@pregnantbee: oh no! Those are the worst! I used to wake up screaming and scared the daylights out of my husband.

@pregnantbee: That's so great to have close friends pregnant with you!! I have three close friends all due within 2-4 weeks before/after me. Its so fun and I'm just SOOOO relieved to be one of the pregnant girls this time around. Phew.

So sorry about your charley horse!!! Those are horrible! Did it wake you up out of your sleep? I've had a toe cramp once for like 25 minutes. I drank so much water which seemed to helped it.

@Silva: Thanks for the empathy. I woke DH with this one.

@agold: Oh, yay! It will be so great getting to be with other new mom friends! I'm thrilled that you get to participate this time

I think I have to up my water intake. I'm still not great at getting enough throughout the day. Maybe that will help decrease the cramping.

@pwnstar: I hope you have a great appt!

@pregnantbee: that's so fun! I'm totally jealous, as none of my friends are pregnant.

thanks for checking on me ladies! I just got back from my appt and baby looks great! he was waving to me. the doc did say that the ultrasound center doctors are very careful with pregnancies after IUGR babies, so there's a chance I might be required to have routine monitoring in the 3rd tri even if baby isn't measuring small. which is a bummer, but I'm still holding out that baby will clear a high enough %ile that they'll forego it. we'll see!

also, holy crap i've gained twice as much as i had by this time with my first! makes sense since i've been starving and eating like a pig, but still a little surprising given i'm still in normal clothes and don't really have a bump yet. so i guess i'm just gaining all over. Felt a little better about it, given that she complimented my abs and asked me for workout tips during the ultrasound, so i guess i haven't totally become the fatass that i felt after seeing the scale. but sadly my response was "well i USED TO..." anyway, I'm not at all concerned about it, i'm still within normal range.

I'm getting worried about gaining a ton. My BMI is 26, so that puts me in the "overweight" category. What a bummer. So I really don't want to gain too much weight. I'm eating normally though. I catch myself weighing myself every morning and sometimes at night and I don't want to obsess over it. But it really sucks I can't work out right now at all.

  11. Pirouette

    pomegranate / 3331 posts

@pregnantbee: it will be a group effort - we can all motivate each other!

@agold: have you talked to your doctor about an appropriate weight gain for you? I would try to stop weighing yourself so much and just focus on healthy eating habits, which it sounds like you are doing!

I gained 4 lbs so far and my doc wasn't pleased. I have no idea why though, I was proud of myself! He says if I'm nauseous and not eating much I shouldn't be gaining.. I guess he figures I've been eating lots of fried oily crap again, lol. I'm 5'6 and 152 lbs which is pretty normal but last time I gained 40 lbs which was a bit too much.

@Glitter: That seems ridiculous for him to complain about! I practically fluctuate that much between morning and evening, haha.

@Glitter: I feel like 4 pounds is fine!! I'm sure 2 pounds of it went to your boobs and that's not a food thing - its just genetics and biology!

@agold: Ive been like a 26 my entire adult life, dont worry about it! Just try to fill up on fruits and veggies and water, and try to go on a daily walk. With my first I didnt gain much until the end, overall I gained 30 pounds, and within a month or two I was right back to prebaby weight. Crossing my fingers this happens again!

@pregnantbee: my best friend and I are pregnant together this time. I'm about 6 weeks ahead of her. With our other two they are 6 months apart with each of her girls older.

I've had some pretty epic Charlie horses while pregnant. They are the worst and totally catch you off guard.

We have our anatomy scan tomorrow at 11am. So excited to see the little bugger again. This will be the first time my husband will see him.

@Glitter: I had gained 4 lbs by my 16 week appointment and my dr didn't say one word. I wonder what the big deal is.

I'm pretty sure we are set on a name for this guy. Yay! It was my top name then the husband vetoed it but somehow it came back and now he's sold too. Both of our boys are 3 letter 1 syllable names with a double middle name and we wanted to stick to that trend. So this little guy will more than likely be Wes Oliver Thomas.

@Aandmklover: I love the name! And yay for the anatomy scan tomorrow! I'm amazed how many of you have weekend appts, it seems so rare around here!

@Pirouette: my ob office is really small. She's the only ob. They also have a dr who does gyn (she's actually the dr that delivered my first but stopped doing ob work) and a reproductive specialist in the same office but that's it. They only do ultrasounds Wednesday when they have an outside ultrasound tech come in. Otherwise you can get it done at the hospital out patient testing which is nice because they are open 7 day a week with pretty long hours.

@Aandmklover: Wheeee! Good luck today. And lucky duck getting a weekend appointment. That's so cool. And great name!

I thought that having kids about 4 years apart was kind of rare -- even though that's the gap I always wanted. The cool thing about my local pregnant friends is that each also will have a 4 yo with their newborns! So, double play dates! I'm really excited about that.

@Glitter: 4 lbs is nothing. You're fine. If you have to, fire your dr and find a new one

@MrsSCB: yay! Congratulations!! I have 2 boys with another on the way so I'm a little biased but they are so much fun. And so loving to their mothers.

Ultrasound went good. I have a posterior placenta. I had a student do the ultrasound first then the "seasoned" tech came in and double checked everything. I didn't tell them I knew it was a boy so when they asked about the baby's Sex she asked what I kids I already had at home and when I said 2 boys she made the "eek" face. Lol then I told her we already knew he was a boy and we are excited. So that was funny. My Husband asked about getting results from the ultrasound and she said my dr would give them to me at the next appointment but baby boy was "beautiful" ☺

No photos because they are on a disk and I'm
Mostly on my phone but I'll get one on soon.

@Aandmklover: Congratulations! Wow, funny reaction from them. I don't know why other people seem so hung up about having "one of each." When I've told people that I'm having a girl, they ask what the other is, and when I say "boy," they say, "phew. good! perfect!" Like I wouldn't want or love another boy? Or like I had any control over what I'm having??

@MrsSCB: @Aandmklover: Congratulations on your baby boys!!! 💙💙💙 So so excited for both of you!!! And also so happy that your u/s went well!

@pregnantbee: Me neither! I would have absolutely loved having another girl. We're excited to have a boy, but we considered it a win-win no matter what!

@Glitter: 4 pounds is a bacon cheeseburger and fries. Or a big burrito. Sounds to me like you're doing brilliantly in the weight gain department!

  31. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@pwnstar: Have you also been getting a lot of, "perfect, one of each!" responses? So silly.

  32. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@ShootingStar: @pregnantbee: @Pirouette: @Aandmklover: @pwnstar: thank you! It feels so much more real now to be able to say "him" instead of "it" or "they" haha. I was worried at first because he wasn't in a good position and the cord was right between his legs. But the tech was great and had me rock back and forth from my back to my side and massage my belly and then it became pretty obvious that he's a boy

@MrsSCB: Wonderful! Boys are so much fun.

@Aandmklover: Glad you had a great ultrasound and that your sweet baby boy is doing good.

@pregnantbee: I actually get why people have that reaction - it's because most people that have one gender typically want the other gender when having a second. Everyone I know has! QEspecially in today's world where most people are done with two. I don't mind the "oh that's so exciting to have one of each" comments and don't think it's silly at all because most people ARE excited to have one of each! I was, and I will admit would have been a bit disappointed to have a second boy if I were going to be done with two. And not because boys aren't awesome - just because it wasn't what I had pictured in my head and I think it's okay to mourn the loss of a dream. (I do, however, think that comments about having to have a third if you have two of the same gender are just absurd - big nope to those comments!)

It's actually interesting being pregnant again and having absolutely no ideal gender in the back of my mind - absolutely none! When people ask me what I'm hoping for I feel at a loss which is fun because the ultrasound will be so fun either way! Both of the kids insist baby is a girl though so I think they may have some initial gender disappointment if we are team blue! Either way, I will be surprised if this is our last baby so I'm just curious to see what this little one turns out to be!

I suddenly feel like baby girl grew overnight! I woke up this morning with solid lower bump....and then she must have moved b/c it went away. All day now, I feel like the bump is more baby than bloat. And I'm not gonna share how many times I've been to the bathroom today. It's ridiculous. I still don't feel actual fluttering or movement, but I'm excited for the anatomy scan next week when I can watch the screen for movement and see if I feel anything at those times.

  35. pregnantbee

    grapefruit / 4717 posts

@coopsmama: That reasoning totally makes sense. I never had a dream of having one of each.....I just wanted 2 healthy babies. Brothers would have been awesome. So would sisters. So would one of each. Can't wait to find out what you're having. I'm sure the kids will come around if it's a boy

So here's my baby bump! I started to notice it during week 14. I consider myself 16 weeks as of yesterday even though my new due date has me a couple of days behind. No one notices it yet except me and my husband.
