@swurlygurl: Yeah, lightning crotch is the worst! It always seems to hit me when I'm walking around stores too.
And I still have a hard time believing that my baby will look human. I haven't had an ultrasound since 19 weeks which may be part of it, but right now the vision in my head is more like an octopus with lots of limbs and elbows and knees since thats what it feels like

@swurlygurl: I can't imagine what this baby will look like at all. My husband and I look alike, so I'm inclined to say he will look like us, but I actually look nothing like my family... so maybe he will look like my family and not like us? I don't really envision him at all, which I just realized might be really weird.

Little update: apparently I DO have a normal umbilical cord, they just couldn't see it on the first ultrasound. So not sure why all the angst had to happen.
Had ultrasound yesterday to check on growth & baby position. head down (I kind of had a feeling since he had been sitting lower starting the day before) and a whopping 6lbs11oz. I've only gained (as of last Friday) 9lbs total so I'm more than okay with that.
Still need to get nursing bras, paint boys room (SO has primed, uh, two walls) and install/rearrange car seats.
Other than that, bring on the walking & the sex to help get baby moving. 36 weeks today!

@sera_87: say what? you've only gained 9 lbs TOTAL? wow! go you!!! and happy 36 weeks!
pomegranate / 3604 posts
@msmug: yes but I'm not a skinny minny to begin with. I'm pretty sure they only recommend me to gain 10-15 total anyways.
it feels like it's the very last hurdle, yanno? Baby could be here in as little as two weeks! (What the what?!)

@JennyPenny: No kidding - I have no idea how such a tiny (supposedly weak?!) baby can move around and cause such violent pushes in my stomach!
@sera_87: Oh geez, that sucks that you've been worried for no reason. At least you can enjoy the last few weeks now!!
Anyone else reading the July 2014 board and getting crazy excited about all their labor talk?? That's going to be us any day now!!! Talking about dilation, contractions, hospital stays... aaahhh!!!
nectarine / 2460 posts
@swurlygurl: Yep! I've been following the July board all along since its like a preview of what's coming for us. And it is definitely getting exciting! For them it looks like the babies started coming the 2nd half of June, which I guess means we should be looking to have some new mamas end of next week!!
pomelo / 5228 posts
@swurlygurl: @JennyPenny: All I've got to say to that is: HOLY CRAP I'M NOT READY!
pomegranate / 3895 posts
@swurlygurl: I keep reading it and convincing myself baby is closer than he really is. I have to remind myself that I'm at the end of August (8/20 - thought baby measures a week ahead) and that I will probably be the last to go on this board.
@JennyPenny: I get so weirded out by how fast this baby seems to be able to move. He's kicking me on one side and head butting me in another spot. Octopus baby for sure!
@sera_87: I'm glad to hear that everyone is healthy - sorry you had to deal with that scare

@swurlygurl: @JennyPenny: @Mrs.Someone:
I've been following July boards too! On one hand, I can't wait to get there, but then I also look at how far we have come in a month compared to where the September boards are now. Some of them just got the GD tests finalized!

@sera_87: wow, that stinks that you were worried for no reason. Glad you and baby are healthy!
Also, may I say, I am totally in awe that you gained so little weight. I really tried to behave but I am on track to gain about 30 lbs. I started off a bit overweight so I was really hoping to keep the weight gain low. Fail
@Mrs.Someone: Soo NOT READY!!
Is anyone else worried about giving birth to a big baby? My family makes big babies. I was 8lb12oz. At my 33 week appt they estimated my baby to be 5-6lbs already. My Dr thinks she will be about the size I was when I was born. Eek!! That didn't end well for my mom, she had a c-section. Overall I try to remain positive and trust that my body will do what it is supposed to do but every once in awhile a little worry sneaks in.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@beckysue: I'm fairly worried about this. My family has been pretty average - but DH is from a family of 10+ lbers. He and his siblings were 10 lbs and so far his sister's 3 kids have been 10ish as well. Luckily (for me) the Dr says babies tend to be more in line with mom's side of the family. But I haven't had an ultrasound since 19 weeks so who knows what's going on in there!
And I am SOO ready. It's been a major change since this time last week, but the discomforts have increased dramatically over the last few days and I'm definitely feeling ready to have this baby. I have to actively tell myself how great it will be to get X, Y or Z done before the baby or attend some event in the next few weeks. Honestly, when I think of this possibly taking another 3-5 weeks...whew its rough...

@swurlygurl: @JennyPenny: @Mrs.Someone: I stalk the July board too!! As much as i feel like i'm ready for this pregnancy to be over, i am SO not ready. Nursery BARELY started (the crib is in!) and i don't hardly have enough things ready!!!
@BakerBee: ha i know the feeling - i'm 8/21, and even though it's technically next month i feel like it's SO far away!! I know i will be twiddling my thumbs and being jealous of everyone who gives birth in the first half of August.
@beckysue: i have to say, i'm a bit worried about having a big boy - DH was pretty big, i was on the smaller side, so if the baby takes after DH i'm in for it.
is anybody else just getting more and more uncomfortable as the days go by? i'm barely 34 weeks now and 6 more weeks of this? and i'm only going to get bigger????
another question - my baby only likes to hang out on the right side, and he has been for weeks now - is this normal??
nectarine / 2460 posts
@chibee: I don't know about normal, but my guy has been on the left pretty much the whole pregnancy. I posted this way back in the beginning, and while I don't look this silly anymore - my bump is definitely still bigger on the left...
cherry / 186 posts
@chibee: @JennyPenny:
So far I feel pretty good. Definitely moving slower, but once I am up and about I feel pretty good. However, sleep is TERRIBLE. It makes work so much more difficult when I am so tired.
Oh, and my baby almost always hangs out on the right side. My bump is lopsided for the majority of the day. My husband loves it and likes to poke me (her).

I think I'm too scared to look at the July boards! I need more time, yet I am in such pain I don't know how I can make it a few more weeks (due August 4th). I was having mild pelvic pain for awhile, but yesterday afternoon it suddenly became severe and I started having trouble walking, going up stairs etc. Basically constant "lightning crotch" and wincing pain anytime I move too much. So crazy and not what I need while trying to watch my 18-month old. I keep telling myself it's only for a couple of weeks, but that is horrifying in itself. I looked on old boards on HB and it sounds pretty common, especially for second time moms and beyond. Another one of those things where I think, "no one told me about this!!!"
@beckysue: I was worried about having a big baby with my first (due to my family and DH's history of have 10+lbers) but DD ended up being just under 8 lbs. thankfully!!!
apricot / 403 posts
@chibee: yes I'm SOO uncomfortable and ready to pop these babies out!! I have a little over 5 more weeks until my scheduled c-section and while I can't believe it's coming up so soon, I also just want it to hurry up and get here!
Luckily my modified work schedule starts next week, so I'll only be waddling into the office 3 days a week. Whew!

I found out this afternoon I have symphysis pubic dysfunction (SPD). A fellow HB'er alerted me to this possibility (after I posted my symptoms) and after consulting my doctor this afternoon she came to the same conclusion. I bought a pelvic support belt and my pain is so much better...who knew!!! Trying to stay away from google as some of the info. about it lasting after delivery scares me .

Today was an exciting mail day! My breast pump arrived from insurance - Medela PISA. It looks a bit intimidating, but I expect I'll get cozy with the instruction manual over the weekend. My Bellefit corset arrived too and the idea of it ever fitting me seems laughable. I saw it and thought "Was I ever actually this small? Will I really be this size again?" *fingers crossed*
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@Mrs. M: Glad you are getting some relief!
@JennyPenny: Pumps are scary at first but over time they aren't so bad!
kiwi / 645 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Thank you! This pregnancy support belt is a life saver and I can now walk upstairs!
@JennyPenny: My pump also intimidated me at first. It's really easy to use once you get acquainted...Hellobee has some great information in the archives on how to get started. I won't lie that at times I wanted to burn it/run it over etc. All jokes aside it is a miracle invention for allowing baby to be fed while you are away! You'll have to let us know if you like the corset! I didn't buy one the first time around and have always wondered if they work.

@Mrs. M: What does the pelvic support belt do? I just ordered a pregnancy support belt and I'm hoping it'll help alleviate some of this hip pain!
@chibee: both girls love to hang out in the right side.
kiwi / 645 posts
@locavore_mama: I've only had it for a day (I'll be 37-weeks on Tuesday) and it's a miracle product for me. In my case it's taking pressure off severe leg/ groin pain that was causing issues with walking, going upstairs etc. I'm still in a lot of pain while sleeping (I even tried wearing it to bed, but it didn't work), but the second I put it back on this morning I had major relief. I've heard it also helps with back and hip pain (which I don't have) so I'm hoping this helps you too!

Well, baby is full term as of this past Saturday, so baby watch has officially begun! I've got all the big stuff done, so we're pretty much ready. Now I'm just trying to prioritize all the little stuff so that if I get to it, great, if not, oh well... Hard to believe the August babies could be arriving any day now!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@JennyPenny: Congrats for being so close! Do you have your bags packed?
I know what you mean about getting to that point of anything else I get done is bonus!

@JennyPenny: ahh full term! so close to the end!!
i think the only things i have to do are get my std insurance stuff figured out (i think i can only do it 1 month b4 my edd tho?), install carseat, and pack hospital bag. its semi-packed now but still need a couple more things. what is on everyone elses list? i feel like i'm forgetting something...
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@kodybear: haha so much. But I am way more chill the second time.
The only musts are wash clothes, get summer infant sleeper back, NB / 1 diapers. Everything else doesn't matter.
And tons of house renovations stuff. Would be nice to have a pregnancy where we are only worrying about baby stuff.
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@kodybear: Washing clothes is next on my to-do list.
I think I got the PNP set up this weekend. The car seat and stroller is all washed and clean.
Other stuff I need to do includes:
- Oil Change
- Vet apt for dog
- Clean out my bathroom
pomelo / 5228 posts
We have plenty to do!
- Install car seats
- hang art & camera in nursery
- finish registry
- pack hospital & diaper bags
....
nectarine / 2460 posts
@kodybear: @T.H.O.U.: Thanks! Yep, bags are packed with the exception of the stuff I use regularly. My to do list is now:
- organize paperwork (numbers to call after birth, insurance, etc)
- finish a few DIY projects for nursery
- prep birth announcements
- misc projects to get the house cleaner/more organized
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
Oh, the one I keep forgetting is to charge the camera and clean off the memory card!
nectarine / 2460 posts
Also - I found this fun chart a while back that shows how likely you are to go into labor on/by a given day. It updates every day too if you haven't already given birth:
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@JennyPenny: Here is another version that takes a few more factors into account:
pomelo / 5228 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Woo hoo! 73% chance baby will be here by his due date. Thanks for sharing
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@T.H.O.U.: why does my college education have anything to do with it? Also I'm confused my percentage only goes up to 5%?!
wonderful clementine / 24134 posts
@locavore_mama: If you click at the top you can see chance per day and chance by a certain day.
If you look at how this works, its based on the CDC data and part of that is college education levels.
nectarine / 2460 posts
@T.H.O.U.: Oooh, thanks for sharing! I like this way better. It did kind of bug me that the one I had was based purely on standard deviation.

So I have lots of news to report!
Both my SIL and my sister had their babies this week!
SIL was induced at 39 weeks due to preeclampsia. After a long labour, her baby girl was born on July 12 at 9:28pm. Besides the cleft palette she is completely healthy. She can breath on her own and apparently has also been eating well (not sure if she's being breastfed or not?) They kept her in the NICU for a few days mostly as a formality but she was released yesterday.
My sister's water broke at 11pm on Monday night. She was 40w2d. At 5:51pm on July 15 her baby girl was born. Completely normal and healthy!
I had a doctor's appointment yesterday. The doctor couldn't tell completely if baby was head down or not (he said he thinks she is, but he isn't sure) so he scheduled me for an ultrasound on Thursday to confirm.
I also did maternity pics yesterday! Will share as soon as I get them back!
