@chanzi: I had/have an ambitious freezer meal plan but it doesn't start until late July/early August! I'll share the details tomorrow when I'm on my computer not the iPad!

I've been making stuff to freeze but husband keeps eating it haha. I made breakfast sandwiches that turned out well, English muffins with egg, bacon and cheese. Then I made a healthier version with the small flat bread things, egg whites with spinach and turkey bacon. All those are gone.. I have a couple lasagnas, turkey burgers, beef burgers, meat balls, soups. I'm not very good at making full meals, but more bits of meals I guess.

I made 'padsicles' today haha. I got a pretty thin Kotex liner, soaked them in water, cut them in half and then put a tuck pad on top. Then I froze them and once the tucks stuck to the pads I threw them in a bag. Here's hoping that as I made them I won't need them . Our instructor at our prenatal class recommended having something to help with pain after birth.

Arg! I wrote out a big response and the tubes ate it. *sigh*

@Mrs D: yea, I was in a gown through the whole labour. I ate a few pieces of toast afterwards, but for the most part I just wanted to sleep.

Things are going well here. The lack of sleep is starting to catch up to me. Can't wait for some more of you ladies to have your babies! I'm feeling like a lonely August mama!

We are also getting more into a routine, which is nice and I'm hoping to be able to keep up here a little better!

@delight: Okay, yeah - it's good to know I'm not alone! My Dr. was concerned and cut me off mid-sentence when I was describing it to grab the nurse to do a pelvic exam and ultrasound, but once he saw how thick my cervix was he immediately wasn't worried anymore and said he didn't know what it was, but I am at low/no risk for preterm delivery. My Dr. is young and very 'by the book' so if there are any alternate explanations that arent' in a textbook he never provides them. So your guess is as good as mine at this point, but at least I know it's nothing bad!

@StbHisMrs: No, I actually have RLS - restless leg syndrome. I feel like I want to move/stretch my legs all the time, especially at night. And it's such a strong sensation that it keeps me from falling asleep at night. I started experiencing it in my arms a little too and my Dr. said that was carpal tunnel.. yikes!

@Modern Daisy: I find taking a bath/shower right before bed helps with the rls a bit. ....provided I fall asleep before the legs freak out again. Ooo - also putting a heavy blanket on them. Something about the weight seems to help.

    @.twist.: Awwwwwwww

@.twist.: Oh, he is so precious, thank you for sharing!! You've brightened up my morning

@Grace: Thanks for the tip! I've thankfully discovered that it sort of waxes and wanes so it's not just getting worse and worse. DH does make fun of me though when I'm on the couch at night sprawled out in unladylike positions trying to get comfortable, lol!

@Modern Daisy: hmmm too bad doctor didn't offer any insight. I'm going to go with my theory that we are expanding and more air is getting trapped and making gurgling sensations/ noises. Gross but oh well.

@MrsB2012: great idea about breakfast sandwiches. Love them! I immediately googled how to make and freeze and found this link. Not sure if its what you used, but just in case anyone else wants to make some here it is:

@.twist.: oh he is so cute!! Glad things are going well, I think lack of sleep is inevitable! Can't wait to join you on the mom front!

@Modern Daisy: I have awful carpal tunnel syndrome. I used to get wrist pain and finger tingling and shooting pains when I would work on the computer too long or sleep funny. For a while I wore a wrist brace when I was sleeping. Well, over the last couple weeks, I wake up to numb arms and hands and my fingers, hands and wrists ache and feel so weak. I get a lot of finger tingling as well. Apparently the fluid retention/swelling makes the carpal tunnel smaller which compresses the nerve that runs through there. It really stinks and makes it hard to do simple tasts like writing my thank you notes!

@.twist.: nice to hear from you momma! Adorable baby boy! His little pout is so sweet.

@StbHisMrs: OMG! Hubby and I already had a mini heart attack when they told us we were getting induced this week. If she had told us we were getting induced THAT day, I would seriously faint. It wasn't until we heard about the induction that we REALLY got a move on getting things together, washing clothes, opening baby product packages, etc.

@.twist.: Lukas is so darn cute! I'll be joining you soon as I am getting induced this Friday! Guess Lukas called my baby and said come join me!

@delight: Sounds like you have a ton of nap time options for LO. Thanks for the input! Glad to hear your appointment went well and the bleeding is just a sign of things getting ready. You must feel relieved!

@.twist.: So good to hear from you! Your baby is so precious! Hope you're enjoying every moment. As far as lack of sleep goes can you try napping while he naps? Mama needs her rest too!

So apparently my little guy didn't want Lukas to be the only baby born early. My water broke last night after childbirth class around 9. By 5:30 in the morning, Jackson Robert was born. I don't have any good pictures yet since they took him to the NICU shortly after birth to give him oxygen and watch him more closely since he's only 35 weeks. Right now, I'm busy praying that his levels improve and he doesn't have to be transported to a bigger hospital.

@Alivoo01: oh wow! I hope everything is ok!? I'm super excited for you!

@JennyG: OMG! Congrats! My little guy was 35 + 6 and did really well. The NICU nurses take such good care of those little babes. your little guy is going to do amazing! My best tip is to get a lot of rest in the meantime. Your body will heal better and you will be able to be there for little Jackson that much more. Eerie! Congrats!

We apparently have a lot of impatient little boys around here!

@delight: Ha, I am no help because my boobs have pretty much stayed the same size. The bra is pretty stretchy, so I would guess you're fine ordering now. I also have 2 coobie bras that I've worn throughout pregnancy, and they are SO comfortable! They are not technically nursing bras, but they do have a clip on the strap that you can unhook, and they are one size fits all. They're also really reasonably priced and I always see codes online for buy one get one free.

@.twist.: Gah he is soo cute!!

@JennyG: OMG, congrats!! I will be thinking of you and Jackson!

@JessKas: Thanks for posting that link! As soon as I am officially on maternity leave (end of next week -- eee!!!) I'm going to be so on that!
@Modern Daisy: I've had bouts of RLS lately too, although not as bad as it seems for you. I'm sorry it's become such an issue! I hope that you feel better soon! @Grace: Thanks for the suggestions, I'll be trying those out too, if my legs freak out again.
@.twist.: He is so precious! Glad to hear that you guys are home and settling in! I think all of us are kind of chomping at the bit to join you! Much !
@JennyG: Wow! Congratulations, Mama! My thoughts are with Baby Jackson! I hope he's doing better and will be in your arms exclusively soon!

Agree! We've got impatient little babes wanting to join the world! This is so exciting!

@JennyG: OMG! Congratulations and welcome to the world Jackson!!

@.twist.: DS is measuring small for his age and my amniotic fluid level is low. They're worried so they rather deliver him sooner than later, and feel like they/we can do more for him on the outside than in utero.

@delight: yeah that's the site I got the idea from. I cooked the eggs in the oven in a muffin pan to make it quicker. If you grill them in like a panini maker after they're frozen they taste way better then just microwaving them. Husband liked them both ways.

@JennyG: congrats on baby! Hope he's out of nicu soon!

Had my 36 week appt today. Nothing exciting, had the lovely swab done. Measuring rightin track. She didn't do a cervical check but when she felt by belly she said babe is in excellent position and head is low. She's right down in my pelvis so I'm happy with that. Now onto weekly appointments, now it must be close

@JennyG: OMg! Congrats on the arrival of baby Jackson! Hope everything looks good with his levels and he can stay put.

I had my hospital tour and pre-registration today. It seems like the maternity ward at our hospital is really nice and the policies are pretty in line with what I want, birth plan wise. And now DH knows where we are to go when the time comes, so that makes me feel better. I also worked on some wall art for baby's room today. I hope to do more Friday so I can get some up!

So much action on this board with babies making early arrivals and things moving in that direction. I had some cramping and back pain this afternoon, but it went away. Hoping baby boy will stay put for a few more weeks, but would be excited to meet him anytime really!

@delight: got my Thyme PJs in the mail last night...I think we will be rocking the exact same PJs for recovery! They are so comfy! I ordered 3 pairs...the three piece set that you got was the most comfortable and best fitting - so its the one I am keeping.

I also got 2 nursing tanks from Target which are awesome! I feel good for the first little bit now - I'll wait to get anything else until after I see how big the ladies get!

How is everyone holding up in the heat? Its brutal here...I'm trying to chug water but still feeling the effects and some mild contractions because of the dehydration!

  31. delight

    pomelo / 5326 posts

@Mrs D: ooh awesome glad you love the pjs. I do too! The little sweater is cute! I wonder if we have the same nursing tanks too! I got the navy and cream striped one and the grey one with the buttons at the top. It's like we are in grade 2 planning our outfits so we match at school!

The heat is BRUTAL, I hate it. I like trying to get in a short walk each day, and no matter what time I go I am always sweating buckets. I have book club this afternoon and its a pool party. I'm counting down the minutes to that!

@skipper2010: it has been awesome to go through pregnancy with my best friend. I secretly hoped we'd be at the hospital in labour at the same time. Haha.

Back from my dr appointment! "a little less than" 2 cm dilated (I think she then said something along the lines of 1+?), and 70% effaced! Still measuring on target, my BP was good, baby's heart rate was good, and GBS negative :D.

now on to the less than steller part of the appointment. Here's how my conversation with a different doctor than last time (at the same practice, but she's older and doesn't seem 'with it', if you get what I mean) went:

me: What are your thoughts on skin to skin and delayed cord clamping?

dr: oh yeah, we can do that. Well, I mean, we'd have to keep the baby below for a few minutes to allow the blood to flow to her, and it's really more for pre term babies, but I guess studies have shown that there's a benefit for all.

me: What about if you did immediate skin to skin and just massaged the cord to push the blood?

dr: oh yeah, we could do that. *pause, as she thinks about it* But the blood would flow out of the baby.

me: well, I meant massaging the blood towards the baby.

dr: oh, yeah. I guess we could try that.

(WTF LADY, WERE YOU/DID YOU ACTUALLY THINK I WANTED YOU TO MASSAGE BLOOD *AWAY* FROM MY BABY???!!)

me: well, I guess we're really only talking about a few minutes here, so if you allowed the cord to stop pulsing and then put her on me, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

She then told me that the placenta would pump blood away from the baby. I just decided not to argue with her and pray to god I don't get her at delivery.

@lawbee11: @Delight: That's the Bravado bra that I want too! I'm not sure what size I should get though, so I might just wear tanks at first and order the bra later? Although I would probably be good with a Medium… It confuses me that I can supposedly wear both Small and Medium but I guess I'm more likely to go up than down!

@Mrs D: I'm looking forward to seeing your freezer meal plan!

@JessKas: I looked through that list of meals too. I've never done a freezer crock-pot meal though so I'm kind of afraid to try a lot in case they end up not working very well. I have a few on my list but a couple are things I've made and think will work for freezing.

@MrsB2012: Haha, I made some popsicles I thought I could eat during labor but now I'm afraid I'll eat them all before then! You've inspired me to freeze some breakfast options though. I'm thinking of not toasting my muffins so much and reheating in our toaster oven instead of the microwave.

    @.twist.: Awww, what a cutie!

@JennyG: Wow, congratulations! I hope you are are all doing well.

@Delight: That's so exciting! It sounds so nice to already have a friend for your LO. Here's hoping we all have fast and easy labors.

AFM, I bought nursing tanks at Motherhood yesterday. I didn't like the way the Target ones fit either, @StrawberryBee! I was only going to buy 2 but I ended up with 4 since they were buy 3, get 1 free. Is this overkill? I figured if I might eventually want 3 then I should just buy them now… But it was kind of a lot of money so I'm leaving the tags on at the moment, especially since I'm nervous about my size changing too. Return policy is 1 month which is exactly baby's due date. Gah, maybe I should have waited longer!

@Alivoo01: How are you feeling?? Tomorrow is the big day--so excited for you!!

@MrsB2012: Glad your 36w appt went well--I have mine tomorrow. Not looking forward to that swab!

@delight: That's awesome! Bring on the epi!!

@Mrs D: Ugh, the heat blows. I basically am only outside when I walk from my house to my car and my car to work!

@StrawberryBee: Sounds like you're making good progress as far as dilation/effacement goes--very exciting!

@chanzi: Pre-preg I was a 34B (which would be a small), but I got a medium so I'll have room to grow. The medium actually fits me pretty well now, so I am glad I didn't get the small. I am planning to get 4 tanks at Motherhood, too!

@chanzi: I did the buy 3, get one free as well. I figure I'll be living in them for the next few months, so might as well not be doing laundry as often!

The doctor did warn me I might have spotting after the cervical check today, and sure enough I did, even though I didn't from the first one. so FYI!

Look at how close we're all getting, ladies! Glad that appointments are all going well, excited that some of you are already dilated!

I'm done work TOMORROW! Can't even believe it, I am SO excited. Hoping baby girl gives me at least a week off to enjoy before she makes an arrival, haha (37 weeks today). Planning a trip to Target for the first time ever, and also planning to check out Motherhood for nursing bras/tanks (the girl at Thyme makes me mad!)

Found out that DH's work is throwing a shower for us next week - can't believe it, we've been so spoiled! Can't think of ANYTHING else we might need (especially clothes), so it will be interesting for sure.

The heat is intense, you guys. 42 Celsius and up with the humidity - thank goodness for air conditioning and a pool. Our above-ground pool is 90 degrees (Fahrenheit) - its barely refreshing, haha!

@StrawberryBee: So *two* different doctors are telling you the gravity thing? I'm kinda indifferent about the cord clamping, but now I want to ask my OB about it just to see what she says. But good to see that you are making progress otherwise!

I just got 5 nursing tanks/tops online from Motherhood for less than $100, and I already have 1, so I think I am set! They are having buy 3, get 1 free, and I had a coupon for $20 off a purchase of $100 or more, so I added one more to my cart.

I should have mentioned the coupon earlier! I have one more and I am not planning to use it, so let me know if any of y'all want it (I can write the code on your wall). It can be used at motherhood.com, apeainthepod.com, or destinationmaternity.com. It expires 7/28.
