@dcw6411: so so happy you got in some DH time this weekend! just what the doctor ordered! you can do this, only a few more days till Friday and then he's home again!
@HLK208: i know, i wish it was THIS weekend!
@agold: I know exactly what you mean. It's funny, because at this point with my 1st, I'd already had an ultrasound and seen the HB, so i was thinking how much less nervous I'd be if that was the case. and then i remembered how i was measuring a few days behind at that appt and was so freaked out for 2 more weeks until my follow up (by which, as i've told you, I'd more than caught up). So i'm calming myself for the wait between appts by reminding myself that it just wouldn't make much of a difference, and could make me even more nervous!
I'm booking DH a deep tissue massage, but since I can't have one (I'll only be 9 weeks), I'm a little torn for myself. I was originally thinking facial, but now I'm thinking one of those really super luxurious pedicures (which i've never had in my life) might be even better! the idea of a facial if i have any morning sickness at that time sounds kinda suffocating

@agold: Yes they definitely did get lifted. How are you feeling? I feel ya on the random twinges and pain! My left hip is driving me bonkers. My stomach popped a bit too so I'm finding positions a bit more uncomfortable. I have a follow up with my OB on the 21st and then my NT scan on the 25th. I am pretty sure he will check on the bleed size and baby on the 21st too. You have an appointment Wednesday right? Ultrasound?

@Pirouette: Thank you for the encouragement! I am counting down the days already. It is funny, I am normally miss independent, but not with this.
Do you know at what week can we get massages? That sounds awesome!

@agold: @dcw6411: Thanks guys! I'm super anxious for 3:00. We used the home doppler last night, and the heartbeat got up to 160!
On a side note, do I need to start peeing in a cup at this appointment? I can't remember if it started right away last time. It's kind of confusing at my OBs office because you can just walk through the door to where the exam rooms are and pee in a cup before you get called for your appointment.

@MrsSCB: I hear you on the emotions! I cry about the craziest stuff. And I start crying every.single.time I am laughing about something. It's absurd! A friend was over Friday night and we were having some good laughs and I kept tearing up and was horrified. (She doesn't know about the pregnancy yet. Eek.)
@dcw6411: Hooray for for such a great husband. Seriously - I can imagine how much that lifted your spirits. What a blessing. Hope the bleeding stops soon. I had bleeding with my last pregnancy from weeks 11-14 and it was so scary and emotionally draining day after day.
@Pirouette: Oh my gosh. I NEED a spa day so I am beyond jealous but also thrilled for you. Some pampering is always well deserved during pregnancy.

@ShootingStar: At my office they seem to have you pee in a cup at every appointment, even from the get go. I'd imagine they'd have you at this one, but it may differ from office to office? (Although I was with a different midwife for my first and she requested we do it at every appointment, too, so I imagine it's standard?)
pomelo / 5257 posts
@ShootingStar: I've had to pee in a cup at both appointments, so I would guess probably yes. The first time I didn't know and went right before. I gave them an embarrassingly tiny amount in the cup, lol. Good luck today, can't wait to hear how it goes!

Anyone going on a babymoon? We went on one last time and it was such a good time of recharging and rekindling my relationship with DH. We went to Puerto Vallarta for about a week.
This time our extras budget is not in the same place due to some necessary expenses around the house this spring and some medical bills in the last year (DD needed stitches on her face and a cosmetic surgeon was called in, etc. etc.) so we're not able to swing anything like that and I must admit I'm super bummed. Even a weekend away somewhere close by would be nice but DH says he thinks he should put every dime towards those bills.
That said, we have a $150 gift card to a really nice hotel around here (will only cover half of the cost for one night) that is in an area with lots to do, a spa, and I have the ability to work PT from home whenever I want and I'm really thinking about putting in some extra hours during the day this month and trying to get together another $500 so that we can stay a night and go out to a nice dinner, a movie, brunch the next day, and maybe hit up the spa or something else the next day before getting our kids. It would be an extravagant 24 hours (for us) but I think it would be super refreshing and fun.
I just need to decide if DH would be upset if I used that extra money for something like that instead of putting it towards the bills.

@HLK208: well good! You needed to add yours! How is your cute baby bump doing?
@Pirouette: Can you get a 30 minute foot massage? What about a neck massage? That is what I was going to do over NYE before I started having all the bleeding issues. And yes, calming myself between appointments has been key. And I love all the info you and the other girls have given me. It reminds me that I'm not the first pregnant person to have ever existed, and what I"m going through has likely been experienced and a non-issue to millions of other girls.
@dcw6411: I'm so sorry you are uncomfortable! But how fun that the bump popped out! All you girls with your multiple babies are so inspiring! Your appointments should come up quick. That's great you have two scheduled! And yes, I have one on Wednesday. I will go weekly until 12 weeks with my RE. I also have an intake type appointment at my regular OB on the first Monday of February. No clue what will happen at that one, but I unfortunately scheduled it at a time that my husband can't come. I figured that is okay since he has been coming, and will keep coming, to each of these Wednesday morning ultrasounds.
@ShootingStar: I think that a heartbeat like that sounds amazing!!! Your appointment should be great! It seems like they should tell you if you need to pee at the appointment because I would otherwise go in the office lobby before I even checked in at the appointment!

@coopsmama: funny! I was JUST looking up places to go with DH. I so hope we can take one. Looking at Cabo right now but I don't know if we can swing it.
Oh man, I'm sorry about bills holding you back from a baby moon but that time away with your DH locally would even be nice!

@HLK208: I just don't know if to decide to book a special night without his permission haha....because he is SO practical. I figure it it's extra money he didn't know was coming in combined with the gift card he can't get too mad, right? We'll see what I decide.
Hope you guys can make it work! 3 kids deep and a fourth on the way - you guys deserve it!

@agold: oh just deflated in the morning and huge at night still, lol! How are YOU doing? I keep thinking of all the ladies on bedrest. Sending positive thoughts and prayers still!

@dcw6411: 2nd tri I think? I remember getting a prenatal massage in the late 2nd tri with my first. The spa website specifically says they won't do massages on pregnant women in their first tri, but they have a prenatal massage for 2nd and 3rd.
@ShootingStar: I had to pee in a cup every single time during pregnancy, no matter what. not sure if every office is the same. good luck today!!!
@coopsmama: I think every pregnant woman needs to be pampered! Puerto Vallarta sounds amazing! I would love to do a baby moon, but i have a feeling this little spa weekend is the only thing in the cards for us this year. I think your idea sounds great! if you have the gift card covering some of it, maybe he'd be on board.
@agold: I don't see any specific massages on their menu, but it wouldn't hurt to ask! the description for the pedicure includes a warm stone foot massage though, which is what drew me to it! so hopefully that's more than a 20 second foot rub that you'd get at a normal pedi

@HLK208: I love Cabo! hope you can make that work (and do it when I'm not so pregnant that I can't still squeeze myself in your suitcase)

@coopsmama: that's tough! I'm always in the open communication camp but I know it's hard!
We had a really, really bad honeymoon and we always talked about having a "redo" for our 5th anniversary (which is this June). But asking my family to watch the kids for a vacation and while we're at the hospital is a lot!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@HLK208: Oh, open communication with a practical husband does not work. Ever. I wouldn't have clothes to wear. It's that bad!! When we got married he refused to even stay at a hotel for one night because he'd rather save the money - so we spent our time at home on Sunday and he went right back to work. No honeymoon. Nothing special. The only reason we went to PV while pregnant with M is because I was gifted some money from a deceased grandparent and my parents encouraged us to get away since we'd never been away before. Basically any non-practical suggestion requires me to just push him into it or plan it myself. (This is why I still don't have a wedding band. He thinks one ring is enough and refused to buy me one before we got married. Eventually I know I will be ordering myself one!
) And despite all that - I love him dearly and he is the best match for me. He is truly one of a kind though!
Babysitting for just a dinner out even is so stressful so I feel you on that being tough to find for a trip. Still, it would be such a special time for you guys. I hope you can find a way to get away.

@HLK208: our 5 year anni is this October! I had been hoping to do a big trip, but the timing won't be right for us with a (hopefully) 2+ month old. But, instead of a honeymoon, we did a big 1 year anniversary trip, so I'm thinking we'll do a 5 year anniversary of the honeymoon trip instead (a 6 year anni trip basically).

Another ultrasound at 9w4d. Starting to feel a little better these past couple of days, and the scan went well. It waved a little, which was cute.
Still trying to sort out my options re: genetic screening with insurance.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@coopsmama: I think its great when at least one spouse is very practical. And you manage to get clothes and even contemplate a great getaway so its seems like you manage fine with your perfect match!
I'm hoping to take a babymoon if I ever get off bed rest. I have wild hopes for an overseas, two week trip. But I'd be happy with anything. And for girls that work, how can we possibly tell our bosses we are pregnant, need time off for bed rest, need maternity leave, and oh, also time off for a babymoon? Oy vey.

@Silva: That's an amazing picture! Good job, lady, on growing that baby!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: It's definitely good when spouses can help balance each other out. That's one of the many benefits to marriage I think - just the growth that comes from living so intimately with someone so different from you.
Well, since we're talking wild hopes - where would you go on this overseas extravaganza? I vote you go and take a lot of pictures for all of us to see. If there is one thing I would have liked to do before kids it would have been to travel more!

Ummmm...where did this come from? I was not showing like this until about 24 weeks with my first! I'm 11 weeks tomorrow!

@coopsmama: I'm so glad you got to go on the PV trip then!! DH is half practical, half super unrealistic...and usually only unrealistic when it comes to things we don't equally want
But then again, his good qualities outweigh the bad
@Pirouette: oh, that would be perfect!!

@agold: @HLK208: Thanks!! Maybe an at home doppler is a good idea. I think I'll feel better once I'm a little further along.. it's just the 6-8w danger zone that's scary!
@Silva: Lovely!!!
@coopsmama: We'd love to go on a babymoon, we just don't know what to do about childcare for LO. Ideally we'd go in April or May, but my parents can't fly up then because they have their own vacation (and my dad can't take another week off work), so I don't know how we'd do it:(

@coopsmama: Balancing each other out is such a great thing in a marriage. As for my wild dream, I'd love to go to New Zealand! I like to do active things, so I don't know if going while pregnant is the best idea. I'm trying to think that my fun life won't be ruined one I have a baby and that such a trip will still be possible even if I don't make it before the baby comes.
@CoffeeMom: Woo hoo! You definitely have a bump!
@HLK208: It's so great that all of us August mamas seem to have great husbands!
@JoJoGirl: Yes, the 6-8 week is a scary zone! I took one of those stupid weeks estimating pregnancy tests last night. Thank God it said 3+ weeks (the max it can go) or else I would have had a melt down.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: Oh my goodness. My parents just went to New Zealand for 2 weeks last March and loved it! That's definitely worth adding to your travel list. The pictures were so stunning and they just loved the people. My parents are actually in Belize now, coming home tomorrow after a two week stint (more mission's based for this trip) now. They've seen some beautiful places in the past year.
@JoJoGirl: Ugh! Wish you had another childcare option or that you can figure it out somehow!
So I'm sitting here drinking another Coke. In my defense I've only been drinking the 7.5oz cans and only one every few days but they seriously are the only thing able to help me out of a vomiting funk.

@Silva: hi cutie!!!!
@CoffeeMom: you look great!
@agold: new zealand would be amazing! Having a baby doesnt have to kill the fun unless you want it to! As long as you wait until you are ready to leave the bany, theres no reason travel cant be just as fun Im dying to go back to europe. Hoping for our belated 5th anniversary

Does anyone else have back pain? I ask this like I've never been pregnant before, haha but each pregnancy has been a little different!
I really don't have any symptoms but my back aches more often. My couch kills me so much that we just bought a new one I can't deal!! I think I'm going to find a chiropractor too!

@coopsmama: We do plan on going on a babymoon. Probably just a long weekend, because it would have to be in the next few months and we also have two trips planned to visit family. My husband basically can't go out of town from mid-April through July because of work, so I feel like with the baby coming in August we have to pack all travel in to just a few months
@Silva: Yay for a good US, hi baby! And insurance issues are so frustrating. I'd really like to do the more advanced genetic testing, but our insurance won't cover that. So we'll probably end up doing the NT scan first, and if anything is abnormal insurance then WILL cover the blood test. I'd rather just go straight to the blood test (Counsyl) but at $350 OOP...it's a bit painful.
@CoffeeMom: aww, you look great!

@dcw6411: my DH left yesterday and I cried so much, so hard, so loudly at the airport he was telling strangers "she's pregnant" to explain my reactions. My DD was like "bye dad!" And I could barely walk to the car! so I feel you! I didn't expect to cry!
@coffeemom- adorable bump!
@silva: cute u/s pic!

@coopsmama: we are planning a baby moon- but it'll probably be with our DD in tow. We've never left her, and my parents aren't really available till late spring, and I don't want to leave her with my in-laws.
We are thinking of going to Coronado Island- I want some place with sand and water and lounge chairs!

@coopsmama: no baby moon here. Between work and school I will be lucky to have DH for a few days after the baby comes.

@OldpuebloJenn: aw, I'm sorry!! I would cry if DH had to leave right now too!!
