hot and I had my first real experience with swelling, but we got to swim in the lake which felt amazing. I'm going to have to brave the local pool here more often.
@JennyG: Oh wow, how scary. Rest up!
@StrawberryBee: I hate to generalize, but men are sometimes just not the best at practicality and logistics. I asked my husband to do ONE thing - ensure that he has enough gas in the tank to go directly to the hospital at all times. We get in his car the other day, and he's on FUMES - like barely making it to the gas station at the end of the road, light's been on for a couple days empty.. If we have to stop for gas while I'm in labour or God forbid we get stranded because he doesn't notice he's on empty, I'm going to be pissed.

ARGH! Pregnant lady rant coming!
My family has a cottage in Northern Michigan - all my dad asks is that my sisters and I try to get together one weekend at it a summer so he can have us all together (my one sis lives in Chicago).
So Chicago sister went up last Saturday and is staying through this Saturday. My sister here (with a 30 mos old) is going up with her husband on Weds and I was going to head up Thursday AM. The cottage has 2 bedrooms on the first floor (Chicago sister has set up shop in one), a master bed on the 2nd floor and a loft which requires a ladder climb. Two years ago my dad set up the carriage house (space over the garage) so its finished with a lofted bed and bathroom for our growing families thinking we'd like to be "isolated" when we have little ones waking throughout the night.
Today my oldest sister tells my dad that she needs the other bedroom on the first floor and that I should go sleep in the loft in the carriage house. Yes that makes sense...the unstable 8 month preggo one should climb up and down a ladder 7 times a night to pee. When I resist and play the pregnancy card she says then my other sister should move (who is also pregnant) and do the ladder climb,
WTF? She is insane...the sad thing is she has been preggo and knows how it is....UGH!
Now the only one who is going to suffer is more poor dad who doesn't get his daughters together...I feel awful.

@JamieLee: I'm so worried about my feet not going back down after this pregnancy. I already had big feet for my size...And I have a LOT of shoes. Fingers crossed.
@StrawberryBee: I use 4 bags for a smallish pitchers, which I use as two servings.
@JennyG: That would freak me out! My friend had contractions for the 2-3 weeks leading up to giving birth though...I would feel so on edge with that!

@Sapphiresun: see, that's what I was reading (about GD). And it was such a shock that I didn't fail my GD test, I'm wondering if there's something along those lines going on. Only a couple more days of wondering though. Hopefully I'll get answers soon.

@Mrs D: Wait, is she taking two bedrooms? (the master and the 2nd bedroom on the first floor?)

@StrawberryBee: I think Dad's in the Master. Buuuuut... for the sake of peace and if his plan is to move out to the carriage house once you all have your babies with you anyway, maybe he'll go out there this time?

@StrawberryBee: I am definitely a little nervous/excited about the idea of LO coming early. On the one hand, I can not wait to meet him. Plus both DH and I are teachers so the earlier in August i have him, the more time we have DH home without taking days off. On the other hand, the little guy's not supposed to be here until a least his due date so I have until then to get everything ready and be ready mentally.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Sapphiresun: just wondering if the ladder is safe for the 30 mos old. As you say, sounds like the loft might be best suited to dad. Or maybe I'm just reading this all wrong lol

@Mrs D: OMG! What the heck? That is so irrational! I would be p-o-ed too!
@JessKas: I have big feet too, and tried on some shoes in my old size the other day at the store and they didn't fit...
I don't think I'll be able to find shoes anymore! I hope I don't have to start buying men's shoes...lol!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@redsmarties: FYI - all that was dont in the closet was SUPER easy. I had some 8" planks cut to length so they could be the shelves (the shelves are 16" deep - so two planks each) with some small mdf scrap pieces used to hold them up. Then I just bought cheapy sterilite containers from target to keep the stuff organized. The tags I made with some chalkboard and pink paint! All together maybe $50 and the help of my dear dad!
@JennyG: What a scary experience...so glad you are ok. Take it easy and enjoy some special treatment from those around you!
@StrawberryBee: Seriously, men are clueless...I dont think DH gets that he is sleeping in the hospital the night after the LO is born...just clueless.
@StrawberryBee: @Sapphiresun: @JamieLee: Thanks ladies. I was a livid bitchy then crying maniac all night. Seriously...three daughters has got to be just hell on my dad (and our husbands) sometimes. Bitchy sister basically backed out all together and told me that I am a bad person and dont understand how to be a good parent - blah blah blah. She loves to pull the "when you are a mom you'll understand" which just makes me want to rip her hair out! As @Sapphiresun: mentioned - my dear dad in the interest of getting us all together has decided him and his girlfriend will sleep in the carriage house. I dont want him to do this - its not fair that in his home he gets the shaft but I also am not going to be the one to deprive him of his family time. I just cant handle my sister who always needs to 1)stir up drama and 2) plant her damn stubborn food and refuse to budge. Not to mention - she uses (and abuses) the cottage all the time (like takes her friends up there many many weekends in the summer) and never contributes anything or offers to help my dad with the cost. Whereas my other sister and I try to always be appreciative of the use of a free place to stay and leave something as a token. UGH!
grapefruit / 4545 posts
In other fun family news, MIL was offended when DH suggested to her that we may return the convertible car seat she got us in the interest of buying the B-Agile system with the B-Safe infant seat. So now DH feels bad for suggesting it - honestly she is such a practical person I am surprised she acted that way. So now DH will be using the convertible car seat in his car and I'll have the B-Safe in my car which we have to go buy.
Further...my SIL tells me that her gift is in the mail. Now, not to sound ungrateful but my SIL who has two kids thought the most practical thing to get me was 3 fancy hand embroidered burp clothes and 3 bibs. I mean - I appreciate any gifts we get but from a mom to a new mom I would expect her to be more practical than spending $100 on 3 bibs and 3 birth clothes?!
I think my hormones are getting the best of me!
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: oh man! I hear ya on the hormones...sounds like your sis is a drama queen! So is she not going at all now? Stuff like this makes me glad I just have a brother, who is fairly drama free these days...my mom grew up with two sisters and they have been at each other's throats as long as I can remember. My mom was always the go between and after she died, everything just got worse. My dad now refuses to go to family functions where they will both be there...they even tried to make my mom's memorial service all about them...ugh! Well, I hope you can still enjoy your time up north! We're supposed to have gorgeous weather for the weekend, so you have that to look forward to. I though i remembered that you said the cottage was in Elk Rapids...? Will you be coming into Traverse City for Cherry Festival at all? I'm avoiding it at all costs, as its such a mad house!
Also, regarding the convertible seat, just think that you will definitely need one at some point anyways, so while you'll have to spend more money now, it will save you some money in a year or so when baby needs to transition. I know how you feel though. FIL bought us a jogging stroller which was really nice, but I would have rather he bought the City Mini we actually want, because now we're going to have two big bulky strollers, and I don't really foresee myself using a jogging stroller.
And your SIL...! It really annoys me when people spend so much money on really impractical gifts...and you probably can't take them back either...I'm sure they are beautiful, but the point of bibs and burp clothes is to soak up spit up and drool. So who wants to use expensive hand embroidered items for that?
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@JamieLee: Ugh! sisters are great but they are the worst too sometimes! We'll probably avoid the cherry fest bc it'll be crazy like you mentioned! Are cherry's in yet? Usually its later but you never know! I have been craving cherry's! I did really want to go to high five threads in the asylum to get LO a cute Michigan onsie - but it probably wont be in the cards this trip. Or I'll send my dad to grab it next time he is in TC.
I told DH that the nice thing will be having one convertible ready in the basement and not having to spend $600 next year to buy 2 at once. Unfortunately we still have to spend $400 now to get the stroller. And I cant even comment on SIL - why she thought that was a good idea I'll never understand.
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: no local cherries again this year for cherry fest. I don't think they'll start shaking for a couple weeks. All the cherries at the festival are from Washington. There was actually a big op-Ed in the newspaper this year about how the festival shouldn't even be called cherry festival because they keep pushing it earlier and earlier. It's all about the money and Fourth of July weekend is our biggest weekend for tourists so they want the festival to correspond with the holiday weekend so there will be more people at it. We were in TC over the weekend and the traffic was just awful. We usually make it down for the fireworks but I don't even think we will do that this year. I used to work right downtown and I'm soooo glad I don't anymore!

@Mrs D: Your nursery is so cute! I have to start organizing the closet. That's next on my to-do list!
@Alivoo01: Now that we're in July it hit me too that I could technically go into labor any time this month. I'll be 36 weeks on Thursday and my to-do list is getting bigger by the day! haha As for the 4th, you can find me relaxing at my cousins beach house. I don't plan on letting my feet leave the water (partly because it feels so good, but mostly because that's the only time they're not swollen! lol)
@JennyG: Wow what a scary experience! Glad you and baby are ok. How many weeks are you now? It's crazy how much rest and hydration we truly need at this stage of the game.

@Mrs D: I can totally relate to hormones -- I had three minor meltdowns yesterday over various frivilous things. I am sorry to hear about the drams with your sisters. I have one sister and we are constantly bickering too. Gosh. It is strange that you SIL wouldn't have thought to get you a more practical gift. I guess the best thing is you can photograph the adorable little burp cloths and bibs and have stunning photos!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@JennyG: I think as long as I'm ready by week 38, I'll feel comfy with her coming early. Maybe I'll work on our bags this weekend!
@Mrs D: My DH also thinks he'll be running home every 8 hours to let the dogs out. I chose not to even pursue that battle; I know either my mother or sister (if she's home by then) or even my coworker will be happy to do it. And he's had two kids already, I kinda feel like he should know better lol.
*HUGS* I'm sorry your sister's being such a b. I hate it when people pull the "You'll see!" card with that all-knowing tone. Because you can never ever win -- the second you're having your experience they're further down the road and it'll be "just wait until you get HERE, you'll see!" all over again. Apparently she has no memory of what it's like to be pregnant (especially in the end zone like we are!). You're supposed to risk falling off a ladder?
re: SIL's gift: I know, sometimes it's frustrating to see the application of dollars where you would have applied them in a much more effective way. Maybe she figures that moms need to be so practical, it would be nice to have something frilly that you'd never buy ("treat") yourself?
I have a brother and a sister (both younger). My brother is kind of the drama one in the family. He's fairly high maintenance, likes to live beyond his means (though he has gotten better with this. But case in point: a number of years ago he got himself a BMW, couldn't afford the payments, I finally got him to take it to the dealership to trade it in for a practical car. And he came out with a Cadillac Escalade. WTF?). He got a 7 year loan on the darned thing and now owes more than it's worth. But he knows best! Everything always has to revolve around him.
My sister, but comparison, is much more steady and reasonable.

@Sapphiresun: I live quite close to the okanagan, it's soo hot here, was 40 ( or 39 depending on where you looked) here yesterday! It's supposed to be even hotter today. I think we might go to a lake today, the thought of being in a cold lake sounds blissful haha.
@Mrs D: I think this is a common time for hormones to start getting crazy haha. At least you'll have some really nice burp cloths to go with your really nice nursery haha.

@Mrs D: Ugh. I'm sorry there is drama. Hopefully it all works out. And yeah, I don't think people like to get practical things. I got flak about my wedding registry because the items were "boring".
I had my first OB appointment today FINALLY. I really like her. So much less rushed than my GP, explains things better and says the results out loud (like fetal heartrate, fundal height, blood pressure). Got all my logistical questions answered, like where do we go when we go to the hospital. I feel so much more prepared! Plus, she was able to tell that Baby was head done with her butt in my ribs. Which, is what I was guessing, and it's fun to guess right!

@redsmarties: hopefully it's just a change of position/normal growth spurt.
@Mrs D: ugh, sweet thought I suppose. It really does seem like when it comes to babies nobody really cares what you actually want/need. My friend was mentioning nursery bedding and I was like "oh I put a few things on the registry" and she was like "pft, I'm not looking at that. You'll get whatever I think is cute". Awesome... But we ordered a 54" crib which is slightly smaller than standard... So I'm sure I'll appreciate having to go out with a two week old to return it.

@redsmarties: Such a cute baby shower cake! Glad your shower went well
@Mrs D: Your shower looks amazing--looks like you got a lot of great stuff!! And that's so awesome about your LO having a cousin so close in age! Oh I love the pics of your nursery, too! You are so close to being done--it's gorgeous!
@JamieLee: Love all the details at your shower! I should not have looked at the pics of the dessert table...now I want pretty much everything in the pictures.
@Alivoo01: Love that your DH is so supportive! Is it awful that mine has been like, "Ok, so you're getting the epidural, right?!" I think he is afraid of what I would be like without one! Oh, and the pointy triangle totally freaks me out. I find it so difficult to get out of bed without feeling like I am doing permanent damage to our little girl!
@StrawberryBee: Love seeing all the pink in that closet! That's pretty much what ours looks like, too!
@Mrs Hedgehog: OMG your little girl is so beautiful! I am so jealous that you got such good pics--our little girl is a diva already and was not into showing her face at our 3D u/s! I also saw on your other thread that you mentioned the Texas Ren Fest--we got there every year! We should totally meet up with our babies!
@Grace: Oh man, this little girl is all up in my ribs. She is constantly kicking them or just rubbing them with her feet...so weird! Your nursery is gorgeous! Love, love, love the color!!
@.twist.: Ahh yay for painting the nursery--it looks great!
@OklahomaMama: Congrats & welcome! I love the name Beckett
@JennyG: Wow, what a scary experience! Glad that everything is ok now...try to take it easy!
Phew, ok, I am as caught up as I can be--that took 30 minutes!
AFM, I am doing really well! I have still managed to escape heartburn/indigestion. My feet on the other hand are swollen pretty much all the time. I've tried a lot--epsom salt, massages from DH, icing them. The only thing I've noticed that has really helped is drinking a TON of water (like 80+ oz. a day). They look much better this week than they did last week. Luckily I don't think anything else is swollen--my rings still fit fine.
For those of you experiencing baby hiccups--how often do they happen? I notice sometimes a rhythmic pulse that feels like it could be hiccups, but it happens every few seconds, which may be too close together to be hiccups?
I had my maternity photos on Sunday (at a little over 33w). It was SO HOT outside, but I am hoping they turn out well!

@Mrs D: Awesome looking nursery!! Oh wow, my IL's have a cottage in northern MI as well, small world. I love going there, the wineries are amazing but it's a hike from the detroit area, usually a 4.5 hr drive. We've flown into traverse city before but it was a nightmare experience since it is such a small airpor and they ahve no idea what they're doing. That is really annoying about your sister asking you and your other preggo sister to take the bedroom with the ladder! No, you don't ask an 8 month pregnant lady to take the inconvenient bedroom, that is a little selfish!
Also, I hear you on the gift frustration. My good friend who still hasn't bought me a gift actually told me this weekend that she was planning on buying me some fancy baby food maker. Now first of all, she doesn't have kids but she did just get married so she knows all about registries. A baby food maker is not on our registry because we already have a food processor and I am not going to make food for our baby, at least not on a regular basis. And we definitely are being super picky about what 'baby' appliances and gear we allow into our house since it's so tiny and I knwo all that stuff can get overwhelming. So I politely explained to her that we intentionally didn't register for one because we weren't going to need it but I was screaming in my head "That is what our registry is for!!" I mean, she should know this - she literally got married a few months ago. I think she just wants to feel good about herself for 'thinking of something' that I hadn't thought of yet. Um, trust me - I've thought about every baby gear item under the sun already and either ruled it out or put it on my registry.
@lawbee11: I haven't had heartburn or indigestion either yet. My rings are for sure getting tight though and I've got to figure something out soon since I'm only 31 weeks right now and I have the rest of the summer to go with a lot more weight gain and hot/humid conditions. My baby gets the hiccups probably 4-5 times per day and they are every few seconds as well. It usually lasts for a few minutes then goes away. Hooray for maternity photos! I've been debating whether or not I want to do these and so far I can't justify the cost since we haven't found an affordable photographer.
Oh man, this is our last weekend traveling then we'll be home until baby comes! I am really excited to finally get the nursery finished if anythign so people will stop bugging me about it lol!
Is anyone else getting just plain HUGE?? I can't believe how big I am already at only 31 weeks, I can't imagine getting even bigger. I mean my weight gain is still normal, I've only put on about 20 lbs at this point but that is 20% of my starting body weight which is a lot. I'm starting to have to buy maternity clothes in even bigger sizes, I don't know what the best strategy is to stock up for the rest of the summer!

@Modern Daisy: Yes! I cannot believe how big I'm getting! At 35 weeks I've gained 25 lbs so I'm right on track with the weight gain, but now even some of my maternity clothes are feeling snug! I refuse to buy anything else at this point so I'm just sticking with what I have. I remember at 31 weeks thinking there's no way I could possibly get much bigger, but I did! lol Fortunately I don't feel uncomfortable, but it's just mind boggling!
@lawbee11: I hear ya on the swelling! I could barely get my wedding rings on today so I left them off.
Sad day.

@skipper2010: I'm trying to make due with what I have as far as maternity clothes, but the t-shirts are getting short and a lot of my work dresses that are non-wrap style are getting too short and tight around my belly and butt so I have to either replace them or think of something else. I'm thankfully not uncomfortable yet either which is kind of surprising, but being this big is so weird to me and I just can't wait to go on a diet lol!
