@swurlygurl: congrats on joining Team Pink!

    @kodybear: I have my a/s coming up on 4/1.

I started feeling movement for real last week (18 weeks) after my prenatal appointment where my doctor showed me where my uterus starts and stops at this point. I realized all the "gas bubbles" I'd been feeling like crazy in that region for about a week must have been baby all along! Now I can totally tell when it's her waking up and exercising. She is mostly asleep while I'm at work during the day and then seems to wake up and dance around like clockwork every day around 5:30, and moves quite a bit off and on until my bedtime.

Can't wait to see her again next week!!!

Going to look at more nursery furniture this weekend; last weekend we picked out our glider--fell in LOVE with the Graham Glider at West Elm. So exciting! (but still need to clear out the TON of stuff in what is currently our office to make way for BABY STUFF!)

Has anyone else started on the nursery yet?

  8. kodybear

    pear / 1616 posts

@stratosphere: updated it! yes, the movements do feel alot like gas bubbles right now! i feel baby mostly at night time when i'm resting or about to sleep. i think i read that they sleep most during your most active times of day (maybe all the walking/bouncing makes them sleepy??) and most active when you're resting. i love it tho since last time i didn't feel movement consistently till about 25 weeks!

i've been kind of browsing nursery stuff. we just need a crib/mattress and dresser and i'm pretty sure i know what we want. but I'm still undecided about moving LO#1 to a big bed before or after baby. mostly because the price of a twin bed (that i like) is more than the cost of just buying another crib. and i can use the headboard/footboard of the crib for a bed later on. so still trying to figure out what to do. we also need to clear out space in that room too.. i feel like time is moving fast tho. we're halfway there! i need to get on it!

@kodybear: Thanks! I go back on April 15th for another scan so will let you know then if we need to change it. But I'd be very surprised if what she saw at 18 weeks wasn't right? Even though she told use she wasn't promising anything until we came back.

So excited for everybody finding out and so impressed by the ones who can hold out and be team green!

@xInfinity: We cloth diaper DD and plan to continue when Baby #2 is born. It's a little extra work, but we have really liked it so far! Let me know if you have any questions about it!

@Mrs. M: Thanks! I'm excited to try it out! Do you use AIOs?
@T.H.O.U.: The cuteness is half the reason I decided to do it I bought BG freetimes to keep it simple for my fiance who has no experience with kids and diapers and I figured that the grandparents would do better too. I got 12 assorted colors and the new Audrey print. Thinking once I see them in person I can decide which colors to buy more of. What do you use?

  17. Mrs. M

    kiwi / 645 posts

@xInfinity: We use BG 4.0's (inserts) and love them. We bought an AIO and it didn't fit our LO as well. We still use it in the rotation and it fits her better now. AIO are definitely easier since there is no stuffing after washing! Currently so thankful we only bought a couple super girly cloth diapers as baby #2 is a boy!

Anyone taking any allergy medicine? I think i read Claritin is a class B drug. But I've have been dealing with 5 straight days of a headache now that I think is due to allergies. I've had nasal congestion, & sneezing. I'm just so tired of the headaches I've been getting this pregnancy. Anyways, thinking about trying some today just to see if it helps at all.

18.5 weeks and felt my first solid flutters tonight!

I'm pretty positive I felt my first real baby kicks. Been sitting in the same spot for the last 30 minutes and feeling the same flutters in the exact same spot.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@mrskc: I have had to be on daily Claritin for both pregnnacies. My OB was much more comfortable with me taking it in the second tri. It's the only things that keep my headaches away. The did say to try to avoid the clatitin -d since it's just extra meds you may not be needing.

Anyone going to any spring/summer weddings? I have 2 weddings coming up at 23 and 26 weeks and I'm trying to figure out what to wear. All of the maternity dresses I've looked at online look cheap or ugly. Any suggestions?

  27. regberadaisy

    GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts

@mrs. 64: I have a family wedding TWO weeks post EDD. Yikes. And it's 2 hours away so that one will be a last minute decision. But I'm almost positive I will be invited to a family baby shower that will likely be in May.

Can you find any empire waisted dresses you like? I really like dresses from ASOS Maternity. But it's in the UK so I'm not sure it'll get here in time for you.

  28. mrs. 64

    nectarine / 2936 posts

@locavore_mama: I've looked at ASOS, but a lot of the dresses look really short to me. Maybe they will be longer on me because I am not a leggy model, but I don't want to be the pregnant lady in the babydoll dress. Have you ordered dresses from them before?

@mrs. 64: fair point! I haven't but I've heard decent things about their maternity wear. And I believe they have free return shipping right?

@T.H.O.U.: I went out and got some claratin and I'm going to take it tonight. I took another allergy medicine this morning but it only lasts 6 hours. Seemed to help since my headache went away.

Hey everyone! Sorry for being pretty absent lately.

Today I am DYING of excitement lol! I know I won't get any sleep tonight... SO excited for my ultrasound tomorrow gah!

I had a doctor's appointment today and everything looks great. The last few days I have started to feel movement, but it's been pretty intermittent. Baby's heart sounds great!

    Two things:

First, I still haven't gained any weight since being pregnant and I am now 19w2d. My doctor doesn't seem at all concerned but I guess I just thought I would have gained some weight by now? I'm definitely showing and I'm sure I am eating enough.

Second, so turns out my blood type is negative and DH's is positive, so I have to get some injection to avoid Rh disease if the baby's blood type is also positive. Anyone have any experience with this?

  32. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@pui: yay! Excited to find out what you're having! I'm Rh neg and DH is positive. It's no big deal. You will get a rhogam shot at like 28 weeks I think? Then another one after you deliver. I'm not sure if the one post delivery depends on your lo's blood type or not. My LO had positive blood like DH so I had to get the shot.

  33. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@mrskc: That's basically how my doctor explained it to me. It doesn't sound like a big deal, I just wanted to hear if anyone else had any experience with this!

  34. T.H.O.U.

    wonderful clementine / 24134 posts

@pui: Congrats! I think its just good that they have determined this so you should be set to handle it with the simple injections.

I can't wait to hear what you're having tomorrow!

Also, I wouldn't be worried about weight gain. With my first I lost weight and then slowly gained it back, not actually gaining any until after 20 weeks. But from that point it came on pretty quickly (5lbs/month for a total of 30lbs). I think that had a lot to do with my stretch marks though from gaining so fast rather than over a longer period of time. Just something for a heads up.

  35. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@T.H.O.U.: lol I already have stretch marks! I'm super prone to them. I've already accepted I am going to be one giant stretch mark by the end of this.

@xInfinity: We cloth diaper DD, and are going to CD the new baby too. I'm not sure if we're going to get more CDs so we can exclusively CD both, or if I'm just going to supplement with sposies until DD is potty trained.

@mrs. 64: Agh, bummer... I went to a wedding last pregnancy, but I wasn't even showing yet. No weddings this summer - I have no idea what I would wear! It's hard enough finding a dress I like without a big belly...

@pui: I've actually lost about 5 pounds since the beginning of my pregnancy. Between my last two appointments I was down an additional 1.6 pounds. My Dr. wasn't concerned either (although, to be fair, I am carrying quite a bit of extra weight - never lost the weight from L). She said that it's possible I'll only gain up to 15 pounds this pregnancy (which will be a huge relief from the 40 I gained with L!!)

  37. swurlygurl

    honeydew / 7091 posts

@pui: I've never heard of this Rh disease! I'm 100% sure they never tested DH's blood when I was pregnant with L?

  38. pui

    bananas / 9899 posts

@swurlygurl: Our doctor is DH's family doctor, so he already knew DH's blood type from his birth basically!

  39. xInfinity

    cherry / 240 posts

@swurlygurl: Usually they won't even test your spouse. If you are negative then they will give you the shots just in case he is positive in which case your baby could be positive. If you are positive then it doesn't matter and you don't need the shot no matter what. Its not a disease, its just what the + or - part of your blood type means...A+, O- etc. And it only affects your life if your negative blood will be combining with positive blood which is really only during pregnancy/labour or a blood transfusion. If our doctor hasn't mentioned it then its probably beccause you're positive and won't need the shots

  40. mrskc

    bananas / 9357 posts

@swurlygurl: if you are Rh positive then it doesn't affect you. You probably are since you didn't get the shot with your first pregnancy. And it wouldn't matter whether your DH is negative or positive if you are Rh positive.

@pui: I had two miscarriages before I had DS and had to get the shot both times. DS was born healthy with no issues.
