@Silva: I have always wanted to go to Maine. my parents go a lot, and I've never been. It's not in the cards for this summer, but maybe next year! and I agree, nothing better than vacationing with the parents!

@pwnstar: send me a fudge muffin please!!!

@ShootingStar: yay! I'm so glad you had a great NT scan. so the doc wants you on baby aspirin from now until delivery? and mmmm i so want lobster right now...

@agold: I never stopped shedding with my first, and continued to shed post partum, so there was really never a difference for me. And i'm definitely shedding a lot with this pregnancy. I guess I just don't stop shedding, ever?

@T.H.O.U.: Thank you for responding. So no, not clumps, but just a lot more than normal. When I showered this morning, there was A LOT of single strands. But I hadn't actually washed my hair since Saturday morning. (sorry, that's gross and I'm normally a once a day washer, but the truth is, I'm bare move anymore and have 0 sweat to wash away.) My hair is long so I lose some normally. But in the days after the Saturday washing (when I hadn't washed), I noticed quite a bit more single strands here and there - all day long - on my desk, on my sweater, etc. Its really long and straight and I'm hoping I just need to brush it more because I really hardly brush it all. (sorry if I'm sounding disgusting, i'm extremely clean TBH.) I'm praying its not some sort of nutrient deficiency. For sure telling my doctor next week.

@Pirouette: ha! i know I shed - I see it in my car's black interior and on my bathroom floor. But this just seems like a lot more than normal.

  4. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@agold: hmm yea i mean honestly I shed so much, I probably wouldn't even notice if i shed more than usual! Can't hurt to talk to the doctor about it, of course, but I think/hope she'll say it's normal but obviously anything out of the ordinary is worth mentioning to the doctor!

  5. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@agold: I think that could explain a lot. I know if I wear my hair up or don't wash it for 2-3 days it definitely sheds more. Well not really sheds more but it falls out but gets tangled up in my hair until it's actually washed/brushed out.

@agold: I've gone through *major* shedding cycles a few times in the past five years. It seems to usually happen in the summer and it's always really distressing to me. I think it's happened maybe 4 times since 2010, and while I'm not losing clumps and don't have any little bald patches, my ponytail will shrink to half its size. I've asked my physician about it and also asked the endocrinologist who checked my thyroid after my first m/c. They thought it was a kind of cyclical shedding, I think called telogen effluvium (which I believe is actually the same hair loss women have after childbirth). I haven't been shedding as much since all the pregnancies, but just wanted to acknowledge that it might not be related to your hair-washing schedule. The good news is usually when I thought I couldn't take any more and started seriously obsessing, it always seems to stop and counter-intuitive, but cutting my hair did help it look better. I think it's worth asking your OB about but not worth worrying about

@Aandmklover: welcome!! nice to hear about you, and so nice to have another front-runner in the pack so we can see what happens next

@MrsSCB: So glad you're on the mend, that sounded incredibly unpleasant. PS, I didn't know you were in Houston, I have such a soft spot for it.

    Location: NYC
    EDD: boy due 8/25
    How far along: 13w tomorrow
    First child? yes
Next u/s? doppler appointment 2/22, A/S in March
How are you feeling? Much much better for the past couple of weeks, fortunately.
Who have you told? Almost everyone in personal life, the few important people at work
Just for fun: Any trips planned? I think we'll do something in April and again in May. Maybe Spain and California, or Spain and Hawaii.

@T.H.O.U.: YES! My big bro popped in for work and surprised me! I haven't seen him since December so it was soooo good to catch up. Totally made my night!

So I've been staying up pretty late the past two nights and around 1-2a I keep feeling almost a vibrating feeling down low? Could that be the baby or just gas lol? It's the strangest feeling and I just freeze until it stops after a bit! Anyone know what this could be?

  10. Silva

    cantaloupe / 6017 posts

@mrschickpea: how on earth can you stay awake that late?! That's the real question here.
Could be the baby! Some people say it feels like a fish flipping around, I think it definitely has a "vibrating" quality to it. I always have to remind myself where the top of my uterus is right now because sometimes gas bubbles feel a LOT like baby movement. I can feel it best if I lie on my side or on my back, kind of propped up (like for reading).

@LCTBQE: we are talking about maybe doing spain next year! Im dying to go! How long would you go for? We'd want to travel around a bit rather than go to just one place, so we'd need a nice chunk of vacation time.

  12. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

@mrschickpea: It's either gas/tummy rumblings or the baby. But yes, it could definitely be the baby!

@agold: @T.H.O.U.: Same for me. If I go a few days between washings, I get a lot more hair when I comb through my conditioner in the shower than when I wash every day/every other day. For my first pregnancy, I shed hair normally, and I didn't have the huge pp hair loss that some women do.

@Silva: lol, I work graveyards but have been off for 3 nights so I was trying to adjust back to my work schedule for tonight's shift! I also have been taking a lot of daytime naps !

I'm a little behind on this...so sorry! Life has been crazy

    Location: NC

EDD: 8/2/2016, hoping to find out gender in the next few weeks! (I feel so behind everyone else who has found out already!)

    How far along: 16w 2d

First child? No, I have a 3 year old DD

Next u/s? Anatomy scan beginning to mid-March

How are you feeling? Pretty good! Nausea mostly gone, except for between 2-3am every night. More energy, and I'm even making it to the gym almost every day! I crash hard at the end of every day though.

Who have you told? Everyone. We did our FB announcement last weekend. I wasn't quite ready, but my husband was really excited.

Just for fun: Any trips planned? Headed to NY at the end of March to see my family. Road trip!

Totally off topic but...I decided to give stitch fix maternity a try this month and my fix arrived last night. I got a couple super cute things and may share more later, BUT...I did get this amazing pair of black polka dot dressy maternity pants that I loved (Margaret M Emer Maternity Printed Straight Leg Pant) and I totally broke down and wore them today and man am I comfortable! Maybe its placebo effect of new clothes but I dont think I realized how uncomfortable I was in normal pants. Hope you're all having a great day!!

@LCTBQE: we actually moved here from NYC definitely very different, but I love Houston! I'd never even been here until a week before we moved, haha.

@CoffeeMom: Hey, your due date is my birthday! It's a good day

  18. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@MrsKerch: Ahhh I can't wait! My maternity box should be here this week too! I noted in my "notes" stretchy is key, nothing that has to be ironed.

Dang mine is still in TX and wont be here until tomorrow night boo! Maybe I will have a new outfit for the weekend though.

PS I'm totally wearing a stretchy pencil skirt today to work with the zipper about 2" unzipped. My top covers it and it seems to be staying in place

  19. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@MrsKerch: Another question, what were the price ranges of the items in your box? I'm afraid I will fall in love with something that is $60 and way out of my price range.

  20. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@CoffeeMom: I was thinking about you yesterday - hadn't seen you around good for you on hitting the gym every day!

@T.H.O.U.: haha i did the partially unzipped skirt thing for so long with my first! it is seriously hard to find nice work skirts when you're pregnant.

  21. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@Pirouette: Yes, I had one pencil black skirt but it go so grungy (and it was from GAP!). But it was comfortable so I kept wearing it.

  22. MrsKerch

    apricot / 256 posts

@T.H.O.U.: Yay for fresh fun clothes!! I totally LOL'd about your skirt. That was me yesterday!

The pricepoint topic is definitely one of my reservations about what I got. My items (all clothing, no accessories) ranged from $54 to $98, the pants that I love being $98. To be fair, I did NOT have the "cheaper the better" selected on my style profile and probably will for future fixes with the exception of pants. That being said, I am justifying this purchase because I spend 5 days a week in a professional office setting where this level of dress is necessary and expected and I plan to wear these pants once a week. I tend to be really hard on clothes, especially pants, so that price point is in line with what I would typically spend for a pair of pants anyway.

  23. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@T.H.O.U.: haha i basically just gave up on looking professional at work and wore elastic waist skirts. super comfy but definitely very summery and not very businessy attire! but, no one wanted to tell a pregnant woman how to dress

  24. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

Can I complain a little? I am feeling so much better, and was so happy to be able to announce at my office this week, and already so many people have stopped by to congratulate me and tell me how happy they are for me (word travels fast!). On the other hand, I haven't been *out* a week, and already people are commenting on my body. A couple with the typical "I knew it" (yeah, sure, whatever *eyeroll*), and another with this gem, "let's see you get your flat stomach back after this baby. you were so lucky after your first." So. About that. I didn't get lucky. At all. I worked my butt off and it took a looong time. I'm one of the "lucky" ones who held onto weight while BFing, and I didn't fully wean until 15 months . . . so yeah. I know it's to be expected. And I know it's not my issue (it's hers). But it sucked. And made me sad . . . although simultaneously I wanted to knee cap her for trying to rain on my happiness.

  25. MrsKerch

    apricot / 256 posts

@pwnstar: Can I just give you a giant WTF, and a round of applause for not knocking the offender the heck out? Some people need to keep their damn mouths shut. I had someone in my office tell me she thinks im already starting to "pooch" out. Last time I checked, NO woman has ever felt flattered or complimented when the word pooch is in the same sentence as a statement regarding her body. WTF PEOPLE?!

  26. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@pwnstar: ahhhh this makes me all ragey for you!!!! It's totally taboo to comment on a woman's body, until she gets pregnant, and then it's totally fair game? HELL NO! and the "I knew it" people are just as bad, in my opinion. It's like "I thought you were looking a little chunky, but I was waiting for you to tell me the news yourself."

For what it's worth, I bet you do get that pre-baby body back again after this one, regardless how long it takes. and you'll make them all jealous!

  27. pwnstar

    pear / 1718 posts

    @MrsKerch: @Pirouette: Thanks y'all.

@MrsKerch: Pooch? Someone actually used the word pooch? Dafuq? Because no, no woman has ever been flattered by use of that word to describe any part of her body.

@Pirouette: I certainly intend to! I will say it made it easier to say no to cake today, and I bet it will make it just a wee bit easier to roll out of bed tomorrow for a workout.

@pwnstar: Ugh, people are so rude. I'm sorry you're dealing with this at barely even a week "out." UGH.

  29. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@MrsKerch: Hooray for new clothes! I really think they do make a difference, and there's nothing like that first time switching from regular to maternity pants. I don't understand waiting on doing that -- it's just so much more comfortable. I'd love to try Stitch Fix, but I'm also worried about the generally high price point.

And "pooch"? REALLY? What is wrong with people. The only acceptable pregnancy comment is "wow, you are glowing!"

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@T.H.O.U.: @LCTBQE: @Pirouette: Thank you girls, so much, for sharing your hair shedding experiences with me! I'm just glad none of you said "yikes, call the doctor asap!" Hahaha. Phew. I suppose I can wait one more week to talk to someone about it.

@LCTBQE: Spain AND California. or Spain AND Hawaii?? Phfft. Have fun. <---- jealous.

@pwnstar: It would be nice if I can also avoid the mass hair shedding after pregnancy that people talk about. Fingers crossed.

@CoffeeMom: Nice to see you pop back in!

@MrsKerch: and @T.H.O.U.: I'm interested in trying stitch fix maternity! Did the sizes work right for you? How much is the bottom line cost for the service? When trying to fill out my profile, I just got nervous. I don't know if I like to show off my arms or not. And I don't know what price of items I want them to send to me. I started to get overwhelmed! Please tell me its actually easy.

  31. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pwnstar: I'm so sorry you have a negative nilly at your office. No one at my office is particularly happy for me so I know the feeling. You just be you and be happy! Don't worry about what other's say. If you worked hard after baby #1, you can work hard again after this baby. Or you don't have to work hard and you have the awesome body that you were meant to have.

@MrsKerch: Pooch is such a shitty word. Was it really old lady who said that to you? If anyone calls me out on my growing FUPA, I'm just going to consider them a jealous hater.

As for bad comments I've received, husband's good friend's wife is pregnant right behind me. We got our nails done this weekend and she asked me something like "well isn't X common since you did IVF?" Ummm... I never told her that I did IVF. I never talked to her at all about it once. F'n husband told his buddy who is like innocent over-excited gossip king of the county. Anyhow.. I don't think someone should bring up something like pregnancy or IVF unless the person who is pregnant or did the IVF told you from THEIR OWN MOUTH. And this girl herself went to a fertility clinic because she sent me an early ultrasound with the fertility clinic name clearly visible on it and I didn't say anything to her about it. Lame.

@MrsKerch: @Pirouette: @pregnantbee: @agold: My assistant just told me something her daughter (and her daughter's friends) say all the time: "If you ain't got no haters, then you ain't poppin'." It totally made me LOL, so I thought I would share it with all of you!

@agold: When my neighbor was pregnant with her second, even when she was seriously showing, I never talked about her pregnancy with her. Our kids would play together and we would talk about lots of things, but I never asked her a single question about her pregnancy (because she never mentioned it, and I was not about to mention it first!).

@agold: yea, i feel like my husband sometimes tells me things like that that his friends tell him about their significant others, but i would never ever say something to the person it was about! If someone doesn't tell me something directly, I never ever bring it up. It's none of my business!

Meanwhile, since we're talking about maternity clothes, I'm not wearing them yet, but I just went to gap to return something and it looks like they were trying to clear out all of their maternity stuff from the store, because almost everything was marked down to $19.99 plus 30% off! I got a pair of demi panel work pants for $14!

Have you guys thought about nurseries yet? I think we're decided on furniture and I've been pinning some inspiration decoration stuff. I want to go with a pink, teal and gold, and clouds. @ShootingStar: I've started to think about the nursery a little. So much work to do! Assuming this girl remains a girl, I want to do peach, mint or Aqua, grey, gold or silver. White furniture. We have to clear the room so we can measure and paint, etc.

  37. agold

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@ShootingStar: I've started to think about the nursery long before I was even pregnant. The room for the nursery is painted a lightish blue and I'm going to leave it that regardless of gender. I sort of feel like I need to pick the rocker/glider first before I settle on a crib. Rocker seems harder to pick than a crib. I'm freaking out!

  38. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@ShootingStar: i love it! LO's nursery is totally gender neutral (green), so I think we will leave it as is for #2 and officially move LO into her big girl room. She spends a lot of her time during the day in her big girl room but still sleeps in the nursery as of now.

Checking back in - so much going on at work, and still so nauseated, having a hard time keeping up with life! The great news is our CVS results (including microarray) all came back great, so we are over the moon.

    Location: SF Bay Area, California

    EDD: 8/19/2016

    How far along: 13w 6d

    First child? No, 1.5

    Next u/s? Anatomy scan 3/28

How are you feeling? Ugh! Still battling nausea every day, and still dealing with awful food aversions. At least I don't have hyperemesis this time!! Last time my nausea/vomiting endured until the day I delivered. My doctor said that is VERY unusual, and I'm almost certainly going to do better this time, since my morning sickness is on the "normal" end of the spectrum this time. I'm holding out hope that it'll go away this time by 16 weeks, like a normal person!!

On the exciting side of things, I've been feeling baby move about once a day or so for the past week, despite having an anterior placenta. I felt movement early last time too (at 14w) despite having an anterior placenta then too, so I think I'm just lucky (and super ticklish).

Who have you told? Family, close friends, and just told work. Telling everyone else as we see them. May do a FB post in a few weeks.

Just for fun: Any trips planned?
Planning a long weekend road trip in March to visit Yosemite for my husband's birthday. We haven't been in years and it's a very special place to us--it's high time we introduce our LO to it (her nursery theme is National Parks!), and it is so beautiful in the snow.

Just booked our plane tickets for a babymoon in Maui in May!! We'll be taking LO and cannot wait for a week+ of sun, sand and a little spa-time for me, too. Cannot. Wait.

@stratosphere: good to see you here!!! I am so sorry you are still sick - i really hope your doctor is right! That's interesting that you said you're already feeling kicks with an anterior placenta - I've had two instances the past 2 days where I felt little taps on my cervix, and was like could it be? I mean, it felt exactly like the early taps from last time, but I'm only 12 weeks with an anterior placenta...or I guess kicks on the cervix might not be impacted by that?

and btw, a national parks themed nursery is the coolest idea I've ever heard. she's gonna love Yosemite!
