@Alivoo01: AF has visited me twice so far and she came back with a VENGEANCE! lol What are you using for BC? Pull and pray over here, but it was real tempting to call and get a prescription for the pill once AF came around because I really miss those short light periods! haha
@mdf106: Welcome! Sounds like you have a nice big healthy boy over there!

@skipper2010: Um... abstinence? hahaha! Sad, but somewhat true. Otherwise, it'll be pull and pray. I've never been on BC, and don't plan on starting. DS wakes up every 1.5 hours the past heck who knows long. This momma barely has enough energy to go to work and care for DS at home afterwards, so none left to DTD. Poor hubby, but he gets uninterrupted sleep so I don't feel tooo bad for him.

@Alivoo01: LOL! Well abstinence is foolproof! Waking up every 1.5 hours???? AND working??? Oh man I bow down to you! Have you considered sleep training at all? I'm exhausted just thinking about what you're going through. Hope sleep gets better soon!

OMG girls. I'm sorry I've been so inactive here! I miss you all!! I am going to catch up soon!
@Alivoo01: lol!! I'm glad I'm. to the only one practicing abstinence.... haha poor hubby. We tried once, but it was do painful!! I'm scurred!

@mdf106: Welcome!
@MrsD: How exciting! I loved buying our house. It was so much fun to make it ours.
@Alivoo01: Boo for AF! Mine is undecided. I had light bleeding every second week for the last 6 weeks, but now it hasn't shown up again. Postpartum cycles are weird. And yeah, I agree, 1.5 hr intervals while working...you are a superstar!
How is everyone's Christmas/Holiday prep going? I have one more present to get. Oh, and I have to wrap my hubby's last present. He joked several weeks ago that for Christmas he wanted me to go through his socks and throw out all the holey ones and replace them with new ones. So I'm going to wrap up all the new socks and all the old ones. Giving him the old ones first - will have to see if he catches on!

Had to put the pic up with my phone and then wanted to type on the laptop Anyone have any cute holiday pictures? I saw one on pinterest with the baby kind of 'wrapped' in lights that was adorable that I want to do.. but I'm not sure if I can take that kind of pic with my camera.
@mdf106: welcome!
Still no sign of AF over here. Which is good because I have baby fever hahah. That and we don't use protection, not even pull and pray. My husband and I both want our kids close in age ( well the first 2 at least ) so we'd be happy if it happened again. I'd just have to go back to work early to get my next maternity leave. Sometimes I kind of want to go back to work, DH kind of has a bad attitude and thinks it's so easy to stay home with the baby. How do you make them understand it's not alll fun and games and is actually quite tiring?
@Grace: We're basically all done here, just a few things to finish with then we're all ready!
We're having a Christmas party/Husbands birthday party for our friends tonight. Tomorrow is dinner at the inlaws but I don't think B and I will go. Long story very short, DH has a step brother who is schizophrenic ( and not medicated currently ) as well as a major drug user. We have always said we don't want B around that step brother. Usually he's not at family functions however, his other step brother passed away last month while in rehab so his step dad and his mom are trying to patch things up with this other step brother. ( I know, it's a lot.) So DH and I are in the uncomfortable position of hurting feelings by keeping B away, but we have to do what we think is best and safest for her.
Then on Xmas eve, we are having all of my family and all of DH's family over to our place for appies, Xmas day is at my moms, and boxing day is at my dads. DH and I both have divorced parents so holidays are kinda crazy.

@Grace: we just barely got our tree up last weekend. Still no ornaments on it. I have most of my shopping done, but DH still needs to go out (he'll wait until the day before though).
I'm so exhausted. E now takes about three hours to get to sleep at night; I start at 8 and lucky if we're both asleep by 11. The house is a shambles; I don't have the time to do the laundry AND clean AND nurse E every other moment (I can be stuck on the sofa for an hour and a half/two hours after coming home from work) AND go food shopping. Which would be why there's no food in the house and we just ate chips and salsa for breakfast/lunch. I wanted to go out shopping today, but managed to spill an entire cup of iced coffee all over the inside of the freezer (and even on the freaking ceiling) so needless to say I missed my window of opportunity to leave. The freezer is cleaner inside though.
I can't even blame this on DH; he does laundry and the dishes, but he just don't have my priorities/ability to multitask, so what I would get done in a few hours takes him all day. He's also depressed from lack of work (his work is seasonal/dependent on the weather. Plus we knew it would take a nose dive when he started watching E during the day, but he still feels like a burden, even though I try to convince him otherwise). He barely gives me any affection any more and I'm feeling really down and ugly from it.
We also had a fun experience with his ex (his son dared to express an interest in spending Christmas eve with us instead of his mom, so now DH has "ruined her Christmas" and must have manipulated his son into wanting to spend that time with us). Blah.
On the positive side I'm taking off some time for work between Christmas and New Year's, so I should get a nice long break. Got a bonus at work. We were able to successfully take family photos with all the kids. We also got some awesome shots of E and her brother and sister with Santa. E's uglywhere chair (PB Anywhere chair slipcover with uglywhere's foam insert) came in the mail yesterday and it's so freaking adorable!
@MrsB2012: B is SO cute! What a great shot :D.
nectarine / 2466 posts
@StrawberryBee: B also takes a minimum of 3 hours to get to sleep at night as well. She's been that way for about a week now. Once she's asleep, she stays asleep, but man, is it impossible to get her to sleep. I wonder if it's the 4 month sleep regression? She'll be 5 months next week, but I'm thinking that's it. Hopefully it doesn't last long. Once Xmas is done I'm hoping to get a better routine again.
Sorry that you're feeling down with DH. You sound like you have a lot on your plate with his ex and him adjusting to his work. Hopefully with your time off during Christmas you guys can find some time to connect together.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@MrsB2012: yeah, I'm figuring this is four month sleep regression for us as well. She falls asleep, wakes up, over and over and over again. I go to take my shower and she starts shrieking :(. I actually forgot to set my alarm yesterday morning and woke up when I was supposed to be leaving for work...whoops!
Thanks for the well-wishes, I really appreciate it.

@StrawberryBee: sorry to hear you're having a rough time. I understand about the ex! As you know. I wish sometimes they would stop thinking only of themselves. The world doesn't revolve around them! We haven't ever gotten to spend Xmas morning with the boys.
she does it every year but won't even wake up early with them!
Ps. You are NOT ugly! Stop feeling that way. Things aren't perfect over here either, I think it's all part and parcel with this stage of parenthood, unfortunately. Cheer up though, it will start to get better!

@Alivoo01: oh goodness! I don't know how you function! 1.5 hours?! That's cray. Have you thought about some sort of sleep training?

@skipper2010: no bc yet. I am supposed to go have an iud put in, and was told my doc would call. Haven't heard from them for a few weeks. not that it matters anyway, we haven't DTD much since I'm terrified! Lol

@MrsB2012: Not even pull and pray?! Do you think you could be pregnant again with no signs of AF?? Are you still breastfeeding? Also, your baby is just too cute!
@Grace: Christmas gifts are all bought, now I just have to wrap! Holidays came fast this year!

@skipper2010: haha not even I took a test a few weeks ago and it was negative, so I assume not. We are EBF still
And thank you, I think she's pretty cute too haha
nectarine / 2220 posts
@Alivoo01: Glad I'm not the only one. I posted on that "What would you think if you found out you were pregnant right now" thread that I'd have to assume it was the second coming of Jesus or something... because there has been zero action here lately. DH works and I stay home, but because of that he really thinks LO is my job so evenings are pretty hellish for me since dinner/bath/bed all coincide.
@MrsB2012: Where did you find a baby sized Santa hat?? I've been looking everywhere!
@MrsB2012: And not sure about the attitude, but I'm ready to hear what others think. I'm on maternity leave for a year, subsidized all but $600/month of my usual paycheck. Having DH as my "boss" in the hardest $600 I've ever earned, and he definitely thinks I just play with the baby and nap all day. What I'd LIKE to do is totally abandon him for a day with the baby and a list of chores and see how he fares.
@StrawberryBee: I'm sorry things are rough with you and your husband. It's been taking us about three hours to do our bedtime routine (book, bath, jammies and then nurse/rock/repeat for two hours) too and it seriously makes sex the LAST thing I want to do, expecially when I know she's going to be up again in two hours and I just want to have 5 minutes to check my email and then go to sleep. Add in all the seasonal Christmas chores like baking/shopping/wrapping/cleaning for company and I'm totally beat.
As for photos, we finally put our tree up today, and I think this one is kind of cute. It's ridiculously warm in our house, and LO likes to feel everything with her feet (which I've been meaning to ask if that's normal or if my kid's a total weirdo??) so that's the reason for the lack of socks. And we did a DIY mini photo shoot for our Christmas card a few days ago and got some cute ones.

@Sapphiresun: I'm with you on the the husband thing. I wish B would take a bottle ( she will take one from our moms, but not from him ) so I could leave him. Part of me wants to go back to work early so that he'll have to take her on days I work so he can see it's really not all fun.
The santa hat is an adult had just folded in the back works for laying down pictures.

I haven't been able to weigh her again, but she's nursing a little better. I need to up my pumping sessions, they've dropped this week.
She has a new voice, which is so adorable, it sounds like he's saying huh huh huh.

@.twist.: thanks hon! *hugs* I'm just bummed that I'm pretty sure I'm heavier than when I left the hospital (too afraid to step onto the scale). I was feeling pretty good the first two months home, but I don't think the three months of maternity leave was good for me. I keep on hoping that all the BFing will have some sort of impact on my body; I have a sinking feeling I'm one of those women who actually gains weight.
DH's response to her was, "don't you think I might like to have that once, too?" He's out there right now scouring three stores trying to find a favorite Christmas movie of his son's, on the off chance that he'll come over Christmas eve.
If it makes you feel any better, DTD now feels perfectly normal to me. I know we're all different, but for what it's worth!
@Alivoo01: seriously, sleep deprivation is no joke! I don't know how you're doing it.
@Sapphiresun: I guess I can DTD at any time :). My problem is that DH seems relatively uninterested in it. It's a low blow to my self esteem when I feel like I'm begging him for it :/.
Half the time we're sockless lol. Though E has yet to find her feet. Love the photos, great job!
@StbHisMrs: love! They're too cute; I love the mary jane stockings!

Has anyone else given their LO a Sophie the Giraffe yet? E is addicted to her. When she's fussy I bring it out and squeak it in front of her and it's the *cutest* thing; her face just lights up and she gets all excited (sometimes even her hands shake) as she reaches up to grab it.
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@StrawberryBee: K chews Sophie's face (DH calls it Sophie's 'beak'), and it makes this loud rubbery squeaking sound - its hilarious. Her favourite right now is a Lamaze doll with a crinkly skirt - she just crunches the skirt in her hands.
We've tried a few times to DTD, but its still mega painful (thanks, stitches). I've had AF twice already...what the heck!
We took her to see Santa the other day, and the picture is awesome - she grinned right at the camera. I apologize in advance if it posts huge.

I'm behind again! The last week has been crazy with our sleep regression, but last night she slept fine so hopefully we are out of it and back to normal!
@redsmarties: oh she's so sweet! Glad she was a happy girl for Santa!
@StbHisMrs: your girls are beautiful!
@Sapphiresun: what great Christmas shots!
@MrsB2012: eeeek all these cute Christmas babies! So sweet!
@StrawberryBee: I have been giving L a new toy every week or so from our shower so she doesn't get everything at once. So far she just has the little teething ring Sophie but I'll bring out the new one soon. I love how she can pick up toys and "play" with them now. Everything just goes in her mouth but it's so fun to watch and play with her.
Anyone else finding the holidays super busy? Every day is jam packed and L is meeting new people every day. I find that she is a bit clingy with me and cries with new people which breaks my heart. I want all our relatives to be able to hold her without her crying. I also hate having to wake her from naps to go places, especially since we just got out of a horrible week of sleep. I'm trying to be easy going about it all, but I find I get anxious about her missing naps. Next year will be so much easier when she can be awake for more than 1.5 hours at a time without getting cranky. I sound like a Scrooge I know but it's so hard trying to time everything and put her down for naps when we aren't at home.
pineapple / 12802 posts
@StrawberryBee: yep, DH has said that to his ex too. So frustrating. I REALLY hope your step son gets to spend Xmas with you!
@delight: I HATE waking or missing nap time. It stresses me out so much. I try really hard to be chill about it, but deep down I just stress about how that will affect our night. We have had a few rough nights, blah! I'm worried about Xmas day and Boxing Day because we won't even be home and I don't know how he'll sleep in his pnp.
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
@.twist.: It wasn't so much painful as it was uncomfortable. TMI alert: I keep feeling he's hitting a "wall" inside and then I realize he's not even completely in yet! =\
We tried to sleep train once he got over his RSV, but then the following week, he caught a cold. But I'm letting him fuss it out and it's a 50/50 chance of him putting himself back to sleep. Otherwise, I have to nurse him down and cross all my fingers and toes that when I pop him off, he doesn't wake. Once he's well again, we'll attempt to sleep train again. How's your L sleeping post sleep training.
@Grace: haha! Cute Christmas present for your hubby! We delivered our last Christmas present on Friday. There's still one "in transit" from FedEx but that's a whole other story. I ordered on Dec. 4 and yea....
@MrsB2012: Adorable picture!!! *swoon* When you figure out how to make them understand the amount of work , let me know bc I could really slap some of it to my hubby. He thinks DS is so young that it's not really that hard and we play all day. Um no sir! I still need to clean the house and DS will only play by himself for so long before wanting some attention. If I'm desperate and DS is clingy, I put him in the Ergo while doing chores. Sigh.
@StrawberryBee: Yay for bonuses and time off! You deserve it momma, even though your hands will be full. There's just something about being home making things so much easier!!!
@Sapphiresun: YES!!! On leaving him with the baby and see how he fares attitude!! I went to a girl's pot luck dinner at my friend's and I was assuming that was a hint hint to the hubby to watch DS for a few hours. It's just dinner! Nope. He asks me if I packed everything for DS yet and if he needed to help put things in the car for me. *blink blink*
Love your photos!! The ornament one is precious!
@StbHisMrs: Cute picture, and their outfits are adorable!!!
@StrawberryBee: I haven't introduced DS to Sophie yet, but I should and see how he takes to her since he's teething.
@redsmarties: Boo on AF!! Mine seems to be in limbo because I was spotting for one day then the next, nada. I also had some eggwhite CM a few weeks back. So weird!
And omg!! That Santa picture is awesome!! Love that you caught her smiling!!!!
@delight: Ditto on being busy! So many family to see before we leave on vaca and all the presents to be delivered. Thankfully, DS is a trooper and doesn't mind being lugged around. He's a lil crankier and needs to nap more often since he doesn't get his 2 long naps in. Just a few more days, and the holidays will be over!
wonderful olive / 19353 posts
DS popped his first tooth this weekend. His top right lateral incisor (aka fang/vampire tooth). I had a feeling he's been teething the past 2 months because his hands are constantly in his mouth, and it wasn't until this past week he's been drooling a bit more, but not enough to soak a bib or require one. I thought I saw some white buds on the bottom last month, but they never broke through and the white cap is completely gone. Instead, this one did! According to websites, this tooth normally doesn't appear till a kid is 9-13 months!!! Say what?! DS like to keep my nip in his mouth while turning his head to look at things, stretching my nip like crazy (ouch!). Not looking forward to the pain with teeth now... Anyone have teeth yet?
Excuse the ugly scratch marks on his face. He's still an avid scratcher when he's upset or first wakes up. We've gone back to wearing gloves at night. I trim his nails frequently too, and make sure I get the sharp edges on the side. Sigh.
nectarine / 2530 posts
@redsmarties: Ha, I know exactly that sound! gummy rubber lol. E has a soft crackle book that makes that crunchy sound. She also likes to flex her fingernails against the sofa and make a scratchy sound.
K is so adorable...what a sweet smile!
@delight: Yeah, we have the fussy-in-other-people's-arms every time we go to my inlaws' house, which is every other weekend. I don't want to deny them her so I go along with it, but she gets zero naps while she's there and is typically super fussy and cries. I wish they would just visit us, but they're older/don't like to drive far, we're an hour away, and we have to go there anyway because we drop the kids off at their mom's house.
@.twist.: @Alivoo01: Thanks! I'll let you know how it goes.
@Alivoo01: ahh, so cool! and I can't believe you were able to get a picture of his mouth! E has started clamping down while nursing (still no teeth) and boy does that hurt. Especially when it's a clamp and 'ooh, what's that over there?' streeeeeetch...

@Alivoo01: he's so cute. Can't believe he's cutting teeth already!! L is a scratcher too! Haha

LO is not interested in Sophie, although he likes to chew on everything else, and likes pretty much all his other toys. Maybe I should try again.
I am nervous about starting solids. Mostly because I am not a good role model for healthy eating, and DH is even worse. Hopefully it will be incentive to cook more often and healthier food.

@Alivoo01: yea, he stares at us while we eat and kinda makes chewing or sucking motions with his lips. He tries to grab my cups and food all the time! I'm actually planning to get a sippy cup the next time I'm out (for water).
@redsmarties: yay! I think I'm starting with pears. I steamed some up and mashed them. Just waiting for DH to get home so we can do it together. I let him taste some of the he pear juice off my finger and I think he really liked it because he kinda tried to grab me for more!
blogger / honeydew / 7081 posts
@.twist.: That's so fun. Because she's *just* 4 months, we started with cereal - the doc said it would be easiest to digest, and have the most calories. But I'm so excited to start making baby food!
pineapple / 12802 posts
@redsmarties: yea, he's a little less than a week from 6 months, so I think we might skip the rice cereal. He has good weight gain so I know he's getting enough calories from my milk. I'll probably do some sort of meat next, because i have low iron and I want his to be normal (not sure if it's low).

@Alivoo01: teeth already!! that is so cool! good luck on your attempt at sleep training! its hard, but so worth it in the end!
@.twist.: good luck with the solids! for some reason I am really looking forwards to giving G solids.
You guys are hard to keep up with since I am usually always on my cell phone but I actually am on the comp tonight.
lets see, AF I swear she came to visit twice but hasn't come back since. maybe because I was such a bitch to her
as far as dtd we have been doing it. I actually really enjoyed it once and then the other day I swear I was loosing my virginity all over again. so not fun. but I am making a conscious effort for hubs sake. I just do not feel sexy at all and need to drop this weight. I started doing insanity and jogging again but I felt like my supply took a hit so stopped it immediately and haven't done anything since but eat holiday junk food which does not make me feel any smaller in time, I keep telling myself in time.
As for G he has been super busy, at his 4 month check up he is now 17 lbs! and I think 23 or 24 inches. he is sitting up on his own which is pretty cool. rolling over like crazy, which got a little frustrating because he would do it in his sleep and wake up A LOT! and he would freak me out because he will wake up on his stomach in the a.m. ( I am one of those crazy paranoid ladies when it comes to sleeping on his stomach)
he is playing with his feet and is so close to putting them in his mouth, I swear it is his tummy that is preventing that from happening. he is still inch worming but has stopped trying to get on his knees like he was doing a while ago. which I am ok with haha. His sleep has been pretty good which I am hesitant to type for fear of jinxing it but I was going out of my mind until @.twist.: gave me the courage to sleep train. it changed our life at home, leaps and bounds!!! obviously his sleep is not perfect but so much better.
He unfortunately caught HFM. which made last week a pretty crappy week. I was pretty mad because he caught it at the pediatrician. when he came in for his 4 month shots. I felt terrible because he was so uncomfortable and he had big blisters everywhere!! but he is doing better but it did put a crimp in our holiday plans, we are sticking close to home since he is now finally sleeping good again. and I still don't want to bring him around other kids in case his is still possibly contagious, because he passed hfm to hubs, who was miserable himself for a few days (this past weekend was not fun)
I also finished my first week of work which went ok, but when I was talking to hubs, we came to the conclusion that I get to go part time starting Jan6, which makes me so HAPPY!!
Thank you guys for sharing about your los and their milestones and pictures, even though I don't post much here I am always reading and commiserating and cheering you and your los on. hubs gets a kick out of it.
