@mossyslane: I saw that! going to give them a try and I'll report back
@pwnstar: also can't wait to feel movement--I thought I felt it maybe two or three times, but haven't had anything for a week and am slightly on edge waiting for it--it's like waiting for water to boil. everyone IRL keeps telling me that's how it is in the beginning, but I'm so impatient!

@pregnantbee: @Glitter: I spent a while on etsy yesterday looking for hair bows . I still feel at a loss when I think about the clothes and all the shoes and having to do a kid's hair everyday. DS has the straightest hair that we don't even bother with in the morning.
I got my Solly yesterday! DH was laughing at me wrapping a stuffed elephant and then DS saw it and wanted it of course, even though he's never played with it, lol. It's really pretty, a kind of dusty light rose color. I was expecting more of a babyish pink, but I think this will transition well to fall.

@ClairHuxtable: congratulations on finding out your baby is a baby boy!!
Question - would you girls take family photos when your baby is one month old?
My wedding photographer is offering mini photo sessions for a good price. He has dates listed for April 17 or October 8. I don't really have a cute baby bump right now, and I don't know if I will have one by April 17, so I think its a waste to take photos on that date. But for the October 8 date, my baby girl will be approximately 6.5 weeks old. Is a 30 minute outdoor photo session a good idea at that age?
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@agold: Hmm. The one big question is whether you're doing newborn photos? If so, then 1 month later is really close to that.....
grapefruit / 4045 posts
@pregnantbee: I don't think that I plan to do any fancy newborn session. Newborn pictures that I would want are a little too expensive for me. So I might have one of my girlfriends take newborn pictures (she's new and takes nice pictures, but not great pictures) and just pay her $100 or something. So this photo session I'm contemplating in October would really be a family session and maybe a christmas card. Its $250. Just wondering if 6 weeks is an awkward time for baby and for my post-pregnant body.

@agold: I didn't do formal pics at 6w pp. I think every body is different in that we don't truly know how we will look pp, so it's hard to plan. I'd be prepared to wear something looser and have LO in front of you in the pics Baby will be fine. I think it would be lovely to have formal photos done at 1 month old, especially if you're not having fancy newborn ones done.
I hope others chime in, too

@agold: I agree I think 6w would be a lovely time. When they are newborn, they just kinda lay there so there aren't many creative shots you can take. By 6 weeks baby will be much more alert and actually look like a person.
I would plan to find something that is really comfortable for you. Something you can bend/sit/nurse in while still feeling/looking beautiful.

@pregnantbee: Thank you so much for your thoughts. Basically, I just really like my wedding photographer so I'd like to take pictures with him. Mini session that he's offering is $250. I hate to spend any money on any pictures, but I know we will want some at some point. Thanks for your input!!

@agold: we did an 8 week shoot with my daughter- it was perfect- she was awake, a bit smiley, past newborn acne. I bet 6w would be similar. I'd go for it! As for my body- except for my gigantic nursing boobs, I was back in prepregnancy jeans and clothes. I wore an looser, longer top , but most pics with me I was holding her, so my knickers and residual flab were hidden by baby.

@mrschickpea: Yay! Glad you had a good appt. What beautiful pictures! And maybe it's not ideal schedule-wise, but it's awesome you get to see the baby again in 4w!

A/S great, going back in 4 weeks since baby was head down and couldn't get all the shots of the brain they needed! Included picture of tiny foot

@mrschickpea: Love that picture! So glad you had a great anatomy scan. Isn't it a blast to see them like that? I just love it. Can't wait for my scan - less than a week now.
@agold: It will take, if you're like most women, a good few months to feel back to normal regardless of how quickly the weight falls off or doesn't. It's just one of those things I think. With my first I felt back to normal by 3 months and with my second it took almost a year. So don't let your body and how it feels dictate whether you have pictures -- you will want to remember this time! If you love the photographer, absolutely snatch up that deal. I would do it in a heartbeat. And six weeks is a great age for the baby - they are less sleepy, I think.
@LCTBQE: Hooray for feeling your sweet baby!

So, tell me ladies, is Leann a horrible middle name if this baby turns out to be a girl? I don't love the name BUT my daughter has a mash-up of my husband's and my name (Joelle) as a middle name and Lee is the name of DH's grandpa that just passed and Ann is the name of my grandmother that passed last summer. I wasn't sold on it but then I looked it up and realized it's an Irish Gaelic version of my mom's middle name, Helen. So now I feel like it's meant to be. (We've been trying to incorporate my grandma and his grandpa as middle names for either gender - for a boy it's turning out rather easily but not so much for a girl.) Thoughts? It just feels straight up 80s to me or something.

@mrschickpea: Great ultrasound picture!! Is the ultrasound you are getting in 4 weeks specifically because your babe is heads down at this point? Do you know when the next regular ultrasound is after the anatomy scan, if there are any ultrasounds at all even?
@coopsmama: Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts on the 6 week photoshoot. And I am really excited to find out if you are having a boy or a girl!! You are one of the lasts in this August group to find out, I think.
@coopsmama: My sister's name is Leanne! I think its a great name. But I hear you on the 80s feel to it. I feel that way about almost all names of my friends and such that I grew up with. But I think if it has special meaning to you, then its a great middle name to use.
grapefruit / 4717 posts
@coopsmama: I think it's a good name, too! Especially since it has so so much meaning. It's a little "country" and maybe a little 80s, but also think about how often you will actually USE the middle name on things.
cantaloupe / 6059 posts
@agold: @pregnantbee: That makes me feel better, thanks for the input. I've been brainstorming ways to use their names and that's the only thing I can come up with. Both grandparents were really special people and both died unexpectedly so that's why it's been such a focus for the middle names. I'm hoping it will keep growing on me if it's a girl because I'd like to honor them in this way.

@mrschickpea: Yay for an awesome u/s! Hello gorgeous!
@coopsmama: Another vote in favor of Leann. I think it's lovely.

@coopsmama: Ansley is the other version I could think off (Ann+Lee).
I do like Leann but I prefer a Leanne spelling.
