@BakerBee: last time i gained really fast in my first trimester. i kind of count calories now (loosely), and i try not to eat after 7pm. bc usually after 7pm its just junkfood that i'm eating if you're nauseous tho i wouldn't stop eating. the weight gain will start to slow down. it could just be water weight too!

We are creeping along slowly! How is everyone feeling? Is someone going to start a bump thread soon?

I am so tired of being sick and coughing all day long. I feel like I'm not giving this baby its best chance at the start of life by being so sick. It's so incredibly frustrating and annoying.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@locavore_mama: Aww I'm sorry to hear you are still sick. Did you find any remedy to help it at all?
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@T.H.O.U.: not really. My Dr Ok'd Delsym but that didn't help much last night. We also had a humidifier with eucalyptus oil going. Finally that plus Vicks on my feet gave me a few hours of uninterrupted sleep.

@locavore_mama: My LO has been up with a cough so I am exhausted too. This weather is not helping!

OK. My office are a bunch of open spaces separated by demising walls with just a opening. In the space next to mine there was a water main break last week. They are working in there this week.
Today they are plastering & painting and it REEKS. I have been feeling like throwing up for the past 30 minutes because of the stench. Ugh.
@T.H.O.U.: aw poor baby! I hope she feels better ASAP!

Okay guys, reassure me that I am just crazy.
For the last few days I haven't felt as sick as I did last week. I'm still definitely feeling sick, but I'd say it's gotten a bit better? Either that or I am just coping with it better. Also my boobs are still killing me and yesterday I literally fell asleep after dinner and didn't wake up until 7:00am this morning.
My paranoid self is worried my "better" MS is a bad sign. I haven't had any spotting or any other reason to be worried.
Please tell me I am stupid for being worried.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@pui: Its totally normal for a) symptoms to come and go and b) to start to feel better the further along you get. Don't worry! When do you go back?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@pui: The nurse I saw last week said that we're now at the point where MS should be getting better. So I think thats all it is, nothing to worry about!
@T.H.O.U.: How are you doing today? I saw you went in yesterday?
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Mrs.Someone: Yea I went in yesterday for some bleeding but everything looks good. I am having bad cramping today.
bananas / 9899 posts
@T.H.O.U.: I have another doctor's appointment on the 27th. I think they're just going to weight me and such? I'm not supposed to have another ultrasound until 20 weeks... I really would like one at 12 if I can convince someone to let me lol.
bananas / 9899 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I guess I shouldn't compare to my SIL... she was super sick until 11 weeks or so. I know we're all different, I'm just paranoid.
pomelo / 5228 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Glad things are looking good! Did you call about the cramping?
@pui: Maybe ask for the NT scan? Its supposed to be between 11-13 weeks.
bananas / 9899 posts
@Mrs.Someone: I think I will ask about it at my next appointment. I think some tests are covered, so I'll figure it out!

@pui: My sickness has also let up a bit recently. It always appears at least once or twice during the day, but overall is getting a lot better.
Hang in there! For many people morning sickness lessens and may even go away. Try to enjoy the moments when you are feeling better!

Popping in to say hi to all of the beautiful Mamas in my second favorite month thread! Hope you all are well and that the morning sickness is treating you kindly

I'm over here procrastinating, so I happened to click on the August '14 "birth club" over at BabyCenter. Wow. Just wow. I don't get why women feel the need to be that catty. Glad we have our mature bubble over here at HB
@LovelyPlum: Thanks friend

@pui: I'm also feeling a lot better. It started about a week and a half ago. The fatigue and nausea are more or less gone and I feel like my old self again.
Is anyone having a hard time already dealing with moms or MILs? My mom has always stressed me out, its just differences in our personalities I think, nothing super terrible. But lately its making me more stressed. For example, she kept suggesting that something was seriously wrong with me because I was tired and nauseous all the time and she never experienced either. I try to tell her its common and just because it didn't happen to her doesn't mean something is wrong with me. She also doesn't seem to understand new safety concerns and the changes in cribs, etc. And now she's talking about taking time off work to be with me all day when the baby comes. She lives 5 min away, so she could be there sometimes, but I don't think I could handle her there ALL DAY. I know its sweet of her to think of it, but I just don't think it would be good for us...

@pui: I'm 9w4d and haven't had any MS for 3 whole days now. I'm with you! My DH thinks I'm crazy for worrying about not feeling sick instead of doing <hypothetical> cartwheels because I am feeling better.
I go for my NT screening next week and I know I will feel so much better and reassured after seeing our LO safe and happy in there.

@Mrs.Someone: oh man, I would not want my MIL for a whole month after the baby is born! It's so stressful figuring out taking care of newborn and breastfeeding that I wouldn't want to entertain guests. My mom I would be ok with, but not my MIL.
@BakerBee: If you're feeling sick, then I would try to not worry about your weight gain. Just eat what you can. Try and make healthy choices, but don't stress about it. Sometimes there's nothing we can do and our bodies will do what they gotta do to grow a human.
@stratosphere: OMG! I would have flipped out too! Glad he took it down right away!
@mrs. 64: glad your appt went well!!!
@locavore_mama: I'm sorry you're feeling so sick! Hope you feel better soon!
@pui: It's pretty normal for symptoms to come and go. I've had a day or a string of a couple of days where my morning sickness doesn't seem too bad and then it gets worse again! Either you're already getting past m/s (in which case I'm jealous) or you'll start feeling it again soon!
@T.H.O.U.: I can start a bump thread!
I'm jealous of you ladies morning sickness that is going away already! I'm 9w4d and it seems to have gotten worse the last few days! I vomited 3 times yesterday! ugh! I need relief sooooo bad.

@jennypenny: I know exactly what you mean about stressful mothers! My mom is now telling me that the more nauseous and sick you are, the healthier your baby will be.. and she's implying that my babies wont be healthy because I've felt really good so far! And she's told me to cancel All my plans because this is a "dangerous time" and the babies could (literally) fall out if I'm not careful.

Next appointment is my NT scan on jan 23rd. Considering my last appointment I didn't even get a Doppler check I'm excited and nervous to check on bebe.
Everyone is asking already what sex the baby is. Or when I find out. Dear god, I'm only 11wks people, chill the eff out. >_< so annoying.

I've heard rumors that the blood work associated with the NT screening can actually reveal gender. Has anyone else heard this?
pomelo / 5228 posts
@mrskc: I don't think I could handle ANYONE staying with us for a month. But overall, I think his mom would be more of a help because she is more confident in her abilities (and has 2 grandkids already). I told DH last night that I'm worried about this possibility, and he said he doesn't think he has a choice (Of course he does, his parents are reasonable people). I'm going to need to figure this out before they make real plans!
@MrsT927: I think what you've heard is about the "nub theory". During the NT scan, there is a nub that people think can determine gender based on which way its pointing. I wouldn't trust it though
pear / 1974 posts
@pui: oh mine comes and goes just like this, i had one day where i felt really good and i was all worried, then it hit again the next day. try to just enjoy the days where you feel better, trust me, it'll come back, you're fine!
@Mrs.Someone: i go on there to read sometimes on the bus for fun and they are mean! haha i can't remember if it was babycenter or whattoexpect birth forum but there was one thread where this girl who was an illegal immigrant worried about finding proper prenatal care without insurance and the first comment was "ummm get legal?" makes me appreciate HB much, much more!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@MrsT927: Its not the normal NT bloodwork. It is special new genetic bloodwork (Materniti21, etc). You usually have to have a special reason for your doctor to order this special test.
pear / 1974 posts
So.. maybe tmi but is anyone experiencing a lot of discharge? I keep running to the bathroom once a day or so to see if it's blood!
pear / 1616 posts
@Mrs.Someone: i actually read that the nub theory is 75-95% accurate depending on how far along you are. (this is from the internet tho. haha so who really knows). it was accurate for my last one!
@MrsT927: or maybe you're thinking of the maternit21 blood test? that one gives info about chromosomal abnormalities but can also pick up gender!
@JennyPenny: my mil stresses me out. she has boundary issues and also wanted to be over like all the time when LO was born. we said no! she lives really close and wanted to stay over for a week. i said heck no, dh nicely relayed the message.

Had my ultrasound today (forgot to have it added to the list). Everything is great! Got to see and hear the heartbeat (180 bpm) and even got to see baby move around. He said we are measuring exactly where we should be and on the one picture he printed off it even shows the measurement as 5 days ahead! My next Dr. appt is January 24th.

@mrst927: I'm thinking about you and hoping your husband's results come back soon and give you some piece of mind!
@msmug: how stressful and scary! I'm so glad to hear everything looks good!!
@stratosphere: I would be upset too! We have told some people (immediate family at xmas, close friends) and since then three people have found out without us telling them- people we would have liked to tell ourselves....frustrating!
@bakerbee: I totally understand how you feel! I don't know how much I've gained since getting pregnant as I stand backwards on the scale when I get weighed bc I know it is a lot and I don't want to see-haha. I take comfort in that most of what I've heard is that the weight gain will hopefully balance out by the end of the entire pregnancy!
@pui: my doc said I would probably start feeling better around this time so while my symptoms slowly go away I hold on to that thought!!
@chibee: yes- I have been experiencing that- so weird!!
Happy almost Thursday everyone!
bananas / 9899 posts
@chibee: I'm glad you asked because I have totally been having the same thing!
bananas / 9357 posts
@chibee: yes, I definitely have more discharge. I think it's a pretty common pregnancy symptom!
@xInfinity: glad you had a good ultrasound!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@xInfinity: congrats!!
@chibee: yes. Mine seems to be worse with each pregnancy.
pear / 1974 posts
@Apples4Teacher: @pui: @mrskc: @T.H.O.U.: glad i'm not the only one - i seriously am running to the bathroom at LEAST once a day to make sure it's not blood. so when do we all stop being crazy? I'm really looking forward to being out of the first trimester, this is rough, mentally and physically, i'm just so anxious 24/7 about the well being of this baby and its viability and being sick on top of it - i can't wait till i can start feeling better.
bananas / 9899 posts
@chibee: Yeah I think when I hit 13 weeks I'm going to be able to stop being paranoid about it. I've already relaxed a bit since every day that goes by the chances of a m/c goes down. Also the stats @stratosphere shared a few pages back also comforted me. In any case, even though the second trimester is a bit of an arbitrary "safe zone", it'll be a relief when I get there.
pear / 1974 posts
@pui: i think i'll feel so much better after my 2/5 appointment, and that seems like it's a lifetime away. I wanna stop feeling so anxious!!!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@chibee: Agree, my A/S is also on 2/5 and I think I will feel better once we have the results from that and by that point I should be 1 3weeks.
