@pregnantbee: Yep! There were a ton of measurements and calculations made before those suckers were installed (none by me of course! )
pear / 1718 posts
@pregnantbee: Speaking of math . . . DH audibly sighed when I told him I ordered a diptych painting to go over LO's bed, and that they didn't have the wire string installed to hang them with. The two paintings had the flat tooth-like hangers installed . . . so he had to calculate just where to put the 4 nails to get everything to line up correctly (and to make sure the gap between the two was what I wanted). Oopsies!

@pwnstar: Hahaha! We have the same problem over here...especially when hanging a gallery wall where all frames don't have the same hardware or the spacing isn't the same from the top of the frame to the hanger. Ugh.

@pregnantbee: You look great! I'm loving dresses these days, so much more comfy than pants.
@pwnstar: too funny about the painting, I'm sure he was thrilled to get those up. I actually like to just leave the room when my husband is hanging pictures, because his detailed process annoys me too much, haha. He's getting out the level, drawing lines in pencil to make sure stuff is lined up, etc. I'm more of the "hammer in some nails, see if it looks good, and if not just make more holes. They'll be covered up by the picture anyway" type
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@MrsSCB: Thank you! And HAHAHAHA. I'm kinda the same way with test and see? And extra holes? Whatever.
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsSCB: YASSSS! Hubs is the same way . . . we actually used a level, did multiple measurements (with both an absurdly long metal measuring stick and a retractable measuring tape (lol!)), have drawings for each picture, etc. The damn thing looks like a Da Vinci invention.
He was super thrilled with me . . . I also ordered four letters (they spell "love") to hang vertically between two door frames in LO's room . . . lots of measuring to get the spacing between the letters even (because of course the letters weren't an easy even measurement) and to get the letters to start/stop where I wanted them to. Eta: He may or may not have gotten laid twice that weekend!

We are just doing black out Roman shades in The baby's room. I'll prob hang them after the baby comes because my husband isn't too handy. Plays drums like a rockstar but not so great at hanging thing. Lol
I liked my combo today so I took some 30w5d photos. And I lost 5lbs after finding out I had Gestational Diabetes because I stopped eating most carbs. (Man I miss my muffins and bagels )

@Aandmklover: What a beautiful color on you. Adorable bump! And, wow. Did you just start the GD diet last week? 5 lbs??

@pregnantbee: yea My dr didn't seem surprised. She said it happens often with GD and the diet changes.

@Aandmklover: Lookin good--love your outfit! 5 pounds is amazing (I could lose 5 pounds and still totally be in the healthy weight gain range). And plays drums like a rock star? *swoon*

@pwnstar: lol yea. He's been playing since he was 5. He has a real job now but hes a studio drummer on the side.

just checking in...how was everyone's long weekend?
we had a nice family weekend, it was actually tough to leave LO this morning!! LO shared our chosen name with the grandparents, and they were kinda meh about it, so that's cool I thought my parents would be excited, but it'll grow on them I'm sure. we aren't sharing with anyone else until baby comes. we like it, so that's all that matters

@T.H.O.U.: whoa, is 27 weeks 3rd tri??? I thought it was 28!! holy crap, we're gonna be starting baby watch soon for some of you ladies!!!

I've developed a lovely new symptom in the third trimester: terrible acid reflux. I've thrown up twice in the past week after lunch because of it. I'm trying to remember to take tumsbefore lunch, which seems to be the toughest meal for me. It's so strange- salad at lunch has made me throw up twice, but last night I had super spicy shrimp tacos with creamy Cole slaw and pineapple and had no issues.
I did get some this morning after oatmeal. Seems to be an early in the day kind of thing?
Also, TMI but I've had diarrhea for a week. Not every day but all myBMs are either loose or totally liquid. I haven't called my doc because I know the concern is just staying hydrated in the heat, but it's super annoying.
kiwi / 595 posts
@Silva: I'm right there with you on the poop situation. I can't find a happy medium between being constipated or having diarrhea. Pregnancy hormones can suck it. I've been trying to just increase water, eat my fiber and hope for the best.
Sorry you've been throwing up too, how awful.
@Pirouette: sorry your parents were meh, hopefully when baby is here, they'll accept it enthusiastically!
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@OldpuebloJenn: ugh. The worst was last week when 10 minutes into my hour commute I was like....uh oh. It was a tough drive.
kiwi / 506 posts
@Pirouette: bummer they seemed Meh. But it's your child and you get to name it. Lol they did that already. My SIL's mom still doesn't call my niece by her first name because she never liked it. 🙄
@Silva: I've been on Zantac since about 20 weeks. The heartburn/acid reflux is real. I can tell at about 11 hours when I need to take my next pill it's crazy. Lol Have you tried upping your "binding" foods like cheese or bananas? I hope you feel better.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@Aandmklover: I feel like I live on cheese already! But I was thinking about adding bananas in more consistently. Maybe it will help

I scheduled my c-section today! Baby will officially be here 11w from today (8/16) or earlier.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@OldpuebloJenn: thanks...i think they will! my dad tried to soften it the next time i saw him "I like the name...yea...it's a good name...not like some of the things you could have picked" - um, thanks for the ringing endorsement they don't hate it, they just were like "oh."
@Aandmklover: what?! that's so rude! I can't imagine they'd ever not honor my chosen name. The funny thing is i thought they'd love it, because it's actually very similar to my brother's middle name, and similar to what was supposed to be my middle name, but was changed at the last minute. So obviously they liked it at some point? who knows. we're absolutely not changing it or anything, i just thought it was funny they didn't try to sound enthusiastic about it or anything.
@ShootingStar: ahhhh so exciting!!!! congrats on having a birthday for her!
pear / 1718 posts
@Silva: @OldpuebloJenn: Add me to the list. I oscillate between constipation/loose stool . . . and I keep my water/diet pretty darn consistent. It's so frustrating, especially because it's so unpredictable. I am just trying to focus on the fact that we are on the downhill side now . . . and getting closer every day!
@Silva: *augh* Talk about the worst.commute.ever! I'm so sorry you had to deal with that. And I feel you on the heartburn too. It had gotten better during the second tri, and now I find it popping up after lunch (whereas before it was definitely an after dinner event).
@Pirouette: My family has been pretty quiet on the name front . . . my ILs did great the first time around (my family not so much!), but this time, we haven't really gotten any feedback from them. Although I should say I don't care what they think, but at the same time, a little niceness for the sake of niceness would be appreciated.
@pregnantbee: Kegels? Imma hope that that was just a mispronunciation of *bagel.* Because. DAFUQ. So (so!) inappropriate. GTFO of my vagina! Worry 'bout 'choself! [and I am totally picturing a drive-by bagel-ing . . . it seems only fair]
The most consistent comment lately has been about how hot it will be when I am due (and that I have a couple more months to go in the heat. thank you captain obvious!). Uh, yeah, it's not like I would otherwise feel un-pregnant if it were any other time of the year. Or like I am going to feel 10 degrees cooler the second my baby is born. [insert so many eye rolls here]
@ShootingStar: It must feel so great to have an actual for-real end date! Congrats!

@T.H.O.U.: Thanks for posting this list! I sort of forgot how many weeks I was and was hoping you would post this today!
@Pirouette: Oh my gosh!! Staring a baby watch already! I can't believe we are getting close to that!!!
@Silva: Ugh, hello. Fellow acid reflux sufferer over here! Its been killing me!! I never have had it before and thought recently I was having a heart attack while driving home. I had to pull over. Crazy you threw up. Did you make yourself throw up? I always feel like if I bend over, I will for sure throw up. But I've been trying not to throw up. Does it make you feel better after you do?

@ShootingStar: Congrats on having a date!!
@pwnstar: You always make me laugh!!
Husband and I took a four-day weekend. It was perfect. We went to the desert. We usually go deeper in the summer, but didn't want to cook the baby. The weather was perfect!
Here's my headless picture to show off my growing baby bump. I think today I will be ordering some maternity jeans because this bump is now legit.

@ShootingStar: That's my scheduled C-section date too! It's a lovely date. I'll be 39+4 so baby could definitely choose to make an earlier entrance, but isn't it nice to know the last date at which you'll meet?

@Silva: Ugh! I feel you on the reflux! Right as my morning sickness subsided (around 20 weeks?) I started vomiting about once a week from reflux. Can't win! Last time the reflux started around 33 weeks and I only ever vomited from it once...no such luck this time. I've managed about 10 days now since vomiting, but am feeling especially rotten today (and I haven't even had lunch yet!!). I have so far just been using Tums. Have you tried Zantac yet? My doc was encouraging me to give it a try but I haven't for some reason.

So excited for @stratosphere: and @ShootingStar:
I'm excited to meet with my OB next week and really plan out the next 10 weeks! I'm thinking I'll have another growth scan at some point here soon (maybe 34w?) and then we can see.

@Pirouette: Sorry about the name reaction. That happened to me last time with my best friend (though not until we actually chose the name 4 days after LO was born!). We have very different taste in names, as similar as we are, and she really disliked my LO's name. She was diplomatic about it, but definitely made it clear how she felt. Weirdly, I didn't really care, because my DH and I like the name so much. But it made me so glad we hadn't shared our name ideas with anyone before choosing!
This time I think we have actually picked out a name already, and I did share it with my mom (who loved it thankfully!) but not sharing it with anyone else. Too personal a decision and honestly there's nothing anyone could tell me (I have researched names TO DEATH) that could sway DH and I from our choice.

Big news here: Got my 2-hour GD glucose tolerance test results today and I PASSED!!!!! I can't express how happy and relieved I am!
I had GD last time (along with hyperemesis until the end! it's a wonder I decided to get pregnant again honestly...) and just assumed I would have it again this time, given how much more weight I'm gaining this pregnancy, especially.
I am SO HAPPY this pregnancy has been so much easier than my first - no hyperemesis and now no GD! Thank you baby boy!!! Your sister was born grounded but you're getting gold stars for good intrauterine behavior.
The downsides with this pregnancy have been MUCH more weight gain (I'm guessing I won't avoid stretch marks this time!) and heartburn plus acid reflux. But honestly, I'll take those ANY DAY over either HG or GD, let alone both!
My heart is with you ladies who have GD this time. I know what a pain it is - but the upside is it makes for a very healthily nourished baby due to the micro-focus on nutrition! I am happy to be here as a statistic of encouragement that you won't necessarily have it in a subsequent pregnancy, too.

@ShootingStar: @stratosphere: Aaaaaah, you have a birthday picked out if baby doesn't want to come sooner! That's so so exciting!
I am only on my phone at the moment or I'd reply to all now. Everyone is so chatty this morning after being relatively quiet this weekend. Hope that means you had a wonderful weekend!
@pwnstar: I totally wish I could "drive-by bagel" that person. Just one in a long list of inappropriate things people have said to me while I'm pregnant.
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pwnstar: eye-rolling right along with you. babies are born all year round, and everyone i know complains about heat in summer, so it's not like it's THAT much worse for a pregnant woman...we all suffer! although this one might strike a chord with me because if i'm being honest, I'm a little nervous about swelling and being really uncomfortable towards the end...being due at the very end of august doesn't help, i have to get through every damn day of this summer with a huge belly
@agold: adorable! also, love your dress! sounds like a great weekend.
@stratosphere: congrats on scheduling and on passing the glucose test! i have mine on monday and i'm so scared. i've gained much more than with my first, so i'm happy to hear that didn't make a difference for you and re the name, i do have friends that I'm sure would never use the names we like (we like very traditional names), but i feel like my parents are traditional as well, so i was a little surprised. but not even a little upset about it, because I'm sure they'll love it when he's born and there's a personality attached to it. and it'll grow on them. I'm guessing my mom had a few names in her mind that she loved and was hoping I'd pick, because I know they talked about it a lot before we picked a name. so she probably fell in love with a name and has to get used to the fact that it's not her grandson's name haha.
