@winniebee: Your 15 minute rule sounds like a good plan... I nurse between 12 and 1 and 4 and 5 but let him cry if he wants up in between 1 and 4. A few 3:30 wakeups he feel back asleep.
@FaithFertility: I bring E into bed every morning for the same reason, I love having him close! This morning brought him in at 7 and he feel back asleep w with me.
@MrsF: Ahh, hope teething goes well! Not looking forward to it...
@MamaG: I hope sleep is better tonight! And no tummy issues.
We had our first non- family babysitter last night... She said Ethan fussed at the bottle until his sister tried ( no food from strangers? ) and cried for awhile but he didn't get good naps in yesterday so that didn't help. Thinking DH should do bed time a couple nights so he's used to someone else.
I did get a 5 1/2 hr stretch last night! I woke up at 5 hrs to make sure he was OK! Lol. Hoping for a repeat. Of course hes still awake in my lap now so we r going to bed late!

@MamaG: it's so hard to have a terrible night / weekend when things have been going so well! We had one last week but it seems to have been a fluke (although I did give Tylenol for one early wakeup last night and feed at another). I hope things get better for you soon!

@josina: glad you got a nice stretch of sleep! I hope last night was good as well!

Well we had to use the 5, 10, 15 rule at 830 but he worked it out after the second soothe. Up at 1230, 2, 3, 5 for day. I fed him at 1230 and 3 and didn't let him cry very long at 2 because he was pretty pissed (was on his belly) There's no way he should have woken for the day at 5 with all those wakings. I am really effing tired. But it's his first full night in the crib Unswaddled so...yay?
I have no idea how to get him down for a nap in the crib other than nursing so in doing that now and then doing the 5, 10, 15 method and if he wakes unhappy before the hour mark 5, 10, 15 again.
Naps sucked royally this weekend too but honestly they are ao hit or miss anyways. I thought we had outgrown the cat nap but he started up with it again this week.

@josina: oh that's awesome about getting a babysitter! And great that sister was there to help out
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MrsF: tooth!! Maybe that's why he's been a little grumpy?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: maybe it's just taking her gut a little time to adjust to solids? Has the soy formula been helping? Maybe start a little water?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: the soy was helping. We had more spit up again this weekend, so who knows.

@josina: Yay for babysitter! Glad sister was there to offer bottle, these kiddos are so smart!
I try to have DH do naps and any MOTN wakes that do not involve a feeding so she is used to him putting her down too, it is hard as his schedule has him away 4-5 nights a week!
Proud of him and his 5 hr stretch!!!
Also love all the IG picks of him sitting!!!
What did you do to help him? It is all G wants to do but she still flops over
@winniebee: Yay is right..... first night and he stayed you didn't bring him in bed, that is a win on my book!!!
Sorry for crappy sleep, hopefully it gets better!
Is he using the love?
I give G hers at naps but I see her petting the mesh bumper all the time instead......hahaha

@winnibee: definitely a success for just trying and making it through the night! i'm sure it will get better (although maybe worse before it gets better? who knows!) have you thought about just trying to put him on a 2-nap schedule at the same time everyday? i know that, in theory, it helps to put them down as soon as they are sleepy, but i have a hard time always reading sleepy signals these days! maybe always putting him down at 9 and 1 or whatever will mean he will just get drowsy at those times (eventually)? nursing down is definitely a good interim solution!
we have a little jabberwocky over here lately. we had a great night last night, but the one before, she was up at 11p, 1a, and 2a. at 2a, i sent DH in to soothe her bc she was yelling 'dadadadada' (clearly not actually meaning him, but i teased him that she was requesting him!). he gave her tylenol for teeth, but then couldn't get her to settle. finally he gave up, and by the time he came back upstairs, she was cooing and put herself to sleep. we joked that she was trying to tell him to get out of there so she could go to sleep. hahaha.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: I think the solids are making it harder for her to go too?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: I have also played with the idea of a 2-3-4 schedule as she seems if engaged to be up for 3-4 hrs during the day... Saturday at my moms she was in the pool and hanging out and did not want to miss the party, was up from 11-4
So sweet on her saying dadadadad.....lol
I love the talking it is sol cute, just not at 3 a.m.
pear / 1961 posts
@faithfertility: that's what we are aiming for (ish), too, but lately with her being sick, she is hollering for a nap after about 1.5hrs. i'm hopeful we can get a little closer by the time i have my vacation and my mom watches her for a week! although it's pretty obvious when she wants to be put down...i think even a kid-less stranger could figure it out
pomelo / 5298 posts
@KayKay: Interesting that you mention a two nap schedule. Our naps are rotten, horrible, non-existent. I asked DH this weekend if he remembered when C went to two consistent naps. I know she went to one at 12 months. But I don't recall when the two nap schedule happened.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: G is getting a little less obvious... either I catch her at the perfect time, like this past nap and goes down in 2 minutes
Or she is passed it tired but fights it like a bear!

I had an ah-ha moment at drop off this morning. Daycare agreed spit up has been worse again. I think it's because we are using a variety of formula. We had started with Gerber Soy and life was cruising pretty good. Then we picked up some Isomil (Similac Soy) on sale. And added in Target brand too. I wonder now if we need to go back to the Gerber and tough it out. The switching of brands wasn't completely my idea, though Gerber is the hardest to find and a bit of a pain in that regard.
K is 6 months today, we go to the doctor this afternoon for her well visit and more shots. We aren't seeing our normal pediatrician, I hope this goes well!

@MamaG: My mom said to me this weekend that kids drop naps maybe she won't nap anymore....I'm like yes mom but I doubt it at 5 months.....lol
Funny how we forget!
We FINALLY packed the swing away after talking about it for a month..lol we both talked about how that window of her life went by so fast! No more "infant"
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: I'm taking a day to organize our house this week (what a fun use of a vacation day, not!) and the swing and RnP will both be washed, photographed and listed for sale locally. Although, she really does still like the mobile on the swing, she's just too big for it.
Yah, 5 months isn't when they drop naps Although, C didn't nap yesterday and I cringed. Just when K figures out naps, C will probably drop her last one. Bummer for us.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MamaG: Happy 6 months to K! How'd the photo shoot go? Bummer about all the spit-up.
@winniebee: I'm with you on sucky naps and nursing to sleep. I had to nurse Logan to sleep for his naps all weekend, and then the majority of the time he would just wake up when I tried to put him down in the crib and only got 15 minutes of sleep. Ugh! But I can't really complain because he sleeps well at night.
@josina: Yay for a good stretch of sleep!!! Hope it continues!!
Anyone else have a baby who gets giggly when they are overtired? Logan just starts laughing at everything when he's super tired! It's adorable, but I feel bad he gets overtired to begin with.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@Adira: hahaha no, but she will be dead asleep and I will put her down in crib and bing.....eyes open big smile arms flapping......lol
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@FaithFertility: haha, Logan does that for naps ALL THE TIME. He's exhausted, I nurse him to sleep, I wait the previously specified 12 minutes before moving him, I lay him in the crib and BAM! Eyes wide and staring at me! Doesn't even act tired anymore.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: Rough night! Hope it gets better!
The little bit of CIO, or I guess technically 'longer and longer' we did for nighttime helped with naps too, I can usually put him in his crib now when he's tired and he will go to sleep on his own.
@FaithFertility: Our sitter just graduated high school so not sure she'll be available too much but hopefully for the summer. Big sis is 12 so can probably start to babysit in a year or 2?
Ethan sitting... Not sure if we helped too much, he has always liked to be upright so we let him sit up on our laps a lot, only used the bumbo for a couple weeks and then let him start sitting up with the boppy around him, it really only took him a week of that to get pretty steady! He still falls over but he does pretty good now!
@MamaG: Yay for figuring out the problem with the formula! Hope the appt. Goes well, no fun on the shots!
@FaithFertility: omg I teared up at the 'no more infant' comment! They grow so fast! We have our swing out yet and still use it although probably shouldn't. He loves it!
@Adira: I would love if E got giggly when tired, he cries/fusses.
No 5 hr stretch last night, up at 12:30, 3:30 and 5:30, went back to sleep on his own at 3:30 with the mobile and his lovey.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: I just thought of something. Is there any chance you have excess lipase in your milk? Have you ever tasted it? I know some moms whose milk has an awful taste after just a few hours. I have excess lipase but my milk just tastes a little soapy after being frozen. Could this be her issue with the bottle?

@snowjewelz: Same here, it breaks my heart all that they are going through. Praying for the best!

Me too ladies. My heart aches. I was eating my lunch when I saw MrsScallops post on FB and the rest of my lunch went to the trash. Her earlier update today sounded at least neutral, though not great as they didn't really have answers.

@winniebee: Ohhh thank you so much for continuing to think of us and the bottle!
Yeah I've tried and 9/10 I am giving her fresh pumped milk!
She is a stubborn kiddo!!!

@MamaG: I had only seen the first post from today when I saw comments from here, and didn't realize there was a new post. Definitely heartbreaking to see the newest update and really hoping things get better for him.

One thing I am thankful for is that we have such an active Dec group! I know it's not much we physically do but a dozen more people praying/thinking of them is better than none! You all are the best

Sorry if I was a B on FB.. I just don't think any of us can understand what mrs scallop is going through.. I apologize my heart breaks for her
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: No, you are right. If anything it puts things in perspective for me. My issues of poor sleep and spit up seem so insignificant. I've told her before that I admire her, I can't imagine that I would be handling this as well as she seems. I'd have lost my shit long ago. I'm pretty sure that person isn't from here, and I wonder if they actually mistyped?
eggplant / 11861 posts
It is awful I think prayers move mountains....
I agree with you@MamaG: it truly makes you thankful and the little issue are truly not even issues at all
She is a brave women and the fact that she even takes time to update "basic" strangers is beyond me!
I know more prayers and thoughts the better!!!
