@dcw6411: Me neither, feels so weird and makes me nervous!

@Aandmklover: I hope the travel dies down for you guys soon. My husband's super busy travel and work season is approaching (mostly May until July) and I'm already dreading it. And I don't even have any older LOs to look after!

@MrsSCB: I have been having similar digestive issues. I try not to eat after 7ish (which sometimes is not possible, but I try) and try not to overeat (which is a smaller amount than overeating pre-pregnancy!). And pregnancy is just so gaseous . . . totally zexxay!

@Aandmklover: My DH has been travelling pretty relentlessly for the last couple months . . . he is finally home now for a whole week and weekend(!). But working full time and taking care of a toddler (and all the household stuff) takes a toll quickly when there's no backup. Even if he's coming home after dinner/bath/bed, he still can swing by the store for any emergency pickups and help with little things around the house. Not to mention it is just easier to relax when he is home. I hope you get a break soon!

@mrschickpea: YAY for a good appointment! For some reason knowing my *ladies* are doing well makes me (1) happy!; and (2) feel more relaxed about my pregnancy (if that makes sense).

@LCTBQE: Good luck today! And ask every question you can think of. Every OB/nurse I have ever met with has said they would much rather answer your questions and you feel silly than you not ask and worry.

@MrsBeluga: @pwnstar: @Silva: @ShootingStar: @pregnantbee: All you girls' bumps look so adorable!! You can't deny the baby once the bump shows up. Lucky girls!

So I think I decided on a glider this weekend, and narrowed down my stroller choices to two! Phew! Those two things were causing me to lose sleep at night!

@agold: Haha, thanks! I can still make it mostly go away when holding it in.....but not for long!

Not that you asked, but having been through this before, my biggest advice is that you don't need everything the baby marketers tell you that you need. Also, there really are no "wrong" choices. I found the Baby Bargains book to be invaluable. Here's the link on Amazon, but I bet your local library also has it. They really stress that you don't have to pay top dollar for some things like cribs because they still all have to meet safety standards. AKA, $175 crib from Babies R Us is just fine

@MrsBeluga: Welcome to the August group!

@dcw6411: I'm so glad you popped back in! Has your bleeding stopped? I noticed brown spotting every. single. day. until three days ago! I'm praying mine has finally stopped.

@pregnantbee: I know we aren't talking specifics about where we live, but I always like to pay attention to little hints you drop! Too bad California is such a huge, long state!

@pregnantbee: I'll try to post one later today.

@agold: Yep all my bleeding has stopped! I have some contractions that come and go but nothing like before. I so hope yours is gone for good!

@pregnantbee: Thanks for telling me that. I was really having a hard time with the prices of things. In general, I'm drawn to pricey things. But like, $1,299 for a glider from Land of Nod was giving me anxiety. This weekend, I happened to casually walk to through Buy Buy Baby by myself. (I probably looked like a creep, but I'm hoping maybe I looked a little pregnant because I was just in tight gym clothes.) So I sat in a GLINDING RECLINER and I think I love it. And its $699. Still a lot, but so much better than Land of Nod. And it looks similar to the Land of Nod one. As for strollers, I was thinking the full size Uppa Baby Vista is what I had to have. But then I'm seeing that there are smaller and, more importantly, lighter, strollers that are maybe a better fit for suburbs. So there's lesser expensive options that I'm considering like Uppa Baby Cruz and Cybex Balios. For cribs I have always been cool with a lesser expensive one. I'll probably go with a babyletto crib in a $399 price range. I'm going to now look at the link you posted and maybe it will help me to revise down my selections even more. Because honestly... this baby has already cost me more than I care to admit with IVF and all that lead up to it.

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@agold: Totally understand. I am a researcher, and I definitely researched and stressed about buying Every. Little. Thing. We have a City Mini stroller, and it works great for the 'burbs. It's one of the lighter and more compact ones out there. We really didn't and don't use it all that much b/c I used to carry him a lot in an Ergo (for us, a MUST buy). We also had the Chicco Keyfit 30 seat and the frame stroller that you can buy (not the giant travel system). Loved using that while he could still fit in the bucket seat b/c it was so light! It also had a great basket underneath. Our crib was this one (or maybe a slightly older model): http://www.toysrus.com/product/index.jsp?productId=50556276&cp=&parentPage=search

And I could literally hang off of it, and it was so sturdy. I think we used a 20% off coupon or something to buy it, and it was literally around $175. Definitely reusing it for #2.

So.....there are tons of decisions. And basically, you really can't go wrong, and you can find steals and deals. And don't forget to check baby consignment shops or Craigslist b/c you might find a gently used stroller for a fraction of the price.

    grapefruit / 4045 posts

@pregnantbee: Yep, I'm totally checking craigslist for things. I will do a registry and have some sweet friends that will probably go in together and get me some things. We also have grandparents and various other people. I'm going to get my sister's Bob stroller and use a professional stroller cleaning service that comes around once and a while. I will use that for walks and such that my husband and I go on around the neighborhood. Otherwise, I will just need a stroller for like Sunday after church at an outdoor mall with my mom. No need for a full size heavy stroller, but I still want a smaller one that looks nice, has a huge sun shade, one-handed recline, parent-facing seat, and a standing fold. Geesh. Its too much.

@agold: FYi - We dont have a standing fold because that seemed to the a low priority and ruled out a lot of strollers for us. Since I keep ours in the back of my van, its laying down all the time anyways, so i dont miss the standing fold at all.

@agold: Also, we have the cheap cheap cheap Graco crib and honestly its holding very strong going on to kid #3. Another friend had the Delta brand and its under $200 as well.

    @dcw6411: Adorable!!!

@T.H.O.U.: Good point about keeping the stroller in the car. Its very possible that is what we would do, too, since the stroller would be the one we would use for out and about. So good point. Maybe standing fold isn't necessary. I'm just so worried about space too. And oh my gosh. The Bob is huge. That is one that will just be in my garage all the time. Thanks for this perspective!

@pwnstar: @pregnantbee: @MrsSCB: thank you for the hand-holding! So much I want to reply to everyone on but I'm at work and just on my cell phone. Appointment went fine heard the HB (no sonogram this time) and I'm going to do both a 16-wk and 20-wk anatomy scan around March 10/April 10, will update the roster when I get dates. I grilled her about my listeria paranoia and she basically said, it's extremely rare and no one in this practice has ever seen it, lots of women have the same symptoms you did and it's never looked into, it can't be tested for now anyway, and if by some chance I did get it, it wouldn't be apparent for a long time. So I'm making a decision to stop obsessing, period. Whew. Happy Monday.

@agold: You never really know what you're going to like until you really start using the stuff. I LOVE our full size stroller (city select) and call it my pack mule. It's great to have a big basket underneath and to have something that's really comfortable to push. We also have a b-agile and it's just kind of meh. Yeah it's light and it's folds easy, but that kind of stuff is like 1% of my stroller usage. I appreciate something that drives nicely and has tons of space.

We've never had a stroller with standing fold it never really mattered. The parent facing option was big for us though. DS freaked out the first time we used the Agile because it only faced away. Big sunshade is a plus for us too - good for both sun and for wind when it's cold.

@LCTBQE: sounds a lot like what my doc said. When she came by my room, I said, "I'm feeling a lot better, but my main worry now is I've heard some of the food-borne illnesses can be really bad for the baby." At first she kind of looked at me like what are you talking about?? But then she said, "ohhh, you mean listeria? You'd likely have a high fever and feel even worse than you do now, believe it or not, and it would last a lot longer." She didn't seem at all worried!

I officially stopped taking new clients as of today. I'm not completely full, but pretty close. And most of my clients indicated a desire to continue with me after maternity leave. Most won't, I'm sure (therapy clients tend to come and go pretty quickly), but it was starting to stress me out because I'm really hoping to be down to 7 clients by June so I can consolidate to one day in the office. I'm at 12 or 13 right now. Hopefully it works out!
Also, my daughter is with my parents for a couple days so I'd planned on going to yoga tonight but I just cannot. It's mostly the 40 minute drive that persuaded me to stay home in my pajamas. But also, laziness. at least I've been using the treadmill regularly finally.

@LCTBQE: I'm glad the appointment went well! It's really really hard not to worry about all the things that can go wrong. It starts to seem like a miracle that anyone ever has a healthy baby. But they do! All the time! More often than not!

@pwnstar: Its just such an awkward conversation to have with my male boss and all male coworkers! Last time they all thought I was going to quit and become a SAHM and were panicked for months, that and more (completely nice) attention to my bump than I would normally get which made me feel I dunno awkward? Think like the equivalent of someone staring at your boobs, but instead staring at your gigantic belly :).

@MrsBeluga: Oh my! And yes. Awk-ward! I can absolutely see why you would want to wait as long as possible! Let The Sweater Chronicles Part Deux continue! And as an aside, what is it about pregnant women that turns some people into complete (mostly well-meaning!) morons?!

  37. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@pwnstar: @MrsBeluga: Ugh. Yeah, I probably would have tried waiting to tell, too. I work with the public, and the comments are insane. Even some staff members are weird when it comes to pregnancy. I dislike that being pregnant apparently makes some people feel like commenting on our bodies is fair game.

  38. LCTBQE

    nectarine / 2461 posts

@MrsSCB: reading what your doctor told you is so, so reassuring to me, thank you. I like my OB but she's very dry--not the type to make broad generalizations like "don't worry about it". I'm realizing that freaking out will ruin my pregnancy and I just don't want to do that. Plus, I'm pretty confident I'll find something much more ubiquitous and scary to worry about. On that note
@Silva: yes, I am in therapy to manage my anxiety I can't believe your clients are in and out so fast! but that's wonderful that you're whittling down a little bit in anticipation. must be a relief to bar the door for a while. it does seem impossible sometimes that anyone has a healthy pregnancy and child, but I keep looking around at all the people on the packed subway every morning thinking, all of you people blaring your headphones and blocking the doors are alllllll viable pregnancies… it's helping. and finally I have no idea how *anyone* exercises at night, let alone after a work day. I think good for you for even considering going to yoga

Guys! I actually cooked dinner tonight. I was feeling like crap last night with sinuses so DH had kids for bedtime. I didn't want to spend more money eating out so I threw this together in less than 20 minutes. DH even ate two helpings.
