@sera_87: Congrats on your good scan today!

@mrs. 64: i do this every couple of days! i wake up and i feel great and i'm like wait a minute... and then the next day i feel like crap anyway. yesterday, i wasn't so nauseous - today, only thing i can stomach was soup. ahhh i really cannot wait until the first trimester is over!

SO i couldn't stay away and i gave my doppler another try and i found the heartbeat in under 2 minutes! this time, i recorded it on my phone as a video, and i'm putting it away for a good couple of days. It's driving me insane.

is anyone battling insomnia? i have these super vivid dreams that kind of wake me up in the middle of the night then i can't fall back asleep!! i mean my dreams though, they are crazy.

Anyone else have to get up and pee in the night already? It's so annoying. I wake up once a night to go pee. I try to limit liquids before bed but sometimes I get so thirsty by the end of day. I need to be better about my water intake.

@chibee: Yay! Glad you found the HB today! And yes, I've been having crazy dreams every night! I wake up because I have to pee then have trouble falling back to sleep b/c I'm wide awake thinking about my dream.

@chibee: crazy and vivid dreams were my first symptom of pregnancy and they have not gone away. Some time they are beautiful and I never want to wake up and sometimes they are crazy. Last night I had a dream I left DS home to sleep while I went shopping then I was freaking out that my car wouldn't start and I couldn't get home to him.

@mrskc: I've been waking 2-3 time to pee. Arg!! I drink too much at the end of the night but it's when I want it the most.

My 12 week appointment is the 29 not the 27. but I may also have my NT scan that day too. So plus if we get to see the peanut!!

And for those of you with dopplers, in case you didn't already know, you can use aloe vera gel!

@mrskc: I haven't been up to pee, but I have been up in the middle of the night often due to nausea. It's no fun! I miss my sleep.

@mrskc: yes but not because i have to pee i just wake up a lot in the middle of the night!

@mrskc: Yep, waking up has become a regular occurrence for me unfortunately

Also, some days (like today) all I want to do is sleep all day! Trying to get some work done first though...

Well ladies I hope I'm not jinxing myself but this is the second day in a row where my nausea has been way less and I feel so much better! Here's hoping that my morning sickness is finally going away!

@mrskc: I have been waking up in the early morning to pee and then can't fall back to sleep. Plus I only have an hour or so left to sleep and then I start thinking about how tired I still am and it wastes the little time I do have. Soo frustrating

@chibee: My dreams are amazingly vivid but they don't wake me, needing to pee does. Congrats on finding and recording the heartbeat. I would love to have a recording of our heartbeat!

  15. xInfinity

    cherry / 240 posts

@T.H.O.U.: my appt was quick but great. We found the heartbeat on the doppler, 160 bpm this time.

I have had all of that...waking up to pee and just randomly waking up and not being able to fall back asleep, and crazy, crazy dreams. I had the funniest labour dream ever. Short version: I checked into the hospital and a male nurse took me to the waterslides where I got to slide down and grab treat bags of candy on my way (kind of like a Mario video game collecting coins through the level). Then another nurse showed up and gave him heck because I needed to get to the delivery room because the baby was coming! Meanwhile I had no contractions or anything. Now thats my kind of labour!

@sera_87 @xinfinity congrats on good appointments!

We had our NT scan yesterday and it went well. I was shocked at how much the baby has grown! The ultrasound tech predicted girl (I just did a separate post on that)! We just got a Doppler but haven't tried it out yet. Watching the ultrasound was so amazing, it made me long to have a machine at home!!!

  19. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

Does anyone's ultrasound place let you get video? My sister was able to bring a USB key to her appointment and leave with video of her baby!! I asked our place and they said they don't do it. Boo!

  20. Mrs.Someone

    pomelo / 5228 posts

@pui: I had my first ultrasound at the perionatologist and they gave me a DVD. The OB's office didn't have that technology though. I'm hoping the place I go for the rest of my ultraounds does!

@mrskc: Me too! Still sick, but nothing like before....everytime I speak (type) these words I jinx myself. Hoping you continue to feel better!

@chibee: According to most sources the second trimester begins the beginning of week 14. Others I've seen say the beginning of week 13...thus the confusion! I googled this during my first pregnancy and was surprised by the different answers.

@mrskc: so glad you've been feeling better! I had such a rough week (vomiting twice a day, feeling like I wanted to die 24/7) and I even missed a full day of work Wednesday I realized I had to do something about it. I was super dehydrated. I had my first official prenatal appt (even though I'm 10+ weeks) Thursday and my doctor was concerned about my dehydration too. She gave me Rx for both Zofran and Diclegis, and sent me home with a sample of Diclegis.

Well I spent Thursday night researching Diclegis and decided to take it. It is basically unisom+B6 in a time-release pill. And come yesterday (Friday) I felt soooo much better. No vomiting and only mild intermittent nausea. I ate and drank so much, like making up for lost time! (I have lost 1.5 pounds from my conception weight, and had a pretty low 18.5 BMI even then, so really no room to lose any weight if I want a healthy pregnancy).

I took it again last night and this morning I've had no nausea. Hooray! I think I will take it until the sample runs out in a few days and then stop and see if hitting 11 weeks next week naturally has helped it subside too. But in the meantime, I can't believe how much better I feel thanks to those little pills!!

I was texting my mom yesterday and turns out she took the same thing when she was pregnant with me and most of my sibs (back then it was marketed under the name Bendectin), and we turned out fine. So in addition to the fact that it's one of the rare FDA Pregnancy Class A drugs, that also made me feel better.

    In Canada it's called Diclectin.

Also at my appt this week the doc decided to do a very quick ultrasound and I unexpectedly got to see LO at 10
weeks and everything looked good! Doc said the heartbeat was "nice and fast" and that LO was probably sleeping--with one arm up beside its head just like me! I finally felt a surge of emotion toward this little bean in there--like LO is less abstract to me. I have been so miserable with severe morning sickness I have just been surviving and hadn't before that moment really been thinking about the actual baby growing inside--I'm so thankful I got to see that glimpse.

Next appointment is 1/27 for genetic counseling and 1/29 for CVS testing. I cannot wait to find out LO's sex and confirm that everything is OK chromosomally. The doctor we are using is an expert at this testing and all of my friends have gone to him for their CVS/amnio and they all love him. So I'm not nervous - just excited to see little bean again and give us peace of mind that all is well--and find out the sex!!

@mrskc: I'm already peeing in the night.

@xInfinity: I have been having bad dreams (a lot about work and several scary ones where someone broke in the house, etc). I wish I could have a waterslide dream instead!

@stratosphere: Glad you got to see LO! I hope the meds help!

@kodybear: Forgot to say that my nt scan is Feb. 17.

Last night we went out to dinner for a family member's birthday to a sushi place. Between being pregnant and gluten free, the only things I could eat on the menu were a basic salad and plain white rice. It was sad.

Nausea has been really bad today and I had an all day meeting for work. I felt awful and I'm sure looked pretty green. I was drinking ginger ale out of a travel coffee cup because I haven't told yet. Hoping tomorrow will be better!

Do any other mamas suffer with allergies? Mine have flared up recently and I'm trying not to take any medicine. Any holistic recommendations? Between this and morning sickness/constant headaches I feel like I'm going crazy!

  29. mrs. 64

    nectarine / 2936 posts

@Mrs.Someone: I thought about getting veggie rolls but then I got overly paranoid about cross contamination with raw fish and decided to play it safe. I did end up asking for tamari and thankfully they had some.

@Phxbee: Mine have been bad this weekend. Mine are more congestion than itching/running. I swear by simply saline and things are really bad putting my head over a pot of boiled water with a tea towel and breathing the steam. That is sooo helpful!

Been feeling really, really sick guys. Does anyone else have this thing where they gag all the time but don't actually puke? I swear every time I get up and move or smell something I gag. There is a brief time in the mornings (between 8am and 9:30) where I feel fine, but after that I feel sick, including in to the early morning hours making it hard to sleep.

On a more positive note, I am so happy to be 10 weeks! Double digits, woo!! I'm super excited for my appointment this Wednesday... I hope maybe I'll get to hear the baby's heartbeat!

@pui: this is exactly how i felt from week 5 to 8 - just consistently gagging and feeling sick, i lost 3-4lbs during this time and i hardly was able to eat anything. Thankfully, it started getting better really slowly and now i only have a couple moments during the day when i feel the wave of nausea. It's still not completely gone, but nowhere near how i felt in the weeks before. I missed work and i never got out of bed during the weekends. Unfortunately not much made me feel during that time, so i just got through it, miserably. I'm sorry you're feeling so sick, i totally understand and it is really horrible. I hope you start feeling better soon!
