@mrs.someone and @stratosphere: glad to hear your appts went well!

I had my appt today and it was good. We got to hear the heartbeat and the doctor said it was strong. What is an NT scan? I haven't heard anything about it and my next appointment is in 4 weeks on Feb 8. I'll be about 14 and a half weeks pregnant them. I have no idea what they'll do at that appointment. I'm a little disappointed that I won't be having an appointment closer to 12 weeks so that I can feel confident once we start telling people. I have a feeling it's going to be a looooong 4 weeks!

    Enjoy your weekends ladies!

@Apples4Teacher: Glad to hear your appointment went well! The NT scan is part of screening for Down's (2 blood test are also done). I was told its done from 11-13 weeks or so. If you really want it, you can probably ask your doctor for it?

  7. stratosphere

@Apples4Teacher: thanks! Glad yours went well too! A NT scan is a nuchal translucency scan, which is used as part of a screening for Downs, I think. I'm 35 and DH is 42 so have decided to get CVS so won't be doing the NT scan so I don't know a ton about it.

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@stratosphere: Since you are over 35, have you been offered the Panorama scan? Its only a blood test, so there are no associated risks. You can only get it if you're 35+ or have risk factors.

How do you deal with a cold while pregnant? I have come down with a nasty cold and on top of morning sickness this is doubly awful! The post nasal drip is making me gag all the time!!

Do colds while you're pregnant last longer? (Due to immune system suppression?)

So much for my weekend to-do list! Looks like I've got a date with my bed...hoping lots of rest will help me through it faster. Would love any tips you guys have!

@Mrs.Someone: no - my doc hasn't mentioned that. I will look into that and ask her about it - thanks!

@stratosphere: yes colds can be worse while pregnant because you are already producing extra blood and mucus.

@stratosphere: I've had a cold for the last week and a half, it sucks! Not much you can do besides rest and drink oj. The doc said it will last longer because our immune systems are compromised hope you feel better soon!

@Apples4Teacher: glad your appt went well!

@stratosphere: ugh, sorry you have a cold. It sucks because our immune systems aren't as good during pregnancy. I remember I got numerous colds while pregnant with DS. Even got sick in the middle of summer.

I've been feeling like crap. I've thrown up once a day almost everyday this week. 9 weeks today! I'm hoping my morning sickness peaks in the next week and starts getting better. I want to feel normal again! If I remember correctly our hormones peak around 10 weeks? And level out after that. So hopefully that means relief for me soon.

@mrskc: Sorry you're still having a rough time The NP I saw yesterday said that it shouldn't get any worse than it is right now, and hopefully should start to get better. Happy 9 weeks!

@mrskc: thanks! Sorry you're not feeling well! I started to feel better once I hit the 10 week mark...hopefully you will too!

A little rant: my pants are not fitting me and it is not bc of a baby "bump" I don't think. I carry my weight in my stomach area and while I wasn't a small person before I got pregnant (I wore size 12s) my "big" size 14s aren't fitting comfortably either anymore I don't look cute and pregnant just fat, lumpy and bloated :(...I feel weird that I bought a pair of maternity pants already today. I don't like the look of my belly band with my pants unbuttoned...just looks lumpy. Anyone else with me on this??

Rant over. I am super excited to be pregnant and hate feeling ungrateful but I am just sad with the way I am looking these days!!

Have a good week everyone and good luck to everyone with appointments this week!

@Apples4Teacher: I haven't bought them yet but I have my eye on a few pairs. I carry my weight in the middle too and it is getting difficult to zip up my pants without creating a muffin top I have been trying really hard not to be overly critical of myself these days but it is hard not to! I can't wait til I can dress the bump (instead of camouflaging the pudge).

@stratosphere: hugs I am right there with you! I have had a nasty bug for a week.. I can't stop coughing up phlegm, my nose keeps dripping, I can't breathe, hot one second and cold the next. Thank God DH is off today and I was able to sleep in while he watched LO. And LO took a epic 2.5 hr nap today so I did as well!

    Hope you feel better soon!

@Apples4Teacher: I have already busted out my belly band and wore maternity jeans! Woot!

@Apples4Teacher: I am having the same problem. I haven't bought anything yet, but I am about to take the plunge on a few pairs of maternity pants. You might want to check out this thread I posted yesterday: http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/early-pregnancy-demi-or-full-panel

@Apples4Teacher: yes! i'm definitely going through the same thing right now.

i'm living in yoga pants right now because i refuse to pull out my maternity pants (from lo #1) until after my first appointment tomorrow. not because i feel like i would jinx anything, just because i would feel so sad having to put them back up if things don't go well.

Has anyone been told they are a cystic fibrosis carrier?

Part of the 1st trimester blood work apparently includes a test for this genetic marker. I got a call on Friday that took me quite off guard. Apparently I am a carrier and have the mutated gene that I could have passed down to baby. Of course I spent much of the weekend reading, but trying to avoid Google and all the doom-and-gloom info. Our next step is to have DH tested to see if he is also a carrier. If he is not, then we should be fine, but if he is, it could mean serious stuff for baby. On top of being hormonal and emotional already, it was an exhausting weekend to say the least.

I hope this is the worst of it, but with the NT screening, and other serious tests coming up it's hard not to get nervous and scared.

Has anyone else gone through something similar? either with cystic fibrosis or with a similar test result?

@MrsT927: Sorry to hear you got these scary results! I don't have any experience myself, but I think the odds are pretty low that both you and your husband are carriers. Did the doctor give you any statistics?

@MrsT927: I'm sorry you got those results. I hope that DH is not a carrier and that baby is fine. Try to relax and stay calm until you hear your results, though I know that is easier said than done!

I had to call in sick today - i am having a rough time with this pregnancy! The morning sickness is pretty severe, i'm not throwing up but i'm nauseous 24/7 and no food really appeals to me. I hope this passes soon!

@MrsT927: Lurking here from September. I found out that I was a carrier during my first pregnancy this fall. It took me by surprise as well since I did not know any family member with it. My husband tested negative. I hope yours does as well.

I'm hoping this is just a scare and nothing more serious. I was at work today and felt fine. Went to use the restroom after lunch and saw a gush of bright red blood on my panty liner. I literally gasped and to say I freaked out is an understatement. My RE is able to see me tomorrow to see what's going on. In the meantime, they advised that I go home early if I could, and rest. I am still seeing droplets of blood in the toilet and my uterus area feels not-normal but I'm not having cramps. I posted in another board already... Any one have something like this happen and then go on to have a healthy pregnancy? For reference, I'm 7w3d with twins from a FET cycle and recently switched to the vaginal progesterone inserts.

@msmug: do you think it could be the suppositories irritating your cervix? I've heard of that before. Either way, I hope it's nothing serious!

  34. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@msmug: this is my 2nd pregnancy and both of them involved spotting and bleeding. during my first, i had a gush and a clot. i'm not sure what exactly caused it, but i have a friable cervix and cervical polyp. basically i'm just prone to bleeding during pregnancy. everything turned out okay for my 1st and so far for my 2nd. it kind of sounds like the suppositories might just be irritating your cervix. hopefully its nothing and glad you're getting checked tomorrow!

@MrsT927: sorry to hear about your results, hoping your dh tests negative!

@mrs. 64: @jmarionsmith: hope you two have great appts tomorrow!!

    nectarine / 2936 posts

@msmug: I was also thinking it could be from the progesterone inserts. I haven't experienced bleeding, but I know that sometimes people do. I posted a thread about progesterone a few weeks ago and I know at least one person had bleeding and had to switch to PIO. I hope you got some rest and that you get some good answers from the RE today. Thinking of you!

This might have been mentioned already, but is anyone thinking of getting a fetal doppler? I just purchased the sonoline B and hope i can find the heartbeat in the next week or two!

@MrsT927: I hope your DH is not a carrier. Please keep us updated.

@msmug: Oh no! I really hope it's just the progesterone irritating you or something equally benign.
