I haven't asked a sleep question in forever - but Ryan is on 2 naps still. He's been very sick the past 3 days, high fever and a cold. His naps today have been awful (half hour this morning) and maybe one hour this afternoon (12-1). Would you try for a third nap? Or just put him to bed at 6? He usually goes to bed at 7:30.

@winniebee: early bed time.. I don't think we've ever done 3 naps b/c then she'd be up so late!

So I am also concerned with sleep!?
G on a good day sleeps 1.5 hrs ALL day at her sitters like 12-1:00/1:30
Then bed at 7!
I just feel that it isn't enough! I keep going off of the fact that she is a happy girl 90% of the time... I'd try early bedtime but after dinner clean up bath the earliest would be 7 and her norm is 7:30 anyway!

@FaithFertility: How many hours of overnight sleep? The nap feels a little light to me. K typically takes about a 2 hour nap (sometimes up to 2.5 hours) and she's sleeping 11.5-12 hours overnight.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: My older son slept 12 or 12.5 hours total for a very long time (on two naps, 10 at night, 2 or 2.5 during the day). When he went on 1 nap he slept 10.5 or 11 at night, and 1.5 during the day. R seems to sleep a little more overall usually 10.5 or 11 at night (with an early morning 5 am waking) and usually 2-2.5 hours of naps total.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: K sleeps very little also. 10 at night and 2-2.5 hrs in naps.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: That is my theory, but then we have nights like last and I re think it ....lol
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Is she like that too when she's not at the sitter's?
eggplant / 11861 posts
@winniebee: Yea I always think of what you say about T and sleep, guess she is on the lower end too
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: No she will take a morning nap for us like at 9/9:30 for about 45 mins
Then nap at 1:30
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: Eh, but there's really nothing you can do but just to try to get her to bed as early as you can... I'm hoping K can start napping longer at daycare too! Right now she gets her 2nd nap since she gets picked up at 2.

What is with our babies?!? G cried all through dinner wouldn't touch her food even her favorites, but sucked down a pouch!
Cried as I tried to rock her but is rubbing her eyes so IDK, what is going on, I just put her in crib, she is crying, I'm crying
This blows!

@winniebee: poor kiddo Hope he went down okay and sleeps well. H tends to sleep less when he is sick too
@snowjewelz: sorry about the rash. Poor girl. Is it still bothering her?
@FaithFertility: aww, G!! Hope she sleeps okay tonight.

@FaithFertility: for a better sleep tonight! Those freak bad nights are so confusing!
@snowjewelz: Oh boy... I've heard benadryl can have that effect. At least now you know??
@josina: Glad he could settle himself eventually! Maybe the closed door isn't a bad idea... That's why I put the baby monitor on DH's side of the bed. He sleeps through the little stuff!
@MamaG: Aw - poor K! J is chewing desperately on everything too and is still acting completely bananas. Yesterday he was chewing on our brick fireplace surround! I feel so bad for him
@winniebee: Poor buddy I hope he's fever-free tomorrow!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: and yeah - I'd probably go for a (slightly) early bedtime too. Late naps make me nervous!
honeydew / 7283 posts
Anyone else *insanely* clingy lately?!? Maybe J is just crazy from the teething, but OMG. He is begging to be held all the time, although once I'm holding him he's like "oh good! please put me down on that bookshelf" or whatever. If I can keep this kid from diving down the stairs or something else it'll be a miracle.

@MrsF: soooo clingy the past few weeks. Wants to be held all the time.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
He went down at 615 but was up 20 mins later but seems out since then. Nervous he will be up at 430 for the day!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@MrsF: Yes, to the clingy. And as soon as I pick her up she's shoving off to get back down, wash, rinse, repeat.
Oh, and we've got a runner. Chase is officially a favorite pastime amongst the girls. It's always accompanied with screaming and laughing. I miss my days of peace and quiet. Love them dearly, but must they be so loud?

Uhh no Benadryl tonight and she still fought sleep till 9:30 again.... Ahhhhhh...
@FaithFertility: I'm so sorry, I totally feel you
@theotherstark: it must be?? or maybe the virus that is causing it? Ahhh I don't know! I want it to go away!!
@MrsF: yes; it's been like this for a while!!
@MamaG: oh my.. I can barely keep up with walking!
pomegranate / 3045 posts
@MrsF: yep - much clingier. But it also means he wants more hugs and random snuggles, so I'm okay with it Although not as fun when I am cooking dinner.
@winniebee: hope he sleeps in!!
@MamaG: ha. H's favorite thing is making a break as soon as I open our apartment door and running as fast as he can down the hallway. He usually runs everywhere instead of walks. It's a little exhausting!
@snowjewelz: aw man

@winniebee: M sleeps from 7:30pm - 7:30am (though he will stay in his PnP playing/talking until 7:30am if he's up earlier) and he takes 2 -3 30-45 min naps during the day still. (though today he took a 40 minute nap & then slept on me for an hr & 15 min afterwards).
@MrsF: That describes M to a T. LOL Wants to be held, so I pick him up then he dives for the floor 2 seconds later....rinse & repeat!

Sorry to hear about all the sick kiddos! Logan is sick too, so I feel you all.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MrsF: Yep!!!!! Stage 5 clinger I call her!!!
Well bed at 7:15 STTN until 6:45 this kid.....

Worst night ever!!! Ryan doesn't seem to have a fever today but if he has one I'll take him in.

Ugh - sorry so many kids (not babies anymore -- sadface) are sick! We seem to be runny-nosed but not too bad. At the moment.
eggplant / 11861 posts
@snowjewelz: Man I'm sorry! I also read that at this age separation anxiety at night So they fight going down or won't wind down?!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: Yikes! At least T is in school? Is R with the nanny or you've been with him since he's "sick"?
@FaithFertility: Haha, just when you said her sleep is crazy... Well, for us the problem is I don't know if the rash/virus is affecting her, or it's something else! So this crazy rash needs to go away first and then I need to see if she's still crazy about sleep!
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@MrsF: Yes to clingy, and he usually only wants me making it sooo hard to get anything done at home.
@MamaG: lol, Ethan loves to play 'come get me'.
@FaithFertility: Glad she still slept well for you.
@winniebee:
How are your babes eating? Ethan has been awful lately with supper at least, he snacks on grapes and crackers and even if I give him less of a snack, he barely touches supper before he starts throwing it to the floor. I'm worried he's not getting enough! Last night was 5 grapes, a couple cheerios and a cracker, and then maybe 2 bites potatoes, a couple small pieces sausage and not many peas, he'd rather squish them. I don't want to just be feeding him grapes but thats all he wants to eat!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@josina: K gets obsessed with one food and it's all she wants to. She generally is still a good eater... We did have that stint where she didn't want to sit in the high chair but we resolved it mostly by playing music. She drinks milk before bed so if I feel like she didn't have much dinner I'll give her more milk.
K can totally exist on cheese, tangerines, grapes, blueberries, etc haha!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: Both kids are with the nanny today; I'm working. T started his new school new our new house yesterday and they only had space for him T, Th, so he's just going 2 days. Part of the perks of having a nanny = she still can watch the kids when they are sick!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: R is sick, but he seems to be entering a picky phase and thinks throwing stuff emphatically on the floor is hilarious (and his brother does too, unfortunately). He'd eat fruit all day if I let him. But remember they won't starve themselves. Once he starts chucking food, I say "Oh, you're telling me you're all done" and then I wipe his hands to get him down. At which time he starts grabbing for more food.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: phew, at least you can kinda get a breather from them even though it's with working!
honeydew / 7283 posts
@AngelicOne: @MamaG: This exactly! I could handle clingy, I suppose - but even once I pick him up he's fussing for something else!
We're going through a bit of a tough spell...
