@josina: I saw the her reference and was confused lol
For those asking what to do at meal times or how to cook I highly recommend baby wearing. I just got a ktan and used it for the first time while making dinner. No fussing happy baby and then he fell asleep in it. Ktan FTW.

@winniebee: I am still on this dang MOby....lol
It just feels weird!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@FaithFertility: it takes some getting used to for sure! Keep trying!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@BandDmommy: easy peasy. Watched one you tube while I was doing it and got it right.

@FaithFertility: they called you when you were still at the hospital?! Geez!

I am tempted to try a wrap too... The Becco seems to be too structured for this stage!

@banddmommy: i had some trouble with the ring sling last time, but i got the hang of it with E. and she looooves it. she is way more snuggly and always wants to be held, so it's been a godsend both around the house and when we are out at open gymnastics / library / other toddler activities. she likes the ergo too, but i love that the ring sling can be tossed in my purse just in case.

@adira: sounds like an administrative issue, but still annoying that it is affecting your getting paid! just what you need to worry about & deal with, right? ugh.
@snowjewelz: i think i've gotten all of my hospital bills -- ended up about $1500. still waiting on a couple of the pediatrician claims, and i have my 6 week follow-up tomorrow, so i'm guessing there will be one monster claim from my OBGYN after that!
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: @snowjewelz: @winniebee: @FaithFertility: @KayKay: Thanks ladies!! I'm so mad because it doesn't even make sense. The way our leave works is you have 12 weeks FLMA, which is unpaid, but concurrent with that is 6 weeks of STD, which IS paid. You have to use your sick/banked sick time first, but then you are still paid 70% of your pay, so even if I ran out of sick time, I should still be being paid for another week, and therefore NOT being unpaid. I just don't understand what is going on! Plus, even if I wasn't being paid STD, I still have 5 weeks of vacation time to use and you HAVE to use it before going unpaid. But when I logged onto our system to check my leave balances, it says 0 for everything!!! Where'd my vacation go????
@snowjewelz: I don't think I've gotten a bill yet... Or maybe I just haven't opened it yet, haha. I kind of throw all my mail in a pile and go through it at the end of the month.
@BandDmommy: So jealous of your freezer stash!! Though you've been pumping a lot longer than me, so I'll catch up hopefully.
honeydew / 7283 posts
@Adira: What a pain! I'm sorry you have to worry about that with so much else going on.
@BandDmommy: great freezer stash! I'm jealous! Maybe if J didn't want to be held every second of the day or I didn't have an attention-seeking toddler I'd have more than 30 oz
nectarine / 2210 posts
@snowjewelz: We had really good insurance in 2014, not so much for 2015, but I'm pretty sure the hospital for both of us was just $200. Unless we wind up receiving something else random in the mail which seems really unlikely.

Just got 4-1/2 he's by co-sleeping! We went to bed at 8 tonight with E in the r&p and he woke at 9:30, 11:30, 12:30 and 1:30... At 1:30 instead of nursing I laid him next to me and he slept till almost 5. Looks like I'm going to buy a sleeper for the bed so we can co-sleep sans worry, although now worried about getting him into a crib if he won't even sleep long In the r&p.

@BandDmommy: @snowjewelz: I have a Moby, which I bought at the instance of a friend who has four kids. It intimidated the hell out of me, but I quickly and easily learned the newborn wrap (takes me 30 seconds), and N LOVES it. Sometimes it's the only way he'll nap. I got mine on Amazon..:I picked a less popular color so it was a little cheaper ($35). Again, I had zero interest in a wrap (actually was pretty anti-wrap!) and now I use it daily. Hope you guys find a way to wear them that is good for you!

@ChiCalGoBee: I have a moby too. I did not like it though. Too much fabric. I just ordered a K'Tan.

@BandDmommy: So jealous of the sleep you're getting! How much does D eat during the day?
Xander just left for daycare and I got "Bye Mama! Bye baby!" from him. So sweet!

I have a k'tan from my shower and a moby from a friend who never took the time to figure out how to use it... Although I've yet to use either.
Also our daughter normally wakes up to eat around 4, 7:30, 12:30, 3:30, and 6, so when she instead woke up at 6 and 8:30 last night to eat we were skeptical how the rest of the night would go. Turns out, after the 830 wake up she was down till 230 and then 630. Much better schedule actually!!!
pomelo / 5660 posts
@Adira: she eats every 3 hours but then I feed her hourly starting at 6 pm until she goes to bed. That's so sweet about X!
@snowjewelz: she will be 8 weeks friday.

@josina: Yay, I too am looking into a co sleeper!
@ChiCalGoBee: I need your Moby advice.....it overwhelms me....lol
@BandDmommy: That is awesome :)))
We had an amazing night! G slept from 9:30-1
Then about 3 hr stretches! I fed her in bed laying down and she ate like a champ and just passes out, I put her in p&p after, but it was so nice to just lay there!!!!
I feel great today!
Going to pump as well today! Let the stashing begin!!!!
eggplant / 11861 posts
@BandDmommy: hmmmmm is that the key? Get them nice and full??? For STTN?
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@FaithFertility: do it! I'm pumping as we speak! DH decided to work from home today and my mom is here so I'm taking my time pumping and maybe a nice long shower later! I'd go out but its soooo bitterly cold today!

Anyone having some toddler sleep regression? C is almost 3.5 and has been a great sleeper most of her life. She's now struggling to fall asleep and is waking multiple times a night. She will lay in bed and call for us or cry. Last night (4:00) she was calling for us and when I went in to see what she needed, her response: "something to snuggle". While this is precious, she's not about 20 stuffed animals in her bed - but she wanted a specific one out of the basket in her corner. Then at 6:00 she was crying, DH went to check on her and when asked why she was crying, her response: I didn't get to eat dinner (she did!).
She will often ask to sleep in our bed during these night wakings as well. Or use the bathroom. Or a drink of water.
pomelo / 5660 posts
@MamaG: not sleep regression but B has had nightmares randomly lately. B will wake up hysterical yelling for daddy. DH will go in and give him a cuddle and he seems to be fine.
wonderful pomelo / 30692 posts
@BandDmommy: That clusterfeeding is key to those long stretches!! Logan eats every 2 hours in the evening, which has gotten me a four hour stretch the last two nights. I'm looking forward to even longer stretches!
@FaithFertility: Woohoo!!! That's great about the sleep and you're feeling good! It's amazing what a good stretch of sleep can do for a person!
@MamaG: Sorry to hear about C's sleep! Xander's not quite 2 yet, so a different age. But I remember my mentor at work telling me about his daughter doing this when she was almost 4, not sleeping well and wanting to come to bed with them every night. So maybe it's common?
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@MamaG: ugh brutal! We usually only have night wakings when T is sick (2x this month....) but he doesn't nap all the time, usually only 3x a week. Not sure if this matters but does she nap?
pomelo / 5660 posts
@FaithFertility: full tummy and age. Around 6 - 8 weeks they seem to go for longer stretches. I just have the oldest baby of the December mommas
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@BandDmommy: She is a good example to follow
Ugh so my bottles in the freezer are all messed up, they are all between like 2-3 oz. I'm gonna try to leave today's bottle in the fridge till tomorrow (I have like 3 oz), then hopefully add 1 oz tomorrow to make a 4 oz bottle and then leave out tomorrow's the day after and keep trying to make 4 oz bottles... Does that make sense/work??
Maybe I'll start using up the 2-3 oz at night to top her off to sleep longer!
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
My little guy just seems to need to eat every 2.5 hours still. I guess a 7 lb baby's belly is only so big! I can pump a lot so not sure how much he eats per feeding. 6 weeks was the magic number for 3+ hr stretches with my first hope that's the case again. Yawn.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
Thinking of Mrs Scallop and her Charlie today. His surgery was delayed Bc he hasn't been doing well.
hostess / wonderful grape / 20803 posts
@snowjewelz: do you know how much she eats? It may only be 3 oz.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@winniebee: Yes, she still naps, consistently every day for 1.5 - 2 hours.
Most of C's wakeups aren't the end of the world because they tend to be quick. I can go in, address her issue, then I use the restroom (since I'm up!) and back in bed. It's just strange as she's never really had sleep regressions before. Being sick is another ballgame entirely.
I'm sitting here tempted to nap since K is sleeping, but feel like I need to get used to no naps as I'm almost back to work.
wonderful kiwi / 23653 posts
@winniebee: I have no clue! I read that they generally eat between 25--30 oz a day... So she should be eating 3-4 oz per feeding since she feeds between 8-10 times a day. I know for sure 2 oz is too little.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@BandDmommy: When does D go for her two month check and shots? We are right behind you (7 weeks yesterday) and have our appointment scheduled for Monday 1/19.
pomelo / 5298 posts
@snowjewelz: I would guess she's at 3-4 oz. I know formula feeding is different than breast feeding but K has been taking 4 oz per feeding for over a month now. As a matter of fact, we are trying out 5 oz feedings this week to try to shift her to eating more during the day and get longer stretches at night.
