@Delight: that's awesome she's such a great traveler!! Maybe you should travel more often... haha! And that picture of her tongue sticking out is adorable. especially with her hands over her head, she's totally chilling and is like "don't bother me here!"
@Mrs D: that picture is awesome!! haha!

@redsmarties: Aww, I'm sorry you're both sick. That sucks. I think it's just survival mode again. We haven't been sick yet, but I did injure my back, and could barely walk, nevermind carry her around, so we pretty much had dad drop a bunch of toys on the bed when he left for work and we lazed around all day, and she probably got to eat way more than she should have. Hope you both get well soon!

@Mrs D: oh my God, I'm *rolling*! That picture is awesome XD
Anyone else losing tons of hair?
E has discovered her voice. Lots of time spent shrieking/singing out loud!

@StrawberryBee: uh. .my hair is falling out like crazy. It's so gross after I blow dry and straighten it..I have to vacuum it all up almost every day it's so bad haha.

@MrsB2012: I have a giant clump in the shower drain after every shower! E has bits of my hair on her at all times. And when I sit in meetings at work I have to be near the trash can -_-;;.

@StrawberryBee: I thought I'd escaped the hair loss when three months hit and I wasn't losing it. Alas, the last week or so I'm clogging the shower drain on the regular. Fortunately I have a fair bit of hair, so can afford to lose some.

@StrawberryBee: K found her voice a few weeks back. Now when she plays on the piano kick mat she just shrieks at herself - its pretty funny. You can hear her through the whole house. Everyone in my family is so surprised that she just "chats" non-stop...I think its bc I talk her ear off all day!
Tomorrow is the first day I am dropping her at DayCare...fingers crossed it goes as smoothly as this week has gone!

@StrawberryBee: @MrsB2012: yes! What the heck on the hair loss?! I heard it was going to happen but it's crazy. It's coming out in clumps, I have to swiffer the floor multiple times a day. If L wears her terrycloth pjs she is covered in my hair!
@Mrs D: hope day care went well! Let us know how she did!
@Modern Daisy: best costume ever! Love!
L has found her voice too, I love hearing her talk! I love that when she wakes up she talks to herself in the crib!
I was able to put her down once yesterday and once today so far for a nap without nursing to sleep! Wahoo! The other times I tried she cried, but it's a start. I nursed to drowsy then put her in crib and walked away, She made a few noises, but within a couple minutes was asleep. I think the key for me is getting the perfect timing and not waiting too long to put her down for a nap. I would love to be able to stop nursing to sleep by the new year, just so other people can put her down. My DH is taking 3 months parental leave starting march so we need to change things around here a bit.

@Mrs D: @delight: Ha, when E was finished feeding at 4am this morning she started cooing/talking/serenading me. Honey, that's cute, but mommy wants to go back to sleep now ;).
@Modern Daisy: aww, I love C's expression!
DH messaged me a little while ago that E was no longer backed up...and that consequently he needed to do some laundry. I shouldn't laugh, but...

Not even going to try to catch up. Paige's naps are do short that there's not much HB time. Sounds like everyone's LOs are doing great! Paige had discovered that her hands are delicious and she rolled over three times in a row two weeks ago. Scared the beejeebers out of herself and it hasn't happened since. Oh, and she's loving singing. I sing Twinkle Twinkle Little Star to her as I put her in her sleep sack and she gets the sweetest smile on her face. So cute.

@Mrs D: Good luck with day care! Hope it went smoothly.
LO is four months now. Still not rolling AT ALL because she hates tummy time, but she did sit up by herself for about a minute! I'm sure it was quite comical, because I wasn't sure how steady she was, and my camera was on the table, but didn't want to move too far away in case she took a header so I was trying to have my arms out to catch her, and reach for the camera with my foot. But I missed the moment

@delight: @Sapphiresun: Thanks ladies!
Daycare went awesomely I think! The ladies at the center just loved her and said they faught over cuddle time with her during the day. I was nervous about her ability to nap there (flat on her back, noises, etc) but they said she took 3 one hour naps, which is awesome! I'm feeling really good about it so far. She was so tuckered out that she fell asleep on me at 7pm (I should have put her to bed) until I woke her up to eat at 8:30 and put her to bed. She then slept until 8am - thats her longest stretch ever. We still put her down between 8:30-9pm and I am thinking all the stimulation at day care may be what pushes her bedtime up to 7:30 going forward.
I'd love that extra hour at night. As it is now, I finish feeding her at 8:30/9, put her down, wash up the kitchen and go to bed...I am usually asleep before my head hits the pillow since I am so exhausted from getting up at 5am everyday to pump. I'd love that extra hour to hang out with DH, maybe even shower and do my hair so my mornings are easier and I'd have time to workout.
Speaking of working out...guess who is the same weight as she was when she left the hospital...THIS GIRL! WTF! I am thinking I may only EBF until after the first of the year - at which point I will have to kick my butt in gear and lose this not fun weight!

@Grace: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star is a favorite over here as well.
@StrawberryBee: Yes! Losing hair left and right. Got so spoiled with fabulous hair during pregnancy.
@Modern Daisy: So cute!!
@Mrs D: Good to hear that daycare went well! It's been going pretty good for us too. I love picking him up and seeing that he's full of smiles whenever he sees me. As much as I wish I could be home with him every day, I think it's good for him to socialize with the other babies.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Grace: I'll have to try Twinkle Twinkle
@Sapphiresun: wow, sitting up! We propped E up in a chair last night for her 4 month photos, but I don't think she could have sat there on her own (she kept on slumping down lol).
@Mrs D: Ha, I'm pretty sure I weigh more. I'm avoiding the scale like the plague. I just keep on reciting: 9 months on, 9 months off.
I think E is starting to prefer DH to me *sad face*. He watches her during the day, so I guess it's just natural, but I can't say I'm not a little bummed. She'll track him with her eyes when he talks/is in the room (as she nurses).

@StrawberryBee: LOL @ the blowout. DH takes care of rinsing out DS's blowout clothes also. So, so glad. haha!
@Grace: Aww! omg!! That's so cute about the twinkle twinkle little star smiley face!!!
@Sapphiresun: DS is 4.5 months old and isn't rolling over yet. If he's lounging on the bed at a slant with a pillow, he'll try to roll over, but if he's flat on his back. Forget it. Not moving. Likewise while on tummy time. He'll push himself up for a few seconds then just lay down to go to sleep after awhile or get upset.
That's so cool she sat on her own though!
@Mrs D: Yay to hear daycare is going well! And I hear you on the exhaustion! DS still isn't STTN and has multiple MOTN wakings. Sigh. He also caught his second cold. That's one a month now. Double sigh.

Well ladies...after two weeks back at work I think I am drying up already! I was only able to get in two pumping sessions at work and I think it drastically affected my supply. I gave K her first bottle of formula today and she took it like a champ. Now I am watching to make sure I dont notice any rashes or anything and then I'll start clipping enfamil coupons like a mad woman!
I'm hoping to still be able to give nurse her at bed time and first thing in the morning - but who knows how long that will last. I think I am going to spread my freezer stash in case I completely dry up because I'd like to give her at least one bottle of BM a day for as long as possible.
Anyone else have supply issues when they went back to work?
clementine / 930 posts
@Mrs D: I am not working but I've had supply issues from day one and I attribute it to having to pump for the first five weeks. I wasn't able to get in enough pumping sessions and S wouldn't latch. I've been fighting an uphill battle ever since. I still don't produce enough for him...
My best advice is frequent pumping (which sounds like it's not an option), and drinking lots of water. You could try herbal supplements too...I tried More milk Plus Special Blend, fenugreek, and blessed thistle, but I don't know if it helped...also, supposedly oats help, so eat oatmeal for breakfast. And lactation cookies taste good even if they don't help...lol. S has had formula from the beginning (save for two weeks when I thought I was able to EBF him...he only gained 5 oz in two weeks). I was really sad about it, but I've got to feed my babe and I've tried my hardest to EBF but it just hasn't worked...
clementine / 930 posts
I am so behind on the posting!
I took S to the ped today because I thought his soft spot seemed puffy. She said everything seems fine, but I think I'm now one of those moms...I'm just always so worried! I think I need to look into going back on my anxiety meds.
Otherwise, we're doing well. I think we're into the four month sleep regression. My good little night sleeper went from one wake up at 5 or 6 am to waking up every two hours. I'm hoping it's just a phase. I think we also might be starting teething because he's a drool machine and he's always got his hands in his mouth. I can see little white spots on his gums too...
Anyone else have teeth coming?
pomegranate / 3329 posts
I've missed so much! Took Charlie to her 4 month check today and she has lost 2lbs The Dr. said that it could just be that she'll be small like me, he was happy to see her rolls and said he wasn't too worried. Told me to supplement with rice cereal and root vegetables, and I'm suppose to drink fenugreek tea, and vitamin d. I'm going to make another batch of lactation cookies (they did seem to help me) and I eat steel cut oats daily so I'll keep that up with flaxseed added in.
@Mrs D: Yes, my supply has dropped suddenly in the past week. I'm not pumping enough, the lactation consultant told me that I need to pump/feed at least 8 times a day. I've been pumping in the morning before work, once at work (2) then again before bed, since she goes to work with me I nurse her 1-2 times there, once in the evening, twice at night, and in the morning. I need to change that up.

@Mrs D: sorry about your Milk issues. I hope you can continue to give K some milk daily. When I was first pregnant I signed up for coupons and free samples from lots of companies and Enfamil was one of the best. They sent me tons of formula. Unfortunately I just donated all my formula to the food bank or I would have sent it to you! But try signing up!
@JamieLee: sorry for your sleep issues, but hopefully your LO gets back on track with sleeping. We hit 4 months tomorrow and L has woken up a few more times this week. She also used to on,he wake up once, and sometimes sleep right through, but a couple nights she's been up 3 times. No signs of teeth here, but she does drool a lot.
@StbHisMrs: so sorry C lost weight! That must have been hard to hear. Hopefully you can find more times to feed or pump and get your supply back up!
We don't have our 4 month checkup until next week!
nectarine / 2530 posts
@Mrs D: aww, sorry to hear about your supply :(. Mine definitely slowed the second week into work, but I attributed that to the mini pill. I cut out the pill and started making/eating lactation cookies, and it seems to have come back up.
@JamieLee: I was so scared that the doctor would say something about E's flat spot, but when I pointed it out to her and she checked it out, she said it was normal and would round out on its own. It's hard not to worry about things...and nope, no teeth here!
@StbHisMrs: Lost two pounds since her three month checkup? Sorry to hear, but at least the doctor doesn't seem too concerned . Hang in there, momma!
E had her four month checkup yesterday, and today we took the stepkids and had a family photo taken and visited Santa. A good day, but exhausting.
Annnnd E has now woken up again, so off to put her back to sleep I go!

Anyone else find themselves in the 4 month sleep regression? I know I've had it easy up until now but L has gone from waking up once a night, sometimes even STTN, to getting up 5 times. Ugh!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@JamieLee: DS constantly has his hands in his mouth. The moment he pops off after nursing, his hand immediately goes into his mouth. He's also been drooling a lot more this past week, but I have noticed the lil white dots in his gum line for over a month now, but no teeth protruding out yet.
@delight: DS's sleep has always been bad and it only gets worse here and there so I feel like we've been in a sleep regression since month 2! haha!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
As for me, I've been placing DS on the floor to see if he'll sit up on his own or not. Normally, it's a no as he leans/falls to one side, but yesterday, he actually sat up for a good minute!! And it happened more than once! Ah, the little things.
Sleep training also came to a halt as he caught a cold so RSV last month and cold this month. Awesome. No fever and he's acting normal so I'm thankful. We're back to co-sleeping, but he's been able to put himself to sleep at night which is great. Now if we can only work on keeping him asleep... And for him to do the same in his crib when he's well again.
grapefruit / 4187 posts
@Alivoo01: Wow, sitting up that's so advanced!
DS has been rolling all around like a little madman, but no sitting up yet. We have been bad parents and haven't been giving him tummy time so he wasn't able to lift his head up until this week. Our pedi gave us a hard time, but we avoided TT until now because he HATES it. Like throwing a fit, crying like he's dying and taking hours to recover afterwards. So we just do our best to comfort him and play his favorite music while it's going on.

@Mrs D: Sorry about your supply. That's really disappointing. I have the fenugreek supplement and have heard that it works, but makes you smell like sweaty syrup, so I'm holding off taking it until it becomes an issue. I find the biggest thing is staying hydrated.
@delight: Yep, I think we're fully in a regression. My baby used to sleep about 9:30-5:30 or 6am, wake up for a quick feed and go back to sleep until 8:30 at least. Lately she's been refusing to go to real sleep until 10:30, waking up at 2, 3:30, 5 and up to greet the day at 7. I've started napping with her again in the day because I'm just too exhausted. Which is not helping me get my Christmas errands done. Luckily DH starts holidays on Friday so I can get baking, wrapping and decorating done after that I guess.
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Alivoo01: Yay another sitter! it's so cute, isn't it?
@Modern Daisy: Mine is the same about tummy time. She hates it so much, and I don't know how to make it better for her. She either lays down and whines pitifully, or throws a full on fit that takes me at least half an hour to calm her back down from. So, I'm a little negligent with the tummy time as well.
cantaloupe / 6730 posts
@Mrs D: Have the long sleeps because of daycare continued? I'm glad it's gone so well.
@JamieLee: Has the every two hour wake-ups continued? Hellobee has me scared of the 4-month regression and I wonder how much worse it is than all the other growth spurts...
.@delight: Ugh, the STTN to 5 wake ups has to be rough. I'm hoping that since I've never had STTN, that it won't be so bad for me...
@Alivoo01: Poor baby! I hope he feels better soon!
@Modern Daisy: Lol! Your LO learned how to hold his head and roll all at once? I wonder if you'll have one of those kids who stand and then just run!!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@Alivoo01: ah man two colds already!? I'm dreading L's first cold! My snot-nosed nieces and nephews were touching her face this week and I almost yelled at them but bit my tongue. I know she's bound to get a cold sooner or later. Hope your LO shakes this one fast!
@Sapphiresun: sorry the sleep regression has hit you guys too! Sounds like our LO's were sleeping about the same before! She'd have a quick feed at 5/6am and go back to sleep for a few hours. I'm finding naps are difficult too. I had just started putting her down awake for her morning nap and it was going well until this week. Now if I want her to sleep at all I have nurse her to sleep and even then I'm only getting 30 mins tops. I'm not looking forward to what the holidays are going to do with her schedule!
I'll be back tomorrow to update after her 4 month shots. I'm guessing she weighs about 14,4 but I could be totally off. I haven't had her weighed in a month.

Ugh...so far behind...we have had so much going on here! 1) my sister in Chicago is due any day now...we're all on pins and needles 2) DH and I have an offer in to buy a house and are frantically getting our house ready to sell 3) K has been under the weather since Weds - maybe a cold, maybe allergies...not sure 4) work is insane right now!
So - my supply is not as bad as I thought but K is eating more. Bottom line - I am comfortably pumping 12-14oz a day but K is no longer nursing from me (her choice) except for first thing in the morning and right before bed. Apparently she has gotten lazy all other times and prefers the easy bottle! We are giving her 1-2 bottles of formula a day to supplement so I can spread my supply out longer. I am still pumping twice at work along with once in the morning and once in the evening...plus our two nursing sessions. After Christmas Break (Jan 2) I'll drop down to one pumping session during the day and the one first thing in the morning and freeze everything with the hopes of giving her breast milk as long as possible. I also plan to keep up our two nursing sessions as long as possible - until I dry up!
K slept terribly Sunday night because of her stuffy nose - literally up every hour. Thankfully she was back to her normal 8:30pm-6:30am routine.
I dont think she has gained much weight. We'll see at her 4 month check up on Jan 6. She was 11lbs3oz on Nov 5, I would love for her to be 14 lbs on Jan 6. We'll see.
Trying to get ready for Christmas and get all the crap done around the house to list Feb 1...its a nightmare! We have an offer in on a house now and I forgot how nerve wracking it is!!!!
Hope everyone is doing well and enjoying the holiday season!!!

@Grace: the sleep monster is still rearing it's ugly head. I put him down at 7:45, and he was up at 8:15. Got him back down by 8:45, mad he was up at 11:45. And it's now 1:20 and he is still up. I can hear my husband snoring in our room and I want to smother him with the damn boppy. Naps have gotten worse too. He will only sleep on my now, if he happens to fall asleep while nursing. The second I put him down, he wakes up. I'm getting really frustrated. It doesn't help that my husband is never home because he works so much so I'm basically on my own most of the time. And I'm pretty sure S is teething so he's super fussy. Ugh...

@JamieLee: I can commiserate on the horrible sleep habits! DS is like this. He goes down okay, and he looks so peaceful and in a deep sleep, but 1.5 hours later, he's awake! WTF!! Stuff my boob in his mouth and he goes back to sleep. 1.5 hours later... you get the idea. (>_<)
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
Ladies, I think AF might be making her appearance.... I started spotting last night, and I never spot! This would explain the crazy bloating I had earlier this week and my super intense craving for chocolate chip cookies (a sure indicator pre-pregnancy AF was due next week). Should be interesting to see how my cycles are post-baby!
pomelo / 5326 posts
@JamieLee: sorry for the crappy sleep. We are struggling too. I can no longer put her down awake. It's boob or nothing. I've been holding her too just so she can get some naps in.
@Alivoo01: i kinda want AF back so I can get my cycles regulated again! I keep thinking it'll return but now that she's eating a few times a night again it might not happen for awhile.
Our 4 month appointment went very well today. She screamed for her shots of course, but settled right down after a cuddle. She's only 13,11 and I was thinking she was going to be at least 14 pounds. She's slowed down a lot but doctor wasn't concerned. The best part of today is that she has had a 2.5 hour and a 2 hour nap and I got a nap in too! She hasn't napped this well in a long time, must be the shots! Hoping for some sleep tonight too!

I wanted to join in. LO was born August 11. At his four month appointment he was fifteen pounds six ounces and twenty six inches, tall like his daddy.
LO is close to rolling, he rolled earlier this week, but it seemed more like he got mad at the floor than an intentional act. He loves to stand, and can stand holding one finger. LO sits well leaning against me, on my lap or, or holding my fingers, but does not seem interested in sitting independently.
DH SAH, which is working out well for us. I never wanted to SAH. I can really cherish the time I spend with LO in the evenings and on weekends. Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star is also a favorite here.

@delight: 13.11 is close enough to 14! haha! And yay for awesome naps. How did she sleep last night?
@mdf106: Welcome!! I'm jealous your LO is so tall already! I'm hoping DS will be too.
