@winniebee: I think we had a bug too. It was me, K and then DH, all diarrhea. Hope he doesn't get a bad rash!

@snowjewelz: oh he's already gotten a rash with a blister on his poor bum.

I've created a Ring around the Rosie Monster
All she wants ALL day!
Also she comes home from daycare and RUNS to her highchair demanding food!
Either we need more at her sitters or a snack before dinner, or dinner earlier!
Man she can eat at times!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: haha yes we play this nightly and she says "more" when I am about to fall over from dizziness. I sooo regret teaching her!!
pomelo / 5298 posts
@FaithFertility: We have the same food problem. What I don't understand is she gets (and eats!) a 5:00 snack at daycare. She gets home around 6:00 and is demanding to eat and will not let up. We have a hard time getting dinner on the table instantly.

@FaithFertility: oh it snows here every year, he's seen and played in snow. I'm just slack being prepared because we were having such a mild winter.

@MamaG: YES!!! When it is just me at night I have to have a crock pot meal already ready so I can serve the princess!!!...lol
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: Hahaha well you have a lot going on 1 yr old and PG!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@MamaG: she gets a snack at 3:30 and maybe she needs another?!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: Ryan usually has a 430-5 snack and is going bonkers for dinner too. And then throws half on the floor. Toddlers!

gah - I worked 12 hour shifts 3 days in a row and I've read everything but way too behind to reply.
...except to agree that my kids are freaking crazy for food by dinner time even on the days that their afternoon snack stretches to an hour before dinner! M whining and J crying and signing "more! more!" over and over again!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MrsF: D picked up the sign for "more" in like 1 day at daycare. Her teacher asked if we worked at home with her on sign language and I said no, she was surprised how quick she picked it up. But D LOVES to eat, so I'm not shocked.
No real changes here, D is getting over her first cold (aka first week of daycare cold). She is loving daycare. We are preparing for snowmagedon here. LOL.

@banddmommy: i can only imagine how crazy it is there right now, with just the threat of so much snow. we were in NC for 10 years, and it was ridiculous when they forecasted an inch! good luck!
E used to use "more" to mean "i want". now she just points to her mouth like "put something in here!" she basically walks around doing it all day. girl is a bottomless pit, especially if you are eating something you didn't plan on sharing with her.
also, this last week of sleep has been GLORIOUS. all of a sudden, E can be up til 7-730 most nights (extra playtime with dad most nights!), and she is sleeping til 730 most days. that extra hour in the morning has been life-changing. ok, not really that big of a deal, but it's pretty nice
and just to balance it out, K has been terrible with listening and being kind to her sister. if it's not one thing, it's another!? haha.

@KayKay: lol.. So is D! If she sees someone eating something she stalks them while signing "more, more." If that doesn't work she climbs in your lap and points at what you are eating and then signs "more."
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@KayKay: More means I want here, too! He just starts signing more like crazy if you have something he wants. Which is everything! Congrats on the sleep! Holy Grail!
pomelo / 5298 posts
We've started pointing and cry yelling when signing more does get what she wants. She's signing quite a bit. Im anxious for her verbal explosion but I don't think we will see it until closer to 18 months.

Awww, I've been trying to teach E more but not getting anywhere; he watches attentively but won't do it on his own.
He is definitely a food monster as well; our corner cabinet we can't lock and this morning he was helping himself to cheerios and crackers, luckily WITHOUT dumping them all over the floor this time. And he LOVES fruit cups, he had 1 with dinner and demanded another one after!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
K skipped the signing and just says "more" lol. But now everything is "more"! She also learned to say "water" (in Chinese) because she is always pointing at stuff during dinner and gets mad when we bring her the wrong thing and finally she was just like, "water!"

@josina: I've been showing Ryan 'more' forever and he just started doing it a few weeks ago! My first didn't catch on until 15 months or so!

@BandDmommy: I need to get to the store! I feel unprepared!! haha.
@KayKay: glad the sleep is going well!
@winniebee: poor Ryan! hope he feels better soon.
I think my kid is the only one who isn't a food monster. Although he does go nuts demanding blueberries when he sees them in the fridge.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
BTW, Ryan is obsessed with coloring with crayons. My older didn't take an interest in "art" until much later. It's so cute and surprising!

@BandDmommy: I think someone already answered your question about what you need for playing in the snow, but this is what we have for Xander: snow boots (Sorels), snow bib, winter jacket (Columbia), snow gloves (the kind that go up to the elbows), hat!
@winniebee: Sorry to hear Ryan is sick! Xander has a stomach bug of some kind too. Vomit and diarrhea. I had to change his sheets three times the other night!
@josina: We (and daycare) have tried teaching Logan "more" too. He signs it, but I don't think he knows what it means! I was feeding him and he kept signing more and then I'd offer him food and he'd just shake his head and not eat it!
@theotherstark: Logan's not a food monster either, though he drinks a ton of milk!! Is this the point where I should start offering food first??
So Logan has conjunctivitis. We had to keep him home from daycare yesterday. But other than that, he's a happy kid! Cruises everywhere. And is obsessed with his blanket. When I go to get him out of his crib, he just gathers his blanket up in his arms and carries it around wherever he goes.

@Adira: I have a lovey/blankie obsessor here too. Hope he feels better! I love his butt shaking dancing

Ugh, I ordered a snow bib and paid extra for delivery and I just got notification it won't arrive till monday.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: Ugh! Can you call them up and cancel it since it won't arrive in time??
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@winniebee: Ethan has the big egg-shaped crayons, but he'd rather try and eat them.
@FaithFertility: Just Dole fruit cups in either 100% fruit juice or water. I do have to cut the pears up smaller cuz they're a tad hard/bigger than I'm comfortable with.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: Ugh annoying!
I just picked one up from Target.. On clearance too! I didn't buy snow boots though.. They all seem so big (they are all S 5/6, and K is only 5). Plus they are so bulky I feel like she can't even walk in them?! Maybe I just spray her ugg-like boots with the water-proof stuff and call it a day. I can't imagine being out for THAT long with her anyway...
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
I highly recommend dragonfruit for LOs... I don't know if you guys ever had it. It's so easy to eat and so juicy but no too sweet! K loves them but I don't like them b/c I see all the "seeds" (they are edible) in her poop later
honeydew / 7283 posts
@BandDmommy: I bet the snow preparations are crazy! It looks like we're not supposed to get much from this storm in Boston. We'll see!
@KayKay: that extra hour of sleep would make such a huge difference! I feel like J only needs one nap but he's still waking up so early (5:30!) that he's, of course, exhausted by 9...
and yes to the "more" sign meaning "I want" like you and @winniebee: and @BandDmommy: said - I pretty sure that to J, it just means "GIVE ME THAT!". His "more" sign is more like clapping - it's pretty adorable
@snowjewelz: That's how M was. She was like "why would I bother to sign when I can just speak in full sentences??"
honeydew / 7283 posts
@winniebee: That's so cute - the little artist! J still just wants to eat the crayons.
Isn't it fun to see the differences in interests between the two kids? J is REALLY good at sort of fine motor tasks like building block towers and stacking rings on those ring stacking toys. He'll work on those things forever (which means 5 minutes in young toddler time, obviously). It amazes me because M never had the patience.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: whaat? ugh this is crazy. i'm not even watching till they finalize what's supposed to happen lol!
