@snowjewelz: it's definitely easier just to nurse. I'm just doing that once a week so he stays accustomed to taking a bottle.

@snowjewelz: Since you asked what happens when you fail your postpartum glucose... I've been referred to an internal medicine doctor for further evaluation. I should expect an appointment "soon". The nurse called me "pre-diabetic" and she didn't feel like my numbers were bad enough to require insulin. I still fully expect the new doctor to tell me to watch my diet and probably to monitor my blood sugar.

@KayKay: yes!!! I have had a few double naps including a 2 hour stretch yesterday. I feel like mother of the year when it happens!

@whenoceansrise: cutie! I basically eat as I normally do. The baby is still sleeping when I have breakfast with my toddler and I manage to scarf down lunch even if he's awake. Usually leftovers or a quick turkey sandwich. Dinner is usually something from the freezer stash , takeout, or tonight my husband cooked. I have cooked a few times when the baby has been napping in the late afternoon/ early evening. Honestly I hate hearing him cry but if he fusses it's not the end of the world. And with a toddler I don't have a choice of eating or not - he has to eat so I eat with him. Have you tried baby wearing?

@winniebee: you are super woman! I have a ring sling but I still haven't figured out how to use it. That thing will probably come in handy though!

@whenoceansrise: most definitely am not! But food is a priority! It's ok if he cries for a few mins while you throw lunch together

@whenoceansrise: I make breakfast and dinner. I usually just have sandwich for lunch. Breakfast is either smoothie or pancakes. Diner is fish or chicken with veggies and rice.

@FaithFertility: @snowjewelz: @winniebee: lots of good news on the weight front!! Nice work, ladies!
To add my own good news, we had H's one month appt today, and he has gained almost three pounds since his birth! He's now up to 10 lbs 8.5 oz. Such a chunker monker!!
@whenoceansrise: I always feel lie I'm stealing time to eat! We have some meals stocked up from this weekend -soup for lunch and I made waffles that I can just reheat for breakfast.
@FaithFertility: @snowjewelz: I keep putting off pumping for some reason. I need to just start!

@KayKay: so happy for you! The sun and the moon and the stars all aligned for those 90 mins lol!
@MrsF: hmm. Maybe I should too... If I did that I can go out to have me time for like 2+ hrs!
@MamaG: ugh. I would totally want to ignore them lol. I really do not need to go to more doctors and pay more co pays!
@whenoceansrise: you should find a local baby wearing group to join! I'm in one even though I don't wrap or use a ring sling. Micah is super cute! I've been blessed.. Since DH is the one that cooks anyway and when my mom is here she does. I actually eat extra well bc in Chinese culture I have to eat specific snd nutritious things to help my body heal these few months.

@theotherstark: woo on the weight gain!!
I think its bc we know its not urgent and nursing 2-3 hrs apart every day and night is tiring enough!

@snowjewelz: good idea! I've watched a few YouTube videos but still haven't totallu figured it out yet
@FaithFertility: aww! Adorable!

Oh my gosh girls, I can't keep up with this thread!!!
@winniebee: Awesome weight gain for R!! So glad that breastfeeding is working out for you this time around! That's interesting about how different the doctors are. I think it's encouraging that he doesn't want you to just eliminate all dairy and stuff, but I don't blame you for wanting to cut some of it out to see if it helps.
@FaithFertility: Wow! An ounce a day is awesome!! Nice job!! And she is so precious!!
@whenoceansrise: I'm not really eating the healthiest, so not sure you'll want to follow my example, but for breakfast I usually have cereal, oatmeal, or a bagel. Lunch is usually a panini with chips. And then dinner varies, but my husband is home to help cook that. And your son IS a cutie!! I hope he sleeps well for you tonight!
@KayKay: YAY for the double nap!!!
@theotherstark: Wow!!! 10+ lbs is awesome!!! Nice job!!
As for bottles and pumping, we've only given Logan one bottle once and he took it just fine and went back to breastfeeding just fine. I need to give him another one though and more consistently just to ensure he's used to them before daycare. As for pumping, I've actually been pumping in the middle of the night like a crazy person... whenever Logan does his longer sleep stretches, I feel like I need to pump before the next feeding or it'll affect my supply. I've been getting great output in the middle of the night though! I have 50 oz in the freezer already.

@Adira: dang girl! Pumping in the middle of the night. You rock! I pump during B& D nap time
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: amazing job with the pumping! It's so hard to find time to pump with both kids at home. Maybe I should be doing MOTN. I was proud of my 30 oz
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: @MrsF: I started pumping in the MOTN because when Logan does a longer stretch of sleep, he tends to only nurse from one side and then the other side feels engorged (he usually nurses both sides every feed), so I started pumping. And being able to get 4-5 oz before I even start the day is addicting, haha.
@BandDmommy: That's exciting!!! Is he excited for preschool?
@MrsF: I don't even try to pump on the weekends when both kids are home!! I just do the MOTN ones and that's it. During the week I try to pump after feeds, although I don't get much out after he eats during the day...

@whenoceansrise: I can barely maneuver my traditional carrier haha, those things def look complicated! But they look really comfortable for the baby
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: wow 50 oz! You are one dedicated mama! I don't know how I could pry myself out of bed to pump MOTN

Hi everyone! I had my baby Francis on his due date, December 28. It ended up being a very eventful labor, I got hellp syndrome and a mild placental abruption, but I am doing fine now and he was absolutely perfect from the first second. I can't believe I already have a 1 week old! I have been reading plenty while nursing but haven't yet mastered typing much (too impatient) but I have so many questions and stuff I've wanted to post here!
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@junebugsmama: congrats!!! That's a great pic of him smiling! I'm so glad you are doing ok at 1 wk pp!

@junebugsmama: Congratulations!! So glad everyone is doing well after such an exciting birth! Your little man is adorable!
Ugh, I was originally so excited at this MOTN wakeup because Logan had slept four hours, but after an hour of frustrated nursing and then another 30 minutes trying to get him back asleep before giving up, I'm not so happy. By the time I get back to bed, I'll have been up for two hours! I can only hope Logan will fall asleep on his own while I'm pumping...
pomegranate / 3973 posts
@Adira: Props to you for MOTN pumping. I would be in the f it camp after that! Ethan's not sleeping too well tonight either, 2-1/2, 50 min, and 1-1/2. I had been finally getting some 3 hr stretches and was hoping I'd get a repeat of the 4 hr stretch I got today, no dice. But at least he always goes right back to sleep for me, or if not will quietly lay in his RnP until he does fall asleep.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@Adira: my night has been longer too bc she keep pooping! It must be the growth spurts causing them to be so fussy?
@josina: it is my dream for K to lay anywhere quietly till she falls asleep!!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@junebugsmama: congrats!
This STTN is freaking me out. another long stretch of 6+ hours.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@josina: I though about not pumping, but he only had a little to eat from my left side and it still felt pretty full so I was afraid to go back to bed without draining it. Luckily Logan did fall back asleep on his own while I wad pumping. Sorry to hear about your night though. Those short slept stretches are hard!
@snowjewelz: I have no idea! Logan is due for a growth spurt, but he isn't eating more often so I don't think he's having one yet. I actually think he might be so fussy because of his latch. I need to just call a lactation consultant already and stop putting it off.

Sleep here is so inconsistent. We have excellent nights followed by challenging ones. It's like the excellent nights are just a tease. Tonight is poor.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Last night was horrendous. Horrendous. He slept 1 hour then 2 more on dad. Then up for two hours wouldn't settle. Then slept 2. Then 1.5. Then 1. I've been up since 545 because my sick (again) toddler woke himself up 1.5 hours early coughing.
I just don't remember it being so bad with my first. I'm going to my moms (1.5 hrs away) in a few days to recover. She will get up with the baby and help entertain my toddler. My husband can only do so much with his schedule. I feel bad complaining since I know I'm lucky to have a healthy baby who is beyond sweet but man....prolonged sleep deprivation is debilitating.

Our nights are actually pretty consistent. She's normally up around 12, 3:30, and 6. It's days that are far less predictable.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@josina: I'm sorry sleep is rough right now for you too. I guess we will get rest in 2016
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BandDmommy: good luck today!! T goes back to school after two weeks off. I have a 930 eye appt but otherwise I'm going to NAP when the baby naps. What a novel idea! And pump. I need to pump a bottle or two if my mom is going to help me later this week.
