Does anyone else's baby do feats of strength? D will grab the heaviest thing she can find and then try to stand up and walk carrying it.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: haha! their strength amazes me! I'd always be like nah she can't hold that with one hand and then I stand corrected!

Will have to respond when he goes down for a nap...i had to pick him right after posting bc he had diarrhea 3x in 2 hours. He fell asleep in the stroller so I had to wait outside with him with a dead phone.

@Adira: I know, right? I have no idea why my child hates sleep!
nectarine / 2053 posts
@josina: Yes, every single time! His eyes pop open and he immediately stands up and holds on to the crib crying and watching the door waiting for me to come in.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@whenoceansrise: Aww noo that would break my heart. I have no idea when we'll co-sleep till but that's another problem for another day, lol. Maybe just TRY cosleeping for one night? It won't ruin him since he now cries in the crib anyway?
pomelo / 5298 posts
@whenoceansrise: Does he have a lovey or a pacifier? Are you nursing him at night?
And I'm sorry, bad sleep is hard.

Matthew wore some socks when we were in MN that actually stayed on his feet, but I have no clue what brand they are because they came from my mom (from my lil brother 5 yrs ago lol).
This kid wants to go so so much these days! He is not happy unless he is standing or walking with our help. He pulls himself on everything nowadays too.
nectarine / 2053 posts
@snowjewelz: I kind of don't want to because I like to have my own space when I sleep!
@MamaG: He's never taken either. I've tried several times but he hates the paci and has never attached to a lovey.

@Freckles: ughh this week has been awful at her sitters between the time change and I think her teeth, her naps have been terrible! If DH picks her up he usually gets her by 2:30/3 and if she had awful naps he will put her down for a catnap!
Unfortunately if I pick her up I don't get her until 4:45/5 so I keep her up and try to do bed at 7!
She is asleep already as today was a crap day I am sending her with Tylenol tomorrow, I hate this crap!
She is not herself at all very whiny and clingy and only wants Mama!!!
@whenoceansrise: ohhhh I am so sorry! Poor Mama! I pray Micah figures it out, it is so hard!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: Yes, she tried to pick up her pumpkin daily....lol
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@whenoceansrise: Definitely try again! Are you nursing every wakeup? If so, Ferber seems to work well - lay him back down, shhhh, and leave and go back in at a greater interval.
@BandDmommy: Glad she's gaining well!
@MamaG: noooo!

Both boys have had junky coughs / been sick this week. I just got an email from Ty's school saying that strep is going around the early childhood rooms (toddler and kindergarten....nothing in preschool yet). They aren't too cranky and are eating and drinking ok so I'm not inclined to bring them in....yet.
pomelo / 5298 posts
Oddly enough C never had croup (yet) so I'm inexperienced. K and Dad are at the after hours clinic to get a diagnosis.

@winniebee: Hope it skips your kiddos, and their coughs go away!

@MamaG: ugh B gets the worst croup. It's so scary. Last time he got it he had to go to the emergency room. Hopefully they have mild case.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@BandDmommy: J was crawling away with my weights while I was doing 30day shred this morning. Feats of strength indeed!
@FaithFertility: Ugh - I hope it's teeth! That always seems like the preferable answer to me.
@winniebee: I hope your boys are feeling better quickly! Both of my kids have slightly junky eyes (gross), but it's so minor and I'm just refusing to go to the pediatrician AGAIN.
@MamaG: I hope it passes soon! One of my nephews gets horrible croup and it's so scary. All I know is that alternating hot steamy showers and cold night air is helpful (you know, as if you don't have access to google and need my advice )
honeydew / 7283 posts
@whenoceansrise: I couldn't handle cosleeping either. My tiny dog jumps into the bed over night and I get freaked out.

@whenoceansrise: h does the same thing with standing up and crying right away I'm sorry. Horrible sleep is the pits.

@FaithFertility: Ethan has been the same the past 2 days... whiny and wants to be held, but then doesn't... he had a massive blow out this morning (and after talking to daycare hadn't had a dirty diaper in awhile) so hopefully that was it. Lucky for me daddy was up with him (5:30 again) and got to change that one.
Hopefully G feels better soon!
@MamaG: Oh no to Croup! What was the verdict after the drs office?
@winniebee: Hopefully that strep stays far away from their rooms! I know it was going around here a couple months ago.
Knock-on-wood Ethan hasn't been sick in a long time! I think we earned it after that last 5 months of non-stop dr. visits!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
The sickness doesn't stop, ah! Sending hugs to everyone!
I feel so bad for K's congestion! I'm going out to get the Vick's plug-in thing that my friend recommended. She woke up a couple times grumpy (but 2 times were before I went to bed). Woke up at 5:30 and I held her till 6:30 but she could barely sleep. I wish she'd sleep in later since she doesn't nap at daycare till almost 11! I don't know how she makes it 5 hrs.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: K is super clingy these days too! I kinda love it, but also kinda don't, haha.
@MrsF: Haha that made me laugh! I guess I like co-sleeping even before kids then? I used to let our dog up on the bed! But she's not very cuddly so she sleeps at the foot of the bed
@MamaG: I hope she's okay!!
@winniebee: Oh no! Hope they're in the clear!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: ughh yes! G stays up at daycare too 4-5hrs?!?! I am shocked because weekenfs she is out by 3 he's in the am!
@snowjewelz: @josina: Yep clingy here too! Love/hate relationship with that...lol

@mrsf: @banddmommy: oh man, yes to carrying big/heavy things! yesterday at music class, E picked up this drum that was about 2/3 the size of her and was insistent on carrying it around. Mind you, she doesn't even walk yet, so it was pretty much pick it up, fall down & push it, pick it up...over and over. Baby weight lifting!
I'm flying solo to visit my parents this weekend with the girls. Here's to hoping we're not too much of a hot mess for the 90 minutes we're constrained to two tiny seats
nectarine / 2053 posts
@winniebee: not every time, but most times! i'm thinking about trying again this weekend. if i don't chicken out!
@snowjewelz: aww poor k! hope she feels better soon!
pomelo / 5298 posts
No croup for K. Just a really bad cold. And since she has RSV at about 9 weeks, colds are likely to impact her more which includes wheezing and respitory issues. She's on breathing treatments and prednisone. She slept okay (I did not!) and right through her two treatments overnight. Just called to check on her at daycare and she seems to be doing okay today, her cough is pretty junky but otherwise okay.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MamaG: great that she slept through! sorry that mommy didn't. I hope she recovers soon! Winter needs to be over before it even starts officially!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@KayKay: Brave mama! I hope your trip goes well. At least it's not super long!
@MamaG: Glad it's not croup and that she slept well. I had forgotten about her RSV. I hope that you BOTH get some sleep tonight!

I just found out this morning that the man who was my swim coach all through high school was arrested for sexual assault (one of whom was a minor). The article is really vague but I just feel so unsettled about it. I never felt threatened by him and as far I know none of my friends did. I guess it just reminds me that we're sending out children out into a scary world My parents were great and very protective and I still spent a lot of time with this person... in a bathing suit. Never alone, but still.
Sorry - kind of a downer here.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: that sort of news sucks and I find it really bothers me now that I have my own kids. Our world is a scary place.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@MrsF: Ugh, that sucks. It's good that you never felt that by him, but just sucks to find out something like that.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@MamaG: yeah. I find that I really look at everything through such a different lens as a parent.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@MrsF: ugh so horrible! I love watching law&order SVU and I think about this stuff all the time!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@KayKay: Best of luck!!!
@MamaG: Glad she seems OK! Hope she gets better quick!!!!
@MrsF: Sucks! So scary! DH sees so much bad in world every day I think that is why he is so cautious!!
Sorry!!!

Anyone else have dare devil babies?! G I think is testing out cause and the effect....
She will sit put her hands up and lean back as if to see how far she can go?! She also does like a downward dog move and tries to lift up one leg?!?...lol
Weirdo!
