@MrsB2012: I'm getting the same morning period cramps. My doctor said it's just my uterus getting ready. Reminds me how much I hate period cramps ;P

@redsmarties: My nausea has come back the past few weeks. Not as bad as the first tri, but only because it's not constant. It seems to randomly hit me. I've thrown up randomly a couple times. I read that the progesterone increases in the third tri which could bring back nausea. Also there is so little room in the stomach, which combined with heartburn/acid reflux, could cause nausea. Ugh.

@MrsB2012: yep, period cramps here too, just in the morning. And only for like 15 minutes or so, so nothing too bad. @JessKas: ah yes, that sounds right. Welcome back, hormones!

I've had a couple moments of nausea in the last month. The last two days I've had a ton of BH. I am hoping for another cervical check tomorrow morning since she gave me one last week. I didn't find it too uncomfortable and I'd like to know if I have dilated more.

@Mrs D: Fancy meal plan! I hope to get some freezer meals going too. Not going to worry about snacks for guests though. I think they should know better than to expect that they'll be fed.

@MrsHedgehog: Ooooo, I hope your shower was super fun!

I went swimming today and I've noticed that LO is super mellow when I'm in the water and for a goos stretch afterwards. Anyone noticed that?

@Mrs D: Wow! That's quite the plan. We only have a teeny apartment size freezer, so I think we'll just be depending on take out and the kindness of my family to deliver us groceries/meals.

@MrsB2012: I've been having cramping too. But today is full term day over here too! Baby is welcome to make its appearance any time now.

@MrsB2012: looks like I'm not the only one with these craps too! They made me worry at first but, like yours, they weren't timeable. Just uncomfortable

I have also been dealing with a tight, exhausted belly lately. It's like I am stuck in one giant Braxton Hicks. We are only 35 weeks on Tuesday so she needs to cook just a little longer.

You guys also weren't joking about getting nothing but clothes at your showers! Like, the only people who didn't give us strictly clothes were my parents and my grandparents! Don't get me wrong, they are all super cute, but you can't raise a baby on clothes only! Why did we even bother with the registries?

I also don't want to sound ungrateful.I am VERY grateful for everything we were given. They didn't have to give us anything at all.

Thank you so much for all your thoughts and prayers!! They have been much appreciated.

Jackson is still in the special care nursery. He has been weaned completely off oxygen and IV fluids. He's still getting antibiotic shots while we wait for results from his second blood culture. His bilirubin levels are high so he's getting phototherapy. The levels were much higher on Friday and he needed two lights and a special blanket on him. Overall, he's improving everyday. I'm able to nurse him now and am doing so. The hospital gave me a room on the pediatric floor to stay in. During the day, I hang out in the nursery, but at night they call for me to come feed him.

Hopefully we'll be taking home on Tuesday if his bilirubin levels come down and his blood culture is negative.

And here's a little peek at my love...

I'm currently in L&D, contracting regularly, dilated to almost 4, waiting for the on call dr to find out what's going on.
I've felt off for the past couple days, crazy pressure, increased contractions, feels like she's grabbing my cervix with every contraction. Oh and a really stuffy nose that started last night. I tried to ignore it all, I did goid not coming to the hospital at all this pregnancy (compared to the 10+ times last pregnancy).

Now to work on naming this girl!

@Sapphiresun: I read in a book that one of the best thing you can do as new parents is accept the help of others. I totally plan to tell my mom "we could really use dinner provided one or two nights this week" and my dad only lives 10 mins away and drives right past a grocery store to get here - so he'll be getting frequent grocery lists prior to his being allowed to visit his granddaughter!

@MrsB2012: I will have the same issue - which is why I am planning a bit "bigger" than needed! DH doesn't understand the need to prep food - he just wants to eat food now!

@Grace: I agree - I am just one of those irrational crazy people who freaks out if I have nothing to offer visitors...plus I love baking so its kind of relaxing for me!

@JennyG: Glad to hear he is improving each day - thats the most important thing. And HOLY CUTENESS!!! Such a handsome boy!

@StbHisMrs: Good Luck!!! Will be keeping my fingers crossed for smooth progression for you and the little princess!

I have my 34 week appt this afternoon (though according to my calculated due date I am 35 weeks Weds). I have been having some sharp pains down there when I stand up after sitting for a while and even some pain when I go #1. Not like a bladder infection but just some weird pain. Going to tell the doc - also had some contractions that were much stronger than the normal BH ones I had been having. Hoping all of this means I can get checked today and see how I am or am not progressing down there. I am supposed to go to my cottage this weekend (w/o DH but my Dad is there so I wont be alone) - DH is not keen for me to make the drive along (3.5 hours) but so long as there is no action down there he'll get over it he said. Unfortunately he has been to two birthing classes...so he said a softening cervix is enough progress that he doesn't want me going if thats the case. Sometimes his ignorance is better than him being knowledgeable!

On a side note...we had our hospital tour this weekend and it was great! Our nurse was amazing - I hope she is there when we go in for labor. We decided to allow family (my parents and their respective others, and DH's parents) into the LDR room immediately after birth if they are so inclined. Only my mom is being given up front access to LDR before baby comes - if DH's mom wants to come in and I am comfortable I will allow.

Also - I am delivering at the hospital my step dad has his surgical rights at. At a family dinner Friday my step dad basically said "just find a way to mention that 1) you are my step daughter and 2) DH and FIL are attorney's and you'll be treated like a super star"...haha Apparently hospitals are terrified of Attorney's.

First off, what a busy morning in our thread! Wow!

@Mrs D: that's an amazing meal plan, I am so so jealous. I wish I had freezer room. I am going to have to rely on our families to help us out in those first few weeks!

@JennyG: Ooooh he is just so precious!! I'm glad he is doing well and hope you and Jackson get to go home soon. I'm sure you can wait to be back in your home. What a cute little boy!

@Mrs Hedgehog: I actually hardly got any clothes at my shower. Maybe because I'm Team Green? I am a little worried I don't have enough clothes for the beginning. I am having another shower after the baby comes, at the end of August so hopefully ill get some more clothes then! At least it will be hot so baby can just wear a dipe and a blanket for the first few weeks

@StbHisMrs: keep us updated today! Maybe it's for e best to labour comfortably at home for awhile. Best wishes though if today is the day! How far along are you?

@Mrs D: haha back to you again! Wahoo cottage weekend! I'm still planning on going to our cottage Thursday or Friday and coming home Monday. My DH, MIL and SIL will be there though and a decent hospital is 20 mins away. I'll see what doc says at my appointment today though. If I have dilated more it might not be a great idea. I don't care about having the baby at the hospital there, I just don't want to be 1.5 hours into the 3 hour trip and go into labour in the car. I have the sharp pains when I get up after sitting too. I find it hard to sit on the couch and watch tv these days so I usually just bounce on my ball. I never hurt after getting up off my ball. It's heaven.

Kind of hoping it rains today so DH will stay inside and build our dresser/ change table. My nursery is so empty and I really want to start organizing the baby stuff!

@Mrs D: Heehee, your stepdad is so smart.

Girls, I've suddenly developed a horrible time sleeping. I doze off only to wake up with back or hip pain. Have any of you found the magic sleeping position?

  26. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Grace: oh I haven't slept well in a few weeks. I'd say I'm up every hour or so having to pee and or/ get comfy. I find it hard to lie on my side from the hip pain too. The only thing that helps is my exercise ball and a big body pillow. They are not providing total relief though. I figure I'm just in for some bad sleeps for the next few months or so.....

@JennyG: glad to hear he's doing well! He's so cute too! Fingers crossed that you get to bring him home tommorow.

@Mrs Hedgehog: we got a lot of clothes at my second shower. I took a lot of stuff back though. If you can figure out where things came from, that would help a lot. I ended up with a huge Target gift card from taking stuff back.

@StbHisMrs: ahh! Keep us posted on how things are going! If you're ready to have her, I hope you make some progress and get to meet your girl soon.

@Mrs D: if you need a hospital while you're up here, Munson in Traverse City is very good. I'm sure you won't need it though.

AFM, we had our hospital tour last week. It went well. I'm feeling good about our hospital. The rooms are nice, the hospital policies are in line with what we want (skin to skin, delayed cord clamping, etc). There's only four rooms with deep tubs though so I need to make sure to request one when we go in. We also had our all day childbirth class which was very informative. And we got our master bedroom cleaned and rearranged and the Pack and Play is set up. I'm going to vacuum out my car (the backseat is full of dog hair from our last trip downstate) so we can install the car seat tonight. I still need to clean the living room, kitchen, and bathrooms, and finish the nursery. I haven't had too much in the way of cramping so I'm thinking baby is going to stay put for a little while longer. I have my 36 week appointment today, and I have an ultrasound next Thursday to check baby's size and position.

@StbHisMrs: Good luck, Mama! Hope your LO is in your arms soon!
@JennyG: Oh my goodness, he is SO precious! Love love love! I hope you can take him home soon! Glad to hear he's getting better each day!

AHHH! I am full term today too! Super nervous and excited! We had our final baby shower on Saturday and pretty much were given the rest of the things we really need. (So spoiled ). Installed the carseat and had it inspected. All I need to do now is clean, a little more laundry and finish the nursery. His little bassinet is all set up in our room. So, we're ready, Little Guy!

I have been for the past four days having an increasingly intense cramp in my right side. Doctors were called and they said if I can sleep through it, it shouldn't be a problem. Last night though, I woke up practically screaming in pain! It felt like someone was stabbing me in the side of the stomach. DH said that my belly was hard as a rock too. I was able to make it dull down by switching positions and fell back asleep. But man, what a terrifying, painful moment. I have a doctor's apt. tomorrow and will ask about it then, since right now at least its gone. Hoping that it just means that my guy is moving down and these are just intense movement pains.

@StbHisMrs: Bummer you got sent home! I have a feeling you'll be back there soon though!

@Mrs D: I've been having those sharp pains when I stand too! I'm guessing it's just from the pressure of baby dropping. It's not all the time or unbearable, but it makes me waddle. haha

@JennyG: Awww, congrats! He is so precious!

@Mrs Hedgehog: Oh, I totally know what you mean! I made such a stink ahead of time about not wanting clothes that we really weren't overloaded with them, but now I kind of wish people had given us clothes isntead of books. We got so many duplicate books and we don't actually need that many - but now I'm realizing that we really need to stock up on clothes and it's kind of stressful. But I agree with you, I am so grateful for every gift we got since people obviously didn't have to get us anything. Teh only thing that kind of irked me about the gifts were some key people in our lives who decided to lazily contribute a small amount to a gift someone else had already purchased. For me it's the thought that counts and that took zero thought and was also kind of cheap of them considering how much DH and I spent on their weddings and babies!

@Mrs D: Awesome freezer meal plan! I also plan on making at least a few freezer meals, but due to limited space it could only be about a week's worth of food. I think we'll pull them out on days when there is just no way we could leave the house and we are so sick of takeout.

@greenebee: Sorry to hear about the pain Glad your shower was a success!

  32. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@greenebee: I had one of those last night, too - I went to roll over, and all of a sudden BAM - there was this ridiculous cramp/pain in my side, and I couldn't move. But then it went away.
@Grace: Yeah, I'm waking up every hour or so to switch positions - and even when I find one that works, its only comfortable for a little bit. I've resigned myself to this being the norm for awhile.

Have my 38 week appointment today (but I'm 37+4). Pretty excited that things are going so quickly; I'm going to talk to the midwife about the nausea and cramps, ask whether the raspberry leaf tea and evening primrose oil are worth it, and hopefully just get a little more insight into how things are progressing. We'll see! Baby could come any time (WOW).

So we assembled the snugabunny swing this weekend and I'm having regrets about it. The thing is massive. It's bigger than our dining table and crib. There is only one spot we can put it in the apartment without totally tripping over it, and DH still manages to stub his toe on it regularly (he is a little clumsy so this is a regular problem for him). I knew it would be big, but I had no idea it would be this huge. I just don't know if I can deal with it being in our apartment. I don't have the receipt, but I can see if maybe we can return it - of course DH threw away the box though so mailing it back to Amazon won't be easy. If we get rid of it though, I'll need something won't I? I mean, we have the babybjorn bouncer, but I was really looking forward to having a swing especially at first since that is much better for smaller babies and the bouncer is for when they're a little bigger.

  34. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@Modern Daisy: Oooh, I didn't realize the swing was so big! I've heard fantastic things about it, but we're not getting one just for the space issue. We have a Rock n Play and borrowed a bouncy seat - I guess if we need a swing, too, we'll look at the travel swings that BRU sells. Hope you can return it, or exchange for something smaller!

  35. Modern Daisy

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

@redsmarties: Yes, it's so big that we can't even fit it through a doorway. It has to stay where it was assembled. But even if we could fit it through a doorway there is nowhere else it can go because the base is so huge. I'm going to look into it now and see if we can exchange it. I think we should have gone with the Rock n' play instead, but I liked the idea of having the actual swing.

  36. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Modern Daisy: holy that swing sounds huge! We have the Ingenuity Bright Stars swing and it's small and folds up when not in use. Maybe you could get something like that?

So I'm at my weekly appointment and OB was just called away to do a C Section. Ahhhhhh so annoying. The nurse said we are unlucky because they usually aren't on call the same day they run their clinic. Super. I was 3 people away from being called in. So now I have to walk around the hospital and waste time for an hour and a half then go back. What a pain because I know when I go back my appointment will be 2.4 minutes long. Le sigh.

  37. Sapphiresun

    @StbHisMrs: good luck!

@Mrs D: I made meatballs and froze them for quick pasta dishes and my husband seriously asks every day if we can eat them.

@Modern Daisy: we had to skip the swing for space reasons too. We have kind of a little seat thing that I think vibrates... So hopefully that will be enough.

  38. Modern Daisy

    grapefruit / 4187 posts

Okay, I just called Amazon and they are willing to take it back! Let's just hope they actually refund me instead of the gift giver this time, lol! I've only returned on other item and even though they swore up and down the gift giver wouldn't even know it was returned, they emailed the giver with confirmation that it was mailed back and refunded them instead of me!! So the guy swore this wouldn't happen this time - my fingers are crossed.

@delight: I looked at your swing and that is much better! I also might just get a Rock n' Play since DH really wanted to have a bassinett and I skipped THAT for space reasons.

  39. Mrs. Oatmeal

    blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts

@Modern Daisy: Glad it all worked out! Obviously, I don't know yet, but I've heard RAVE reviews about the Rock n Play. Although, lots of people swear by their swings, too...so I guess you've got a decision to make haha.

  40. JamieLee

    clementine / 930 posts

@Modern Daisy: the swing is massive. Our house is decent size, so it's not a big deal for us, but I was surprised by how big it is! Hope it all works out for your return!
