@T.H.O.U.: this looks awesome, I love those 50s one-dish recipes! I always forget about them.
@Silva: that sounds like amazing, tough, honorable work

@LCTBQE: I had a crazy dream about it being a boy!
We really need to decide how we want to find out. I'm not sure if we want to just know at the appointment or in an envelope or do a full cake with family.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: It was hard for me to decide how to find out gender, too! I quickly ruled out finding out at the ultrasound appointment because I have generally been too terrified at appointments to enjoy them at the moment. So I knew it would be an envelope. I wanted to open it after a nice intimate dinner with my husband. But my husband wanted a cake with immediate family. So cake it is! Best of luck. When will you be finding out?
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: So if the OB can take a peek at 16 weeks I will have him look and put it in an envelope. If not at 20 weeks in March.
Obviously I would love to know sooner but we are thinking about doing a reveal with wither friends the March 18th or with family Easter weekend March 27th. If we were to get an envelope next week, I dont think I could not look at it for that long. Ideally Id love to do a reveal with both groups but I'm not sure how we could pull off both. Maybe we do all three, dinner with DH and I to find out, and then two cakes to reveal to friends and then family?

@agold: We have our 20 week scan at 8:45AM, planning to have them put the gender in an envelope, then afterward going for an adult brunch date where we open the envelope on our own (LO is in AM preschool so this is officially our date time). Last time we found out at the ultrasound appt, and DH was so freaked out/afraid/nervous (we found out we were having a girl) that he was speechless for the remaining 45 minute appt. All of this just to say to make sure you prep your DH, because his reaction will be watched by a bunch!

@LCTBQE: well, since you requested...
I'm in Florida right now, so I'm a few days behind on here, but my doctor called! I freaked out because she said she'd only call with bad news, but she immediately said it was good news. NT and panorama both came back very low risk!
so I had a dream last night that the panorama results were uploaded and I checked them and it was a boy! Which is hilarious because I've been 100% certain it's a girl. So my husband was sitting right next to me and he says "I changed my mind, I don't want to find out." What?! I started crying because I was so happy and then got upset that I couldn't share it with him. I woke up and realized I actually really wanted a boy, even though I was sure it was a girl.
anyway, similar symptoms and high h/b aside, we are having a boy!! And my husband not only wanted to know in real life, but is overjoyed lo isn't pleased, actually she's in denial at the moment, and keeps correcting us "no, you mean sister" but she'll come around
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Pirouette: Yea!!! A I'm sure DD will come around. mine LO loves her little brother SO much.
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: So you would do a party to reveal to your family and friends when you actually already know the gender? I am just going to have my sister tape my husband and I cutting the cake and then we are going to text the video out to our friends who have expressed specific interest in seeing the cake cutting. Otherwise, gender will just be spread through word of mouth. But I'm not one for attention-getting events in general so I'm the worst at parties. I already feel my own Thursday even with immediate family amounting to 8 people is too much! But I think if you could manage 3 separate reveal parties/events then why not??
@MrsBeluga: Hahahah! You are so funny. I absolutely love the idea of an adult brunch. I would have wanted something like that too. And yes, I already thought through our emotions regarding each gender. This is our first and we generally don't care what we are having. I want my husband to have a boy, and he wants me to have a daughter. So unless he's lying, I think our reactions will be okay! Luckily a lot of our friends have little girls so that has broken him into the idea of having a daughter. You will have to let me know asap how your brunch goes!! I'm assuming your husband is hoping for a son.

@Pirouette: Congratulations!!! And welcome to Team Blue!
And no worries about your DD . . . my LO is slowly coming around to the idea of a baby brother, and I'm sure yours will too!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@agold: No! I do not want that much attention but since we were team green for our last two babies, everyone is super excited this time to find out. And I know I'm not going to last more than a few days with the envelope in my possession. So yea, just trying to figure out how we share the news with everyone! We haven't even announced the pregnancy on social media so I think we will also announce there once we know the gender.

@Pirouette: Hooray for great testing results and a baby boy on the way!!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@T.H.O.U.: @pwnstar: thanks guys! I know she'll come around I actually think in some ways it'll be easier for her, since the baby won't constantly be wearing her hand me downs - she gets upset whenever we box up her old clothes and I can only imagine her reaction to someone else wearing it
@agold: thanks!! I felt the same way about my first - wanting my husband to have his mini-me. And when we found it was a girl, I thought there would be all this pressure for the second to be a boy! But he loves his little girl so much and she truly is his mini me - he actually said he's excited for a boy because he thinks he'll be more like me since he already has one like him! Go figure I can't wait to find out what you are having!
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@T.H.O.U.: How exciting that you are finding out gender for your last after being team green for your first. I think you should do as many parties as you want.
@Pirouette: That is just the sweetest thing about your husband have a little girl mini-me. So very sweet.

@dcw6411: thanks!! Great to see you back here, I feel like you were mia for a little while and I missed you
@agold: I know, they are too cute together - two peas in a pod. Just shows you gender sometimes isn't the most important thing!
@ShootingStar: Thanks!! We're going the opposite directions - we should trade clothes haha! I'm so so excited to have one of each.
@pregnantbee: Thanks, and yea I know! I so thought I'd be evening out the girl side!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: Uh, I'm in for trading clothes, too Have tons of boy stuff that I won't be using unless my DNA test was totally wrong!
Maybe we should update the due date list to include what sex we already have if we have a child already? I think there's now at least 3/4 of us who have or are expecting one of each?
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: yes! I think it would be awesome to do a little clothes swap definitely after we've had anatomy scans to confirm of course!
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Pirouette: Haha, yes, please. Though you and @ShootingStar: are geographically closer, so way less $$ for shipping
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
I will for sure let you guys know what clothes we are getting rid of! I can't wait to find out because I have boxes of both genders!
pomegranate / 3331 posts
@pregnantbee: oh that won't matter to me, baby clothes are so light anyway I think we should just see how many people have clothes to swap and want in and then figure out how best to do it when the time comes.
@T.H.O.U.: can't wait for you to find out!

I forgot how boring this stage of pregnancy is. I mean, boring is good. But August seems like forever away.
I made baked potato soup for dinner tonight, which was a really good decision. Hey, all that sour cream/milk/cheese means I'm good with calcium today!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Aandmklover: I was going through an old thread looking for name inspiration and saw you had posted August. Is that still in the running? Now that we are on baby #3 in August, I think it would be kinda cute for a boys name! Plus we dont have a lot of other ideas.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Woot! Assuming we're definitely having a girl, I can't wait to clean out all the boy clothes. Knowing me, though, I'll have to keep a couple pieces for sentimental reasons. And I'll probably also see what could still work for a girl with other girlier pieces mixed in
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Silva: Boring is good....and also boring. I can't wait to start feeling movement for a little reassurance. And I still get so nervous as appointments get closer.
cantaloupe / 6017 posts
@pregnantbee: I do get nervous, too. I'm feeling movement but it isn't regular. I hope you feel it soon!
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@Pirouette: Congratulations! That's super exciting.
@pregnantbee: I have been feeling movement sporadically but I think it's almost worse than if it had started and been a daily thing a little bit further down the road. I feel like it's driving me crazy the days I don't feel it after feeling it - makes me feel like something is wrong even though baby is still so small it will be sporadic at best. Eeeeek!
clementine / 928 posts
@Pirouette: congrats on your !
@T.H.O.U.: August! It unfortunately almost rhymes with our last name so it was knocked off the list early
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@Silva: @coopsmama: Oh, yeah, I can understand how feeling then NOT feeling consistent movement is also scary. I had a terrible, awful, no good, very bad dream about the baby last night. And I just worry it will come true!
