@.twist.: So precious!
@JennyG: Congrats, mama! Hope you guys are out of the NICU and home with your little one soon!
@StrawberryBee: Good for you for not backing down on what you want though. Skin to skin and delayed cord clamping is the standard practice here so I'm glad I have no need to fight for it.
@redsmarties: Happy SUPER Friday!
As for me, DH and I work together, and our work hosted a lunchtime shower for us yesterday, and we were beyond spoiled... to the point that DH was feeling pretty bad about it! We work with 90% men, and the few girls that do work in our office get put on light duties at a different office if they fall pregnant, so I'm the first pregnant woman to actually be there in over 15 years. We usually do a group gift card for guys whose wives give birth, but not actual showers with presents. Plus we get hit up for double contributions for everything, so I don't think there's a real reason to feel guilty.

@Alivoo01: best wishes tomorrow! It's baby time!
@lawbee11: I like some of the nursing tops at motherhood but no idea what size to get in nursing stuff.. Pre-pregnancy size?
@Sapphiresun: that is so nice of your work to throw a shower and super cool that you and DH work together. Did you two meet at work? A little office romance?

Can't believe there soon will be 3 August babes! This is all feeling a little too real!
@lawbee11: how are you feeling? Glad your hospital stay was short! Hope that swelling goes down!

@delight: I wear a small in Motherhood nursing stuff (that was also my pre-preg size). I feel much better. I had my 36w appointment this morning and my BP was really good, so that's a relief. My OB said she isn't too worried about the contractions since my cervix is closed and I can't feel them, but she said I need to rest and prop my feet up whenever I can and she doesn't think I should exercise anymore
@Alivoo01: Good luck today!! You're going to do great!

@StbHisMrs: @.twist.: @sarbear: @JamieLee: @lawbee11: Thanks ladies!!
I'm on the Pitocin drip, and they've already upped it once. I'm starting to feel the contractions. I'm also starting to get hungry, but am limited to ice chips and popsicles.

@lawbee11: I saw your other thread about the swelling. Glad everything checked out fine! So crazy that you were having regular contractions, but couldn't feel them. Guess your body is getting ready!
So I think it was @redsmarties: who said this stage is like an intense 2WW and I couldn't agree more!! I'm 38 weeks as of yesterday and totally "symptom spotting". My thoughts have ranged from "I'm having more loose BM's that's a sign right?!" to waking up with a sore throat and googling "cold symptoms before labor." haha crazy person right here! It's a weird feeling knowing that labor could happen at ANY time, or I could still technically have a month to go. I forgot to ask my OB what their standard practice is for going past your due date. Does anyone know how long their OB/Midwife would let them go before intervening?
ETA: @Alivoo01: Eeeek!!! Just saw your post as I submitted mine. Fingers crossed for a smooth delivery! You'll be meeting your little man SO SOON!!!!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@skipper2010: At my hospital they don't let us go more than 10 days past due date. I totally symptom spot too and google everything as well. My latest was "headache as early labour sign?" Turns out it's not. That's great you are 38 weeks though. I'm only 36+2 so it feels like it can still be a long ways off.
@Alivoo01: eeeeeek so exciting. Thanks for update! You're gonna do awesome!
@lawbee11: Make sure you listen to your doctor's orders! I would have no problem with no exercising
The extent of exercising is a walk around the block these days.
I'm sooooo hot I hate it! Even with AC on I am sweating buckets. I am about to go to my friend's house for a swim because I just can't take this anymore!! Then I get to go see my best friend's new baby yeah!!

@skipper2010: I asked my OB when they induce, and they said unless there is a medical reason they wait until between 41 and 42 weeks.

@lawbee11: That's good. Just take it easy - you've done awesome to be excersicing this long!
@Alivoo01: Whoohoo!! And I'd totally be sneaking food. I think this whole no eating during labour thing is rediculous.
@skipper2010: I think we go right to 42 weeks before inducing.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Grace: yeah, honestly at this point it just bothers me because I know it's wrong and can't seem to convince them of it. In the grand scheme of things it isn't the end of the world, just frustrating! I'd be curious to hear what your doctor thinks of it, if you happen to ask her.
@Sapphiresun: I forget where you're located? Unfortunately at some point I'm going to have to back down, because there's only so much I can try to convince the doctors that what they've been taught is wrong. Short of hiring a doula.
@lawbee11: I was watching your other thread too, so glad to hear it was nothing urgent!
@Alivoo01: thinking of you today!!!!
@skipper2010: my ob won't let me go longer than 42 weeks (and I'm sure they start pressuring you once you're beyond 41).
38 weeks today and I had a lot of abdominal weirdness last night (result of the cervical check?). Was seriously thinking that it might continue into early labor, but it seems to have subsided.

@Alivoo01: Yay - so excited this is all happening! Hopefully it progresses quickly so you can get some yummy food! Keeping you in my thoughts today!
nectarine / 2466 posts
@skipper2010: I agree with the 2WW and symptom spotting.. I'm not 37 weeks until Sunday and I'm already symptom spotting. Yesterday I woke up to lots of cramps and sharp pains down there. Nothing regular though. Then I had a really easy day, a pedicure, light house cleaning, a friend came over. Suddenly at like 6 I was so exhausted, I took the dog for a quick walk and was in bed and asleep before 7 :S I didn't get up until after 8 this morning. So of course I google "extreme fatigue before labour" haha
They induce us at 10 days after your due date I think
@Alivoo01: Good luck today, hope it's quick and painless
@redsmarties: I think it's your last day of work today? If so, happy last day of work!!
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Alivoo01: good luck today!
@skipper2010: I'm driving myself nuts too. I had a little stomach upset this morning and was convinced it was clearing out my system for labour. Orrrr... It could be the weenie roast hotdogs I had for dinner last night.
@StrawberryBee: I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Fraser health region has their policies pretty much across the board and it seems to be a pretty "crunchy" district haha. West coast is known to be a little hippie so it's not surprising our birth philosophies are skewed that way too. I read the bump and posts here and was prepared for a uphill battle convincing about skin to skin and delayed clamping and breast feeding right away only to walk into my ob office and they had floor to ceiling size posters advocating that these are the "best" way.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Sapphiresun: awesome, thanks! my family/coworkers also think I'm crazy for going against what the doctors are saying. Luckily I have a friend who teaches Bradley Method who obviously is a proponent of the crunchier side of things ;).

@Alivoo01: I hope everything goes smoothly for you today!
@lawebee11: I was small pre-preg also, and now I could supposedly fit both small and medium, but medium does seem to make more sense. Sounds like we'll be wearing the same nursing bras and tanks! I had my Strep B swab yesterday and it was no big deal. No cervical check yet.
@Redsmarties: Good luck with your nursing bra/tank search!
@delight: My Motherhood tanks are smalls and my pre-pregnancy size is varies between XS and medium depending on brand.

@delight: ugh. The heat is brutal! Even post preg, I am sweating buckets. I think it's probably hormones? It's awful.

@.twist.: I read somewhere that for the first couple of weeks after having a baby you sweat extra. Gets out all the excess fluids.
Hope you are baby Lukas are doing great!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@JessKas: that would make sense. I blew up after Lukas was born, more swollen than ever! But now, a week later I am not swollen at all (that I can tell...). But yea, I sweat like crazy.
And thanks! We are doing really well! He had a bit of jaundice, but it seems to be clearing up nicely. He's been a really good baby so far.
and freaking cute as a button!

Finally the heat is breaking here!!! Thank god!
DH and I have our hospital tour today (we have been taking classes at another hospital close by), I am working on Baby Kate's stroller blanket right now and then have to do some actual work work!
Tomorrow we have our completion event at BBB - after that I can turn off the money faucet and we'll stop spending money prepping for this baby! Cant wait!
I'm also finalizing my freezer meal plan this weekend - once its done I'll share! I was planning to make LOTS and I have trimmed that back to what I think is practical and necessary to get me thru the first 4-6 weeks! Like I said - I'll share when I am done prepping it!
@Alivoo01: Thinking about you - hoping all is well!!!

Just got back from my first ever trip to Target, and I LOVE that place. Honestly, I got three nursing bras and three nursing tanks (that actually have some support) for around $85 - I couldn't believe it! Especially because the tanks I was looking at at Thyme were $40 each. And the bras were way more. Hooray for Target.
Like a bunch of other ladies, there are totally uterus-things happening ALL the time. I'm having sporadic cramps, weird twinges, and a ton of Braxton Hicks contractions. We'll see how things go!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@redsmarties: I think I am having lots of BH today too but I don't know. Sometimes it feels like it's just baby moving against my stomach making it tighter, but there is something going on. It's not painful at all, just tight. Still spotting regularly too so who knows? My SIL's dad, who is one of the lead OBs here thinks I'm gonna have baby sooner rather than later.
Oh and I love the target nursing tanks too! I ends up splurging on a Bravado bra elsewhere though today.

@Mrs Hedgehog: How fun! Have a great time!
So, the last two days, I've been feeling nauseous pretty much non-stop. Like, first trimester nauseous. Anyone having something similar? Am I back to gingerale and soda crackers for the next little while?
grapefruit / 4545 posts
@redsmarties: my stomach has not been right the last few days either...I'm also having looser and crampy feeling BMs (sorry about the TMI but I think we are beyond bashfulness here!)...
I haven't adjusted what I am eating yet - but I pretty much get two bites in to anything and have to force the rest down!

Ok Ladies...Here is my condensed freezer meal plan. Initially I had a crazy plan to have food prepped for like 2-3 months...now I am aiming for the first 6 weeks with the focus on ME and having quick access to easy food while BF'ing.
Dinner Meals (each meal should result in 6 servings):
-Mexican Pepper Stuffing, enough for 4 dinners (will only need to put in peppers and bake day of)
-Meatloaf, 3 whole frozen raw
-Beef Burgundy, 2 dinners (freezer meal...just dump in crock pot)
-Lasagna, 2 9x13s cooked, cut in half, frozen
-Taco Soup, 2 dinners (freezer meal...just dump in crock pot)
-Chicken N Dumplings, 2 dinners (freezer meal...just dump in crock pot)
-Chicken Teryaki, 2 dinners (freezer meal...just dump in crock pot)
-Quiche, 2 whole, cooked frozen in halves
Soup (for easy lunches for me - planning to freeze 2 qts of each):
-Chicken Corn Chowder
-Baked Potato
-Zucchini
-NE Clam Chowder
Baked Goods (easy snacks for me, easy to pull out for company):
-Oatmeal Raisin Cookie Dough, 1 batch (frozen in balls raw)
-Choc Chip Cookie Dough, 1 batch (frozen in balls raw)
-Banana Muffins, 24 muffins
-Blueberry Muffins, 24 muffins
-Oatbran Muffins, 24 muffins
-Zucchini Bread, 1 batch, frozen in 4 mini loaves
-Coffee Cake, 1 bundt cut in half and frozen
-Lemon Poppyseed Cake, 1 bundt cut in half and frozen
Also, I am going to buy the following pieces of just meat to have in the freezer to have easy meal solutions where I just need produce and a starch.
-Pork Tenderloin (4) - we eat this a lot!
-Stuffed Chicken Breast (8)
-Stuffed Pork Chops (4)
-Stuffed Pork Roast (2)
-Whole Chickens (4)
In total I have about 40 dinners, 30ish of which will provide left overs for me for lunch and DH for subsequent dinners.
My plan is a Beef Day, Chicken Day and a Baking Day. The soups I plan to make 1 each weekend for the next 4 weeks. Tentatively schedule to all be completed by 8/4/13...fingers crossed I can stay on track!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@Mrs D: Man, you're ambitious! That sounds like a fantastic plan. And I know that if I were the one who cooked around here, I'd be doing the same thing. Luckily, cooking is DH's stress reliever, so we're not so concerned about prepping ahead of time.
That being said, I am baking a crap ton of things this week to have for snacks - partially because I'm a stress baker, and partially so I have easy access to a quick snack.
nectarine / 2466 posts
@Mrs D: wow impressive meal plan! I've been making stuff and freezing it for a few weeks now and husband keeps taking it out and eating it. Not the way it's supposed to work right haha.
@Mrs Hedgehog: have fun at your shower!
The last like 3 days I've been waking up to mad cramping in the morning. Nothing regular like contractions, just really bad period like cramping. I'm not spotting at all and no signs of my plug coming out. So kinda odd.
I'm super happy today is full term day
the wait is on
