@pregnantbee: @T.H.O.U.: @coopsmama: I realized this morning that I actually have bought one pair of maternity pants at pea in the pod. They are black, but kind of skinny and ankle length. I didn't think they would be good for work. But, I'm wearing them anyways. Phew. So much more comfortable. Maybe I'll take a picture later.
@Pirouette: So glad you got to see your baby today! I love that you were told the percentile of the baby. And out of the many ultrasounds I have, I, too, have never seen my baby's full face yet. Hands and feet everywhere up there! Funny kids!
@coopsmama: Funny about the computer mouse. My husband got me nike running shoes. Funny for so many reasons. Oh, our practical husbands. And that's horrible about the contractions.
I'm so sorry you are having those. I hope they don't come back today.

Hi ladies - I thought I would check in and give you a glucose screening warning...
DO NOT EAT BEFORE YOUR GLUCOSE SCREENING! Just dont do it, wait, wait, wait!
My screening test at 28 weeks was at 1:30 yesterday, I ate 2 tacos and black beans for lunch at 12:00, I got my results this morning and I failed by 6 pts (146 when normal results need to be under 140). The two ladies at the lab and my midwife were surprised that I didn't fast and risked eating so close to the test (its not a fasting test) and I guess a lot of women fast or eat a late lunch just to make sure they pass the initial screening. Now I get to to go back for the 3 hour 4 blood draw test :(. So so annoyed!

@MrsBeluga: This is why my office only screens in the early morning. That way you aren't starving forever and it gives you a more accurate reading. Sorry you have to go through the 3-hour. The worst part is that they won't let you drink anything.
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsBeluga: My OB specifically said not to fast. I ate a normal breakfast about 1.5 hours before my test, and my results came back really low (range was 65-139 and I got a 71). I am sorry that you have to go through the three hour test, but I would rather go through it and not need it, than not go through it and need it.

I feel like I've been having so many BH over the last couple weeks. Not every day, but some days it feels like a ton. Maybe more than six in an hour, I haven't been keeping close track. I don't have any pain just tightening, and I do feel him moving a lot. I've been trying to drink a ton of water. Does this sound normal?
ETA: At times I'm also not positive if something is a BH or if he's just flipping around and that's making my belly tight. Other times it's really obvious.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@MrsSCB: Sorry, but I don't know anything about braxton hicks. I hope its normal and nothing for you to be really concerned about.
Here is my baby bump at work today!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsBeluga: Oh no! My glucose screening was a fasting test, so I went first thing in the morning. I'm sorry you have to do it again Would they let you fast and do the 1-hr again?

@agold: Hi baby! You look great Are those the maternity pants? Told ya they'd be so much better!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@pregnantbee: Thank you so much! And yes, these are maternity pants. So much more comfortable. I thought I was going to return them back to the store. But I felt desperate today so I ripped off the tags and wore them. They are not a full panel, but the elastic does go all the way around. They feel fantastic.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: haha the ultrasound tech was like "he wants to make sure you throw out the pink clothes!"
@agold: stubborn babies! We were basically just there to find out the %ile and make sure he was holding on above 10th %ile. It was a quick appt compared to the anatomy. I'll have them every 4 weeks if he stays on course, and more frequently if he drops significantly like his sister. And you look great!
@MrsBeluga: mine says not to fast, but not to eat too close to the drink either, and nothing carb heavy. My test is at 9:30, and I'll have a pretty long commute so I'll probably have an omelet or something at 7ish. I'm so sorry you have to take the 3 hour
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsSCB: Yes, they're normal. BUT. Having 6 in an hour warrants a call to your OB. They'll probably tell you lay down on your left side and drink tons of water, and to call back if the BH don't let up/slow down in an hour or so. I had to go home yesterday after way too many BH and decreased baby movement (I barely felt him all day). It doesn't matter that they're not painful. They don't have to be to cause problems (like changes in your cervix, etc.).
pomelo / 5257 posts
@pwnstar: thanks, I should probably start timing them when they get frequent. I think it's improving now that I'm resting at home. Work was a little crazy today -- I was in the car for two hours traveling for a story and walking and standing around a lot. Sorry to hear you had to go home early, I hope you're feeling better!
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsSCB: I do feel better today-baby is kicking around a ton and only a few BH throughout the day. Thanks! I sometimes have a hard time figuring out when they stop--it's easier (for me) to tell when they start, so I track/time them that way. I'm glad you're feeling better. Rest up and drink plenty of water. Seriously. No dishes, laundry, or other household shenanigans!

I had my 28 week 1 hour GD test Monday and received the call today that I did not pass. I'm so upset. Being pregnant with 2 kids is already stressful and now I'm so worried about everything I'm eating. This is the first time I've ever failed this test. I take the 3 hour test first thing Friday with an 11 hour fast the night before.
Otherwise my 28 week appointment went well. I start going every other week now until 34 weeks.
Baby has been moving like crazy. Love the movements.
Heres a 28 week baby bump picture

@Aandmklover: You look amazing. I'm so sorry you didn't pass, but I hope you pass the 3-hr. Any idea how many points you were over their limit? Ugh.
kiwi / 506 posts
@pregnantbee: my dr never give out that info and I always forget to ask so I'm not sure what I was over. I'm kind of in the camp that id rather not know because if it's only a few points I might get mad. Lol
I'm trying to stick to the GD diet for the few days before my 3 hour test (I'm hoping it will give me a good baseline) and I'm already crabby. I can't imagine doing this for the last 12 weeks. The nice part is my husband is being really supportive and he said he'd do the diet with me.

@Aandmklover: I know the GD diagnosis really sucks :(. I was diagnosed at 10 weeks last time. On the plus side, I didn't gain any weight at all with that pregnancy. And with this one I've only gained 7 pounds.
There's a lot of threads on how to handle it and what to eat. I hope you end up passing the 3 hour though!

When does everyone start going to appointments every other week and every week?
I just had my 26 week apt and they said I can wait until 30 weeks to come back. I'm guessing from there I will go 32, 34, 36, 37, 38, 39
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I have one more that's 4 weeks out from my last one.....Let's see. Last one was almost at 26w. Next one is almost 30w. Then every 2w....then maybe every week after 36?
ETA: Your question helped me remember to indicate on my work schedule that I need to take an early lunch on my appointment days, so thanks!
pear / 1718 posts
@T.H.O.U.: At 30 weeks I start to have appointment with my OB every 2 weeks. I also have appointments with my Peri as well that will increase in frequency to every week (for instance I had one this morning with my Peri at 26 weeks; I had an appointment with my OB at 24 weeks and will see her again at 28 weeks, and I see my Peri and my OB again at 30 weeks and then see my Peri every week thereafter).

@Aandmklover: You look great! But I'm sorry you are having to start out on a GD diet. But kudos to your awesome husband for doing it with you. Any kind of forced diet sounds horrible. I am trying to figure out an anti-acid-reflux diet. Its horrible for me so far... taking away the joy I find in eating things I love.
@T.H.O.U.: I've been wondering the same thing about bi-monthly OB visits. I have my monthly visit tomorrow at 25ish weeks so I suppose I will ask this question.
I thought I for sure looked pregnant yesterday. But I went to a work industry event last night and so many people came up to me and offered glasses of wine. I had to say that I'm pregnant. One funny thing - I was talking to maybe a slightly younger guy and somehow bed rest came up. He asked why I had to go on bed rest. I almost said "i had tons of bleeding" but I realized who I was talking to and I just laughed and said "I was having a bit of a rough time" and left it at that. People really don't want to know the honest answers.
coconut / 8472 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I had an appt at 24w, next is at 28 and then they'll be every other week until 34. So 28, 30, 32, 34, 35, 36, 37, 38.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I don't think I go to every other week until 32. So I have my 28 week appt a week from Monday, then one more in a month.

@T.H.O.U.: But only 7 appointments left before baby is CRAZY! How is this birth month group coming up as due so quickly!??!?

Baby girl is currently having a dance party! It's so fun. Anyone else with a super active baby today?
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@agold: I'm in denial that we're all as far along as we are already. Ha! Also, though? I'm so much more uncomfortable earlier this time than I was last time that I'm actually looking forward already to not being pregnant anymore. However, I do need baby girl to bake at least another 10w or so!

I had my 28 week appointment yesterday, as well as my one hour glucose test. I passed, thank goodness. I was really nervous about it for some reason. Now I will have appointments every two weeks - can't believe we are at that point already! Where does the time go? Good luck to everyone with appointments coming up!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I last went at 24 weeks, next is 28 and then next 30. Starting July 5 I go every week.
@pregnantbee: He was moving a ton yesterday and a lot this morning, too. I jumped a couple times during a meeting this morning. Hopefully no one noticed, haha.
pear / 1718 posts
@agold: @Aandmklover: Lookin' good ladies!
@pregnantbee: Yes! At my appointment this morning, my little man kept running away from the u/s tech . . . the acrobatics were impressive! He did, however, pause for a good while to grab his junk! I have a great picture of him doing it too!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@pwnstar: You just made me laugh out loud! Keep that picture forever. He will get a good laugh out of it when he's older.
@pregnantbee: I also have an active baby today!! I love it!
@CoffeeMom: Great you passed that test. Phew. Seems like such a hassle to not pass it.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
after my next appt (28 weeks), i'll go every 2 weeks. plus every 4 weeks to the u/s center unless baby starts measuring small, at which point it'll be every 2 weeks or less. somehow, my OB and U/S appts, which used to be 2 weeks apart, have now synced up to a day apart for my 28 week appts. i kinda liked having them a little staggered because two appts in a week is a little annoying, but I guess I need to get used to it, since it's going to start feeling like I'm always at the doctor soon!
you guys are all getting close! I'm gonna be the last one standing in this group when you guys are all busy with your babies
@pregnantbee: this baby is active, but my first was insane. she did back flips allllll day every day. this baby moves a lot, but it's not as strong as my first because of the anterior placenta. so probably the same frequency but more subtle movement.
@CoffeeMom: congrats on passing! I'm super nervous for mine and it's still 3 weeks away. fasting always makes me anxious

Question for moms with one already, are you keeping your littles in daycare or pulling them out for your maternity leave?
The plan was to leave our 2.5 yr old in her half day preschool, but the closer to August we get, the more I am starting to think we just pull her out for a few months. Her center is huge so we dont have to worry about saving a spot. I hate to keep paying while on reduced maternity leave income (her half day is the same price as FT care), I hate that she will continue to bring home new illnesses (they just had a lice scare), and I really have no idea and am struggling big time with how I will get her and a newborn to/from school each day (I was a hot mess post partum last time). We would pull her out in August and consider sending her back in November.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsBeluga: We're planning to keep sending DS to full time preschool throughout my leave. That way he still has a "normal" routine and I can focus on breastfeeding and bonding with baby. May pick him up early some days so he has time to bond with baby, too. Definitely stinks to keep paying while not paid on leave, but I think it will be best for our family.
apricot / 442 posts
@pregnantbee: Thats what my husband thinks too. He thinks a 4 hour break for her and for me will do us all good. I just have no idea how I am going to manage getting out of the house each day!
nectarine / 2591 posts
@MrsBeluga: My LO only goes 2 days a week but she will continue to go. She loves it and I think it's important for her to have those interactions. Am not looking forward to drop offs though.
@T.H.O.U.: My appts go every 3 weeks from here (31 & 34) and then biweekly until 40 weeks. I am happy there's not too many because it's such an effort to drive into the hospital.
