@mrskc: @xInfinity: Oh good - thanks! That makes sense I suppose. I can't believe I'm still being surprised by stuff with my second pregnancy! Haha

Unfortunately, the technician could not tell us the gender (she could see the gender but is apparently not allowed to tell us. She even pulled the screen away so I couldn't even make a guess lol). I have to wait a few more days to hear from my doctor.

It's killing me that the gender is written down on some piece of paper somewhere and I'm not allowed to see it!!

Everything else about the ultrasound went great. Baby looks good!

@pui: that's craziness - I've never heard of such!! Booooooo!

@pui: Boo, that sucks! Do they have any of those elective US places near you that you can run into?

@pui: Too bad. I think its mean that someone else knows the gender of YOUR baby and won't tell you!

@Mrs.Someone: I know! I wish I could have at least tried to guess.

The technician did use the pronoun "he" once to refer to the baby, but I wonder if that was just a general "he" rather than a slip.

@pui: I actually came on here to check to see how your scan went. WHAT?!?! That's ridiculous that they could not tell you! Can you call your doctor this afternoon??

@pui: That really stinks and I've never heard of that! But I guess it makes sense if they are just doing the scan and then send it off. I wonder if you couldn't call your office before hand and ask? Also, our ultrasound lady caveated that she always uses the pronoun "he" regardless of gender.

@T.H.O.U.: @LovelyPlum: We went to our doctor's office right after the scan and they said it can take a few days to get to them. Seriously all that needs to be done is someone needs to fax them the results! Gah!

WELLL... move me over from the girl side to the boy side. Ends up we have quite the April Fool's trickster on our hands. Our baby girl is now a baby BOY.

I'm embarrassed to admit but after the roller coaster of no doubt it's a boy at 12 weeks, 100% it's a girl at 18 weeks, and now this... I had a mini pregnancy breakdown. Baby is healthy and that's all that matters. Plus my husband got to show how amazing he is by comforting me and reminding me how I wanted a boy to begin with and that the 18 week scan had just thrown me off.

ETA: I do NOT recommend having a gender scan that reveals a change in the baby's sex on April Fool's Day. It makes everything a lot more stressful.

@BakerBee: Oh my goodness!! I would be a crying mess! Did you ask the tech if she was April Fools-ing you?? I'm so happy you have a healthy baby though, and you get to have one heck of a fun mid-pregnancy story! You can tease your boy when he's older that he kept changing sexes

@swurlygurl: I cried in the doctor's office which was mortifying. I wasn't upset about the boy, it was just the change. I was situated with a girl and didn't want to deal with telling everyone AGAIN. Plus my best friend (the baby's godmother) sent 4 outfits already that now i have to return and I had JUST settled on bedding. I know these are all very stupid things and once logic came through, I was okay, but at the time, I couldn't think logically. We were so shocked that she printed us over 4 pictures of his parts and made us a DVD... my doctor is also giving me a free 24 week scan because of the mix-up just to make sure that the baby still has boy parts.

@BakerBee: Oh my goodness, what a day you've had. I think any of us would've been super frustrated had that happened! I hope tomorrow is a better day.

@BakerBee: omggggg thats crazy!!! congrats on your boy! i would've reacted the same way too! I'm glad they're letting you have one more u/s to triple-check.

@BakerBee: that sounds super stressful!

@BakerBee: Ugh, I'm doing a laugh/cry right now just thinking about what you went through today. I can't imagine your mix of emotions! I'm sorry about the stress but congrats on your boy!

@pui: Aw that just sucks!! Do you have to wait until your May 5th appt though or can you call in a few days and find out after they've gotten the ultrasound report?
