@pregnantbee: Thanks for the compliment about their hair! My son is 13 months older than my daughter. The most amazing difference I've observed between them have just been how they are both so stereotypically their gender. I know it's so common for everything to be gender neutral these days and I have truly allowed my kids to explore their own interests and do their own thing but holy cow - my daughter is in love with all things sparkly and pink and hair bows and cute boots and my son is into swords and light sabers and sports (he calls football "meatball" hahaha) and it just shocks me! I thought my daughter would be much more of a tom boy following up so closely to her brother but nope, she'd rather play with her babies and pursue girly stuff. It's just been interesting to see how early these preferences started and I've just let them do their own thing and be their own people!
Super fascinating to me.

@coopsmama: I'm the least girly girl ever and my daughter is already obsessed with painting nails, putting on makeup, dressing in princess clothes. this is not my influence and I find it so fascinating!

I contacted a daycare I'm interested in (it's in the medical center where I work, so very convenient). They have an 18-MONTH waiting list. Good lord. I guess I should have applied 6 months before we conceived...

@coopsmama: That is SO interesting. I was also open to letting my son play with whatever interests him. Wouldn't you know: airplanes, construction vehicles, dinosaurs, garbage trucks, sports. It's not like I sat him down and said, "you're a boy. you will like trucks, etc." I wonder what will happen with my girl.....They'll be 4 years, 2 mo apart, so I wonder how much influence he'll have.

@pregnantbee: I know you're anxious for the extra validation with the NT scan, but it may not make any difference. When I had DS I insisted on doing the MT21 test right after 10w, and then I went in for the NT scan at 12w. By the time we did the NT scan we'd gotten my results back and it was 1 in 40,000 for Down's. During my NT scan the MFM doctor said DS's neck measurement looked to be on the thick side, but since we already had my blood work back, then she was disregarding the measurement.
I'm not sure if all doctors are like this, but the one I saw was definitely letting the blood work overrule something that showed up on the ultrasound. I'd guess probably any soft markers like that they would disregard, given your baby's chances of genetic issues are low.

@ShootingStar: Hmmm, interesting to think about. I guess I'm also thinking, though, that the DNA test doesn't include things like how baby's heart/limbs/etc. are developing, where the placenta is. I also don't know the actual number chance for Downs -- I just know "low risk". I don't know. Maybe it is redundant? The good part is that I moved it earlier by a week, so it's coming up fast.

Hi, girls. I had my ultrasound today and the baby looked good. Baby measured 8w0d and had a heartbeat around 145. I'm in my 8th week so I'm happy with that measurement. Baby looks like he's waving at me in the ultrasound picture. But I was put on another week of bed rest because I'm still bleeding. Doctor didn't have a specific cause for the bleed, just either implantation type bleeding or a twin that didn't take. I transferred two embryos so that second alternative is possible. Anyhow... bed rest. Blah. I'm missing a fun party on Saturday. But the baby grew better during this last week of bed rest than he did the prior week when I didn't take bed rest.

@pregnantbee: Fwiw, for my first, I had super low risk for any chromosomal abnormality (via blood screens) and a perfectly normal NT scan, and I still requested an Amnio. I wanted to be sure, to the extent possible. In my (probably slightly paranoid) mind, someone has to be the 1 in the 1:whatever-thousand. I didn't want to unknowingly be the 1.

@agold: Hooray for a beautiful u/s. I'm so glad baby is staying put. Keep up the good work on bed rest. I know it sucks, but you're doing what you need to do with an excellent goal in mind.

@agold: Sorry you're still on bed rest, but I'm glad you had a good appointment otherwise. Keep it up, baby!

@pwnstar: Thanks for chiming in. I'm just so nervous that there's going to be a problem, you know? I think we'd skip amnio if the NT is good.

@pregnantbee: Thank you so much. My husband's co-worker told him that he thinks "rest saves babies". The co-worker's wife told me the same thing. (they have a few kids) So anyhow.. that's sort of been the theme at my house. And I just keep praying for this baby to grow!

My docs office called to let me know we got prior approval for the harmony test and to be screened to see if I'm a carrier for CF. my husband has been anxious about the CF thing for no reason other than seeing so many patients struggle with it, so it will be nice to know. will get the blood draw out of the way next week!

Thank you everyone. I am mobile so I can't tag everyone. I am having a D&C Monday. DH will be off all day to help me and the boys. I am hoping this will just be relaxed and we can just put this behind me.
