@Adira: Yes, I think stage 2 is just slightly thicker. The containers are twice the size and only a few cents more for double volume! When we finally moved to stage 2 with C, I felt scammed. Although, it was really tempting to buy the blends last night. I stuck with more single foods.

@mamag: 11-12 hours straight? or 11-12 hours total overnight? E usually does 12ish (630p-630/7a), but she still wakes up 1-2x a night.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: straight I'm greedy in the sleep department. We are getting close to 11 hours with a wakeup at about 9 hours. I know it's great and I should be content, but the wake-up in the 4:00-5:00 range is killing me since I get up normally at 5:30.
pear / 1961 posts
@mamag: ugh - yeah, that would be the worst timing! DH gets up around then and always prefers to handle the wake-up earlier in the night (if any) than anything after 3am.

@MamaG: We are nowhere near sleeping 11-12 hours straight right now. Not even frigging close. My first never ever slept 11-12 until he went to one nap. He slept through the night periodically from 4m on (consistently at 8) but STTN for him was 10 hours straight (and not going back down after those 10 hours). My children have low sleep needs.

I can't keep up! Both kids have been sick since Friday. Not a great mother's day - super crabby and horrendous sleep. We did start solids with Ryan on our GI doc's suggestion - it's hit or miss. He's had peas, pears and bananas....gives the EW GROSS face at first but then demands more. Not eating a heck of a lot - just one meal a day and the stage 1 jar lasts 3 feedings. Doing Earth's Best organic like we did with our first. Kudos to those that are making their own food but I don't have time! Getting ready for Ty's 3rd bday party this weekend and we're house hunting. Today trying to put together patio furniture on my own while Ty at school. HA

@MamaG: Ha. We get max 4 hours usually.
@winniebee: Wow, I don't envy how busy you are! Hope you can fit in some me-time somewhere!

@MamaG: Oh how I wish. We just did night 2 of PnP sleeping & he slept from 11:45pm - 3:15am without eating or waking much, but was up and/or crying every hour the rest of the time.
We haven't started solids here yet either, but he definitely loves watching us eat. Trying to decide how much hassle it will be because we go on vacation in 3 weeks (already stressing about pumping since I take forever to finish & we'll be visiting DH's family)

@winniebee: I really want to send all good things sleep related your way. I feel awful every time I even post about sleep because I know how awful things are for you. Seriously, sorry.
You've been missing and I wandered what craziness was going on. How you keep it together is beyond me. Patio furniture? Who needs that?

@winnibee: by "making their own food" do you mean that i peel a banana and hand her a chunk? if so, yes, i totally do that. haha.

We gave Micah some oatmeal cereal and he didn't seem to care for it.
I can't believe he will be 5 months on Saturday! Time is going by way too quickly!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: K has yet to give me even a 7 hour stretch! I think she managed 6 one day but lately it's been 4-5... She doesn't even sleep 12 hours total usually, more like 10-11!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: house hunting locally? I am so sorry you had a rough weekend! I say you get a re-do at some point! It's funny that he acts like he doesn't like food but wants more! I guess they're in the exploration stage!
DH has lofty goals of making her food... We will see, haha! I think he really will though b/c food prep to him is no big deal.

So far 'making' baby food has just consisted of squishing the banana and cooking/blending some peas (+ bm to thin it out). Thinking just single-ingredient stuff for now is pretty easy. I've seen some pretty 'fancy' baby food recipes though!

@winniebee: what a busy/not fun weekend...I agree you get a re do hopefully!!! I hope the kiddos start feeling better quick!

@MamaG: we did that once around 12 weeks and never again.......lol

I thought we were on the mend but Ryan has a 101 fever today....4 days into this cold.....

@whenoceansrise: Right!??!? I keep thinking how fast 5 months has gone and in 5 more we will on the tail of a year
pomelo / 5660 posts
I just mash a banana and add some formula. Sleep is hit or miss. Sometimes she wakes up at 3 am sometimes she doesn't.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: J is getting about 9.5 hours with 1 wakeup or sometimes 10.5 with 2 wakeups.
I think that M was getting close to 11 hours straight by this age, but she was FF (I think your daughter is too?). I know the lactation consultants would dispute it, but in my opinion, it makes a difference.
@winniebee: I'm so sorry about the Mothers day and now the fever You guys just can't catch a break...
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: Yup, we FF. My memory just isn't clear on C, and I was too exhausted to document it all. I recall that we went through a period where she was waking earlier than I liked, but I remember her staying awake. At least for now she's taking her bottle and going back to sleep.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: yeah. I didn't document much at all but I think she was sleeping from about 7 to 5 or 6 with no wakeups. I definitely remember those early mornings. J is now doing about the same thing but with 1 or 2 wakeups.

For those on solids how many feedings do you do?
My plan is just the one until that becomes super easy and she wants more than go to 2?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: I'm doing one feeding in the evening. When she gets better and more hungry we will give school the green light to feed her there as well. I feel like with C we went from one feeding to three. And started the concept of three standard meals per day.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: We haven't started yet, but with Xander, we started with one "meal" a day, and then increased to two after a month, and then to three after another month.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Had to go into the city for work today and I pumped on the train! Things moms do for their babies!
pear / 1961 posts
@faithfertility: for the first month or so, i just do solids whenever it works. most days it's once/day, sometimes twice (especially if she wasn't that interested the first time), and none if it's not convenient (like when we traveled this past weekend). it's all just a learning experience and/or sensory play at this point, so i don't stress and just try to give her opportunities. after a month or two, basically once she gets the hang of it and is consuming more of it, i'll be more consistent with 2-3x/day. and then work in a snack or two once she gets closer to a year.
pear / 1961 posts
@faithfertility: at least that's MY plan. we'll see what sort of plan E has in mind. hahaha.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: sounds like a good plan to me, kind of our route too!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Now I'm just pumping in broad day light sitting at my spot (with cover of course). I didn't want to sit in the bathroom, and last pump I stood in a corner and stuck out even more!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: it was fine, just a little tricky disassembling and putting everything away. I hope my ice pack will last too... I honestly don't even care anymore haha all I care is that I pump my days worth!
eggplant / 11861 posts
We need nap training!!!!! Naps are becoming fights!!! It is awful
She is falling asleep on me in saucer and the minute I lay her in her room SCREAMS!!!!
honeydew / 7283 posts
I agree with @KayKay: on the solids "schedule" to me - they're just learning at this point!
@snowjewelz: rockstar! I'm super impressed.
@FaithFertility: We definitely had to go through some crying to get to good naps. I'm sorry G's having trouble!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: yeah since She is still crying when I'm holding her to me it isn't working
So we need to try something else
