@coopsmama: At first thought Leann did strike me as a bit old.. But after hearing how it came together I love it! I think you should go with what feels good to you.

I'm going to be brave and post a bump picture. I took it today at my grandmas. I don't have a full length mirror in my house.
Oh and a picture of my peanut.

I noticed a gold Aug 2016 thread. Whats it for? I must have missed the discussion when this thread was started.

@agold: the ultrasound tech wasn't able to get a few of the brain shots they needed since the baby kept moving its head down! My insurance only covers 3 unless medically necessary so since the next one in 4 weeks is a continuation of the anatomy scan, they should cover it. There aren't anymore unless I need a dating scan or something like that in late 3rd tri!

@Glitter: Hi! There's a gold update thread to discuss things we don't want to be searchable later. Embarrassing pregnant lady problems, advice about other things, etc. It's not too exciting, and I'd imagine we'll talk about embarrassing lady problems here anyway. There's also a gold bumps thread for those who don't want to post pictures for the world to see on this thread.

Is anyone else getting a lot of Braxton hicks? I had none with my first pregnancy, but over the past week I've been getting them a lot. Basically whenever I go for my walks, and then this morning I had a really intense one as soon as I woke up, which I'm guessing was due to a full bladder.
They aren't painful or contraction like, but they can be uncomfortable. They go away when I sit down. My uterus felt kind of...weird for a while after the strong one this morning. My belly was rock hard.
I'm going to ask my doc about it on Tuesday. I know they are normal, but it's a new experience for me. Can anyone else share about their experience with them?

@Silva: I may have had one this morning when I woke up. Lower belly was extremely hard. I remember having them constantly with my first, and all was fine.

@Silva: Quite a few times I've felt my lower belly with my hand and its hard. I didn't actually feel anything though and have always assumed its normal, even thought its not consistent. Is a hard lower belly something to be concerned about?

@agold: when I get a Braxton hicks contraction my whole uterus feels rock hard, and I feel a general tightening sensation. Sometimes just parts of my belly feel hard, and I assume that's the baby pushing its back against my uterus or something.

@Silva: I had a ton of BH with my first, and have been getting them already with this pregnancy too. They're just what you describe--uncomfortable, but not painful (and my belly/uterus is rock hard). When I get them, I try to get some water and rest (not so easy at work). Usually it means I need to hydrate and slow down a wee bit. Any more than 4/5 an hour means you should call your OB to let them know the frequency.

@pwnstar: thanks- they have definitely almost exclusively been happening during exercise. I know I over did it the first day it happened, but they stopped once I got home and sat/drank water. I was surprised when it happened during my walk today, because I wasn't pushing the stroller and it was only about a mile in before they started up (and I didn't feel like I was exerting myself). But as soon as I sat down they stopped. I will mention it to the doctor on Tuesday.
It's a little unnerving- especially since I've never had them before!

@Silva: & everyone else re: BH...since its my first, I was thinking that the rock hard belly thing was just gas or baby movement....could it be Braxton hicks? I've been feeling it just about every day, especially in the morning when get up and I roll from my side to my back to sit up. Maybe I should ask the Dr. About this when I see her next.
pear / 1718 posts
@MrsKerch: It's kind of hard to describe (it's in that category of know-it-when-you-feel it kind of thing), but some people don't notice unless/until they are actually touching their belly when it happens. For me, I typically feel my uterus contract, but not always (sometimes I have my hand on my belly (like when I'm standing) and I can feel my uterus tighten with my hand but not my body, if that makes sense). I would definitely mention it to your OB/provider . . . and make sure you stay hydrated (which might help with the morning BH).

@MrsKerch: I never had any during my first pregnancy, but as pwnstar mentioned, it was pretty unmistakable when it happened this time. A full bladder can bring them on, so I often get the first thing in the morning too!
@pwnstar: thanks, I can't wait! I'm nervous! My husband has the day off so we are all going as a family.

@mrschickpea: your bump looks great! I'm still waiting for mine to pop out like that.
@Silva: have fun at your anatomy scan! When i scheduled mine, I was told it was a one hour ultrasound. That sounds amazing.

@T.H.O.U.: Janie and Jack. I don't buy a lot of clothes from there, but I wanted the coming home outfit to be special.
