We're headed to the Cape for the weekend for my grandmother's memorial service. Chatham is totally my happy place so I'm really looking forward to it but I wish I didn't have to bring a fussy, teething baby or a tantruming toddler with us I already feel stressed out and emotional about speaking at the service, etc. Packing for the whole family and knowing that Jack is crazy fussy lately just gives me so much anxiety! Plus worrying about sleep while we're there! Aaah!

@MrsF: It sure is!!!!!! I feel like I failed her because she doesn't know what to do? I mean she HAS never put herself to sleep in crib, but can at night in pnp and will sleep in stroller or carseat!
It breaks my heart she gets so tired eyes red, rubs them like crazy but the minute I pick her up to head to her room, she knows and flips a lid!
She is the most sweetest baby, but man does she know what she wants and is so smart and with that comes a HUGE personality and stubburness!!!
I feel like maybe once we go to crib at night soon, she might be better!
I'm sorry glad you could go outside, and let DH handle it!

@MrsF: I hope the kids will behave for you! Maybe a change of scenery will actually make things better! Will be thinking of you

@FaithFertility: I am so sorry! Honestly I now just don't expect her whole first year to be great! They are always working on a new skill and developing something and probably still growth spurting! Hang in there!

@winniebee: I think Ethan is eating about the same? Nursed at 5&6 (one side ea. so saying 5 oz), 2- 5 oz at daycare, nurse at 5:30, 8:30, 1, so 15 oz. There and then cereal at noon and food at night.

@FaithFertility: Sorry. Once we sleep trained Ethan in the crib at night, naps were great. Now when he gets fussy I can just put him in the crib and he will go to sleep. There is hope! Prior to that I nursed to sleep or we used the swing so had no good habits started.
E had a party in his crib last night from 1:30-2:30... Was hoping he'd go back to sleep but was having to much fun sucking on his toes!
Big sis left this am for Florida to stay with her mom for the summer. She was so much help with E in the evenings this will be a whole new ballgame for me! DH doesn't get home till after 8 most nights.

Ryan was up at least 5x last night so I brought him to doc to rule out ear infection. One ear red and irritated but not bulging. Probably virus related and not bacterial. She called in ammox in case he gets worse we will have it. He is 14 lbs 6 oz a few days shy of 6 months. That's 9 lbs gained since birth not bad.

@MrsF: se good luck! I hope they surprise you and are super well behaved.

@josina: Aww yean I'd say it helps to have an older sis around for sure! And I am so sorry about the midnight party... K has those too on & off! They suck!
@winniebee: oh man! You guys need a break! But through it all, he's growing so well, so good job mama!
K was down to eating 6 times a day (reduced night wakings) but now that she wakes up more she's back to eating 7-8 times a day, plus her 1 solid meal at dinner with us.

I just described her poop to the doctor as "it's like toothpaste coming out" hahaha. She poops less now, and it is exactly like toothpaste and it's stinkyyyyyy!
So doctor said she should prob eat some cereal (we've only been doing veg & fruit) so get iron.. So any baby cereal have iron in it?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: yeah most of them are iron fortified. I use earths best.

So pumping right now and I have pink milk on the left side!? Nothing hurts or is sore. Eek! Do I need to be worried or just wait it out?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: I think it's okay! Maybe there was just a spot you didn't noticed bruised? I've seen on FB group people have pink and even blue-ish milk?! They said as long as it tastes/smells fine it's fine

@winnibee: e has been chugging a ton lately too. i ended up feeding her at 3am last night after she was still awake and making some noise after 30 minutes. during the day, she usually nurses 5x (7a, 10a, 1p, 4p, and 6p or thereabouts depending on nap times), and has been going to town on her solids at breakfast and dinner too. i have no idea how much she gets per time nursing, especially since she is still weird about bottles. if i had to guess, i'd say she's doing 5-6oz a time? but when i give her a bottle, i rarely do more than 3oz at a time in case she doesn't take much and i have to dump the remainder.
my babysitter has a 4 month old and she said he took NINE ounces of bf from a bottle the other night...and was looking for more!!

@josina: that must have been nice to have some help from big sister and hard to see her go!
@winniebee: nice weight gain! That's an awful night though Glad you have an Rx in case.
@snowjewelz: I think all baby cereal is iron fortified. I asked our pedi if we should give it because jack is BF (we didn't with M but she was FF). The ped thought he was ok without it though. Sometimes I think they're all just guessing
@josina: I've heard people talk about that before and said it's fine!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: haha seriously! he said they won't check her blood for iron deficiency till 10 months!

@MrsF: Sorry for your loss.
M was sooooo fussy last night. Kept waking up every hour or two crying for awhile. If he kept it up, I was ready to give him Tylenol in case it was teething related. (He's never that fussy at bedtime). Today we went to the zoo & he slept most of the time, so hopefully he's feeling better. I hate not knowing if it's teething, sleep regression, growth spurt or what! lol

@KayKay: 9 is crazy!! Ryan will pound 7 but that's the most that has ever been in a bottle!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@josina: Aww I am sure you guys will miss her and she will miss you, Florida is a fin place for summer though!
Pink milk...... huh??? I have heard of blue!
@winniebee: Glad you got some Rx incase! Poor guy!
@AngelicOne: I hate not knowing, we had a few nights like that last week
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@AngelicOne: I agree! I think I can rule out teeth since doc said they haven't erupted, but then who knows if they can still bother her as they're brewing inside?!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: @MrsF: Well, milk was fine my last pumping session, so good to go I guess. Just surprising to look down and see pink milk! I read its okay to feed him but I think I'll still dump it. Yucky.
So nice to be able to come to the bee with issues like that and get answers right away!
@AngelicOne: Aww, poor guy, hopefully tonight is better! Did he get to see any animals or sleep the whole time? Ethan was so fun at the zoo, he's at the stage where he wants to touch everything, so petting zoo was the best.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: I was like wait, what? So google led me to 35 home remedies with breast milk... http://www.simplyrealmoms.com/posts/33-uses-for-breast-milk/
I had used it for Ethan's clogged duct and it cleared it right up. Maybe I'll try it in my face mask... Very interesting!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: you could freeze it into a Popsicle or ice cubes for a teething treat for him

@MrsF: good luck and so sorry to hear about your grandma. I actually had to fly back home with A a week before our originally scheduled back home for my grandma's funeral and I was so glad I left our older girl with DH. It was a long day and so emotional for me that I think it would've been too much for her. I wore him in the Ergo and stood in the back so he could sleep.
honeydew / 7444 posts
@winniebee: I'm so sorry Ryan keeps getting sick! It's the worst because it affects sleep so much!
@snowjewelz: I always thought they bothered the the most BEFORE they erupt?

I don't want to jinx it but sleep training without the checks has been so much easier
Here's what our night looks like so far:

Also, if they put themselves in a weird position in their crib, do you risk waking them by moving them or leave them?
Here's what I mean
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: are his feet sticking between slats? I typically stay the heck out of Ks room these days when she is asleep
pomelo / 5298 posts
I'd be tempted to move him. We have a crib liner so that can't happen because K would get pissed when that happened.
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@whenoceansrise: Glad its working for you tonight! I would move him just cuz I'd be afraid he'd hurt himself. E will wiggle around and get sideways in the crib so his head is bumping the side.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: he didn't cry long at all... Yay!! I wouldn't go in! Hope the rest of the night was good!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: glad it went so much better!! I never move Ryan. The sleep book I read by weissbluth said don't move the baby because then they won't learn how to get themselves out of positions they don't want to be in. That said since it was Micah's first night in the crib I probably would have moved his leg.
