@stratosphere: nice to see you pop back in! I might be taking a babymoon to Maui in late May! And Yosemite sounds amazing. Please do share pictures of your National Parks nursery whenever you get some. I grew up with summer trips to many different national parks. I can't wait to do the same with my LO. Also - I just saw advertised on TV some sort of 3D movie about national parks.

It looks amazing.

@stratosphere: A national parks nursery made me think of this nursery I saw a while ago:

We aren't doing a nursery- just a nook in our bedroom. We are painting our bedroom sometime soon (we moved to this house in June, so everything has been a work in progress). I'm sanding and painting my daughters old crib because she chewed on it a lot...just painting it white, I think. I think I've picked out fabric for the crib sheets (we have a mini crib, so there aren't a lot of choices and it will be cheaper to sew it than order from etsy!). I picked out a simple mobile with swallows on it. My mom is getting me a glider- we didn't have one last time and I'm so excited!
Lots of little projects to do. We aren't really "matchy" in our decor- ever. But our bedroom will hopefully have a light, organic, natural feel that extends to the baby's nook!
Right now I have to finish a quilt for a friend who is do in May, so that I can get to work on my very long list of projects for this baby!
Finally, I popped into tj maxx today and found a couple loose, longer tanks that will fit for at least another 10 weeks I think. I can wear them with cardigans to work. Good enough for now. Waiting for a jcrew order to arrive- hopefully the jeans I ordered fit me better than the nice pair I already have

@Pirouette: @agold: Thanks so much ladies! We have a super soft spot for the National Parks, as we used to go backpacking in Yosemite, Lassen and/or Sequoia almost every summer. A hike in Muir Woods was our very first date! The first year we were dating (13 years ago!) we went on a six-week road trip after I graduated from grad school, stopping and camping in as many Western National Parks as we could, from Big Basin to Yellowstone to Grand Tetons to Rocky Mountain to Arches to Bryce to Death Valley and then Yosemite. That was when we truly fell in love and knew we needed to spend the rest of our lives together. If you can live out of a car, mostly tent-camping, for over a month with someone, they are THE ONE!
The nursery turned out exactly like I had hoped, and the best part is it is completely gender-neutral so will be no need for any changes at all when this LO arrives. We're in a 2-bedroom apartment so both LOs will have to share once this baby leaves the bassinet in our room.
I took some pretty good photos of the nursery with the "good" camera for LO #1's baby book a few months ago so will just have to find those on our crazy disorganized hard drive and post some here!

@mrschickpea: @Silva: ahhh I can't wait to feel movement! keep us posted if that's what it turns out to be mrschickpea
@Pirouette: I'd like to go to Spain for about a week and drive around the south--longer would be so nice, but I'm greedily trying to fit in other travel before/after. Plus our doggy is very, very old and I don't like leaving her for too long. Nice to hear you think Spain would be fun with a young family though are you traveling this spring/summer?
@agold: yeah, two big trips sounds excessive and I'm not sure we'll pull it off, but the thing is that a couple of days ago I suddenly realized that the baby is going to come and use up all the money that I've been saving and working so hard for all these years. So I think I'd better panic and preemptively spend it on myself before the baby gets here and I feel guilty buying anything but baby junk. Where's the angel with halo emoji on this thing?
@stratosphere: nice to meet you! it's great to hear that you're unconcerned about 2 little little kids sharing a room--we are in NYC, everything is small I want to see those nursery pictures if you can find them, it sounds so cool and unusual.

@MrsSCB: ironic! do you miss New York? I get so homesick for Texas (I'm from Austin, which I feel like is quickly turning into LA ) but then I worry when we leave that I'll be whining about how great it was here and my husband will have to kill me. Obvz the solution is summer brownstone/winter ranch.

@pwnstar: are you kidding me? who are these fucking lunatics? that is such shit-bag, insult-wrapped-in-fake-compliment garbage. I wish it didn't make you sad, but understandable--will have a quick look online to see if I can find tanya harding's contact info.

I forgot to do this again!
Location: Idaho
EDD: 8/11
How far along: 15 weeks
First child? Nope, my third. I have a 2 year old boy and a 1 year old girl.
Next u/s? I have a regular appointment tomorrow morning and will likely schedule A/S then for sometime in March.
How are you feeling? I am still nauseous every single day but have only puked one time in over a week so I feel confident that we're trending in the right direction... Lots of energy now, though.
Who have you told? Close family, and others as it has come up naturally. No FB announcement yet - probably after anatomy scan.
Just for fun: Not this time. But we're going to Mexico in 2017 for my husband's work so that's a good consolation prize.

@ShootingStar: we painted the nursery a dusty seafoam color and are hoping to accent with grey, white and mint. Maybe even a few pops of deep teal Similar feel to below colors since we're team green!

@stratosphere: that's really cool - i love your national park history can't wait to see pics!
@LCTBQE: hahaha oh we plan on going to spain WITHOUT the kids! I'm thinking probably next fall, so I can wean from breastfeeding and feel ready to leave the kids for a little getaway!
we're going to Florida for a few days next week to visit my FIL, but other than that we're not going to do any travel pre-baby, because I'm expecting to start the new job in april, and that won't leave me much vacation time before maternity leave. Plus I'm hoping that if my husband doesn't use his vacation, he can use it all when the baby comes so we can be home together as a family the first few weeks (he did this last time and it was AMAZING, especially since I was recovering from a c section).
@mrschickpea: wow, that is gorgeous! I love the colors!

@LCTBQE: I miss it sometimes, but my H and I had lived there since college and I think we were both ready to just pick up and move somewhere else. I loved living in NYC, especially being there through my early and mid-20s (so much fun) and I'll always love visiting, but I don't think I ever thought it would be my permanent home. And I was just there last weekend -- that cold spell definitely didn't make me miss it more
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@MrsSCB: I can completely understand that mentality. I have so many friends that left as they were nearing 30 and wanted to settle down, and it got to the point where we had so few friends left in the city. My friends are scattered around the country now. Once we had a mobile baby, it just wasn't practical to stay in the city anymore. I'm still in the city every day for work, but I don't miss living there as much as I expected to. I think it is an amazing place to spend your 20s, but not the greatest place for most to spend your 30s, unless you are seriously making bank! we toyed with the idea of settling permanently in BK or Queens, but at the end of the day, the lure of the suburbs and all that space was too hard to give up - and my commute is shorter now than a lot of the places we would have considered!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@Pirouette: Exactly -- not many of my friends have kids yet, but a lot have already relocated around the country. I think we would have ended up moving to a house in New Jersey or some other suburban area. It is nice to have a car again here in Houston, although the traffic can be horrible!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@MrsSCB: yea, i was the first among my friends to have a baby - at 32! But a lot of my friends had recently left NYC and they all got pregnant within a year of me, so I guess they just needed to resettle first
Guys, I'm getting really impatient for my panorama results! I really want to tell my boss today, because I'm going on vacation the first half of next week, but I still haven't gotten the panorama results back. My NT scan was great, and they said they'd only call with bad results on that blood work, so I assume that's ok too. To tell my boss today or wait until after my panorama results come back and tell him in a week? I can't decide! I'm not actually planning on telling work, only my boss.
pear / 1718 posts
@Pirouette: Your NT scan was great (YAY!!!), I would go ahead and tell your boss. It's the anticipation of telling that is so stressful, and then you can check one more thing of your list of to-do's and enjoy your long weekend! And WE're excited for you to get your results too!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Pirouette: I would go ahead and tell your boss. And maybe just tell him you are still awaiting some test results so you aren't ready to share with the entire office/staff just yet, but wanted to make sure he heard it from you first.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
With many of us having Anatomy Scans coming up...
1) Are you waiting until your A/S around 18-20 weeks to find out or will you do an elective place sooner? Or will your OB tell you sooner?
2) How do you want to find out the gender? Anyone doing a reveal party?
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pwnstar: thanks! i know, the wait to find out or
is killing me too! I want to tell my daughter if she's going to have a brother or sister! and I agree, it would make my little trip much more relaxing if i tell him!
@T.H.O.U.: that's exactly what I was thinking. he will definitely understand under the circumstances why I'm not telling the rest of the office, and absolutely would not tell anyone.
OK, i think i may tell him this afternoon - it would be a nice way to kick off the weekend!
@T.H.O.U.: my u/s center does 2 anatomy scans to check growth - one at 16 and one at 20. so I should find out with panorama, but sex will be confirmed at 16 weeks! I am not doing a reveal party, but I really wanted to order some scratch off cards from amazon and have our parents open them and scratch them off to find out the gender. But that's if I can wait until they ship after I find out the gender
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@T.H.O.U.: We already found out it's a girl based on the results of the NIPT Counsyl. Of course, I'm scared it's wrong, so I can't wait for the A/S in part to confirm it's still a girl! Not doing anything else elective before then. Oh and DH and I logged into my account together when the results arrived and then counted and clicked the "reveal" button.
ETA: And when we were ready to tell family about the pregnancy, we called them on Skype and just told them all at once that I'm pregnant and it's a girl! They were all so excited.
pomelo / 5257 posts
@T.H.O.U.: We're doing an elective on March 5 at 16w4d, then our official A/S is at 20 weeks. We'll find out at the scan, but not sure how we'll tell family. Maybe we'll think of a fun way to tell over Skype? Or maybe we'll just blurt it out, haha. I had a dream last night that it's a boy, so we'll see if I might be psychic
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@pregnantbee: Its still so weird to me that so many people are able to announce the pregnancy and the gender at the same time! I've had several people congratulate me and ask if we know what it is yet. I'm like, uhh I just told told you I'm pregnant and I'm barely showing, but I guess even the public is starting to assume people find out earlier and earlier.
@MrsSCB: I'm really leaning toward asking the OB to check at 16 weeks or doing an elective around 17-18 weeks. But I just dont know if I can wait until 20, that seem so far away.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
I love finding out what you guys are all having!!!
We have an anatomy scan scheduled for 20 weeks. I picked that week because my husband has a vacation scheduled, so he will actually be able to attend. Otherwise it probably would have been a little earlier. We aren't finding out the sex, so it doesn't matter beyond me being excited to see the baby again! And for my daughter to get to come and see it!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@T.H.O.U.: 20w would definitely seem like an eternity not to know if I didn't already know at around 11w! I'd maaaybe consider an elective scan sooner than 20w.

@MrsSCB: LOL. I only had dreams it was a girl last time. Even had a hot British dr in my dream tell me that "well, lookie there, you've got a beautiful girl." (in a British accent). I also dreamt that she was born and then held up and we named her what we were planning on for a girl. NOPE. Had a boy. This time, I had no idea. Just a feeling it's a boy based on my symptoms being so similar to the first time. If the NIPT is right, it's a girl. So I'm terrible at predicting for myself!
ETA: We were TG the first time, so I was shocked in the delivery room when it was a boy!
pomelo / 5257 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I'm so eager I even asked them to try to look at my 13 week ultrasound, lol. She looked in the area for a minute and was like, "Nope." Worth a try!
@pregnantbee: I have no feeling or hint either! It's going to be a total surprise either way. My friend, on the other hand, was POSITIVE she was having a girl. I saw her the day before her A/S and she was saying, "Well, this is just going to be confirmation. It's a girl. I know." And it was! But she was so convinced I'd started to wonder, "What happens if it's not a girl?" Probably best that she was right...

@LCTBQE: I love your "spend all the money now" plan!!!
@mrschickpea: That's beautiful inspiration.
@T.H.O.U.: I had an early genetics test done so my gender was determine about a week or so ago. We will be doing a little reveal cake cutting at my mom's house next week on Thursday. My sister now insisted on getting the cake for me and I think her and my mom are making it a little party with decorations and such. It will only be about 6ish people, so small but fun.

I had an appointment today finally! The last time we were able to check in on baby was 5 weeks ago so I was thrilled it was here.
All sounds good - HB on Doppler was between 130 and 140. I got to schedule the anatomy scan and next appointment and they will be 5 weeks from today when I'm 20+1 on March 25th. We will hopefully find out gender then!
Not so great news...nausea is fully back today and I threw up. Eeek. And here I thought I was done. 🙄

Those of you with toddlers- are you getting them a gift when the baby comes? I've been thinking about using it as an excuse to get my daughter a nice new doll. She plays a lot with two dolls that were mine when I was little (so- very old), and I'd love to get her a new one...but then I'm thinking maybe since she is already attached to the ones she has it would just be more "stuff" and not get played with much?
What other things have people on their 3+ done to help toddlers transition? She will be going through several transitions when the baby is born. My husbands schedule will change completely in July- for the better, but still a transition, she will likely stop attending her in home daycare in July, and will be starting preschool in September.... all that plus the baby being born in August has me a little worried about her, even though she is usually pretty easy going and adaptable.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@coopsmama: Congrats on the great appointment! And so sorry your nausea is back.
@Silva: I have heard about having a present at the hospital for your toddler when the toddler comes to see the new baby and saying "hey toddler, this is a present for you from new baby!"
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@agold: yeah, i've heard of that too. i don't want to make it all about gifts...but it also seems like a nice occasion for her to get a nice doll. my mom is going to be helping us for awhile, and she is basically my daughter's favorite person in the world, so I"m hoping that special trips/activities with Gramma Sadie will feel special rather than "second priority to mama."
obviously this is totally worth worrying about now. its better than the googling of various birth defects I was doing yesterday.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Silva: My friend got her daughter a big sister necklace. Think similarly to what you'd get a mom with a baby's initial and charm, except it might be your daughter's initial, birthstone, and other charm. Or maybe also a charm representing baby or baby's initial.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@pregnantbee: oh, that's a sweet idea! She was asking if she could have a necklace just yesterday!
coconut / 8472 posts
@Silva: We've thought about doing the gift thing, but we haven't decided on anything. Part of me likes the idea of having a gift ready for him when he comes to visit at the hospital. But we were also tossing around the idea of doing something build a bear for both of them, and of course the best part of build a bear is letting the kid pick it out.
So maybe we'd go there shortly before or after she's born and have DS pick out something out for both of them? He'll be 2.9 so I'm not sure if he'll understand the concept of picking out something for someone else yet.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@ShootingStar: that would be fun! I think I'm going to bring my daughter to pick out a stuffed animal for the baby at some point, too.
Did you read the thread about bringing toddlers to the hospital to visit the baby? I have totally romanticized it, but in reading that thread I think my daughter could be a. Scared to see me in the hospital (her dad works at one so she understands it to be a place for "sick" people), and b. Really upset when she has to leave.
