@coddergirl: I had that with my last pregnancy - definitely not a bad thing as far as food aversions! This time I'm definitely over-sensitive to sweets but I can eat certain sweet things in moderation. But then again very few things actually sound good in general.
pear / 1788 posts
@coddergirl: I ate half a bag of Trader Joes plantain chips yesterday while watching TV laying on the couch while DD napped. I'm all about the salty and spicy right now! Everything else makes me want to puke!

I haven't had any aversions yet. I have wanted things with sour cream though, tacos, baked potatoes.

Thanks everyone for commiserating with me about all day nausea crappiness! 9 weeks today!!!
@revel: I hear you about the pity party! My family and I went away for a couple of days so that did help to take my mind off of things.
@Mrs. Microscope: Haha yes, I keep telling myself hopefully only 3 more weeks of this and then it’ll get better, and I’m not going to think about having to go through this again until I must!
@Mrs. Pickle: Sometimes I think the thought of food is worse than eating the food itself. But I hear you – I just want to not be hungry.
@KNS: I’m sorry ☹ that stinks. I hope that it gets better for both of us!
@Cole: I spent so much time being excited about getting pregnant that I think I didn’t stop to think about how crappy this first tri might actually feel!
@PetitDuck: Thanks! Yes it was awesome to have everything confirmed and official. Plus so cool to have that first ultrasound print-out to carry around I hope your first appointment goes smoothly as well!

@coddergirl: That's too funny - sweet things are easiest for me to deal with these days! I have a major aversion to coffee right now. I've always been an avid coffee drinker (3-4 cups a day throughout the day) and I haven't touched it for over three weeks now. It feels so weird to turn it down but it makes my stomach turn. Also can't stand indian food! Cumin - eeeww!!!

Everything is good! Heartbeat 121! That seems low since my others were higher, but totally good! The tech said the yolk sac makes it look like the baby has a little balloon. ️

@coddergirl: I am not doing well with sweet foods either, although I'm not doing great with many things at the moment...
@Mrs. Blush: I never drank a ton but I can't stand coffee now either, it was so easy to give up!
@Torchwood: Hurray! I'm so glad it went well! I'm sure it was a big relief for you. I keep getting like there are all of these little hurdles to get through before this sinks in and seeing the heartbeat was a big one. Will you do a nipt? I need to call today to schedule that for me.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@coddergirl: I can eat sweets (really taking pills is the only thing causing me major issues right now), but they always give me bad heartburn when I'm pregnant. Bleh.
@Cole: Yes! The heartbeat is such a big milestone. Now I have to get past 9.5 weeks, when my first pregnancy miscarried. Of course, I was right about my dates being wrong so I got pushed back a few days, so that much longer till then. And yes, definitely doing nipt. I just emailed the midwife asking if they can put that in or if I have to meet with the genetics counselor again.
For whoever is doing the list, new due date is August 21! Two days before DH's bday

@Torchwood: I'm so happy for you!!! Also the u/s photo made me smile. Baby does look like a little, happy balloon!!
You guys ... the nausea is real. I am miserable. I made it 9w1d without puking - today was the day. Food aversions are horrible too. I am ready for this 1st trimester to be OVER!!! We did bump photos last time (officially starting around 15 weeks). Here's my 1st and last (which is 39 weeks + 1 day). It'll be a miracle if we can manage to do it each week this time (with a 3 year old).
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@Torchwood: at my ultrasound the doctor made a point of looking around to make sure he"didn't miss anything" I went from thrilled there was a baby there to temporary panic at the idea of twins!
@littlejoy: those photos are adorable! Morning sickness is awful, I'm sorry you threw up today. I hope it tapers off quickly for you, it's brutal.
pomegranate / 3375 posts
@Cole: Panic!! Haha. I was SO HAPPY when I only saw one baby. Twins might have been welcomed the first time around, but not now (with my wild toddler).
I'm excited to see an updated list of due dates and upcoming appointments!
pear / 1788 posts
@Torchwood: heck yeah! Balloon baby!
@littlejoy: beautiful photos! I'm going to try to remember to take some this time, also mulling over if we will do a maternity shoot this time. I didn't really like my photos last time, as I thought I looked fat. We will definitely do newborn photos though!

I posted about this on the main page too but is anyone down weight at this point? I'm down 8.5 pounds at this point. I can't decide how concerned to be. I don't really want to take anything stronger but this sucks.
cherry / 136 posts
@Cole I am down probably about 6 pounds at this point and the same thing happened my last pregnancy too. No one was remotely worried and I think as long as you didn't start out super underweight and the baby is growing on track it is fine. Just do your best to get something down and stay hydrated. Have you tried diceglis? I think it is basically a timed release of things similar to the B6 unisom combo but I have found it makes a big difference for me. I went from throwing up daily to now being able to eat a bit during the day and only throwing up about every three days. Also when I went in last week my doc was utterly unconcerned and was almost happy I was so sick because she said that usually means that everything is good.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Cole: I'm not, but I know for sure it's not considered a concern as long as you're able to stay hydrated, and hopefully get a little nutrition. Baby just doesn't need much yet. But I'm so sorry you feel so bad!
grapefruit / 4649 posts
@KNS: I'll see if I can get the diclegis, our insurance is a super pain so I'm not counting on getting it which is why I haven't tried yet.
@Torchwood: I'm in that gray zone for dehydration, I am probably getting about 25-30 oz a day so not quite with but enough to keep me from needing to go to the er. You're definitely right about baby but needing much, it is part of the miracle of pregnancy. I was way sicker last time and she came out perfectly at a normal weight.
cherry / 136 posts
@cole my insurance doesn't cover it but my ob gave me some samples and I just ordered through foundation pharmacy which comes to a dollar per pill which is still not cheap but since it seems to be working pretty well for me it is worth it to at least be able to somewhat function.

I don't know if it's already been discussed but has anyone given any thought to finding out the sex? We were team green with our first, but with everything wound up finding out, and then found out with dd. I was thinking it might be fun this time but DH is super against it and I don't feel strongly enough to fight it so we'll find out with the nipt.
If we have a boy I'm so glad we had a girl first. I feel strongly about offering options that are both girly and boyish for both genders, but my family does NOT approve of boys having girl things so they would never buy them. This way if we have a boy he at least has all of his sister's stuff to choose from, since we won't be buying as much for a second kid ourselves!
pear / 1788 posts
@Torchwood: I can't wait to find out! I want another girl. I know I'll have gender disappointment if it's a boy. Though I know it will be gone after the birth. We will see!
pear / 1648 posts
@Cole: I'm sorry you're feeling so awful! I hope it lets up soon and you can get some relief
@Torchwood: We're planning to find out with NIPT as well - my blood draw is 1/17! I kind of feel like I'm having a boy but also feel like another girl would be kind of easier. I'm also against DD having only super girly stuff but we do still have tons of girly clothes in the smaller sizes that I'd like to get more use out of. I'd still be very happy with a boy, though.
pear / 1648 posts
@Torchwood: I missed a lot today! Congrats on the US - our bean's HR was 122 at 7w1d so I've been slightly paranoid as well, but I think I'm over it now. We'll see - should hear HB again at 10.5 weeks...
I'll try to update the list tomorrow, but my DD was born 8/21!

@MrsBrewer: that's great!!
We are definitely finding out the sex ASAP. DH and I will need several months to find and agree on a name. Plus I want to have a monogrammed coming home outfit for the LO like I did for DD.
pomegranate / 3375 posts
We were team green with LO1 ... but we are leaning towards finding out at our anatomy scan. We loved being TG last time, but this will be our last baby so we figure it would be fun to do it this way this time around. It's a surprise no matter when you find out.
I am totally ok with girl vs. boy. I think DH and I have a slight preference for another girl, but it's just because we have been down that road so it feels less "everything is new!!!". I still have no intuition.
@peachykeen: I have an appt on 1/17. Thank you so much for keeping this list going.

I'd love to know a bit more about you ladies - since we talk every day!!! Please share as much or as little as you'd like!!
My family and I live in Portland, OR ... we are originally from the Midwest, but moved here 5 years ago to be closer to nature. I own my own design studio, which has been such a blessing (the flexibility during these first years of parenting is something I absolutely do not take for granted). In my free time, I love knitting, hiking, camping, traveling, and binge watching shows on Netflix. We're planning to have this baby at home (like we did with LO 1) ... I'm also a vegan, so this is the part where I promise I'm not one of *those* weirdos, haha. DH and I have been married 8 years ... we met on MySpace when we were in college.
I'm excited to get to know you ladies better.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@Mrs. Microscope: That's part of why I'm letting DH talk me out of TG. I really want another girl. We've already had two though, so surely it's asking too much to have another? I think DH would prefer a boy, but only because if they play sports it's more likely he'll be able to coach a boy. Though if they wind up with my athletic ability it'll be a non-issue!
@littlejoy: I'm 31, live in Nashville, TN. I lived here from 13-18 and my family is mostly here, so it feels like home even though I've moved a lot. Though as a former Southern Baptist turned secular humanist, I don't love living in the south at all. I'm a major nerd, primarily Star Wars and Harry Potter but I have a lot of fandoms. The babies we've actually named have all been named after Harry Potter, Firefly, Doctor Who, etc, (and Star Wars, but it was by accident- dd's middle name is Rae but she was born before the movie came out) and this one will probably be something from Battlestar Galactica. (Though for the record we choose them based on them being strong characters that make good role models, not just liking the shows/books/movies.) Um, I love to read and crochet and do craftsy stuff, but baking is sort of my main thing, and I hope to make a go of a small home bakery once the kids are older. I used to be a nanny. We plan to homeschool/unschool, so I'll be a SAHM for the foreseeable future. DH and I will have been married 8 years in May, and have been together since we were 19.

@Torchwood: I'm 31 too! I love that you identify as a humanist!! And, baby names on a theme (especially when the theme is "badass humans") is great.
pomelo / 5607 posts
@littlejoy: I used to be more of a capital A Atheist, but it just seems like that's not what matters. I care about people, not about what they believe. And yeah, I'm still a little disappointed we "wasted" the name River on the baby we lost. Both on Doctor Who and Firefly the Rivers are super badass.
cherry / 163 posts
@littlejoy: good idea! And I hope the nausea cools its heels soon. It really degrades your quality of life!
I'm in the middle of a move to Portland, OR (@littlejoy yay!). My husband and I are moving there to be closer to family, but right now are visiting my family in Europe. I worked up until October of 2016 when I took a break for a few months. I'll be working again after we get settled in Portland. It's been nice to have the whole first trimester basically be 'on vacation' so I don't have to deal with trying to keep a schedule while also feeling badly! I have one cat that I am obsessed with (I am one of those crazy people who is still wondering, what if I don't love my baby as much as my cat?!) My husband and I got married earlier this year - we're both 26. I also love Harry Potter, LOTR, etc Glad to hear there are some other nerds here. I'm an avid reader, and I love to go to the movies, travel, and cook at home. I love the Ottolenghi cookbooks - I mostly cook healthy, vegetarian food with the occasional side of bacon!

@Torchwood: so glad everything went well.
We were team green last time and I think we will probably be this time. It's definitely starting to feel more real now.
@peachykeen: haha, I also have an appointment Thursday.
@littlejoy: I'm in Canada. I used to work in an elementary school, but after my maternity leave ended with my daughter I decided to stay home with her. I currently do home daycare, but only have one other child right now, which is enough for me. I just wanted socialization for my daughter. I'll probably go back to work when we are finished having kids and they are all in school full time.
pear / 1563 posts
@Cole: sorry you're feeling so poorly. I ended up getting the diclegis, even though it was a bit expensive, and I think it is helping more than unisom/b6 was.
@peachykeen: thanks for keeping up the list! So many of us go in on Thursday.
@littlejoy: interesting to hear about everyone's background. I'm 36, live in the Philadelphia area and work a corporate job. In my free time I cook, crossfit and hang with my husband and daughter.
pear / 1648 posts
@littlejoy: Also 31! Just "celebrated" my birthday over the holidays (as much as you can celebrate while sick & pregnant). I've been living in the Atlanta area for the past 8+ years. DH and I met online and married in 2013. I work in public health and have a 2-year-old DD (another August baby!). She was born 3 weeks early due to pre-eclampsia, so they're monitoring me to try to avoid that this time. DH and I both play the piano - I love when he plays for DD to sing, it's so sweet. She loves to sing and knows way more songs than I probably did at age 2! I usually like to cook and bake a lot, but that's kind of fallen to the wayside lately, for obvious reasons.

@peachykeen: my hubby and me met online and got married 2014.
The receptionist at the midwife booked my appointment a few weeks ago and I have the same midwife as last time (which I don't really care about because she was okay) but she said she is away for the whole month of July. However, the receptionist said "since you went two weeks late last time I thought it wouldn't matter". Haha. They did ask me if it was okay that she was going to be away. I'd be shocked if I even went into labor on my own since I was induced last time anyway.

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with gender preference!
I'm 34, in Denver Colorado. DH and I have our 5 year anniversary in just a few weeks. We also met on MySpace 10 years ago! We met in Arizona, but I'm from the Seattle area (and went to Oregon State University for undergrad). I am a SAHM who also runs a Microbiology consulting business and lab for breweries. I'm am also a big nerd when it comes to Harry Potter, Doctor Who, Star Wars, and several others. I love reading, snowboarding (not this year!), cooking and hiking. DD goes to a cooperative preschool that we love and are excited to be a part of with the next baby too. We are living in a 2 bedroom condo near downtown and building a dream home that probably won't be ready until next January, so the first few months will be tight.

We were TG last time, and I'm planning on staying TG this time too! DH doesn't really care either way, so he'll just go along with what I want. Actually, once our son was born, I had to ask what the baby was!
I live in upstate/Western NY. DH and I are highschool sweethearts that were married in 2010. We are both 28. Our son is 3 (I was induced at 37 weeks due to preeclampsia and had high blood pressure for majority of the pregnancy), and we have a lab/pitbull mix who is 9. I have a master's degree, but am currently in a civil service job as a secretary at an elementary school. We are super involved in our church, my FIL is the pastor and DH just did all of the renovations in a building we just bought for the nursery school (where our son goes) and the church. We have been living with my ILs in a duplex style house since we've been married. It's not the worst thing in the world (everything is totally separate), but we don't have a ton of space. And I love Disney

We will definitely find out gender. I'm interested in the NIPT testing, but not sure if my doctor will go for it since I have no risk factors. We haven't talked about it yet.
I'm 31 also & live on the central CA coast. We moved to the coast 18 months ago from the valley & absolutely love everything living on the beach means! My husband & I met in grad school and have been married almost 7 years. I'm a speech pathologist working in early intervention so I'm with birth-3 all day long & then again with my 2 when I come home! I also love reading, crafting & baking.

So, I am going to quietly slip in here . . .
First, congrats to everyone! I'm so excited for each of you and have been silently cheering you on while I stalked this thread for the last few weeks.
Location: Texas
EDD: August 17
First child? Ummm....no. This will be Numero 4, officially making me the crazy lady with all the kids.
Any symptoms? Lots of nausea, but I've only thrown up a few times, which makes me feel like it won't be twins this time! I had really awful cramping the first two weeks, but that has subsided. Oh, yeah, and I look like I'm 5 months pregnant. Super.
Who have you told? Pretty much no one. Telling people always feels kind of awkward to me anyway, but this time I have a lot of anxiety about it. I just worry that no one will really be excited since it's our fourth kid. DH knows, of course, and I've told two friends that don't live locally. That's it for a while.
Current thoughts/feelings/fears? This is definitely our last one, so it's weird this time. On one hand, I'm so excited to to have one more baby...love that stage so much. On the other hand, I'm really starting to feel ready to be done with this stage and move to the next. It's kind of a bittersweet feeling to know this will be the end of the baby-having stage for us.
I'm jealous of all of you with appointments. My first u/s and first appt are Jan. 25., so I'll be 10.5 weeks by then. We had u/s at 8 weeks with our other two pregnancies, so it seems like I'm waiting forever this time to make sure everything is okay.
