@MrsRcCar: I'm so relieved to hear your husband will be with you. I'm so sorry you are going through this.

@HLK208: Thank you so much. It is such a relief. Now if I can just stop worrying about everything else. I have this odd obsession with neural tube defects that I can't shake.

@MrsSCB: Just saw this. That's crazy! Do you have a second choice? How long do you plan to take off after LO arrives?
apricot / 382 posts
@MrsSCB: Wow that is a crazy long wait list! I have never heard of one that long. Maybe some other people on the list will pass up their spot because they don't have a kid yet? Just a thought, since it appears people put their names on the list before their children are born. Fingers crossed.

@agold: Yay for a good ultrasound!!! Hang in there on bed rest. I'm still hanging with ya.

@pregnantbee: @dcw6411: I thought it was crazy, too! Glad it's not the norm. I think I'll visit tomorrow and put our name down, but we'll definitely have to find an alternative, at least for a little while. I plan to take 12 weeks off so this won't cut it! It's pretty ideal in terms of location and price, and it has a good reputation. If we get in after LO has started daycare elsewhere, it may still be worth switching.

@MrsSCB: That shit is ! Definitely put your name on the list. A lot can change in that timeframe . . . You never know. But. FFS.

@pwnstar: seriously, when she says 18 months I was like, "I'm sorry, what?!" Craziness!!

@pregnantbee: i dont know if im gonna totally blame you, but i had a long, torturous dream last night about not being able to find a bathroom last night! I was in a 6 bathroom mansion and couldnt use any of them!!! I eventually woke up and was so thankful there was a bathroom in my room!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: LOL. I'm sorry! Welcome to my world! I think I had another of those last night, but I'm not sure.

I am struggling today -- I slept SO badly last night. I must have woken up at least five times and I just could not stay asleep. I slept relatively well the night before, and I think the difference is I went to a spin class that evening. Seems like exercise helps, but damn it's hard to motivate myself to exercise when I'm so tired!
apricot / 256 posts
Maybe the weird sleeping patterns thing is going around! I went back to my hometown to get my hair done last night and stayed at my parents. Normally I sleep really well there because I can just check out and wake up totally refreshed. Standard wake up time for me is 4:55 am and even though my alarm goes off, i usually wake up without it. I stayed up probably an hour later than normal just chatting with them. This morning, I slept through my alarms and woke up naturally at 7:10!! Was supposed to be at work by 7:30 about 40 min away. Whoops!

For any of you who haven't read this (or want to read it again!), enjoy! It's an awesomely funny weekly pregnancy calendar that almost makes you forget about some symptoms. Almost!

@pwnstar - THANK YOU!!! I am laughing hysterically right now, in a very quiet and heavily populated office. What a discovery!!

@pwnstar: yes, i love her site! she is hysterical
@MrsSCB: I've had a really hard time exercising this week because of nausea, but yea, it totally helps!

@pwnstar: Oh, this is awesome. I've never seen it before! Thanks for sharing.
Besides tired, how's everyone doing?
Here's the latest entry in The Sweater Chronicles. I canNOT wait to finally tell people at work. Will do so after Monday, as long as the NT scan looks good. I'll be 12w 3d on the Tues., and I think that's close enough to the 2nd tri. EEK. Hiding has been exhausting. We'll tell family Monday evening, also as long as the scan in the morning looks good! (All by Skype or phone since everyone is long distance.)
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: so exciting! that's so soon! I'll be sad to see the sweater chronicles end though meanwhile, i'm almost 7 weeks and just went to try on some bridge-the-gap-to-maternity clothes at Loft, and as I was in the dressing room, i noticed i'm starting to bump out a little bit. where did that come from?! not noticeable in clothes yet but still! not even 7 weeks

The nausea is slowly getting better over here. But man, I am just exhausted all the time. I feel so bad that DH has to take over so much with DS because all I can do at night is lay on the couch. I keep leaving work and going home to lay in bed for a little while before DH and DS get home.
So I'm currently trying to decide when to do the bloodwork for the Panorama test. I mentioned upthread the nurse tried to get me to just do it at the 11w appointment because there might not be enough fetal DNA yet and I could need a re-draw. At first I was considering it because I thought you had to be 10w at least. But with Panorama you only need to be 9w. I dug into the numbers a little, and Panorama says that from 9w-10w your chances of needing a re-draw are around 10%, and after 10w your chances of needing a re-draw are around 5%. I really want to know the gender, and I also want to know that everything's ok with the baby. I'm 37 years old and ovulated on CD 25.
So I'm thinking of rolling the dice and going at 9w1d, and if I need a re-draw, I think I'll know by my 11w appointment (though it might be close). The only things is the office is out of my way. And DH thinks I should just wait and not put more on myself by having to go over there.
apricot / 256 posts
@shootingstar if it makes you feel any better I almost certainly am going to need a re-draw for my panorama test as they drew for it last wednesday and that would have made me roughly 7 weeks. bugger!

@dcw6411: Thank you, my fellow bed rest companion. How seriously do you take the bed rest? I take is pretty darn seriously. I basically only get up to pee. I do shower, also. And on my gosh, showering is exhausting. I honestly need to take a nap after I shower. So weird.
@MrsSCB: Ugh. I'm so jealous you are still doing spin classes. I cannot hardly wait to get back to them. Praying its sometime soon.
@pregnantbee: You look adorable! That must be so exciting to tell everyone. Do you plan to make like a big announcement at work? I feel sort of funny telling people and its just kind of seeping out to different people at different times.
@Pirouette: How exciting to be noticing a bump! Is this your first or second? I'm around 8ish weeks and my husband said last night that he sees a pouch on me! Ha! I didn't quite like that, but I suppose a pouch is bound to come before a bump.
@ShootingStar: Is there any reason why you would want to rush it and do it at 9 weeks rather than 11 weeks? I think the risk of being inconvenienced by having to repeat it would be reason enough for me to wait until 11 weeks.
@pwnstar: That's a funny weekly calendar. I only read through about 10 weeks. But she actually has interesting info. Like problems with sciatic nerve - I thought that was just a PIO shot problem, but maybe its a true pregnancy problem. And she also showed how weight gain is to be attributed. I hadn't ever seen that before. Thanks for sharing!
coconut / 8472 posts
@agold: Because I'm a super impatient brat that likes to do things my own way .
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@ShootingStar: if you knew you'd have the results by the 11 week appt, it might make sense. But if you get the draw at 9w and the results aren't in by your 11w appt, and you find out a few days later you have to go back in, that's 3 trips. I dont know how out of the way it is. it's a tough call!
@agold: this is my second and with my first i didn't even have a noticeable bump with no shirt on at the end of the 1st tri! my abs are not what they were pre-c section though so it's not exactly surprising. I don't care, i'm excited to wear my new bridge-the-gap clothes but i'd like not to be showing before my first appt so at least I can wait to tell people until I've seen the baby!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@ShootingStar: As long as insurance will pay twice, no reason not to go when you want Otherwise, save a trip and wait. Waiting is hard, though!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Pirouette: What are "bridge the gap" clothes? Is that a real thing, or just something you are calling clothes that are a size bigger?
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@agold: oh just what i'm calling it I'm petite, so maternity clothes are enormous on me. I never fit into maternity shirts at all with my first, though i suspect I'll be bigger this time around. So i got regular (non-petite) sized work shirts, so they are a little long on me and will fit over a bump. and because there was a big sale, 2 dresses that will accentuate the bump once i'm out of the closet!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@agold: Thank you I think I'll start small and tell my direct work group, then just stop wearing camouflage and let the news trickle out to everyone else.
I'm glad you're taking bed rest seriously -- I really bet it's helping, as you mentioned before.
@Pirouette: I'm excited for your new clothes I looked at pictures of me at different weeks during my first pregnancy, and I had no bump whatsoever at 10w. At almost 12w now, I look like I did at 22-25w last time! Crazy.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Pirouette: Oh darn. Sorry maternity clothes are going to be tough for you. I feel like being petite, you will have such a better selection. I wear a size 30 normally and I'm reeeaaaalllyyyy worrying about being able to fit into the the maternity size of jeans I normally like to wear. Like, if my hips get an inch wider, I'm out.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@pregnantbee: Its hard to take bed rest seriously. My husband is out today having all sorts of fun and all I wanted was a donut. I thought "no reason why I can't just hop in the car and go get one just a mile down the road." But then I thought, just my luck and someone will rear end me and then I'll have to explain to my mom and my husband why I was off the couch in the first place. "Umm... because i needed a donut." Ugh. I opted for a nap instead. Oh yea, and I need to be doing like serious work from home. Sucks.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@agold: Yeah, risking it for a donut isn't the best idea But ask husband to bring home some later
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: it's so true! i took weekly pics last time but somehow lost them when i got a new phone, so the earliest one i have is from 13.5 weeks. My stomach is flat as a pancake! I actually wonder what the earlier pics looked like because maybe this is more bloat than bump, but in reality, I know i'm gonna show much much earlier. Which is good for me, I think, because #1 was so small, and though my doc said there's no connection, I can't help but want to give #2 a little more room to grow
@agold: maternity clothes shopping SUCKED! I couldn't fit into anything and just ended up buying bigger normal clothes. maternity clothes made me look like i was playing dress up in my mom's closet (not professional for work). short people problems! you might find they fit you better than you expect. there's so much stretch to them that the hip size might not be as big of a deal.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: @agold: As far as being short/petite and not showing yet....yes, maternity clothes look ridiculous in the beginning especially when there's no bump and when the shirt has ruching on the sides -- it just looks baggy. I also remember having to fold over the full panel pants at the beginning. Things start looking better when there's more belly to fill it! What I'm tired of already is that so many tops are still either a solid color or horizontal stripes, and it seems like the in-store selections are shrinking! One of the Old Navy stores near me got rid of their maternity section within the last year. I'd love to try some of the online brands, but I always get nervous about things not fitting and then having to return them and potentially pay for returns. I really want to dress a bit more creatively this time around, since this is the last time I'm doing this!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: yes, this exactly! I hated the full panel pants, and mostly wore the ones without the panel. and seriously, WHAT is with horizontal stripes? not flattering to a pregnant belly!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@Pirouette: Thanks for reminding me about the stretch. I do recall seeing a lot of the jeans online being called 'jean leggings'.
@pregnantbee: Gap has free shipping on returns!

I just realized my ultrasound is tomorrow! Cue freak out.
I've been so good about being positive until now and today I feel like I'm gearing up for horrible news. What an emotional roller coaster pregnancy is!

@coopsmama: Oh no! Stay positive! You are always such a positive one in here. Things will be great tomorrow!! No have no reason to think otherwise.

@coopsmama: Hooray for u/s! I'm on the rollercoaster with you. Thank goodness for all of you to have for support.

@agold: I know! I had bleeding with both of my kiddos and have had nothing like that this go around so you'd think I'd be feeling fine and dandy about everything. I think it's just pre ultrasound butterflies.
That and it's been a super long week with my kids. Toddlers that are 2.5 and 1.5 are no joke! The attitudes are...real. My 2 year just informed me, "I not gonna nap mama." Uhhhhh yes you are, son. Because mama needs one!
