@winniebee: You made it six months, which is more than most! You have to do what's best for your family, and that's not always breast feeding. If it's making you miserable or making you feel like you're not able to be as good of a parent as you want, then it's probably not worth it!

I suck at updating but have been reading. Here's our update: No teeth, still EBF, she refuses bottle (when I give her a bottle she slaps it away and lunges for my boob), distracted eater YES, especially when your brother is hilarious, no words but she is obsessed with talking and blowing bubbles, we are officially cruising. She has given up on crawling, she lunges where she needs to go, puts herself in sitting position, pulls up and crusies. Exciting news- ears pierced today!! Very exciting news- B in camp 3 days this week!!

@BandDmommy: I can't believe D is cruising. Logan's not even really rolling yet!!

@BandDmommy: Where did you get her ears done? We waited until just shy of 12 months to do C's ears and will probably do the same with K. She seems to mess with her ears for comfort when she's tired.

@winniebee: You are amazing for making it this far with such a strict diet! And if there is so much that is affecting him, maybe formula will be better for him as far as spit up? Don't feel guilty AT ALL!!
@BandDmommy: Wow to mobile baby already! We are no where near crawling yet. All E wants to do is sit.
nectarine / 2210 posts
@winniebee: I have to echo the others... Considering your restricted diet, along with the lack of sleep, the fact you've gone 6 months is amazing. While I'd understand if part of you may want to keep bf because you can, as long as you're still feeding him something and you're both happy that's really what matters!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: Oh. Our pediatrician won't do them. So Claire's it is for us. Which worked out just fine for C.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: I love seeing her standing pictures! She is the cutest and I love interactions with B
@winniebee: Dont feel guilty! You already made it 6 mo which is huge! But I totally feel you. Pumping is so hard these days due to a crazy work schedule, plus I hate pumping on weekends if we're out for a while since she can't nurse any other way than laying down. But I feel guilty so I just keep pumping away to somehow make it work but I'm so tempted to start adding in formula so I don't have to stress out so much about pumping!
@whenoceansrise: So amazing! I am so glad sleep training has gone smoothly! K's sleep kinda sucks, but we discussed it and we're still not quite ready for sleep training...
@Adira: Ugh, so annoying! Sometimes if she doesn't wanna eat then I'm like fine! Then don't eat, lol!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I had a horrible weekend! First I had migraine the whole time. Then somehow I got a fever. It reaaally sucks when you're so sick but you have no choice but to solider on b/c you have a kid!
Then our neighbor threw some party Sat night, and blasted music from like 8pm to 3am. K DID NOT SLEEP from 12-3am. We had the window shut, white noise as loud as we can bare, but it just won't mask the bass/thumping. DH went over twice to ask them to turn it down, they ignored him (I don't know if they really didn't care, or were drunk...) We were SO close to calling the cops. There are families with children all over, I don't know how no one else complained!? And the kicker is, they have a kid too! How did that kid sleep? Or he didn't!? They've always been like this. As soon as summer comes, they pretty much live outside and play music/tv out very loud but we never bothered with it before. And since K was born in Dec we haven't had this issue at all and they haven't been that crazy.

@MamaG: it's so hard for me to keep Micah's nails trimmed. He almost always scratched himself and he doesn't like it when I trim them!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@snowjewelz: That sucks all the way around! Being sick is no fun, and then noisy neighbors on top of it! I wanted to say I'd call the cops, but then you still have to live next to these people, so it'd be tough. But soo rude that they wouldn't turn it down that late at night! Are they younger?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: I have to sing a manicure song haha, and I file them after cutting too b/c she scratches herself too! And I swear they grow back in an hour!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: Around our age, I think... Their boy is def elementary school age. I feel like if anyone calls the cops they'll prob think it's us
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@snowjewelz: Wow, I definitely would've called in a noise complaint!!! Sorry you had to deal with that. I hate it when people don't respect their neighbors.
pear / 1961 posts
@winnibee: what about trying formula for a couple days (while still pumping) to see how R reacts? if minimal spit-up, that might be enough to ease any guilt you have and if still spitting up, you can at least make the choice that is best for you then, even if it seems to make no difference for him.
@snowjewelz: i'd be pissed! you're a much nicer person than me, apparently
E hasn't even been waking up in the MOTN anymore (not that I was doing anything for her when she did, but her talking would wake me up!), so I have had some seriously good sleep. She also took 7oz from a bottle for the babysitter yesterday at her mid-morning feed. I'm excited that she seems to be reasonably over the bottle strike since I leave in 2 weeks and will be gone for a week!

@FaithFertility: sounds like a great night!! We have tried a sippy. He is a little skeptical, and not really drinking from it, but he doesn't hate it. So, who knows. Ha.
@winniebee: don't feel guilty!! You made it 6 mo, and as long as he's being fed, doesn't matter if it's from the boob or formula!
@BandDmommy: can't believe she is cruising already. Go, d, go!!
@snowjewelz: ugh that SUCKS. I definitely would have called the cops!
So, h is just barely 'eating' solids. Haha. I have given him some avocado, and some sweet potatoe purée. He kind of doesn't really like it? I think the purée kind of makes him gag a little, or maybe it's just the new taste and texture that he isn't liking. Is he weird? I've only given it a few times,so maybe it's just new and different?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: I don't even think it's a nice vs not nice scenario! We were just so tired and kept hoping it would end soon. I think we just didn't want to call the cops b/c we don't want to strain the non-existent relationship we have with them, and we don't want them to retaliate!
Where are you going? Hope it's for fun!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: For some it can take a while! Even though K is obsessed with food, she makes a face whenever she eats something new too.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
Oh and did I mention.. On Sat during the day... I was trying to hang out with K in the backyard (they're already blasting music). Then I hear "b*tch better have my money".... Thank goodness K can't comprehend! I'm so out of touch with music, I googled it and realized it's a real song by Rihanna

@snowjewelz: headed to Paris for my best friend's wedding! DH can't go (work!) and my mom is coming to help with the girls during the day since his hours are crazy. I'll get to see a bunch of friends I haven't seen for a year...plus, you know...PARIS...so I'm pretty excited. And also super anxious to leave E! I didn't have any overnights away from K until she was 18 months.
@theotherstark: we started a few solids with E just after 5 months, and there were a LOT of funny faces and gagging and not much real interest. It's only been a month, but she chows down now! Totally normal.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@KayKay: Wow, amazing!! Reunion and Paris and wedding... Sounds like a SATC episode haha! It's def nerve wrecking to leave the kids tho!

@winniebee: I wouldn't feel guilty about it. 6 months is a great milestone and I can't believe you've been able to endure such a restrictive diet. Have you tried giving him formula yet or will you do EP?
@Adira: I had a milk blister and I would go crazy whenever someone made a noise and A would rip his head back due to the distraction. Paaain!!!
@theotherstark: A turned 6 months last week and I've barely given him solids. He doesn't have much interest in it and I don't want to push him. So different from his older sister!
@KayKay: so jealous - hope you have a good time!
It's been almost 1.5 months of green diarrhea like poop. We have been giving him probiotics but no change so far. We thought it was related to the stomach virus from last month but how can it continue this long?? And diaper changes at night are so gross. A part of me wonders if it's just a milk imbalance?
He is still a chunkster over 20lbs. He is mainly sitting up and loves playing with toys but not really into rolling. He gets mad when he finds himself on his belly. No real stranger anxiety either- a good thing since we are visiting family right now.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Freckles: 20 lbs!! What a chubster What did the ped say about the poop? I think I read that green poop is okay but if it's mucosy then it means they're intolerant of something...
K's poop is like toothpaste now. Once or twice it even came out as an actual poop (albeit very soft). lol!
honeydew / 7444 posts
@snowjewelz: he has been 20lbs for a while now. Haha. The ped thought it was gastroenteritis related and same with another ped I saw here at a walkin clinic. We have an appointment with my reg ped next week so we will see what he says. I may make an appointment at the breastfeeding clinic too.

@snowjewelz: ugh- sorry about your weekend. i would have been so annoyed and probably would have called in a noise complaint if they ignored me. and i feel you on bad language- my mom and grandparents have really bad mouths and i told them they have to watch what they say around micah when he gets older because it's so not cute when a toddler says cuss words
@theotherstark: same here with solids. m gags and spits it out... kind of acts like he doesn't know how to swollow it. i'm just assuming he's just not ready yet
as far as sleep training goes.. last night it only took him 3 minutes to fall asleep after i laid him in the crib. seriously can't believe this! i guess though until this becomes a regular thing for him we'll have to skip wednesday night church in order to get him in bed in time because on wednesday nights we usually don't get home until around 9:00 and everything i've been reading about says to stay consistent.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: i also agree with everyone else here- you do what works best for you!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@snowjewelz: @Freckles: @KayKay: @whenoceansrise: thanks, ladies. Glad to hear it is normal I'm only giving him a few spoonfuls once a day. He actually does fine half the time, and gags and spits it out the rest of the time. Silly babe. Maybe I'll skip a few days to give him some more time, in case he isn't quite ready.
@whenoceansrise: so great sleep training is working so well!!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: Micah is doing so great! You must be so happy I agree with skipping church just this once at least for sure!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@theotherstark: Gagging is good.. It's what will keep them from choking so it's good that he is using the reflex! I get so nervous whenever she gags and have to remind myself that it's normal. DH gets all crazy everytime thinking she's choking!

Thanks ladies. I'm probably just venting. But what I think I may do is start giving nutramigen formula before bed and still pump and then he can have a bottle during the day / build up my stash a little so I don't feel so much pressure to nurse all the time (at 6 months he still eats every 2/2.5 hrs). Since I am pretty sure he reacts to dairy we have to go with an elemental formula and it's double the price and that's definitely a factor. And maybe just set a next new goal of 7 months. I really want to eat whatever the hell I want for my 35th birthday. Hell almost be 8 months then though.

We got back from the Cape last night and still unpacking. I've read through everyone's updates but I'm way too far behind to comment. The kids actually did pretty well with the travel. J had his fussy moments but it was great to have family around for support. We went on a long walk one evening to try to chill him out and my aunts and cousins took over and wouldn't even let me push the stroller. It's nice to give up the reins every once in a while Both of the kids did amazing during the memorial service on Saturday. DH said that J was looking everywhere when I was speaking from the pulpit and my voice was coming from all of the speakers
Both kids even did pretty well on the sleep front in close quarters and a noisy, full house. I of course had too much wine each night and went to bed too late to take advantage of their good sleep, but it was nice to socialize and not be in mommy-mode all the time. My parents always talk about sneaking us out of the vacation house at 5am so that the rest of the family members wouldn't wake up and having coffee on the beach watching the sun rise with the kids - exactly what I was doing this weekend. Circle of life, I suppose!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: I don't think there's ever a *bad* reason to switch to formula if that's what works best for you guys! That being said, you've made it 6 months and with lots of restrictions - do whatever makes you happy!
In hindsight I have lots of excuses, but with M I pretty much stopped nursing just because I didn't want to do it any more. The only reason I'm continuing with J is because it feels easiest. I suppose if I had unlimited funds I might switch to Nutramigen (and maybe even pump?) just to see if it make a difference. I'm just being cheap!

@MrsF: Aww, sorry about the circumstances, but the Cape sounds amazing. Love that J was looking around for mommy! And sitting on the beach watching the sunrise; glad that you got some adult time in!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: Aww this is great! Glad you had a good weekend with them, despite what it was for!
@winniebee: I'm totally tempted to start feeding her 1 bottle of formula too to save more milk to stretch out the time she will get breastmilk! My supply is juuuust okay (sometimes not enough) and I barely just make enough, let alone extra to freeze now
nectarine / 2210 posts
@snowjewelz: K does the too. Her first bite of anything she makes a face as if she was expecting milk and has no idea what we're torturing her with. But by the second bite she seems to start liking it and actually does a good job at swallowing.

@whenoceansrise: good job Micah! It's pretty awesome that he's come so far so quickly.

@snowjewelz: Awful weekend, man I am so sorry! Poor K with no sleep and POOR mama being sick!! Those neighbors are lucky..... cops would have been called for sure!
@BandDmommy: She is such a little mighty mouse! Love all her IG pictures!
@winniebee: I agree with the crowd, do what makes you happy!!
@KayKay: Glad the bottle strike seems to be over, ohh
Paris how fun!!! My sister is getting married there in December..or well eloping Have a blast!!!!
@Freckles: We have green poop time to time, although now I blame the peas Yay to no strange danger....G is definitely septic of new people.... men for sure
@whenoceansrise: I am so impressed! Micah is a rockstar!!!!!
@MrsF: Glad you had a good trip!!! Sounds peaceful with family, I love the ocean always calm!!!!
