@Umberto: Oh... I have always wanted to go to Tasmania. There is an amazing looking hotel that I used to be obsessed with over there but I can't for the life of me remember what it was. Have you ever thought about doing a sightseeing flight over Antarctica?? I heard that Qantas offers them.

  4. AprilFool

@Umberto: Brisbane. I would love to go to Tasmania.

@agold: Ugh I would love to do something like that someday if I had plenty of money. My MIL did a cruise in Antarctica and the photos were amazing.
@AprilFool: I'm embarrassed to admit I seem to be one of the only people in Aus who hasn't been to Qld! I'd love to go up to Port Douglas sometime.

@Umberto: Haha *I'VE* been to Port Douglas!! I live in Boston but spent 6 months in Aus when I was in college. We were studying in Qld so I spent a week in the Daintree and a month in Cape Trib (yes a month), a little time in Brisbane, and most of the time in Cairns (it was an ecology program). Traveled to Sydney and Melbourne and other random places after. Never got to Hobart though

@mrsscb: So glad your announcement went well. That has got to be a huge weight off your shoulders! And don't try to read too much into what you think she was thinking . . . I am the absolute worst for letting my internal conspiracy committee convince me that the sky is falling and all that rubbish way too often.

@pwnstar: Thank you you are totally right. I'm also terrible at hiding how nervous I am, but I'm sure anyone would understand why! I'm just glad it's over.

We also booked our babymoon last night! We're going to San Diego for three nights in mid-April and staying in Coronado. I am SO excited! We splurged and rented a convertible, because my husband said we should get a non-sensible car for our last trip before baby comes

If any of our California ladies knows of good restaurants or sights in San Diego and surrounding areas, I'm all ears!

@MrsSCB: Thank you! Phew! Sounds like telling your new boss went well. I'm happy for you and hope that your new boss carries through with any promises made.

@MrsBeluga: OMG, 17 days late??? I understand why they wouldn't want to induce earlier than 2w late, but a 60 hour labor??? Yikes! I certainly hope baby comes more on time this time!

@dcw6411: Hooray, what a beautiful baby! I'm so glad your scan went well today. I'm sorry that you're still bleeding, but that's great news it hasn't gotten any bigger. I love raising a boy!

Current cravings/aversions: still craving salt! buttered popcorn, bagels.

Upcoming appointments: tues is my first anatomy scan!

What are you most looking forward to? consistent movement. I'm totally disappointed that I have an anterior placenta, I'm so impatient for kicks, and so is my husband! I suspect he won't feel anything for a while

Adding one more bonus question: Any fun trips planned for before baby comes? NOPE! but added this question so i can live vicariously

@MrsSCB: Hooray for a babymoon! That's so great!

San Diego is so much fun! You have to go to Parkhouse Eatery for brunch -- even just the bread and jam are delicious. Their brunch is truly one of the best I've ever had. You may also love Extradordinary Desserts -- crazy decadent desserts. That's all they do. Also loved eating at Prado Restaurant in Balboa Park.

Team Green, Girl, Boy? and also can't believe it!

    First child? Nope

If not, tell us about your other children. How old? Girl/Boy? Boy, 3.5 yrs old (4y1mo when baby arrives)

Where do you live? (As specific or general as you'd like): Northern California

Are you a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, other? Part-time? Full-time?
    FT WOHM

Current symptoms: Hip pain! It especially happens when I'm in bed on my back. It was fairly excruciating to be on the table for my anatomy scan yesterday. Gagging when brushing teeth. Tired. Otherwise, good.

Current cravings/aversions: Craving bagels and lox, sweets. Still can't touch salad or raw protein.

    Upcoming appointments: 3/25 OB checkup

What are you most looking forward to? Feeling movement. I found out yesterday that I have an anterior placenta. No wonder I still can't feel anything. Hopefully soon.

Any fun trips planned for before baby comes? We have a 3-family trip planned at the end of the month that's not really a babymoon of any kind. We may get to go away for a night in May, but not sure yet.

    EDD: August 24th

Team Green, Girl, Boy? Woo hoo!

    First child? Yes.

Where do you live? Southern California

Are you a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, other? Part-time? Full-time? WOHM Full Time. Going to be tough!

Current symptoms: Huge boobs, achy right hip, lethargic, weird dark line on my top lip. (I'd almost trade all of those random symptoms for some nausea.)

Current cravings/aversions: No cravings. Lots of random aversions.

Upcoming appointments: Tomorrow. Regular OB check. Praying to hear a heartbeat!

What are you most looking forward to? Experiencing parenthood with my husband.

Any fun trips planned before baby comes? If OB okays travel, we may go to Kauai. If no travel allowed (damn non-stop bleeding), then two close-to-home weekend tips (options include San Diego, Monarch Beach, Rancho Palos Verdes, Santa Barbara and Scottsdale).

@MrsSCB: San Diego is great! And Coronado is amazing. Are you staying at the Hotel Del? Even if you aren't, you should grab a brunch or dinner there and walk around the hotel a bit and take some pictures. Its classic. If you or your husband like speakeasys, down town has quite a few within walking distance of each other. (You can get fun mocktails.) I can tell you which ones I like if you are interested. There is a concert venue called Humphrey's By The Bay. Its a little outdoor venue that is literally by the bay. Look it up and see if there's a concert happening that you like! Its so much fun and worth a few hours in the evening. Will you be there during baseball season? The Padres stadium is really fun and nice. And it gets such good shade in most of the seats so you don't have to worry about getting too hot. And if you have a convertible, it might be really fun to drive up the coast a tad and see some of the other beach cities.

  24. MrsSCB

    pomelo / 5257 posts

@pregnantbee: Thanks, I will be looking into all of those! I've heard Balboa Park is lovely. Also, decadent desserts sounds right up our alley

@agold: we decided the Hotel Del was a bit too pricey, but we are staying directly across the street from it in a hotel that's in an old mansion. I think we're already planning to rent some beach chairs at the Hotel Del beach (which you can apparently do for just the day). I'd love speakeasy recommendations -- I've found that places that have good cocktails can typically also make a tasty mocktail I'm going to look into concerts as well, that sounds lovely.

Thanks very much for the recommendations, I'm really looking forward to the trip!

    First child? Yes

Where do you live? (As specific or general as you'd like) Houston

Are you a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, other? Part-time? Full-time? Work full time and plan to continue (was actually just talking to HR about maternity leave a few minutes ago, haha)

Current symptoms: Nothing too crazy -- a bit of RLP. I do think I'm finally getting a (tiny) belly, which is fun! Haven't felt movement yet, but I can tell when he's moving by which side of my belly sticks out more. He seems to prefer chilling on the right side so far!

Current cravings/aversions: Give me all the cake!

Upcoming appointments: anatomy scan on 3/29

What are you most looking forward to? Everything! But I really can't wait to see my husband with our son. He is so excited to be a dad, and it makes me so happy.

Any fun trips planned before baby comes? Indianapolis in March to see my husband's extended family, San Diego in April, and going to my cousin's college graduation in May (I'll be doing that one solo). Lots of traveling, hopefully I don't get too exhausted!

@MrsSCB: OH, and I just realized I only talked about food. Can you figure out my first love?? Balboa Park is wonderful. You can visit the zoo if you want, but there are also tons of museums and a beautiful botanical garden/building. It's also fun to go over to La Jolla and eat lunch with a view of the ocean and also visit the sea lions

    Girl!

    First child?
No, I have a 2 year old boy. He'll be 2.75 when the baby arrives.

Where do you live? (As specific or general as you'd like)
    NW of Boston

Are you a SAHM, WAHM, WOHM, other? Part-time? Full-time?
I work full time. 1 day will be WAH, the rest are WOH.

    Current symptoms:
I still have some lingering nausea when I don't eat, and I feel like I'm growing everywhere!

    Current cravings/aversions:
Nothing specific. Occasionally I'll come across a food that will really turn me off though. Like, chicken breasts that are too thick (random, I know).

    Upcoming appointments:
    Anatomy scan on 4/4

What are you most looking forward to?
I'm so excited for a girl. I love that I'll get to pick out little pink outfits, and girl shoes, and hair bows. I also can't wait for our family to be finished, and to see DS with DD.

Any fun trips planned before baby comes?
We already went to FL and had a mini babymoon (my parents watched DS one night while we stayed in a fancy hotel and got massages). We also have a trip to the Cape planned for June. Usually we go in September but obviously had to move it, so I hope the beaches are warm enough. I love the bay side beaches because they're usually super warm and calm, especially at low tide.

@ShootingStar: Too thick chicken breasts. Ugh. Gross. Definitely one of my food aversions. And please tell me... when you are going to be working one day at home, will you have the kids home with you, too?

@agold: Oh, definitely no kids at home. DS goes to daycare right around the corner from our house. The point of me working from home is actually so I can put in more hours since I won't have to commute. It'll also be nice to be able to do a load of laundry or start dinner early.

@pregnantbee: Haha! We're living mirror lives

@agold:, @pregnantbee: OMG, so funny that other people don't like too thick chicken breasts! I thought it was only me. And I had to explain to DH that we had to buy more chicken at the store instead of using what was in the freezer because the stuff we had grossed me out, lol.
