@stratosphere: I learned last week that I passed my diabetes test, too. Thank god. I love donuts.

@Pirouette: thanks re: the dress! Its truly amazing for my pregnant belly. This is the dress: http://www.tartcollections.com/collections/long-dresses/products/grecia-maxi-in-stained-glass
Worth the price. Its not maternity and i plan to wear it forever even after the baby is born. I went with size extra small. if you are super tall, I would do the small. But like other dresses that I've bought recently, I've had to buy size large and I wear a 31 jeans because of my hips and badonkadonk. This dress is just super loose.

@agold: it's so gorgeous! sadly, though, it would definitely be too long on me - i can only wear petite size in maxi dresses. oh to be a few inches taller!

  3. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: yep, i usually need to get maxi dresses hemmed up, too. I'm 5'6". I originally bought the small and was going to need to alter it three different ways. I just randomly went back to the store and tried the xs. I mean, no way I thought xs would fit. But it did and solved all of my altering needs. Although, it is just ever so slightly too long so I need to wash it every time because I loathe a dirty hem.

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: yea, with the amount of time i spend chasing my 2.5 year old around, even a petite length is almost too long for me! i'm always terrified i'm going to trip and fall on my belly haha.

  5. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@Pirouette: Oh gees, yes. No running around in this maxi. Right before I took this picture, I had to walk down some pretty mighty stairs to get to that pool area to meet up with my husband. Him and his friends were laughing because I guess I was walking down the stairs all dramatically, holding up my dress and being careful. ETA: but it is so comfortable and feels like my favorite thing to wear at this point. i want to get more in different patterns if i can find it.

@ShootingStar: you can start getting stuff embroidered with her birthday already!! that's so exciting to know your timeline!

@stratosphere: @agold: yay, ladies! I passed too, on Friday. don't know what my number was, they said they'd only call with bad news. @pwnstar: forgot to thank you for reassuring me about this. I thought I'd have it since I have been SO FREAKING thirsty for the past few weeks, and because of my dad having the inclination, and because as previously noted I've been letting myself eat pasta again during the pregnancy

@agold: aww you look so stinkin cute! even headless, your body language looks happy

  7. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@LCTBQE: Thank you so much for saying that!! I was really happy! First weekend I was rocking out with my bump out. And hooray! You passed the diabetes test, too. Do you think we should ask for the "number"??

  8. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@stratosphere: just seeing your c-section is scheduled, too? that's great! and good lord, you had HD and GD last time? I'm so glad you're having it a little easier this time around

being pregnant even just this once is giving me some appreciation for the fact that my mom and MIL both spent like, 2.5 and 4 *years* of each of their lives (in prime years!) with their bodies rented out to preggos. guess I should have sent mother's day presents after all, whoops.

@Silva: @agold: @aandmklover: no acid reflux for me but killer heartburn, which seems to come and go a few days at a time, weirdly. tums don't do a damn thing for me, and my OB told me any over-the-counter version of Pepcid AC was fine. taking maximum strength where I really need it, and it is a godsend.

@pirouette: woof on the name reaction, I think if my parents didn't like ours or thought our name was tacky or something (not that we HAVE one, ugh) it would sting me a lil, too. but it's helping me to realize that I hate half of all names people in my life have chosen for their kids--it's the old grade school thing: you don't like everyone, so why does everyone have to like you? anyway, glad you're standing strong!

@aandmklover: that is pretty robust to not call your grandkid by their actual name?

@pwnstar: yes, I too am getting a LOT of "you'll be so hot by August" comments... yep, likely true. they're not really bothering me, it's all kind of pinging off at this point

@agold: can't believe you're only just now ordering mat jeans! but yes you look legit

and I probably will ask for it because I am a fool for data. it was right after my double m/c's and before I had the balls to join this board, but you should have seem me calculating my beta numbers and doubling time and writing it all in my planner, I was a freak.

ETA, funny ha-ha medical bill story for your day: I got a full panel of genetic testing (carrier screening on myself, not the Panorama) back in January and paid about $275 for it when the bill came in Feb. well, on Friday I came home to another bill from Sinai for fucking FIVE THOUSAND and five hundred dollars. I didn't freak out which is definitely a personal victory, and my husband who is saintly contested it online. he just got an email back complete with bad grammar congratulating us on the pregnancy (thanks) and admitting it was mis-processed. hopefully we don't have to pay it. ughh...

  10. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@LCTBQE: I honestly don't even know the different between acid reflux and heart burn. can you tell me what it is?? and yes re: the maternity jeans. I am down to one pair right now. they are just now uncomfortably tight on my belly.

  11. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@agold: I'm actually not sure myself--maybe the afflicted ladies could chime in. is heartburn just the junior version of acid reflux? I think acid reflux causes you to kind of spit up/vomit, like @silva was saying. heartburn just burns.

  12. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@LCTBQE: I always feel like I am going to throw up. And when I bend over, or lay on my side, it feels like food is going to just flow out of my mouth. But I've always resisted the throwing up. I hate the stress on my stomach and eyes when I throw up. Although, I often wonder if throwing up would make me feel better. But sometimes, what I just described is accompanied by extreme pain. So maybe I'm having both. I've figured out some foods that are causing it. (basically everything I was eating).

@LCTBQE: Haha, well she could still come early . 8/16 is the latest she'll be here though, which is kinda fun to know.

  14. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

I'm calling it acid reflux because it's this nasty acid taste/nausea/burping sensation like stomach acid and food are just sitting in the back of my throat. I made myself throw up once, and it didn't immediately help but I did feel better within the hour (I had to try something because I kept running to the bathroom thinking I was going to puke, but just burping....but I was headed into a session so I had to try pull it together). The other time I thought it was a burp, but it was much more exciting than that.
So far I've found that taking tums before eating helps, eating a very small amount, and today I tried my old trusty ginger tablets which seemed to st least keep it to a mild level.

Passed my glucose screen! Yahoo! (Good thing since I've been living off pasta for the last few days). But my h&h levels, iron, were low. I already eat spinach like Popeye, and eat lentils at least 2-3x a week. So I'm going to have to add in another supplement. Anyone else dealing with anemia?

  16. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@OldpuebloJenn: Congrats on passing! Bummer about the anemia, especially since it seems like you are doing a great job eating already.

@Silva: Its so awful. You described how I feel generally. I've also read to not drink water while eating. Umm... I always drink water after every bite usually. Such a sucky thing to deal with.

So I bought maternity jeans last night finally. They are the exact jeans I normally wear, but in maternity and actually one size smaller. I'm wondering if I should have even actually gotten an additional size smaller. And now, when I'm sitting down, there's so much material bunching up. Is this normal for maternity jeans. So far, although comfortable, I hate them. Hate hate hate them.

@OldpuebloJenn: Yes, I started on a supplement and should find out next week if its helping. Last time I had to double the supplement (and holy constipation).

Congrats to all who have passed the glucose test! Bring on the donuts!

SO. Suddenly people really can't keep their mouths shut over my size. Oh, you must be due really soon! WOW. You still have 2 months left??

YES, thank you. Would you like me to comment on your body, too?

@pregnantbee: I'm so sorry. People are doing it to me too and I'm about eight-ten weeks behind you. People are idiots. You look beautiful.

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@avivoca: Thank you. I love how you pop in here sometimes It's just getting so old. I get it. I'm huge. I know this.

  21. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@pregnantbee: Yes, I'm getting a lot of WOW comments. I had to listen to it from future SIL all weekend about how small her sister was when she delivered and never "popped". I also had to explain that there is a big difference in a 7 lb baby and a 9 lb baby plus differences in water weight.

  22. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Eye. Roll. Every pregnancy is different. I understand that I'm larger now than I was when I delivered my son. I'm actually getting an u/s tomorrow to check on size -- like that's accurate </sarcasm> We'll see. All I know is that baby girl is growing and moving and doing what she's supposed to be doing.

  23. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

@agold: Where are they bunching up? I find that maternity jeans in the right size are generally pretty comfortable. They should fit from the hips down just like your regular jeans. If you have too much material, maybe they're too big?

@pregnantbee: I don't know why anyone thinks it's ok to comment on someone else's body, especially a pregnant woman's.

  24. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@ShootingStar: They are bunch up in the lower stomach/zipper area, so right below where the pregnant belly part of the jeans start. And i feel like they are sliding down. So maybe I need a smaller size, which will be the first time I've ever actually said that. I'm so hippy and was really worried that any maternity jeans would even fit me. I pray that Pea in the Pod will let me exchange these!!!!!

    @pregnantbee: I had a donut this morning!!!!

As for unwarranted comments... I was just walking back from picking up lunch. I had pesto pasta in my hand. The too-friendly door lady looked at me, pointed at my lunch, and said "Really??" Umm... "Ha, yes, really!" WTF is wrong with pesto pasta????

@avivoca: I love seeing you pop in here too!!

@T.H.O.U.: Its so dumb for people to boast about being small while pregnant. Being small can be indicative of a problem with the baby. So so lame.

  25. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@pregnantbee: Yea, I just know Ive had two very accurate third tri measurement scans and two very large babies. So of course I carried big. And I'm carrying big again, and I'm assuming I will have another growth scan ahead of the curve and will deliver another large baby. Got it, thanks.

@pregnantbee: Argh the comments annoy me to no end. Their eyes go so wide and they can't help but get that look on their face. I want to go hulk on them. I am not even measuring big!

Does anyone have a baby registry for their baby shower, and stalk it regularly? I don't know why... but I keep going back to look at it!!

@OldpuebloJenn: Hi there--I am dealing with anemia, too--taking 324mg of ferrous gluconate in the mornings and doing my best to get in iron rich foods alongside vitamin c which is supposed to be helpful. The iron pills are pretty tough on my stomach (they absorb best on an empty stomach, so I'm trying to take them first thing) but it's gradually getting easier. And I'm feeling like I have more energy/less shortness of breath--are you feeling low energy or doing ok? The iron has been a bit of a pain but I can tell it's been helpful to me. Good luck!

  29. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@OldpuebloJenn: I just thought of something regarding iron. I am generally someone who is low on iron. I don't maintain a super balanced diet so this never surprises me. Anyhow, I realized that there are two different versions of my prenatal vitamin and one has way more iron in it. I switched to that one. Its the Rainbow Lite complete prenatal. Something like that, with the word "complete" in it. Tons more iron than the other Rainbow Lite prenatal. Just a thought for you since you mentioned taking a supplement.

@pregnantbee: ughhh I hate people. Commenting on a woman's body is never appropriate! Cmon people! Good luck tomorrow... I know you will just confirm that baby girl is doing exactly what she should be doing

@agold: I looove pesto pasta! As someone who carried very small with my first pregnancy, I can tell you it doesn't feel good either way. I took it so personally anytime anyone commented that i was tiny. You simply can't win when you comment on someone's body, so don't do it! And I was totally a registry stalker with my first, but i'm not having a shower this time. I miss that! It was so exciting!

  31. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@pregnantbee: not to overreact, but FUCK 'EM. you look great. headless, but great I was rolling with it for a while but am also starting to get a lot of comments on the size of my bump, how low I'm carrying, etc, et-fucking-cetera, then they move on to how huge and hot and swollen I'll be come August. I keep looking at them totally straight-faced and repeating to everyone that I'm just grateful to be able to have a child at all, and it's 100% effective at ending the peanut gallery bullshit. at the same time, the majority of people are really gracious and sweet. it's just the bad apples that are so annoying.

@agold: sucks about the size, they're expensive! I got paige mat jeans (like, not on sale) and they were great for maybe 3 wears, then they started kind of stretching out on me. I also only got 1 size smaller than my usual size, and I never wear them anymore because it's so annoying to constantly be yanking them up. I think I remember @Silva: saying the same thing about hers. and to both of you ladies, ugh I'm so sorry about the reflux, that sounds so uncomfortable. I'm finding too that I get full *super* quickly and that very very small meals are more effective at preventing heartburn than what kind of food I'm eating. sounds like you already are doing that, though hope it gets a little more manageable.

  32. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@agold: thanks for the tip about the prenatal! I take rainbow lite but just ran out; when I get more I'll get that one

also I'm sure no one needs it, but PSA about the supplements--for the first few months of my pregnancy I was taking one DHA pill (I'm on nordic naturals). the fucking "serving size" is two pills. did not actually read the label and figure that out until around week 16. whoops.

  33. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@T.H.O.U.: and @ everyone else--are all of you ladies getting a 32-week growth scan? I'm 28w tomorrow and my OB didn't mention it to me yet, but @Pirouette: the technician at Carnegie did when I was there for the 20-week anatomy. is it a standard thing?

  34. AprilFool

    nectarine / 2591 posts

@LCTBQE: I have a 34 week growth scan but the only reason it was offered to me is because of my pre-pregnancy BMI.

  35. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@LCTBQE: I love your sense of humor! I actually have a growth scan tomorrow since my OB said my fundal measurement 2 weeks ago put me kinda far ahead. We'll see how that goes. I'm almost 32w.

  36. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@LCTBQE: yes because of my LGA baby and fundal height I'll prob get a third tri scan.

  37. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@LCTBQE: my ob does one scan at 36 weeks as a "growth and position check." Or they do one sooner if they suspect breech, or if fundal height or weight isn't progressing normally I guess.

  38. ShootingStar

    coconut / 8472 posts

Because I'm diabetic I just did a growth scan at 28 weeks, and I'll do them at 32 and 36. I'm about to start feeling like I LIVE at the hospital. Appointments every 2 weeks now, then at 34w we'll start non stress tests 2x/week. Pregnancy is like a marathon that starts going straight up hill at the end .

  39. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@LCTBQE: carnegie recommends a 32 week growth scan but I'm not sure if everyone does it. So it might be up to your ob. Are you going every 2 weeks now? You can raise it with your ob and see what she says. Im going for a 28 week scan on tues, but that's only because of my prior history. They want me coming in every 4 weeks as long as everything looks normal, and every 2 if he falls behind.

meanwhile i had a dream i had triplets - totally out of nowhere! And i was like what's all this extra monitoring for if they cant even detect 2 more babies?! Lol.

@pregnantbee: hope everything goes well today!

  40. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@ShootingStar: yea this was me in the 3rd tri last time too. It makes me full of dread for the rest of pregnancy this time. But at least we are less nervous this time after seeing lo turn out great - last time it felt like every second i wasnt at an appt, i was researching probability of developmental issues and head size the 3rd tri was so so stressful last time. I hope everything goes smoothly for you
