@FaithFertility: I'm sorry That's the same thing that happened with us. J was crying even while I was trying to soothe him.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: how long did you let him play/fuss/cry in crib she just played for over 30minutes after falling asleep in saucer ????? Then I let her cry for about 2 mins and went in to pat her and she is playing and rolling again so we are on 45mins??? At want point is this nap a no go?
She has taken only 1 30 minute nap all day
honeydew / 7283 posts
@FaithFertility: We really sleep trained and nap trained at the same time and did Weisbluth-style CIO for both. We never had extreme extended crying for either my daughter or for J, but still - it's pretty hard core. I didn't do checks because with my kids' personalities I felt like the checks would just make me feel better but would make the baby more upset.
Every family and baby is different and there's no one right answer. I think the key is that whatever you do you have to be consistent so that the baby knows what to expect.

@FaithFertility: We've been struggling with naps lately too. Logan fought every single one of his naps on Sunday and even going down last night was a struggle.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: Thank you, I know I need to train a bit, but I just can't bring myself to add ANOTHER battle to our mix, but honestly this isn't working for her either so if it continues, I will try harder.
Gahhhh I sound like a broken record!!!

@FaithFertility: It's SO hard and there really is no right answer. I sometimes hate to even talk about this stuff because what's right for one family / baby is wrong for another, etc. Sleep training isn't magic either. J still cries for a few minutes when I put him down sometimes, but he takes a good nap afterwards, so I'm calling it a success.
I hope that things get easier for you guys soon!

@FaithFertility: Crappy . They tell me he fights them. Went down for the night okay tonight though.

Does anyone else feel like they are still dealing with a pretty fussy baby? J is rarely content and still needs so much soothing to get through the day. It's so hard to take the two kids anywhere because he needs to be constantly walked / bounced around, etc. Big sister was colicky so I know that babies cry. It's just that by this time we had her MSPI issues sorted out and I think she was a lot happier than J is. I just hate feeling like we're not making any progress and like our house is just all crying and spit up
I might just be extra frustrated because we were up every two hours last night.

@mrsf: that sounds rough. does it affect your older one, too, having to give more attention to J? i hear you on the every 2 hours last night, though! E is cutting her 2nd tooth and is super-congested. she would just wake up sort of moaning, not even full-on crying, and sounded miserable. i feel bad for her...and tired old me!

@MrsF: Oh man I'm sorry : ( Do you think it has anything to do with your diet? He should turn the corner soon regardless!
@FaithFertility: We were turning the corner on naps the past few weeks but....with this illness they have been really bad. I also have to do a fair amount of bouncing shhhhh or nursing to get him to sleep......
@KayKay: two teeth!? wow! but yuck on the sleep.

Still hanging out in sicko land! Ryan hasn't had a fever but his cough is still pretty bad (it's day 6 I think...which was the peak last illness for us). His sleep is all over the place. Between him and his brother (who has also been sick but should NOT be waking up due to illness at this point) we are up at least 3x a night. I haven't slept more than 3 hours straight in weeks. I cannot wait for this illness to be done I think I finally have the balls to unswaddle him in the crib and let him cry for naps and bed time! Ryan is totally hit or miss on solids but I think he's liking some of it? He had a diaper full of pear smelling poop yesterday. Yuck. It has not help with his spit up at all though. He is still fountains most days.... His demeanor is in general really good so I can't complain there

@KayKay: wow, 2nd tooth!
@winniebee: hugs mama
D is hanging out. She's back to STTN. Naps are all over the place, but she STTN so I pick and choose my battles. D seems to enjoy solids. B thinks it's hilarious she sits in his chair. The interesting thing is D is trying to pull up. She army crawls like a champ. I am not ready for her to be this mobile. Today D is 6 months old!!!

@MrsF: I'm so sorry! That sounds hard.
@winniebee: Sorry about your sick babies! Hopefully they are on the mend soon. Logan is sick again too, but it hasn't affected his sleep yet, thankfully. Really hope you all get some sleep soon!
@KayKay: Teeth??? OMG. Logan doesn't have any yet!
@BandDmommy: Happy 6 Months to D!! I can't believe she's army crawling and eating solids like a champ already. These babies grow up too fast!!

@banddmommy: D is such an over-achiever! happy 6 months to her. time flies.
@winniebee: fingers crossed that all of this sickness now means you'll have super-healthy kids in the future that's how it works, right? and R is definitely an adorable little fountain!

I wish there was a magic button we could push to all get ONE night of 6+ hours of sleep straight. I keep wondering what happened to the 4 hour stretches...
@MrsF: Ethan does seem to need attention often, but I have nothing to compare to; He likes to at least be able to see someone. Taking him shopping has been mostly unsuccessful as well, he gets tired of the car seat pretty quickly and wants to be held. Sorry its been tough with J!
@winniebee: Sick babies are no fun. E has a bad cough now, but no fever at least. Hope your babies get better and you get some sleep!
@BandDmommy: Wow, army-crawling already. What we have to look forward to! (or be afraid of!) Happy 6 months D!

@MrsF: Awwww stinky, no even with no naps G is really not fussy at all!
Hopefully it is teeth!!!
@KayKay: Sorry about the bad sleep!
@winniebee: Yeah she fights them hard at times, but yesterday was nuts!!! Hope your little guys are getting better!
How fun house hunting!

Thanks for the support ladies. I just want to feel like my kids are happy, you know? M was such a fussy baby and I really had myself convinced that this time would be different...
@winniebee: I don't know what to think about the diet. I think that's part of why I'm so bothered by the fussiness is that I always want to blame my diet (myself). The fact that there was a medical reason for M's colic makes it so I'm looking for something similar this time. I really didn't see a huge difference when I ditched the MSPI diet a month ago, but the past week or so have been horrendous. The idea of starting the diet all over again when my whole freezer stash is "contaminated" and I have no idea if it was even helping makes me want to cry.
Maybe he just has a bad attitude?
I think there's a SATC episode with the line "you can't call a baby an a$$hole". Gah.

@MrsF: You have such a good heart! J is lucky to have you as a Mama!!!! It's hard not knowing what is up!!!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: I'm sorry : ( I didn't mean to suggest you should blame yourself! I was just wondering if you had seen a difference for the worse. It sounds like it didn't make a difference though! Also, you'd see blood in his stool by now if he had a true sensitivity. Some babies are just less settled than others. Our older (who did have a dairy intolerance) had a fussy demeanor even when on nutramigen. It's just his personality in life - high energy, talkative, particular. It all started making more sense once he was really able to communicate. I've done absolutely nothing different with Ryan and he's got an easier temperament. Every baby is so different but it's easy to think it's something we as parents are doing!

@KayKay: Ugh - teething is so rough. Can you see / feel the tooth? I keep thinking that J must be teething, but no evidence so far.
@winniebee: You guys have definitely had more than your fair share of sickness! I'm sorry the solids aren't helping with the spit-up so far. I was really hopeful that it might help when we start. We are absolutely covered in spit up over here too.
@BandDmommy: Happy 6 months to D! I can't believe she's on the move!
@josina: I'm sorry sleep has been such a challenge for you guys lately. It makes everything so much harder when you're tired.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: Oh, I didn't mean that you had suggested it was my fault. That's totally coming from me! Honestly, M was not a very content baby even on Nutramigen. Much like you're describing T. I think that challenging personality is one of the reason that she's so smart - she just always wants more interaction, etc. One of my issues is that even though M was so colicky she never had bloody stool until we switched to formula (much higher concentration of cows milk protein than BM) so I keep thinking... what if? One part of me is considering trying to do Nutramigen for a week and pump to keep my supply up. That part of me sounds a little crazy though, even to me

@MrsF: I think K is still pretty fussy. She whines a lot if we aren't giving her our attention. I also don't love babies. So I'm anxious to get to the next stage. I know they all have their battles, but I'm ready for her to be interactive with her sister and not to worry every time they are alone for two seconds.

@MamaG: I feel the same way. Babies are NOT my thing (says the mother of two difficult babies). I just think that as a toddler M is more fun each day. I hate to wish away the days but...
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: I definitely can't wait to not have to hover so much! Says the mom whose toddler 1. Spit in the baby's eye 2. Shook the car seat violently before I could stop him. With baby inside. 3. Pulled the sunshine ornament on the jumper back hard and smacked baby on head leaving welt. All in the last week
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
So sorry for everyone dealing with one thing or another! K is still same old same old. So much fun but sleep is still the same (usually 4 hr stretch follow by 2-3... sigh). Naps are alright, but she has eaten SO little milk this week (she usually takes 12 oz and eats like 9-10 barely!). And I def see her being a lil more clingy and demanding.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: Yikes! C body slammed K on the bed the other day. No lasting marks, but goodness. And she tried to carry the carseat twice yesterday. But C really does love K, and every person we encounter she begs them to look at our baby. I try to cherish it because one day these are going to be two teenage girls in my house ... Oh boy!

@BandDmommy: Happy 6 months D!
Same old, same old here with M too. Still taking crappy naps (15-20 mins if we're lucky). Last night was night 3 of sleeping in the PnP, but he woke up unhappy quite a few times (DH had to pick him up to soothe him at one point). Still eating 3 or so times a night. Hopefully going this weekend to get his highchair.

E was sitting in the bumbo and just reached out and knocked over the bottle of milk i just pumped. it looked intentional -- her not-so-subtle way of telling me she is still on bottle strike? sheesh!

@KayKay: Oh no!! I hope they didn't spill???
Logan was sitting in a bumbo at daycare yesterday. He looked like he was trying to eat his feet but he's too chubby and can't get them to his mouth, haha.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: eek I would cry! Precious milk! I only have 10 oz frozen!
@Adira: feet are tasty!
@AngelicOne: yikes those are bad naps!!
pear / 1961 posts
@adira: oh she knocked it over all right. doesn't do anything half-assed, that one luckily only lost an ounce or so!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@KayKay: Phew!! I'd cry if I lost anything more than that!! By the way, you need to update your TTC status - it still says Currently Pregnant!
@winniebee: haha, yes they are! I remember Xander used to love chowing down on his feet. But he was thinner and could reach them! Poor Logan keeps trying, but can't get his feet to his mouth!
